RESUMO

The aim of the study was to assess the risk and severity of depression tendency in pregnant and postpartum women and to determine the relative risk for selected psychosocial and obstetric variables. The study included 317 women in the perinatal period. The severity of depressive disorders was assessed using standard self-report scales: EPDS (Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale), BDI-II (Depression Inventory-Second Edition), and HADS (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale). High rates of depression tendency in women in the third trimester of pregnancy were reported in 48.05% of pregnant women (≥10 EPDS scores), 49.36% (≥12 BDI II scores), and 41.55% (≥8 HADS-D scores). In contrast, in women in the first week after delivery, respectively: 33.74%; 28.83%; 22.08%. In the EPDS assessment, 11.69% of pregnant women and 17.79% of postpartum women confirmed the presence of self-injurious thoughts. A woman's diagnosis of depressive disorder before pregnancy increases the risk of postpartum depression tendency 3.35 times according to the EPDS, 3.51 times according to the BDI-II, and 4.89 times according to the HADS-D. Depressive disorders were significantly more common in pregnant women compared to women in the first week of postpartum. Systematic screening can identify risk factors for prenatal and postpartum depression.

RESUMO

Objective:To explore the effects of embodied emotion priming on attentional bias of individuals with depression tendency. Methods:From June to December 2018, a total of 91 college students with depression tendency were recruited to participate in the experiment.A 3(embodied emotion priming: positive priming, negative priming and no priming) × 2 (emotional face: happy and sad) mixed design was adopted to measure the attentional bias of individuals with depression tendency using the dot probe paradigm. SPSS 22.0 statistical software was used for repeated measurement analysis of variance. Results:In terms of attentional bias, the interaction effect between embodied emotion priming types and emotional faces was significant ( F(2, 88)=5.97, P=0.004, ηp2=0.119). Further simple effect analysis showed that, under the happy-face condition, participants' attentional bias reaction time(△RT) was significantly higher when primed with embodied positive emotion than those primed with embodied negative emotion((14.30±18.23)ms, (-6.53±38.17)ms, P<0.05). The participants' attentional bias △RT was significantly lower when primed with embodied negative emotion than participants with no priming ((-6.53±38.17)ms, (9.16±30.62)ms, P<0.05). Under the sad-face condition, the participants' attentional bias △RT was significantly higher when primed with embodied negative emotion((28.22±35.33)ms) than participants primed with embodied positive emotion((11.71±29.24)ms, P<0.05) and no priming ((7.63±30.60)ms, P<0.05). Conclusion:Embodied emotion priming can affect the attentional bias of individuals with depression tendency.

RESUMO

This study attempted to examine the mechanism of the impact of Addiction-Prone Personality (APP) on creative cognitive styles (idea generation, idea selection), especially to explore the mediating role of novelty seeking and the moderating role of depression tendency on the relationship between APP and creative cognitive styles. College students (N = 576, 79% female) participated in and completed measures of APP, idea generation and selection, novelty seeking, and depression tendency. Results showed that (1) APP was positively related with idea generation while negatively related with idea selection; (2) novelty seeking played a partial mediating role in the relationship between APP and idea generation and a suppressing effect between APP and idea selection; (3) depression tendency moderated the indirect relationship between APP and creative cognitive styles through novelty seeking. Therefore, APP has different indirect effects on idea generation and idea selection via novelty seeking. When there was a higher depression tendency, there was a stronger indirect effect. The study highlights the significant importance of the underlying processes between APP and creative cognitive styles and offers implications for rethinking the relationship between addiction and creativity.

RESUMO

Psychological depression is a normal emotional experience of human beings. Everyone will experience different levels of depression in life. Under the dual influence of the current socio-economic environment and the small environment of students' quality, the depressive tendency of college students cannot be ignored. In order to mine and improve the level of College Students' psychological depression, this paper proposes a prediction model of College Students' PD based on multi-source online comment mining. The data mining method is used to analyze the content and emotion of microblog comments of users with depressive tendencies. Then, pattern extraction and matching are used to find low-frequency feature words. The example analysis shows that when the comment length is set to 10 and the news length is set to 47, the classification accuracy of the test set is the highest, reaching 96.454%, higher than the original 94.898%. Learning pressure, economic pressure, employment pressure, coping style and social support are closely related to depression and anxiety. Therefore, when modeling depression and anxiety, they were selected as predictive properties. The PD prediction model of college students based on multi-source online comment mining has achieved good results in the polarity classification of online comments.

RESUMO

Surgery and chemotherapy may increase depression tendency in patients with rectal cancer (RC). Nevertheless, few comprehensive studies are conducted on alterations of brain network induced by depression tendency in patients with RC. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) data were collected from 42 patients with RC with surgery and chemotherapy and 38 healthy controls (HCs). Functional network (FN) was constructed from extracting average time courses in brain regions, and structural network (SN) was established by deterministic tractography. Graph theoretical analysis was used to calculate network properties. Networks resilient of two networks were assessed. Clinical correlation analysis was explored between altered network parameters and Hamilton depression scale (HAMD) score. This study revealed impaired FN and SN at both local and global levels and changed nodal efficiency and abnormal small-worldness property in patients with RC. On the whole, all FNs are more robust than SN. Moreover, compared with HC, patients with RC show less robustness in both networks. Regions with decreased nodal efficiency were associated with HAMD score. These cognitive dysfunctions are mainly attributable to depression-related brain functional and structural network alterations. Brain network reorganization is to prevent patients with RC from more serious depression after surgery and chemotherapy.

RESUMO

According to current research, the electrophysiological responses to self evaluation are influenced by social comparison. Using the event-related potential (ERP), we explored the neural mechanisms of the self evaluation of a depression tendency using a social comparison (stranger-result). The subjects engaged in a two-person, money game task with a stranger. The behavioral results showed that the subjects were more satisfied with self-win than with self-loss, and the self-result regarding satisfaction was unaffected by a depression tendency or a stranger-result. The electroencephalogram (EEG) results showed that as self-result, self-win induced a larger P2, a smaller feedback-related negativity (FRN), and a larger P3 than self-loss; the self-result effect was influenced by a depression tendency and a stranger-result in the early and middle latency windows, respectively, and affected by a stranger-result in the later latency window; the non-depression tendency (NDT) group induced a larger P2 than the depression tendency (DT) group; a stranger-loss induced a larger P2 and P3 than a stranger-win in self-loss; a stranger-win induced a larger P2 and P3 than a stranger-loss in self-win; the DT group was the same as the NDT group in self-loss; the DT group induced a larger FRN than the NDT group in self-win. Our research indicates that the self evaluation is affected by a depression tendency and stranger-result respectively, and in the two-person game, the subjective report of the subjects contains a certain degree of concealment.

RESUMO

Depression is one of the common incidental symptoms in end-stage renal disease (ESRD) patients, empirically overlooked. Reproducible results observed that altered interregional white matter (WM) connections between depression-related brain regions (thalamus, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex (PFC)) in the human brain were closely associated with depression. Whether the depressive tendency of ESRD patients is also association with the WM connections is remains unknown. To address this problem, 56 ESRD patients before dialysis initiation and 56 healthy controls (HCs) were scanned with diffusion tensor imaging. According to the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders, ESRD patients were separated into with and without depressive tendency groups. Twenty-five essential metabolites were tested in ESRD. The tractography atlas-based analysis and multiple regression analysis were implemented to gain features which could map the depressive tendency variability across ESRD. For metabolites, the levels of thrombocytes and calcium have significant differences between with and without depressive tendency groups. For WM microstructure, depressive tendency ESRD patients had abnormal WM diffusion properties along the fiber tracts of the amygdala-PFC. Compared with the features which were extracted from the group-difference of WM or metabolites, only WM features combinations (1000 bootstrap samples; 5000 permutation tests) along the fiber tract of the amygdala-PFC was a significant predictor of either with or without depressive tendency. Our findings suggested that the advanced neuroprotection may be planned before dialysis initiation, and the WM characteristics of amygdala-PFC may be a potential neuromarkers for the early diagnosis of depressive tendency in ESRD patients before dialysis initiation.

RESUMO

Objective: To explore the relationship between the quality of professional life and depression tendency of nurses. Methods: From November 2018 to January 2019, 242 nurses from some third-class A hospitals were randomly selected as the subjects. The Quality of Professional Life Scale of Nurses were used to evaluate the status of nurses' professional life quality, and the depression state of nurses was measured by Self Rating Depression Scale, and the relationship between them was analyzed. Results: The total score of professional life of nurses was (156.86±26.60) , including family work balance (24.60±4.73) , working environment (77.30±14.78) , workload (36.34±6.11) and social environment (18.62±4.21) . The total score of depression tendency of nurses was (43.76±9.50) , the overall depression tendency rate was 64.46% (156/242) , and the incidence rates of moderate and severe depression tendency were 23.55% (57/242) and 10.74% (26/242) , respectively. There was negative correlation between the total score of professional quality of life and each dimension score with depression tendency (P<0.05) ; Multiple linear regression analysis showed that high quality of professional life was the protective factor of depression tendency of nurses (P<0.001) . Conclusion: The quality of professional life of nurses is related to depression tendency, and the high quality of professional life is not prone to depression.

RESUMO

The occurrence and development of depressive symptoms were thought to be closely related to excessive attention to negative information. However, the evidences among researchers were inconsistent on whether negative emotional information could induce attention bias in depressed individuals. One possible hypothesis is that the arousal level of stimuli regulates the attention bias of depressed individuals to negative emotional stimuli. In the current study, we directly assessed the attentional inhibition of depression-tendency individuals to different arousal levels of negative emotional faces. The Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) was used to distinguish the depression-tendency group from the health group. Thirty-three participants in each group completed a simpler cue-target task that comprised four kinds of experimental conditions, in which group was an inter-subject variable, while cue validity, arousal level, and stimulus onset asynchrony were internal variables. By subtracting the reaction time under the valid cue from the reaction time under the invalid cue, we got the magnitudes of inhibition of return (IOR), which reflected the effective suppression of previously noticed irrelevant information. We found that, in health group, the IOR effect was smaller at high arousal level than at low arousal level. This means that even in the normal population, higher arousal level of negative emotional information could weaken the individual's attention inhibition ability. While in the depression-tendency group, the IOR effect only appeared at low arousal level condition, but in the high cue condition it showed the reversal pattern, that was, the cue effect. These results indicated for the first time that the attention bias of depressive individuals to negative emotional stimuli was influenced by the arousal level of stimuli, and the negative stimuli with high arousal level were more difficult to suppress.

RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the association of occupational stress with job burnout and depression tendency in workers in Internet companies. Methods: From July to November, 2016, the cross-sectional method was used to perform a questionnaire survey of 3603 workers in 35 Internet companies in Beijing, Shandong Province, and Zhejiang Province in China, and the association of occupational stress with job burnout and depression tendency was analyzed. Results: Among these workers, 63.70% had occupational stress with job demand-control (JDC) and 34.60% had occupational stress with effort-reward imbalance (ERI) ; among the workers engaged in sales, 75.63% had occupational stress with JDC and 62.70% had occupational stress with ERI. Of all workers, 10.69% had job burnout, and among the workers engaged in sales, 22.12% had job burnout. Of all workers, 18.79% had the tendency of moderate-to-severe or severe depression, and among the workers engaged in sales, 46.13% had such tendency. Occupational stress with JDC increased the risk of job burnout and depression (odds ratio[OR]=3.52 and 1.85, P<0.05) , and occupational stress with ERI also increased the risk of job burnout and depression (OR=8.24 and 5.59, P<0.05) . In addition, irregular diet and insomnia were risk factors for job burnout; age ≥41 years, low income, sales position, working time spent on the screen ≥10 hours/day, insomnia, and poor self-evaluated health status were risk factors for depression tendency. Conclusion: Occupational stress with JDC and ERI increases the risk of job burnout and depression tendency, and among the workers in Internet companies, the workers engaged in sales have the most severe occupational stress, job burnout, and depression tendency.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the relationship among perceived organizational support, job burnout and depressive tendency in nursing staffs. METHODS: A total of 807 nurses from 7 municipal hospitals in Zhengzhou City,Henan Province were selected as the study subjects by multi-stage cluster random sampling method. The questionnaires of Perceived Organizational Support,Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey and Center for Epidemiological Survey-Depression Scale were used to conduct the survey. RESULTS: The total scores of perceived organizational support and job burnout were( 69. 3 ± 18. 5) and( 36. 3 ± 13. 7) respectively. The median of the total score of depression tendency was 17. 00. The total score of nurses' perceived organizational support was negatively correlated with the total scores of job burnout and depression tendency( P < 0. 01). The total score of job burnout was positively correlated with the total score of depression tendency( P < 0. 01). The degree of explanations for the change of perceived organizational support and job burnout on depression tendency were 9. 1% and 13. 1%,respectively. CONCLUSION: Perceived organizational support and job burnout play important roles in predicting depression tendency. Job burnout plays a mediating role in the relationship between perceived organizational support and depression tendency.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: The Internet has become a platform to express individual moods/feelings of daily life, where authors share their thoughts in web blogs, micro-blogs, forums, bulletin board systems or other media. In this work, we investigate text-mining technology to analyze and predict the depression tendency of web posts. METHODS: In this paper, we defined depression factors, which include negative events, negative emotions, symptoms, and negative thoughts from web posts. We proposed an enhanced event extraction (E3) method to automatically extract negative event terms. In addition, we also proposed an event-driven depression tendency warning (EDDTW) model to predict the depression tendency of web bloggers or post authors by analyzing their posted articles. RESULTS: We compare the performance among the proposed EDDTW model, negative emotion evaluation (NEE) model, and the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders-based depression tendency evaluation method. The EDDTW model obtains the best recall rate and F-measure at 0.668 and 0.624, respectively, while the diagnostic and statistical manual of mental disorders-based method achieves the best precision rate of 0.666. The main reason is that our enhanced event extraction method can increase recall rate by enlarging the negative event lexicon at the expense of precision. Our EDDTW model can also be used to track the change or trend of depression tendency for each post author. The depression tendency trend can help doctors to diagnose and even track depression of web post authors more efficiently. CONCLUSIONS: This paper presents an E3 method to automatically extract negative event terms in web posts. We also proposed a new EDDTW model to predict the depression tendency of web posts and possibly help bloggers or post authors to early detect major depressive disorder.
