AIM: This study aimed to explore the chain mediating effect of spiritual well-being and anticipatory grief between benefit finding and meaning in life of patients with advanced lung cancer. DESIGN: This was a cross-sectional study. METHODS: The research included 400 patients with advanced lung cancer who attended REDACTE from December 2022 to August 2023 as the research subjects. Data were collected using a questionnaire including socio-demographic and clinical characteristics, the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy-Spiritual Well-Being scale (FACIT-Sp-12), the Benefit Finding Scale (BFS), the Preparatory Grief in Advanced Cancer Patients Scale (PGAC), and the Meaning of Life Questionnaire (MLQ). The structural equation model (SEM) was used to analyse the relationship between benefit finding, spiritual well-being, anticipatory grief and meaning in life. RESULTS: There was a significant correlation between benefit finding, spiritual well-being, anticipatory grief, and meaning in life. Benefit finding could have a direct positive impact on meaning in life of patients with advanced lung cancer, but it could also indirectly affect meaning in life of patients with advanced lung cancer through three pathways: the mediating effect of spiritual well-being, the mediating effect of anticipatory grief and the chain mediating effect of spiritual well-being and anticipatory grief. Nursing staff should develop an integrated program of interventions to enhance the meaning in life of patients with advanced lung cancer.

BACKGROUND: Breast cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy via peripherally inserted central catheter often experience serious behavioral and psychological challenges, with uncertainty and cancer-related fatigue being prevalent issues that profoundly impact prognosis. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate the relationship between uncertainty and cancer-related fatigue by employing a chain mediation model to examine the potential mediating roles of psychological resilience and self-care. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted with 223 breast cancer patients receiving peripherally inserted central catheter chemotherapy at two tertiary affiliated hospitals of China Medical University in Liaoning, China, from February 2021 to December 2022. Participants completed self-reported questionnaires to assess uncertainty, psychological resilience, self-care, and cancer-related fatigue. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using Pearson's correlation analysis, hierarchical regression analysis, and mediation analysis. RESULTS: Uncertainty exhibited a significant positive correlation with cancer-related fatigue (p < 0.01) and a negative correlation with psychological resilience (p < 0.01) and self-care (p < 0.01). Uncertainty was found to impact cancer-related fatigue through three pathways: psychological resilience mediated the relationship between uncertainty and cancer-related fatigue (mediating effect = 0.240, 95% confidence interval: 0.188 to 0.298, effect ratio = 53.22%); self-care also mediated this relationship (mediating effect = 0.080, 95% confidence interval: 0.044 to 0.121, effect ratio = 17.74%); furthermore, there was a significant joint mediating effect of psychological resilience and self-care on the association between uncertainty and cancer-related fatigue (mediating effect = 0.042, 95% confidence interval: 0.021 to 0.068, effect ratio o = 9.31%). CONCLUSION: The findings of this study revealed that uncertainty not only directly influenced cancer-related fatigue, but also operated through the mediating effect of psychological resilience, self-care, and sequential mediation of psychological resilience and self-care. Interventions tailored for breast cancer patients receiving peripherally inserted central catheter chemotherapy should target these factors to help alleviate uncertainty, enhance psychological resilience, and improve self-care practices, thereby ameliorating cancer-related fatigue.

Purpose: During the period of COVID-19 pandemic, the social restrictions and isolation exerted a significant impact on the sleep quality of Chinese college students. This study aims to delve into the influence of physical activity on the sleep quality of college students as well as the mediating roles of stress and smartphone addiction. Materials and Methods: A cohort of 274 eligible college students (146 males and 128 females) were selected for the investigation. The International Physical Activity Questionnaire Short Form, Stress Perception Scale, Smartphone Addiction Scale, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index were employed to assess the levels of physical activity, stress, smartphone addiction, and sleep quality among college students. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and chained mediation effect tests were performed sequentially. Results: The findings revealed: (1) a significant negative correlation between physical activity and stress, smartphone addiction, and sleep quality among college students (r = -0.216, p < 0.001; r = -0.224, p < 0.001; r = -0.259, p < 0.001); (2) independent mediating roles of stress and smartphone addiction in the relationship between physical activity and sleep quality; and (3) chained mediating effects of stress and smartphone addiction in the association between physical activity and sleep quality. Conclusion: This study deepens our comprehension of how physical activity augments the quality of slumber, concurrently emphasizing that mitigating stress levels and alleviating smartphone addiction constitute effective strategies for preventing sleep issues among college students.

BACKGROUND: The outbreak of Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) in 2019 has continued until now, posing a huge threat to the public's physical and mental health, resulting in different degrees of mental health problems. As a vulnerable segment of the public, anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems among COVID-19 patients. Excessive anxiety aggravates the physical and psychological symptoms of COVID-19 patients, which is detrimental to their treatment and recovery, increases financial expenditure, affects family relations, and adds to the medical burden. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to explore the role of psychological capital and self-esteem in the relationship between insomnia and anxiety, thereby shedding light on the mechanism of the effect of insomnia on anxiety in COVID-19 patients. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted from April to May 2022 in Fangcang hospital in Shanghai, China. The self-administered questionnaires were distributed to 718 COVID-19 patients via cell phone using the Internet platform "Questionnaire Star", which included Athens Insomnia Scale, Psychological Capital Questionnaire, Self-esteem Scale, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, gender, age, marital status, education. Data analysis was performed using descriptive analysis, independent-samples t-test, one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis, ordinary least-squares regression, and bootstrap method. RESULTS: Education background had significant impact on anxiety in COVID-19 patients (F = 7.70, P < 0.001). Insomnia, psychological capital, self-esteem and anxiety were significantly correlated, respectively (P < 0.001). And Regression analysis showed that insomnia had a direct negative predictive effect on psychological capital (ß = -0.70, P < 0.001) and self-esteem (ß = -0.13, P < 0.001). Psychological capital had a direct positive predictive effect on self-esteem (ß = 0.12, P < 0.001). Insomnia had a direct positive predictive effect on anxiety (ß = 0.61, P < 0.001). Both psychological capital and self-esteem had significant negative predictive effects on anxiety (ß = -0.06, P < 0.05; ß = -0.72, P < 0.001). The results showed that the mediating effect of psychological capital and self-esteem was significant, and the mediating effect value was 0.21. First, the indirect effect consisting of insomnia - psychological capital - anxiety was 0.04, showing that psychological capital had a significant mediating effect. Second, the indirect effect consisting of insomnia-self-esteem-anxiety had a value of 0.10, indicating that self-esteem had a significant mediating effect. Third, the indirect effect consisting of insomnia-psychological capital-self-esteem-anxiety had a value of 0.06, suggesting that psychological capital and self-esteem had a significant chain mediating effect between insomnia and anxiety. CONCLUSIONS: Insomnia had a significant positive predictive effect on anxiety. Insomnia was first associated with a decrease in psychological capital, followed by a sequential decrease in self-esteem, which in turn was associated with increased anxiety symptoms in COVID-19 patients. Therefore, focusing on improving the psychological capital and self-esteem of patients can help alleviate the anxiety caused by insomnia in COVID-19 patients. It is recommended that patients and health care professionals increase the psychological capital and Self-esteem of COVID-19 patients through various methods to counter the effects of insomnia on anxiety.

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of interactive immediacy on online learning satisfaction, and the mediating effect of learning interest and academic engagement on the relationship between interactive immediacy and online learning satisfaction. 2221 international students in Chinese universities participated in the questionnaire survey. The coefficient omega (ω) and the confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) were used to test the reliability and validity. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was used to analyze interactive immediacy, learning interest, and academic engagement on online learning satisfaction of international students in Chinese universities, as well as the mediating effect of learning interest and academic engagement. The results showed that interactive immediacy did not directly influence the online learning satisfaction of international students in Chinese universities. Learning interest and academic engagement played a complete mediating role between interactive immediacy and online learning satisfaction. Meanwhile, interactive immediacy not only affected online learning satisfaction of international students in Chinese universities through learning interest and academic engagement respectively, but also indirectly affected online learning satisfaction through the chain mediating effect of learning interest and academic engagement. The results of Bootstrap showed that the mediating effects in the model were significant. The findings of this study explored the underlying mechanism of international students' online learning satisfaction in Chinese universities, which provided an empirical basis for universities and teachers to improve the effect of online teaching, and integrate online teaching and traditional classroom teaching.

Self-concept clarity is considered a crucial indicator of mental health. Although several studies have examined the correlation between self-concept clarity and loneliness, few studies have investigated the underlying mechanism. Based on the evolutionary theory of loneliness and social penetration theory, this cross-sectional study focused on cognitive and behavioral factors in interpersonal communication situations, aiming to explore the relationship between self-concept clarity and loneliness as well as its internal mechanism. An online questionnaire survey comprised 1145 college students in China to assess their self-concept clarity, fear of negative evaluation, self-disclosure, and loneliness. After controlling for demographic variables, the results showed that self-concept clarity was not only able to directly and negatively predict loneliness but also indirectly predict loneliness through the independent mediating effects of fear of negative evaluation and self-disclosure, as well as the chain-mediating effect of fear of negative evaluation to self-disclosure. This study provides important implications for cognitive and behavioral intervention strategies to alleviate people's loneliness and improve their mental health.

Objective: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a complex mental disorder to treat. However, there are some deficiencies in research performed to date about the psychological and behavioral factors that may trigger obsessive-compulsive symptoms (OCS). Based on the Psychopathology of Self-Control Theory which states that deficits in self-control underpin psychiatric symptoms, this study investigated the factors influencing OCS among college students. Methods: A total of 5599 non-clinical Chinese college students were recruited to complete the Chinese version of the Self-Control Scale, Aitken Procrastination Inventory, and Symptom Checklist-90. Pearson's correlation analyses and the bootstrap method were performed to test our hypothesis. Results: The following results were obtained: (a) There were significant correlations among self-control, procrastination, anxiety, and OCS. (b) When controlling for the effects of age and sex, self-control remained a significant negative predictor of OCS. (c) The mediating roles of procrastination and anxiety, and the chain mediating role of procrastination and anxiety were the three predicted pathways linking self-control and OCS. Conclusion: This study highlights the significance of self-control deficiencies in OCS. It provides new insights into the psychological and behavioral factors that increase the risk of OCS with important practical implications for early intervention in OCD.

This study aims to examine the mediating role of self-efficacy (SE) and self-control (SC) in the relationship between physical activity (PA) and aggressive behaviors (AB) among college students. It provides a basis for the prevention and control of AB among college students. This study employed a survey research methodology, including the PA Level Scale, the General Self-efficacy Scale, the Self-control Scale, and the Chinese Aggressive Behaviors Scale on 950 college students. The chain mediating effect test and Bootstrap analysis were applied. The results were as follows: (1) There was a main effect of PA on SE, SC, and AB as well as all sub-indicators (physical aggression, verbal aggression, anger, hostility, self-directed aggression), i.e., PA had a direct effect on the control of all three; (2) PA level was significantly negatively correlated with AB and significantly positively correlated with SE and SC. That is, the higher the level of PA, the better the SE and SC, and the lower the probability of AB; (3) The three pathways had mediating effects: PA → SE → AB, PA → SC → AB, PA → SE → SC → AB, with effect sizes of 8.78%, 28.63%, and 19.08%, respectively. It is concluded that regular PA is a potent method for decreasing aggressive behavior and psychological issues in university students while additionally promoting self-efficacy and self-control. Increasing the intensity of PA may enhance the effectiveness of these chain benefits.

A transition to a more sustainable society is occurring worldwide and necessitates a change in people's ways of consuming. Self-transcendence (ST) is recognized as a key predictor of green consumption. Thus, a multiple intermediary model was developed to clarify the psychological mechanisms underlying ST and its influence on consumption. The model was tested using data from a nationally representative sample of 428 Chinese participants. The results show that ST's overall positive effect on green consumption is realized via four indirect paths: (1) the simple mediating role of nature connectedness between ST and green consumption, (2) the simple mediating role of social connectedness between ST and green consumption; (3) the chain-mediating role of construction of meaning in life (CoMIL) and nature connectedness, and (4) the chain-mediating role of CoMIL and social connectedness. Among these paths, nature connectedness plays the most critical mediating role for the Chinese, accounting for the greatest proportion of the total indirect effect. The study advances understanding of the influence and path of ST on green consumption, and provides theoretical and practical support for guiding people toward sustainable lifestyles.

BACKGROUND: Square dancing is a kind of aerobic fitness exercise without environmental restrictions that yields many benefits for physical and mental health; this exercise is popular among middle-aged and elderly people in China and in these populations in other countries. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of square dance exercise on the overall cognitive function of elderly individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and to research its mechanisms. METHODS: A total of 60 elderly people with MCI (60-69 years old) without square dance experience were selected and randomly divided into an experimental group (n = 30) and a control group (n = 30). The experimental group participated in square dance exercise for 12 weeks, while the control group maintained their original lifestyle habits. One week before and after the intervention period, the overall cognitive function, physical fitness, and executive function of both groups were measured. RESULTS: According to the results, square dance exercise directly improved the overall cognitive function of elderly individuals with MCI and indirectly affected overall cognitive function through the mediating effects of balance ability and executive function. CONCLUSIONS: Square dance exercise represents a nonpharmacological intervention for the prevention and treatment of MCI. Importantly, it is best to combine this exercise with other forms of physical exercise and comprehensive treatment programs such as cognitive training, social interaction, and psychological intervention to realize its maximum effect.

BACKGROUND: Loneliness is prevalent in patients with coronary heart disease (CHD). It has a serious impact on the physical and mental health and the quality of life of patients with CHD. However, what factors contribute to loneliness and the mechanism of action still need to be explored. OBJECTIVES: To explore the chain mediating effect among self-disclosure, social support, sense of coherence and loneliness in patients with CHD through a chain mediating model. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 248 patients with CHD from three tertiary hospitals in Shiyan, Hubei Province, China. Self-reported scales were used to assess feelings of loneliness, self-disclosure, social support and sense of coherence. The Amos 26.0 software was used to construct the chain mediating effect. RESULTS: Self-disclosure cannot directly affect patients' loneliness (ß = -0.60, P>0.05). Social support and sense of coherence play a significant complete mediating role between self-disclosure and loneliness, with an overall mediating effect value of -0.479. CONCLUSION: Self-disclosure in CHD patients indirectly affect loneliness through social support and sense of coherence (ß = -0.479, P = 0.001). Improving patient self-disclosure and modulation of social support and sense of coherence help reduce in loneliness.

Background: Rumination has emerged as a significant factor contributing to personal growth following periods of stress or trauma. The present study aimed to investigate the relationship between trait rumination and post-stress growth (PSG) within the context of Chinese college students who encounter mild stressors in their daily lives. Moreover, we aim to evaluate the potential mediating roles played by both distress disclosure and perceived social support in this dynamic relationship. Method: All participants completed assessments using the Adolescent Self-Rating Life Events Checklist, Rumination Response Scale, Post-Stress Growth Inventory, Distress Disclosure Index, and Perceived Social Support Scale. Correlation and mediation analyses were conducted using SPSS PROCESS 4 MACRO. Results: All students reported experiencing mild psychological impacts as a result of negative life events in the past year and displayed moderate levels of PSG. There was no significant correlation observed between the effects of negative life events and PSG. Significant negative correlations were found between trait rumination and distress disclosure, perceived social support, and PSG. Distress disclosure and perceived social support jointly operated as sequential mediators in the relationship between trait rumination and PSG among all the participants. Qualitative analyses revealed different correlation patterns of high- versus low-ruminator. Conclusion: Trait rumination affects PSG both directly and indirectly, through its influence on distress disclosure and perceived social support. Our results emphasize the significance of actively participating in distress disclosure and nurturing a robust sense of social support to counteract the detrimental effects of rumination on post-stress growth among Chinese college students.

Introduction: The well-being of patients with chronic diseases is an issue of widespread concern in public health. While social support is thought to have a positive effect on it, the mechanisms of its influence have not been fully addressed. Thus, we explored the possible mediating effects of self-efficacy and perceived stress to determine the relationship between social support and well-being in these patients. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 4,657 patients with chronic diseases in China. The PROCESS Macro model 6 of SPSS was employed to explore the intermediary role between variables. Results: Self-efficacy and perceived stress played a partial intermediary role between social support and subjective well-being, with an effect ratio of 48.25% and 23.61%, respectively. Self-efficacy and perceived stress had a chain intermediary effect (28.14%) between social support and subjective well-being. Discussion: This study suggested that improving the self-efficacy of patients with chronic diseases to cope with the changes in social support caused by the disease could reduce stress and enhance subjective well-being.

Coke oven emissions (COEs) exposure leads to oxidative stress, an imbalance between oxidant production and antioxidant defence in the body, which then leads to shortened relative telomere length (RTL) and reduced mitochondrial DNA copy number (mtDNAcn), ultimately leading to ageing and disease. By analysing the relationship among COEs, oxidative stress, RTL and mtDNAcn, we investigated the chain-mediating effects of oxidative stress and telomeres on mitochondrial damage and mitochondria on telomere damage in coke oven workers. A total of 779 subjects were included in the study. Cumulative COEs exposure concentrations were estimated, and the RTL and mtDNAcn of peripheral blood leukocytes were measured using real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR. Total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) was measured to reflect the level of oxidative stress. The data were statistically analysed using SPSS 21.0 software and discussed using mediation effect analysis. After adjusting for age, sex, smoking, drinking and BMI, generalised linear model revealed dose-response associations between COEs and T-AOC, RTL and mtDNAcn, respectively. (Ptrend < 0.05). The results of chain-mediating effect showed that the proportion of the chain-mediating effect of "CED-COEs→T-AOC→ RTL→mtDNAcn" was 0.82% (ß = -0.0005, 95% CI = [-0.0012, -0.0001]), and the proportion of the chain-mediating effect of "CED-COEs→T-AOC→ mtDNAcn → RTL ″ was 2.64% (ß = -0.0013, 95% CI = [-0.0025, -0.0004]). After oxidative stress is induced by COEs, mitochondria and telomeres may interact with each other while leading further to potential bodily damage. This study provides clues to explore the association between mitochondria and telomeres.

Employee recognition, an incentive method widely used in management practice, plays an important role in the organization. Although extant studies have confirmed its effectiveness, little attention has been paid to its spillover effect. Based on the Social Cognitive Theory and Affective Events Theory, this study argues that employee recognition encounter can trigger cognitive and behavioral reactions. Through perceived organizational justice and workplace wellbeing, a chain-mediating effect connects witnessing employee recognition to work engagement. This research adopts the empirical research method by asking the participants to do the weekly survey (four times in 1 month), and 258 samples are collected. Using SPSS20.0 and its PROCESS macro module, hypotheses are tested. The results indicate (1) employees who witness leaders' recognition of colleagues will (a) perceive higher organizational justice and (b) be more engaged in work. (2) Perceived organizational justice will mediate the positive relationship between employee recognition encounters with (a) workplace wellbeing and (b) work engagement. (3) Perceived organizational justice and workplace wellbeing will have a chain-mediating effect in the path of employee recognition encounter and work engagement. The results provide both practical and theoretical contribution to employee recognition.

Purpose: The research intends to find the internal influence mechanism of interpersonal relationship on college students' mental health. College students have many mental health problems, which can easily lead to extreme events. It is of great research value to explore the relationship among interpersonal relationship, safety awareness, college planning, and mental health. Participants and Methods: GHQ, WHOQOL-BREF, SWBS-CC, LSIB, and TSCS scales were used, revised questionnaire for cluster sampling of college students, 1661 valid samples. SPSS 26.0 and PROCESS V4.1 were used for analysis, and nonparametric Bootstrap method was used to test the significance level of the mediating effect. Results: There are significant differences in interpersonal relationship, safety awareness, and college planning between high mental health group and low mental health group. There are differences in safety awareness between genders. There is a positive correlation among interpersonal relationship, safety awareness, college planning, and mental health. Interpersonal relationship has a positive predictive effect on mental health. There are three mediating pathways of interpersonal relationship on mental health: independent mediating effect pathway of safety awareness, independent mediating effect pathway of college planning, and chain mediating effect pathway through safety awareness and college planning. Conclusion: This study reveals the Influence mechanism of interpersonal relationships on college students' mental health. The relationship between interpersonal relationship and mental health is affected by the multiple mediating effects of safety awareness and college planning. It provides a new perspective for preventing and intervening mental health problems. College students' personality has plasticity, which can be interfered by mediating mechanism. The present findings could help college students actively participate in interpersonal communication, improve safety awareness, and make a good college planning, so as to enhance the mental health level of college students.

Objective:To investigate the relationship between self-control and obsessive-compulsive symptoms(OCS), and the mediating role of procrastination and anxiety in this relation.Methods:Totally 6 367 Chinese college students were recruited to complete the Chinese version of the self-control scale, the Aitken procrastination inventory, and the symptom checklist-90.Descriptive analysis and Pearson correlation were carried out using SPSS 23.0.Mplus 7.4 was used to test the model fit.The mediating effects were tested using the Bootstrap method.Results:Pearson correlation analysis showed that there were significant correlations among self-control, procrastination, anxiety, and obsessive-compulsive symptoms ( r=-0.71-0.78, P<0.01). Mediation modeling analysis showed that the total indirect effect of self-control on OCS was -0.303, accounting for 63.13% of the total effect.The mediating effect of procrastination between self-control and OCS was -0.045, accounting for 9.38% of the total effect.The mediating effect of anxiety between self-control and OCS was -0.239, accounting for 49.79% of the total effect.Moreover, the chain mediating effect of procrastination and anxiety between self-control and OCS was also significant, with an effect value of -0.019, accounting for 3.96% of the total effect. Conclusion:Self-control can negatively predict OCS, procrastination and anxiety play a chain mediating role in the effect of self-control on OCS.

Objective:To explore the mediating effects of mindfulness and perceived stress between childhood trauma and psychotic-like experiences.Methods:In October 2021, 602 freshmen from a university in Guangdong Province were tested by childhood trauma questionnaire(CTQ), mindful attention awareness scale(MAAS), perceived stress scale(PSS), and community assessment of psychic experiences(CAPE). SPSS 21.0 and Mplus 8.3 were used for data analysis. Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare the differences between groups, and Spearman correlation analysis was used to investigate the correlation among childhood trauma, mindfulness, perceived stress and psychotic-like experiences. Bias-corrected nonparametric percentile Bootstrap method was used to examine the mediating roles of mindfulness and perceived stress between childhood trauma and psychotic-like experiences. Results:(1) In the past one month, 59.5% of the freshmen had psychotic-like experiences, and 8.5% of them experienced the distress. (2)Childhood trauma was positively correlated with perceived stress( r=0.29, P<0.01), frequency ( r=0.14, P<0.01)and distress( r=0.17, P<0.01) of psychotic-like experiences, and was negatively correlated with mindfulness( r=-0.28, P<0.01). (2)Mindfulness and perceived stress played individual mediating effects and chain mediating effect between childhood trauma and frequency of psychotic-like experiences, with effect size of 0.08, 0.04, 0.03, accounting for 53.33%, 26.67%, 20.00% of the total indirect effect(effect size=0.15), respectively. Mindfulness and perceived stress played individual mediating effects and chain mediating effect between childhood trauma and distress of psychotic-like experiences, with effect size of 0.07, 0.04, 0.03, accounting for 50.00%, 28.57%, 21.43% of the total indirect effect(effect size=0.14), respectively. Conclusion:Childhood trauma can affect psychotic-like experiences and distress through the indirect effects of mindfulness and perceived stress, or through the chain mediating effect of mindfulness-perceived stress.

It explores the roles of self-efficacy and self-control in physical activity and Internet addiction. And it further provides a theoretical basis for the treatment and improvement of Internet addiction among college students. This study employs the whole group sampling method. The questionnaire was conducted on 855 college students from five universities in three provinces using the Physical Activity Level Scale, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, the Self-Control Scale, and the Chinese Internet Addiction Scale (IAS). The analyses yielded three main findings. (1) A large amount of physical activity was helpful in reducing the symptoms of Internet addiction and the problematic status of each dimension among college students. (2) A large or moderate amount of physical activity was helpful in enhancing college students' self-efficacy. Besides, a large amount of physical activity was likely to enhance college students' self-control. (3) The condition of physical activity not only directly has the negative correlation with college students' Internet addiction but also influences college students' Internet addiction through two indirect ways: the mediating role of self-control and the chain mediating role of self-efficacy and self-control. These conclusions provide a deeper understanding of the protective factors of Internet addiction among Chinese college students.

College students frequently experience technostress and engage in cyberslacking whilst participating in technology-enhanced learning (TEL). This research aimed to investigate the influence mechanism of technostress on college students' cyberslacking. This research recruited 634 students from two Chinese colleges to complete a web-based questionnaire adapted from previous research. Structural equation modelling was adopted and the research results showed that: in TEL (1) college students' technostress significantly and positively affected cyberslacking; (2) deficient self-control partially mediated college students' technostress and cyberslacking; (3) burnout partially mediated college students' technostress and cyberslacking; and (4) deficient self-control and burnout played a chain mediating role between college students' technostress and cyberslacking. These findings improve our understanding of the influence college students' technostress has on cyberslacking in TEL, and several suggestions to reduce college students' cyberslacking in TEL are proposed.
