RESUMO
El Centro de Investigaciones y Referencias de Aterosclerosis de la Habana desarrolla la Carrera Certificativa de Investigaciones en Aterosclerosis que incluye: Diplomado, Maestría y Doctorado. La elaboración de documentos de tesis presente, ha sido un problema para los implicados en el proceso. Propósito: Crear una plantilla de Word que sirva de guía a maestrantes y doctorantes en la elaboración de sus documentos de tesis. Método: se realizó trabajo búsqueda de lo legislado sobre la creación de los documentos de tesis, se investigaron las deficiencias ya presentadas, se elaboró la plantilla de Word y un manual, se distribuyó para su validación. Resultados: Se creó el Modelo CCa, plantilla de Word totalmente modificable que contiene la estructura de la tesis e incluye las orientaciones metodológicas en el mismo lugar donde se inserta el contenido. Se publicó en el sitio web del centro. Conclusiones: La plantilla facilitó el desarrollo del proceso educativo, ayudó al perfeccionamiento científico de los alumnos y creó condiciones para un uso más práctico de la tecnología(AU)
The Center of Investigations and References of Atherosclerosis of Havana (CIRAH) works on the Accredited Degree Course in Atherosclerosis Research which includes: Diploma Courses, Master´s Degree Courses, and Doctorates. The preparation of documents for the thesis has been a problem for all the people involved in the process during the last two stages. Purpose: To create a Microsoft Word pattern that can be used as a guide for the elaboration of thesis documents for Master´s Degree students and doctoral students. Method: A search work about legislations concerning the creation of documents for thesis was made, the differences already presented were investigated, and a Microsoft Word pattern and a handbook were prepared which were distributed for assessment. Results: The CCa Model was created which is a totally modifiable Microsoft Word Pattern and contains the structure of the thesis and the methodological advice in the same place where the content is inserted. It was published in the Web site of the center. Conclusions: The pattern facilitated the development of the educational process, helped in the students´ scientific improvement, and created the conditions for a more practical use of the technology(AU)

Introducción: la Carrera Certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis, surge con el fin de contribuir a la formación de un profesional con mayor perfeccionamiento profesional e investigativo, capaz de brindar una mejor atención a la población, en un problema de salud de gran importancia: la aterosclerosis. Objetivo: exponer los principales resultados en la formación de recursos humanos, de la Carrera Certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis, durante 10 años de trabajo. Material y Métodos: se realizó un estudio descriptivo de tipo transversal. Los datos se obtuvieron de la base de datos de la secretaría docente del Centro de Investigación y Referencia de Aterosclerosis de La Habana, en el período comprendido entre enero del 2003 y enero del 2013. Las variables estudiadas fueron las especialidades y niveles de atención, en los que laboran los integrantes de la carrera certificativa, tesis de maestría defendidas y desempeño profesional e investigativo. Resultados: en el período estudiado se graduaron 430 alumnos en el diplomado y 170 en la maestría. Predominaron los alumnos que laboraban en el nivel de atención secundaria. Al finalizar, en la maestría se produjo un aumento en la obtención y promoción de categorías docentes investigativas y grados científicos. Conclusiones: los resultadosde una década de trabajo de la Carrera Certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis, constituyen un aporte positivo en la formación de recursos humanos en salud, con una elevada preparación docente e investigativa(AU)
Introduction: the Accredited Degree Course in Atherosclerosis Research comes up with the aim of contributing to the formation of a professional with a higher professional and investigative improvement, able to give a better attention to the population with regards to a health problem of great importance: atherosclerosis. Objective: to show the main results in the formation of human resources in the Accredited Degree Course in Atherosclerosis Research, during a 10-year work period. Material and Methods: a descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. The data were obtained from the database of the teaching secretariat of the Center of Investigations and References of Atherosclerosis of Havana (CIRAH), from January 2003 to January 2013. The variables studied were the specialties and the attention levels where the members of the certifying degree course work, the defended dissertations for Master´s Degrees, and the professional and investigative performances. Results: during the period under study, 430 students graduated from the Diploma Course and 170 ones graduated from the Master's Degree. The students that predominated were the ones who worked in the secondary attention level. Finally, there was an increase in the acquisition and promotion of teaching investigative degrees and scientific degrees in the Master´s Degree Course. Conclusions: the results of a decade of work of the Accredited Degree Course in Atherosclerosis Researchconstitute a positive contribution to the formation of human resources for health, with a high teaching and investigative preparation(AU)

Introducción: el CIRAH es una institución de postgrado que contribuye a la actualización permanente del personal de la salud en sus conocimientos sobre la enfermedad aterosclerótica, sus factores de riesgo y sus consecuencias orgánicas. Objetivo: crear un sitio web para el CIRAH que facilite la gestión de información y el proceso docente-investigativo de la Carrera Certificativa de Investigaciones de Aterosclerosis. Material y Método: se comenzó por realizar un trabajo de mesa para definir los contenidos del sitio analizando la misión y visión de la institución. Se revisaron sitios web temáticos, de centros de investigación y educacionales. Se seleccionó la información del centro, se hizo el diseño estructural y gráfico del sitio, se definió la plataforma a utilizar y las herramientas a emplear. Por último, se montaron todos los contenidos. Resultados: se publicó el sitio institucional CIRAH. Mostró la estructura, contenidos y resultados del trabajo desarrollado. Se colocaron variadas secciones para facilitar el acceso a la información bibliográfica. Ofreció tutoriales y herramientas útiles para el trabajo. Respondió a las dos líneas fundamentales de trabajo: docencia-investigación sobre aterosclerosis. Centralizó el acceso a la información del centro. Conclusiones: el sitio web CIRAH resultó una nueva vía de organización y gestión de información para el centro. Su lanzamiento inició una nueva forma de trabajo colaborativo para sus trabajadores(AU)
Introduction: CIRAH is a graduate degree institution that contributes to the permanent upgrading of health personnel in their knowledge on the atherosclerotic illness, its risk factors and its organic consequences. The Investigation Certification Studies on Atherosclerosis is conducted here, which is offers to all the country. These studies are organized in three stages: Graduate, Master, and Doctorate. Coordinating this process is complex and the center has very little staff. Objective: to create a website for CIRAH that facilitates the information management and the educational - investigative process of The Investigation Certification Studies on Atherosclerosis. Material and Method: it started by carrying out a table work to define those contents of the website, analyzing the mission and vision of this institution. Thematic websites, of investigation and educational centers were revised. CIRAH information was selected, the structural design and graph website was made, and the platform and the tools to use to use were defined. Lastly, all the contents were uploaded. Results: CIRAH institutional website was published. It showed the structures, contents and results of the work conducted. Various sections were placed to facilitate the access to the bibliographical information. Tutorials and useful tools to work were offered. Two fundamental lines of work on atherosclerosis were focused: teaching and investigation. The access to CIRAH information was centralized. Conclusions: CIRAH website was a new road for information organization and administration of this center. Its launching marked a new form of collaborative work for its workers(AU)

Introducción Cuba es el país con mayores tasas de prevalencia e incidencia para las ataxias hereditarias, lo que constituye un problema de salud que motivó la creación del Centro para la Investigación y Rehabilitación de Ataxias Hereditarias en Holguín. Objetivos Describir los principales resultados, aportes científicos, estrategias de intervención e impactos que durante más de 10 años se han obtenido por el citado centro, como modelo para el abordaje integral de las ataxias hereditarias en Cuba. Fuente de datos Se realizó una revisión en las bases de datos Pubmed-Medline y Scopus, analizando todos los artículos relevantes, comprendidos en el periodo 1978-2011. Se utilizó el descriptor «ataxia espinocerebelar¼, de elevada especificidad y sensibilidad para el tema en análisis. Síntesis de los datos La prevalencia de la enfermedad se ha mantenido constante durante 40 años, extendiéndose a toda la isla. La mutación ataxia espinocerebelosa tipo 2 es responsable del 60 % de la variabilidad fenotípica mientras que el 40 % restante se debe a factores modificadores genéticos y/o ambientales. Se ha descrito la existencia de un daño oxidativo severo, disminución de neuroprotectores y oligoelementos. Los estudios neurofisiológicos permitieron definir etapas evolutivas desde estadios preclínicos de la enfermedad así como biomarcadores de progresión y daño genético. Estos resultados proiciaron el diseño y ejecución de varios ensayos clínicos controlados en busca de un protocolo de tratamiento contra la enfermedad. Adicionalmente se brinda un servicio de diagnostico prenatal y presintomático con un impacto positivo sobre las familias afectadas. Conclusiones Las investigaciones sobre la ataxia espinocerebelosa tipo 2 cubana, como problema de salud, han tenido un enfoque integral. Los nuevos descubrimientos sobre la patogenia, la identificación de biomarcadores, los ensayos clínicos, el diagnóstico prenatal y presintomático permitieron conformar un nuevo modelo cubano para el abordaje de las ataxias hereditarias y el estudio de otras enfermedades neurodegenerativas.
Introduction Cuba is one of the countries with high rates of prevalence and incidence of hereditary ataxias, which is a health problem that encouraged the foundation of the Center for Research and Rehabilitation of Hereditary Ataxias in Holguín province. Objectives To describe the main results, scientific achievements, intervention strategies and impacts of this institution for more than 10 years, as a sort of pattern to be followed to approach hereditary ataxias in Cuba in a more comprehensive way. Data source Pubmed-Medline and Scopus database were reviewed in which all the relevant articles published from 1978 to 2011 were analyzed. Spinocerebelar ataxia, highly specific and sensitive subject headings, were used for the topic under analysis. Data synthesis The prevalence of this disease has remained unchanged for 40 years, being extended to the whole island. Spinocerebelar ataxia type 2 mutation accounts for 60% of the phenotypical variability whereas the remaining 40% is caused by genetic and/or environmental modifying factors. Severe oxidative damage, reduction of neuroprotectors and of oligoelements have been described. The neurophysiological studies allowed defining evolutionary phases from the preclinical stagings as well as progression and genetic damage biomarkers. These results allowed designing several controlled clinical assays in search of one treatment protocol for the disease. Additionally, prenatal and pre-symptomatic diagnosis service is rendered, with positive impact on affected families. Conclusions The research studies on spinocerebelar ataxia type 2 in Cuba as a health problem have had comprehensive approach. The new breakthroughs on pathogeny, identification of biomarkers, clinical assays, prenatal and presymptomatic diagnosis allowed making a new Cuban model to approach hereditary ataxias and the study of other neurodegenerative diseases.

Para facilitar las investigaciones de aterosclerosis se desarrolló una base de datos para pacientes incluidos en estas investigaciones en la comunidad que permitiera entrar, almacenar y recuperar información para su posterior procesamiento y centralización. El producto contó con panel de control principal y variados formularios que simplifican su manipulación. Su elaboración se llevó a cabo en 3 etapas: una de trabajo en grupo para seleccionar las variables y crear el modelo Entidad Relacional, otra para diseñar y montar el producto, y una última para validarlo. El producto se basó en el Modelo de Recolección del Dato Primario del Centro de Investigaciones y Referencia en Aterosclerosis de La Habana. Contó con facilidades de entrada y salida de información, y con posibilidades de extracción de datos según tipo de estudio y hacia otros sistemas para su posterior procesamiento estadístico. Se validó a través de la capacitación desarrollada a los matriculados en la carrera certificativa de Investigación en Aterosclerosis(AU)
To make research on atherosclerosis easier a data base, on patients of the community suffering from this disease, was implemented. This data base will allow collecting, saving and recovering information for its further processing and centralization. The developed product was under a main Control Panel and several forms which simplify its management. Its elaboration was done in three stages: The first stage was a group work to select the variables and to create a Relation Entity Model, a second stage to design and assemble the product and a last one to validate the product. The product was based on the Primary data Collection Model of the Havana Atherosclerosis Research and Reference Center (CIRAH). It allows the input and output of information and it includes possibilities to withdraw the data according to the type of study and it is also available to other systems for its statistics processing. It was validated through the training program provided to those in the Atherosclerosis Research Certified Studies(AU)
