Abstract Mining is vital for human sustenance and a crucial sector in the state economy. However, its impacts on the environment and biodiversity cannot be underestimated. Which are potent to the attract governments attention. Environment and wildlife are subject to the harmful impacts of mining and its related activities. In this study, districts, namely Mardan and Mohmand have been targeted with respect to mining impacts. The assessment was carried out on wildlife adversely affected by the mining sector. The fauna has been keenly observed to bring the calculated risks and threat perception of the regional wildlife. Total 9 species of mammals, 21 species of birds, were recorded in District Mardan. While in District Mohmand 2 species of mammals, 9 species of birds, and 4 species of reptiles were studied. The Study explored that mining primarily responsible for land degradation. Which lead to food and agriculture losses. Several other factors like blasting, pollution, hunting, deforestation, habitat loss was also observed. Deforestation surfaced one of the major causes for extinction of fauna in the said region. preemptive measures are needed to seize the man-made catastrophe.


Resumo A mineração é vital para o sustento humano e um setor crucial na economia do Estado. No entanto, seus impactos sobre o meio ambiente e a biodiversidade não podem ser subestimados, visto serem potentes para atrair a atenção do governo. O meio ambiente e a vida selvagem estão sujeitos aos impactos prejudiciais da mineração e de suas atividades relacionadas. Neste estudo, os distritos, nomeadamente Mardan e Mohmand, foram selecionados no que diz respeito aos impactos da mineração. A avaliação foi realizada em animais selvagens afetados negativamente pelo setor de mineração. A fauna tem sido observada atentamente para trazer os riscos calculados e a percepção de ameaça à vida selvagem regional. Um total de nove espécies de mamíferos, 21 espécies de pássaros, foi registrado no Distrito Mardan. Enquanto no Distrito Mohmand, duas espécies de mamíferos, nove espécies de pássaros e quatro espécies de répteis foram estudadas. O estudo explorou essa mineração que é principalmente responsável pela degradação do solo, acarretando perdas de alimentos e na agricultura. Vários outros fatores como explosões, poluição, caça, desmatamento, perda de habitat também foram observados. O desmatamento veio à tona como uma das principais causas de extinção da fauna da região, e tem-se que medidas preventivas são necessárias para dimensionar a catástrofe provocada pelo homem.

En 2006, el Gobierno mexicano desplegó las Fuerzas Armadas para combatir el crimen organizado en la llamada guerra contra el narcotráfico. Desde entonces, la sociedad civil ha sido víctima de asesinatos, desapariciones y torturas cometidos tanto por los grupos del crimen organizado como por las fuerzas federales y estatales que supuestamente se encuentran combatiendo a estos primeros. En este artículo se muestra el análisis del testimonio de una madre que se enfrentó a la destrucción parcial de los restos de su hijo; para ello, se utilizan tres aspectos fundamentales para guiar el estudio: la relación entre las somatizaciones y la reelaboración de la experiencia traumática de la destrucción parcial de los restos de un ser querido, la creación de zonas de silencio en torno a escenas brutales, y la función que cumple el testimonio en el proceso de simbolización de huellas traumáticas.


Resumos In 2006, the Mexican government deployed the armed forces to combat organized crime in the so-called "war against narcotrafficking". Since then, civilians have been victims o of murders, disappearances, and torture carried out both by cartels and by the federal and state forces who are supposedly fighting the former. This article presents the analysis of the narrative of a mother who faced the partial destruction of her son's remains, focusing on three fundamental aspects: the relationship between somatizations and the working trough of the traumatic experience of the destruction of a beloved's remains, the creation of zones of silence around brutal events, and the role that accounts play in the process of symbolization of traumatic traces.


En 2006, le gouvernement mexicain a déployé les forces armées pour combattre le crime organisé dans le cadre de la soi-disant guerre contre la drogue. Depuis lors, la société civile est victime d'assassinats, de disparitions et de tortures commis tant par les groupes du crime organisés que par les forces gouvernementales censées les combattre. Cet article analyse le témoignage d'une mère confrontée à la destruction partielle de la dépouille de son fils. Trois aspects fondamentaux guident l'étude: la relation entre les somatisations et la réélaboration de l'expérience traumatique, la création des zones de silence autour des scènes brutales et le rôle du témoignage dans le processus de symbolisation des traces traumatiques.


Em 2006, o governo mexicano mobilizou as forças armadas para combater o crime organizado na chamada guerra contra o narcotráfico. Desde então, a sociedade civil tem sido vítima de assassinatos, desaparecimentos e torturas cometidos tanto por grupos do crime organizado quanto por forças federais e estaduais que supostamente lutam contra eles. São três os aspetos fundamentais que orientam o estudo: a relação entre as somatizações e a reelaboração da experiência traumática da destruição dos restos mortais de uma pessoa amada, a criação de zonas de silêncio em torno das cenas brutais e o papel que o testemunho desempenha no processo de simbolização dos vestígios traumáticos.

Esta investigación aborda la protesta, los sujetos y sus características, así como las formas de acción colectiva disruptivas en el levantamiento popular de octubre de 2019 en Santiago de Chile. El objetivo es analizar y reflexionar, a partir de la constatación de la ausencia de un sujeto de la convocatoria de las protestas, el uso de las prácticas disruptivas en estas, tratando de problematizar su supuesta "espontaneidad". La metodología se basa en una perspectiva cualitativa y entrevistas en profundidad a intelectuales y actores de la protesta. A modo de conclusión, la protesta, lejos de ser "espontánea", debe interpretarse como resultado de los repertorios de acción conocidos e innovaciones, así como de redes informales de cooperación, en que la acción colectiva disruptiva fue dominante.


This research addresses the protest, the subjects and their characteristics, as well as the forms of disruptive collective action in the popular uprising of October 2019 in Santiago de Chile. The objective is to analyze and reflect about the absence of a predetermined subject calling for the protests, the use of disruptive practices in them, and discussing their presumed "spontaneity". The methodology is based on a qualitative perspective and indepth interviews with academics and participants in the protest. My argument is that the protest, far from being "spontaneous", should be interpreted as the result of known repertoires of action and innovations, as well as informal networks of cooperation in which disruptive collective action was dominant.

This theoretical paper discusses three variations on the death drive, developed by Sándor Ferenczi. We present a brief history of the use of the term death drive among the first psychoanalysts and argue that, as early as 1913, the notion is used by Ferenczi and serves as a conceptual background for his thinking. During the 1920s, Ferenczi revisits part of this concept, focusing on what he identifies as a primacy of self-destruction. The destructive drive gains an adaptive character responsible for the mortification of parts of the individual, in exchange for the survival of the whole. In this variation, the tendency to regress also arises as the self-destruction drive and the acceptance of unpleasure involves a psychic "reckoning-machine." In the final variation, left unfinished, the death drive at times receives new names, like drive for "conciliation," and at others, the very idea of the death drive is criticized.

Several diseases have been reported as affecting endangered wild sea turtle population worldwide, including spirorchiidiasis. This parasitic infection results in serious circulatory disorders in sea turtles, as well as tissue damage due to the presence of spirorchiids eggs. However, few reports of organs severely affected by tissue replacement caused by granulomatous inflammatory processes due to spirorchiidiasis in sea turtles are available. In this regard, this study describes massive lesions in 16 juvenile green turtles from southeastern Brazil presenting no other detectable diseases or injuries, associated to parasitic compression of air spaces, parasitic thyroid atrophy, parasitic encephalic compression and parasitic splenic lymphoid depletion. These rare injuries were categorized as extremely severe, affecting most spirorchiidiasis-infected organs. Spirorchiidiasis was, thus, noted herein as capable of causing a variety of lethal injuries to vital or extremely important organs in sea turtles. Spirorchiidiasis should, therefore, also be considered a potential cause of death in stranded green sea turtle monitoring efforts.

The Indian crested porcupine (Hystrix indica) is a vertebrate pest of agricultural lands and forest. The study was aimed to report the damage to local crops by the Indian crested porcupine (Hystrix indica) in the Muzaffarabad District. A survey was conducted to identify the porcupine-affected areas and assess the crop damage to the local farmers in district Muzaffarabad Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) from May 2017 to October 2017. Around 19 villages were surveyed, and a sum of 191 semi-structured questionnaires was distributed among farmers. Crop damage was found highest in village Dhanni where a porcupine destroyed 175 Kg/Kanal of the crops. Regarding the total magnitude of crop loss, village Danna and Koomi kot were the most affected areas. More than half (51.8%) of the respondents in the study area suffered the economic loss within the range of 101-200$, and (29.8%) of the people suffered losses in the range of 201-300$ annually. Among all crops, maize (Zea mays) was found to be the most damaged crop ranging between 1-300 Kg annually. In the study area, porcupine also inflicted a lot of damages to some important vegetables, including spinach (Spinacia oleracea), potato (Solanum tuberosum) and onion (Allium cepa). It was estimated that, on average, 511Kg of vegetables are destroyed by porcupine every year in the agricultural land of Muzaffarabad. It was concluded that the Indian crested porcupine has a devastating effect on agriculture which is an important source of income and food for the local community. Developing an effective pest control strategy with the help of the local government and the Wildlife department could help the farmers to overcome this problem.(AU)


O porco-espinho de crista indiano (Hystrix indica) é uma praga vertebrada de terras agrícolas e florestais. No estudo atual, o dano às plantações locais pelo porco-espinho de crista indiano (Hystrix indica) foi relatado pela primeira vez no distrito de Muzaffarabad. O estudo foi projetado para investigar a perda econômica causada pelo porco espinho de crista indiano (Hystrix indica) nos distritos de Muzaffarabad, Azad Jammu e Caxemira (AJK) de maio de 2017 a outubro de 2017. Mais da metade (51,8%) dos entrevistados na área de estudo sofreu perdas econômicas na faixa de 101-200 $, e 29,8% das pessoas sofreram perdas na faixa de 201-300 $ anualmente. Entre todas as culturas, o milho (Zea mays) foi considerado a cultura mais danificada, variando entre 1-300 kg anualmente. Na área de estudo, o porco-espinho também causou muitos danos a alguns vegetais importantes, incluindo espinafre (Spinacia oleracea), batata (Solanum tuberosum) e cebola (Allium cepa). Estimou-se que, em média, 511 kg de vegetais são destruídos pelo porco-espinho todos os anos nas terras agrícolas de Muzaffarabad. Concluiu-se que o porco-espinho de crista indiano tem um efeito devastador na agricultura, que é importante fonte de renda e alimento para a comunidade local. O desenvolvimento de uma estratégia eficaz de controle de pragas com a ajuda do governo local e do Departamento de Vida Selvagem pode ajudar os agricultores a superar esse problema.

In the valuable orchid genus Cypripedium, the section Irapeana consists of a distinctive group of Mesoamerican species that is formed by Cypripedium dickinsonianum Hágsater, C. irapeanum Lex., and C. molle Lindl. All lady slipper orchids exhibit different distributions and abundances. Data analysis that used herbarium accessions and field investigations indicated that the habitats of these three species have been dramatically reduced. Prospecting for suitable habitats based on climatic, vegetation, and soil parameters allows us to predict potential distributions. Conservation strategies, such as ex situ propagation by asymbiotic and symbiotic approaches, have indicated that the culture media used are a determining factor for seedling development. Mycorrhizal isolates play a main role in the compatibility and further development of germinated seeds. The fungi isolated from adult plants belong to two different families, which makes it possible that widely distributed C. irapeanum populations will be fungal-specific as well as restricted for C. molle. Root mycorrhization patterns occur high on the secondary roots. In contrast with other species of the genus, in situ germination can occur over a short period of two months, but we have documented periods as long as ten years. Cypripedium is a highly problematic genus for ex situ conservation because the germination requirements and cultures are poorly documented, and there is great urgency for in situ conservation to develop strategies for identifying hotspot habitats and actualize the protection status to avoid extinction of this genus.

Phenylalanine (Phe) is an amino acid that has been identified in carbonaceous meteorites; its formation mechanism in space is unknown, and its radioresistance has been the subject of investigation. This work aims at studying, in the laboratory, the Phe radiolysis by cosmic analogues. The Phe destruction rate, at 300 K, is measured for H, He, and N ion beam irradiation in the 0.5 to 2 kinetic MeV range. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy was employed to monitor the molecular degradation as a function of fluence. The Phe apparent destruction cross-section, σapd, which includes radiolysis and sputtering processes, is determined to be proportional to the electronic stopping power, Se. The measured parameter D0 = 14.3 ± 2.2 eV/molec in the relationship, and σdap = Se/D0 is interpreted as the mean absorbed dose necessary to dissociate or eject a Phe molecule. The Phe half-life in the interstellar medium is predicted to be about 10 million years, H+ ions the main destructive cosmic ray constituent.

BACKGROUND: Systemic histoplasmosis is a disease of high morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. Patients with AIDS get the infection through inhalation of spores, triggering a primary lung infection with a subsequent hematogenous spread to multiple organs, including the skin. Tissue necrosis have been documented in cutaneous histoplasmosis with multiple clinical manifestations that mimic other diseases. CASE PRESENTATION: We report the case of nasal cartilage destruction associated to cutaneous histoplasmosis in AIDS. A 24-year-old man, resident in Ecuadorian coast, with a history of HIV for 7 years without any treatment. In the last 3 months, he has been presenting a molluscum-like lesions on his nasal bridge with subsequent dissemination to the trunk and extremities. He was admitted to the emergency department for dyspnoea, cough, and malaise. Due to his respiratory failure, he was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with mechanical ventilation. Physical examination reveals a crusted surface ulcer that involves the nose and cheeks, associated with erythematous papules, some with a crusted surface which are spread to the face, trunk, and upper limbs. The patient has a specific skin involvement with a butterfly-like ulcer appearance and destruction of the upper and lower lateral cartilage of the nose. At admission CD4 cell count was 11/mm3 with a HIV viral load of 322,908 copies. Mycological cultures identified Histoplasma capsulatum. A treatment with highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) was stablished, associated with liposomal amphotericin B at a dose of 3 mg/kg/day and itraconazole 200 mg twice a day for 12 months. CONCLUSIONS: Cutaneous histoplasmosis is a rare manifestation of pulmonary histoplasmosis in patients with AIDS. The cutaneous manifestations included papules, nodules, plaques, and ulcers. A histology examination is required to rule out other fungal or parasitic infections. Treatment includes highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART), amphotericin B liposomal and itraconazole, the latest for at least 12 months.

Based on statistical data reported in 2020, cancer was responsible for approximately 10 million deaths. Furthermore, 17 million new cases were diagnosed worldwide. Nanomedicine and immunotherapy have shown satisfactory clinical results among all scientific and technological alternatives for the treatment of cancer patients. Immunotherapy-based treatments comprise the consideration of new alternatives to hinder neoplastic proliferation and to reduce adverse events in the body, thereby promoting immune destruction of diseased cells. Additionally, nanostructured systems have been proven to elicit specific immune responses that may enhance anti-tumor activity. A new generation of nanomedicines, based on biomimetic and bioinspired systems, has been proposed to target tumors by providing immunomodulatory features and by enabling recovery of human immune destruction capacity against cancer cells. This review provides an overview of the aspects and the mechanisms by which nanomedicines can be used to enhance clinical procedures using the immune modulatory responses of nanoparticles (NPs) in the host defense system. We initially outline the cancer statistics for conventional and new treatment approaches providing a brief description of the human host defense system and basic principles of NP interactions with monocytes, leukocytes, and dendritic cells for the modulation of antitumor immune responses. A report on different biomimetic and bioinspired systems is also presented here and their particularities in cancer treatments are addressed, highlighting their immunomodulatory properties. Finally, we propose future perspectives regarding this new therapeutic strategy, highlighting the main challenges for future use in clinical practice.

The endothelium is a single cell layer of the vessel wall and a key regulator of blood flow in vascular beds. Local and systemic pathologies have been associated with alterations in endothelial function. However, targeting the endothelium with vasoconstrictor or vasodilator drugs is often accompanied by systemic effects. Here, we evaluated a liposome-microbubble delivery system as a vascular hydrophilic agonist carrier. Phenylephrine (Phe) or acetylcholine (Ach)-loaded liposomes were conjugated to microbubbles. The drug release was triggered by ultrasound (US), and the vascular response was assessed in rat aortic rings using an isolated organ chamber. Aortic rings incubated with Phe-liposome-microbubble conjugate, exposed to US showed a marked contractile response (0.79 ± 0.04 g) compared to empty liposomes conjugated to microbubbles, aortic rings exposed only to US, and Phe-liposome-microbubble conjugate without US exposure that elicited a minimal or no response. Expressed as %, contractile responses were 85.24 ± 4.31% and 12.62 ± 3.23% for Phe-Chol-liposome-microbubble conjugate and empty Chol-liposome-microbubble conjugate exposed to US, respectively. Addition of 1 × 10-5 M Ach to pre-contracted aortic rings decreased the contraction response from 1 to 0.21 g. The addition of Ach-liposome conjugate and exposure to US decreased the contraction response to 0.32 g. Additionally, the ED50 values for Phe and Ach released by US from liposome-microbubble conjugates were 3.6 × 10-8 M ± 2.8 × 10-9 M for Phe and 2.0 × 10-8 M ± 1.8 × 10-9 M. In conclusion, we evaluated a hybrid delivery system that consisted of loaded liposomes conjugated to microbubbles to deliver and release vascular agonists using UMMD.

The purpose of this research is the calculation of the exergy destruction of the single-flash and double-flash cycles of a geothermal power plant located on the ladder of the 233 m Cerro Prieto volcano, on the alluvial plain of the Mexicali Valley, Mexico. The methodology developed in this research presents thermodynamic models for energy and exergy flows, which allows determining the contribution of each component to the total exergy destruction of the system. For the case-base, the results indicate that for the single-flash configuration the efficiency of the first and second law of thermodynamics are 0.1888 and 0.3072, as well as the highest contribution to the total exergy destruction is provided by the condenser. For the double-flash configuration, the efficiency of the first and second law of thermodynamics are 0.3643 and 0.4983. The highest contribution to the total exergy destruction is provided by the condenser and followed by the low-pressure turbine.

O presente trabalho parte da ideia de caracterizar o disruptivo no pensamento freudiano. Como ponto de partida, toma o trabalho de 1914, À guisa de introdução ao narcisismo, por reconhecer nele um momento primeiro de ruptura na teoria pulsional vigente: libido do Eu versus libido objetal. Durante o trajeto, sinaliza marcas desse processo e direciona-se para o disruptivo que se instala em termos metapsicológicos, com maior consistência, com o advento da pulsão de morte. A pulsão de destruição, como agente do disruptivo em sua relação com Eros, desenhará caminhos que permitem vislumbrar destinos tanáticos ou criativos. Com essa concepção metapsicológica como indicador, busca-se refletir a respeito da interação entre o disruptivo da pandemia viral e o disruptivo da virulência do racismo e seus desdobramentos criativos na efetivação, pelo coletivo da humanidade, de posturas antirracistas. Tal contexto alberga uma interrogação pontual: como a pandemia, em seu efeito disruptivo, está relacionada com a percepção em toda a sua sensorialidade, em grande escala, de norte a sul, daquilo que mantinha-se parcialmente silencioso e invisível, o racismo? The present article begins from the idea of characterize the disruptive in the freudian's thoughts. Is takes as a starter point the work of 1914, On narcissism: an introduction, for recognize it as a first moment of rupture in the current drive theory: self libido versus object libido. In this path, it signals marks of this process and orientate to the disruptive that develops in metapsychological terms, with great consistency, with the advent of the death drive. The destruction drive, as a disruptive agent, in its relation with Eros, will draw paths that allow glimpse its tanatic fate or criative fate. From this metapsychological conception, as an indicator, seeks to reflect the interaction between the disruptive in the viral pandemic and the disruptive in the racism virulence, and its criatives developments in the effectuation of anti-racist postures, by the humanity collective. Context that holds an punctual interrogation: how the pandemic, with its disruptive effect, is related with the perception in all its sensoriality, in big scale, from north to south, with what was, in part, silence and inivisible: the racism? El objetivo inicial del presente trabajo es caracterizar lo disruptivo en el pensamiento freudiano. Se toma como punto de partida el célebre texto de 1914 Introducción del narcisismo por reconocer en él un primer momento de ruptura en la teoría pulsional vigente hasta ese momento, que distinguía la libido del Yo y la libido de objeto. En ese recorrido, se irán señalando marcas de dicho proceso orientándose hacia lo disruptivo, que se instalará con mayor consistencia, en términos metapsicológicos, con el advenimiento de la pulsión de muerte. La pulsión de destrucción, como agente de lo disruptivo, en su relación con Eros, trazará caminos que permiten vislumbrar sus destinos tanáticos o creativos. Tomando esa concepción metapsicológica como indicador, busco reflejar la interacción entre lo disruptivo de la pandemia viral y lo disruptivo de la virulencia del racismo, así como sus desdoblamientos creativos en la adopción de posturas antirracistas por parte del colectivo humano. En este contexto se plantea una interrogación puntual: ¿cómo la pandemia, con su efecto disruptivo, está relacionada con la percepción en toda su sensorialidad, en gran escala, de norte a sur, de aquello que, en parte, se mantenía silencioso e invisible, el racismo?

Forest fragmentation increases forest edge relative to forest interior, with lower vegetation quality common for primates in edge zones. Because most primates live in human-modified tropical forests within 1 km of their edges, it is critical to understand how primates cope with edge effects. Few studies have investigated how primates inhabiting a fragment alter their behaviour across forest edge and interior zones. Here we investigate how anthropogenic edges affect the activity and spatial cohesion of mantled howler monkeys (Alouatta palliata) at the La Suerte Biological Research Station (LSBRS), a Costa Rican forest fragment. We predicted the monkeys would spend greater proportions of their activity budget feeding and resting and a lower proportion travelling in edge compared to forest interior to compensate for lower resource availability in the edge. We also predicted that spatial cohesion would be lower in the edge to mitigate feeding competition. We collected data on activity and spatial cohesion (nearest neighbour distance; number of individuals within 5 m) in forest edge and interior zones via instantaneous sampling of focal animals. Contrary to predictions, the monkeys spent equal proportions of time feeding, resting and travelling in forest edge and interior. Similarly, there were no biologically meaningful differences in the number of individuals or the distance between nearest neighbours in the edge (1.0 individuals; 1.56 m) versus the interior (0.8 individuals; 1.73 m). Our results indicate that A. palliata at LSBRS do not adjust their activity or spatial cohesion patterns in response to anthropogenic edge effects, suggesting that the monkeys here exhibit less behavioural flexibility than A. palliata at some other sites. To develop effective primate conservation plans, it is therefore crucial to study primate species' responses to fragmentation across their geographic range.

Ventriculoperitoneal shunt placement for the treatment of hydrocephalus is one of the most common pediatric neurosurgical procedures. Complications, including infections, catheter obstruction, shunt breakdown, and hemorrhage, have been described in the literature. Occasionally, however, uncommon and devastating complications occur. We report a case of a 10-year-old female patient who at birth underwent surgical closure of lumbar myelomeningocele and placement of a CSF shunt at another center. Her neurosurgical follow-up was poor. She presented at our institution with a history of recurrent pneumonia. Control chest X-rays showed a right pulmonary infiltrate with lung retraction and mediastinal shift. Chest and brain CT scans confirmed the intrapulmonary location of the distal catheter tip and ventricular dilation. Surgical shunt revision was performed with removal of the intrapulmonary catheter and placement of a new intraperitoneal catheter. Subsequently, right pneumonectomy was performed with good postoperative recovery of the patient. Intrathoracic migration of the distal catheter of the CSF shunt is an extremely rare complication that may produce severe morbidity. To our knowledge, there have been no previous reports on extensive lung destruction secondary to intrathoracic and intrapulmonary ventriculoperitoneal shunt migration. In patients with CSF shunts and pulmonary symptoms, intrapulmonary catheter migration should be considered.

Oral carcinogenesis is a complex and multifactorial process that involves cumulative genetic and molecular alterations, leading to uncontrolled cell proliferation, impaired DNA repair and defective cell death. At the early stages, the onset of potentially malignant lesions in the oral mucosa, or oral dysplasia, is associated with higher rates of malignant progression towards carcinoma in situ and invasive carcinoma. Efforts have been made to get insights about signaling pathways that are deregulated in oral dysplasia, as these could be translated into novel markers and might represent promising therapeutic targets. In this context, recent evidence underscored the relevance of the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway in oral dysplasia, as this pathway is progressively "switched on" through the different grades of dysplasia (mild, moderate and severe dysplasia), with the consequent nuclear translocation of ß-catenin and expression of target genes associated with the maintenance of representative traits of oral dysplasia, namely cell proliferation and viability. Intriguingly, recent studies provide an unanticipated connection between active ß-catenin signaling and deregulated endosome trafficking in oral dysplasia, highlighting the relevance of endocytic components in oral carcinogenesis. This review summarizes evidence about the role of the Wnt/ß-catenin signaling pathway and the underlying mechanisms that account for its aberrant activation in oral carcinogenesis.
