RESUMO

Cerebral ischemia-reperfusion is a process in which the blood supply to the brain is temporarily interrupted and subsequently restored. However, it is highly likely to lead to further aggravation of pathological damage to ischemic tissues or the nervous system., and has accordingly been a focus of extensive clinical research. As a traditional Chinese medicinal formulation, Sanhua Decoction has gradually gained importance in the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases. Its main constituents include Citrus aurantium, Magnolia officinalis, rhubarb, and Qiangwu, which are primarily used to regulate qi. In the treatment of neurological diseases, the therapeutic effects of the Sanhua Decoction are mediated via different pathways, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neurotransmitter regulatory pathways, as well as through the protection of nerve cells and a reduction in cerebral edema. Among the studies conducted to date, many have found that the application of Sanhua Decoction in the treatment of neurological diseases has clear therapeutic effects. In addition, as a natural treatment, the Sanhua Decoction has received widespread attention, given that it is safer and more effective than traditional Western medicines. Consequently, research on the mechanisms of action and efficacy of the Sanhua Decoctions in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury is of considerable significance. In this paper, we describe the pathogenesis of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and review the current status of its treatment to examine the therapeutic mechanisms of action of the Sanhua Decoction. We hope that the findings of the research presented herein will contribute to a better understanding of the efficacy of this formulation in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion, and provide a scientific basis for its application in clinical practice.

RESUMO

In medical research, predictive models have been widely used to predict disease progression and identify high-risk populations in advance, especially in the prevention and diagnosis of chronic diseases. In ophthalmology, the predictive and diagnostic models for fundus diseases such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy have demonstrated expert-level accuracy. However, the application of predictive models is still in the exploratory stage as for myopia prevention and control. The establishment of a predictive model is helpful to identify the high-risk myopic children in advance, so that preventive measures such as adequate outdoor activities and reducing near work can be taken in time, which is of great significance to prevent or slow down the occurrence and development of myopia. Because the mechanism of myopia has not been fully elucidated, there are still challenges and limitations in the selection of application objects, predictors and predictive outcomes. This paper reviews the research progress of different types of myopia predictive models in order to provide reference for further development and improvement.

RESUMO

Clinical prediction models play an important role in the field of medicine. These can help predict the probability of an individual suffering from disease, complications, and treatment outcomes by applying specific methodologies. Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common disease with a high incidence rate, huge heterogeneity, short- and long-term complications, and complex treatments. In this systematic review study, we reviewed the progress of clinical prediction models in PCOS patients, including diagnosis and prediction models for PCOS complications and treatment outcomes. We aimed to provide ideas for medical researchers and clues for the management of PCOS. In the future, models with poor accuracy can be greatly improved by adding well-known parameters and validations, which will further expand our understanding of PCOS in terms of precision medicine. By developing a series of predictive models, we can make the definition of PCOS more accurate, which can improve the diagnosis of PCOS and reduce the likelihood of false positives and false negatives. It will also help discover complications earlier and treatment outcomes being known earlier, which can result in better outcomes for women with PCOS.

RESUMO

Processing of Chinese Materia Medica (PCMM) is the concentrated embodiment, which is the core of Chinese unique traditional pharmaceutical technology. The processing includes the preparation steps such as cleansing, cutting and stir-frying, to make certain impacts on the quality and efficacy of Chinese botanical drugs. The rapid development of new computer digital technologies, such as big data analysis, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain and cloud computing artificial intelligence, has promoted the rapid development of traditional pharmaceutical manufacturing industry with digitalization and intellectualization. In this review, the application of digital intelligence technology in the PCMM was analyzed and discussed, which hopefully promoted the standardization of the process and secured the quality of botanical drugs decoction pieces. Through the intellectualization and the digitization of production, safety and effectiveness of clinical use of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) decoction pieces were ensured. This review also provided a theoretical basis for further technical upgrading and high-quality development of TCM industry.

RESUMO

Edible fungi are not only delicious but are also rich in nutritional and medicinal value, which is highly sought after by consumers. As the edible fungi industry continues to rapidly advance worldwide, particularly in China, the cultivation of superior and innovative edible fungi strains has become increasingly pivotal. Nevertheless, conventional breeding techniques for edible fungi can be arduous and time-consuming. CRISPR/Cas9 (clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats/CRISPR-associated nuclease 9) is a powerful tool for molecular breeding due to its ability to mediate high-efficiency and high-precision genome modification, which has been successfully applied to many kinds of edible fungi. In this review, we briefly summarized the working mechanism of the CRISPR/Cas9 system and highlighted the application progress of CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome-editing technology in edible fungi, including Agaricus bisporus, Ganoderma lucidum, Flammulina filiformis, Ustilago maydis, Pleurotus eryngii, Pleurotus ostreatus, Coprinopsis cinerea, Schizophyllum commune, Cordyceps militaris, and Shiraia bambusicola. Additionally, we discussed the limitations and challenges encountered using CRISPR/Cas9 technology in edible fungi and provided potential solutions. Finally, the applications of CRISPR/Cas9 system for molecular breeding of edible fungi in the future are explored.

RESUMO

Anthocyanins are bioactive compounds belonging to the flavonoid class which are commonly applied in foods due to their attractive color and health-promoting benefits. However, the instability of anthocyanins leads to their easy degradation, reduction in bioactivity, and color fading in food processing, which limits their application and causes economic losses. Therefore, the objective of this review is to provide a systematic evaluation of the published research on modified methods of anthocyanin use. Modification technology of anthocyanins mainly includes chemical modification (chemical acylation, enzymatic acylation, and formation of pyran anthocyanidin), co-pigmentation, and physical modification (microencapsulation and preparation of pickering emulsion). Modification technology of anthocyanins can not only increase bioavailability and stability of anthocyanin but also can improve effects of anthocyanin on disease prevention and treatment. We also propose potential challenges and perspectives for diversification of anthocyanin-rich products for food application. Overall, integrated strategies are warranted for improving anthocyanin stabilization and promoting their further application in the food industry, medicine, and other fields.

RESUMO

The liver is a highly proliferative organ. As the liver injured, the hepatocytes can quickly enter the cell cycle to restore the volume and function of liver. Liver regeneration involves complex processes that depend on the interaction of many different cell types. As limited by the average cell change level in tissues, traditional sequencing methods can only acquire the average genetic information reflecting dominant cell subpopulations, but ignore the secondary cell subpopu-lations, which leads to the loss of cellular heterogeneity information. Single-cell sequencing tech-nology can analyze the biological behavior of single cell, which helps to better understand the distri-bution, interaction and cell heterogeneity of different cells during liver regeneration. The authors review the application of single cell sequencing technology in liver regeneration.

RESUMO

@#Prenatal ultrasound screening is an important means to exclude fetal structural abnormalities. With the continuous development of technology, more vascular abnormalities can be found more early, which improves the quality of the social population. Traditional Doppler ultrasonic images have a low resolution and poorly display small blood vessels. SlowflowHD is a particularly sensitive power Doppler designed to detect small microvessels with a low flow rate, and can improve the resolution of fine blood vessels. SlowflowHD has been gradually applied to prenatal screening because of its unique characteristics such as high display frame rate, high line density (high resolution), and good sensitivity. This article aims to explore the clinical application progress of SlowflowHD in prenatal screening.

RESUMO

Currently, interventional therapy has been widely used in clinical practice as a treatment method for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The limitations of interventional therapy lie mainly in the intolerable pain felt by the patients during the treatment process. Hence, the selection of the anesthetic methods and drugs, as well as the precise control of the dosages, are particularly crucial before the initiation of the treatment. Moreover, different anesthetic methods and drugs may also affect the patient's recovery differently. To better comprehend the current status of various anesthetic methods and drugs used in interventional therapy for HCC, this study reviewed the advantages and disadvantages of different anesthetic methods and drugs.

RESUMO

Taste is an important factor affecting the medicinal properties of oral preparations and patient compliance with medication, and also an important evaluation index for oral preparation design and clinical application. How to characterize the taste objectively, accurately, simply, and efficiently is a bottleneck problem that restricts the taste design, development, and utilization of oral preparations. At present, the commonly used taste assessment methods for oral preparations are traditional human taste panel, electronic tongue, animal preference test, in vitro release study, and electrophysiological test. The traditional human taste panel is the first choice for taste evaluation, but it is limited by poor subjectivity and reproducibility. Therefore, despite some limitations, the other four taste assessment methods have been applied in the pharmaceutical industry as auxiliary methods. This study reviewed the detection principles, applicability, advantages, and disadvantages of the above methods to provide references for the taste correction research and taste assessment of oral preparations, improve patient compliance and the competitiveness of oral preparation products in the industry, and promote the development of oral preparation technologies.

RESUMO

In recent years, unconventional fractionated radiotherapy has shown increasing advantages in the treatment of multiple system tumors. Simultaneous integrated boost intensity-modulated radiotherapy (SIB-IMRT) involves the delivery of standard-fraction doses of radiotherapy to different areas, achieving the delivery of higher doses of radiotherapy per fraction to the high-risk gross tumor volume (GTV) without sacrificing the irradiation dose to the normal tissues. The dosimetric advantages of SIB-IMRT have been widely recognized. At present, the local control, survival advantage, indication population and the optimal upper limit of single fraction of SIB-IMRT for esophageal carcinoma are still unclear. This article reviews the application of SIB-IMRT in esophageal carcinoma.

RESUMO

By using optical surface guided radiotherapy technology, the principle of three-dimensional body surface imaging is employed to obtain body surface images in a real-time manner. By comparing with reference images, it can verify the position before treatment, and realize real-time monitoring and gated treatment during treatment. It is a non-invasive and non-radiation technology, which is mainly applied in the treatment of intracranial, head and neck, chest and abdomen, breast, extremities and pediatric tumors. The research progresses consist of four aspects including less body surface markers, less restraint fixation, safer collision prediction and more accurate real-time tracking.

RESUMO

The incidence rate of depression is increasing, but its pathological mechanism is still unknown. More evidence shows that the occurrence and development of depression is closely related to the changes of gut microbiome. However, due to the huge differences in bacterial composition among individuals caused by different environmental factors, researchers usually need a large number of samples to get reliable results. Experimental animal models play an important role in the pathogenesis of diseases and the mechanism of drug action because of their highly consistent background, controllable experimental environment, and the characteristics of artificial intervention. Therefore, the selection of appropriate experimental animal models can not only simulate the clinical symptoms of human depression, but also reveal the causal relationship between clinical characteristics and gut microbiome changes. In this review, the development and application of fecal microbiota transplantation technology, the close relationship between flora and depression, the application of humanized fecal microbiota transplantation experimental animal model in the study of depression, as well as the preparation methods and key technologies of humanized fecal microbiota were summarized, which provided a reference for the research on the pathogenesis of depression and the mechanism of antidepressant drugs of humanized fecal microbiota transplantation experimental animal model. This review provides a reference for the reasonable application of this aspect.

RESUMO

Depression is a kind of mental disease with main symptoms of low mood and lack of pleasure, which seriously endangers human health. An appropriate depressive animal model is of great significance for the study of depression and new antidepressant drugs, while the suitable selection and matching of experimental animals, modeling methods and evaluation indexes are critical to eva-luate the scientificity and effectiveness of the depressive animal model. The study advance of depressive animal models in the aspects of experimental animal selection, modeling principle and method, characteristics, evaluation indexes and their application in traditional Chinese medicine are summarized through the systematic review of relevant literatures in PubMed, CNKI and other databases. The depressive animal modeling methods utilized in recent studies include stress, glucocorticoid induction, reserpine induction, lipopolysaccharide induction, surgical modeling, gene knockout, joint application modeling methods. Stress method is better to simulate the depressive symptoms of clinical patients, whereas there are some deficiencies, such as long modeling time and large cost. The depressive animal models induced by glucocorticoid, reserpine and lipopolysaccharide have the advantages of short modeling time and good controllability, but with a poor reliability. The pathogenesis of surgical modeling is highly matched with that of clinical depressive patients, whereas it has the defect of long postoperative recovery period. Gene knockout models can be used to study the precise role of specific genes in depression. However, its applicability may be restricted in studies on depression. The joint application modeling method can improve its reliability and accuracy, and attracts more and more attention. This paper provides a reference for the selection of animal models in future studies of pathological mechanism of depression, and screening and evaluation of antidepressant drugs.
