RESUMO

The intersection of psychology and English teaching is profound, as the application of psychological principles not only guides specific English instruction but also elevates the overall quality of teaching. This paper takes a multimodal approach, incorporating image, acoustics, and text information, to construct a joint analysis model for English teaching interaction and psychological characteristics. The novel addition of an attention mechanism in the multimodal fusion process enables the development of an English teaching psychological characteristics recognition model. The initial step involves balancing the proportions of each emotion, followed by achieving multimodal alignment. In the cross-modal stage, the interaction of image, acoustics, and text is facilitated through a cross-modal attention mechanism. The utilization of a multi-attention mechanism not only enhances the network's representation capabilities but also streamlines the complexity of the model. Empirical results demonstrate the model's proficiency in accurately identifying five psychological characteristics. The proposed method achieves a classification accuracy of 90.40% for psychological features, with a commendable accuracy of 78.47% in multimodal classification. Furthermore, the incorporation of the attention mechanism in feature fusion contributes to an improved fusion effect.

RESUMO

The integration of sports and psychological regulation in English teaching can improve students' language skills as well as increase their interest and confidence in learning English. To investigate the implementation of classroom sports integration and psychological regulation in English language instruction. This study employed t-tests and other statistical techniques to analyse the self-efficacy data and academic performance data of students before and after the experiment. Data processing was conducted using SPSS 12.0 statistical software. A random sample of 200 freshmen majoring in English was selected from a specific university. The scale utilises a five-point scoring system, with 1 representing full compliance, 2 representing partial compliance, 3 representing minimal compliance, 4 representing partial non-compliance, and 5 representing full non-compliance. There is a positive correlation between scores and self-efficacy. In general, students with high physical self-efficacy demonstrate superior physical performance, whereas those with low physical self-efficacy exhibit poorer physical performance. The relationship is reciprocal. This suggests that having a strong belief in one's ability to succeed in physical education is associated with achieving positive learning outcomes in the subject. Additionally, achieving positive learning outcomes in physical education may also contribute to the development of a strong belief in one's ability to succeed in the subject. Incorporating psychological regulation into classroom sports has been found to be advantageous in enhancing students' technical skills and test scores, particularly among intermediate and disadvantaged students.(AU)

RESUMO

The teaching principle of "music teaching" is implemented to facilitate children's learning through play and behaviour. During classroom instruction, teachers should appropriately incorporate sports competitions to foster students' interest in sports, ensure their active participation, and facilitate the development of their athletic abilities. During the primary school stage, students experience rapid development in their physical and mental attributes. The author administered oral and written English assessments to randomly selected classes from Grade 3 to Grade 6 at South Road Primary School, which is affiliated with A University. The author selected students who scored below 60 for the attention QPT test in each grade. From this group, we selected 10 students with low, average, and high attention levels. This resulted in a total of 30 students in each grade forming the control class. We compared the QPT scores between the 30 individuals in the experimental group and the 30 individuals in the control group. The experimental class and the control class exhibited a notable disparity in academic performance across grades 3 to 6. The implementation of experimental teaching resulted in significant improvements in the attention QPT scores of both the upper and lower grades in the experimental class. The study demonstrates that sustained adherence to teaching children English through sports games can effectively enhance their attention levels. Furthermore, implementing sports game teaching aligns with children's psychological characteristics and significantly enhances their performance in English learning.(AU)

RESUMO

Oral English instruction plays a pivotal role in educational endeavors. The emergence of online teaching in response to the epidemic has created an urgent demand for a methodology to evaluate and monitor oral English instruction. In the post-epidemic era, distance learning has become indispensable for educational pursuits. Given the distinct teaching modality and approach of oral English instruction, it is imperative to explore an intelligent scoring technique that can effectively oversee the content of English teaching. With this objective in mind, we have devised a scoring approach for oral English instruction based on multi-modal perception utilizing the Internet of Things (IoT). Initially, a trained convolutional neural network (CNN) model is employed to extract and quantify visual information and audio features from the IoT, reducing them to a fixed dimension. Subsequently, an external attention model is proposed to compute spoken English and image characteristics. Lastly, the content of English instruction is classified and graded based on the quantitative attributes of oral dialogue. Our findings illustrate that our scoring model for oral English instruction surpasses others, achieving the highest rankings and an accuracy of 88.8%, outperforming others by more than 2%.

RESUMO

This study aims to investigate the effect of sports regulation on the psychological state of English students. The author administered the experimental method and SCL-90 symptom assessment to 461 students in a regional normal school. By gathering data from students at various stages of the experiment, psychological trends and emotional shifts were identified promptly to improve experimental outcomes. The questionnaire data and test results were processed and analyzed using SPSS and other statistical software. The study results indicate that the sports intervention is viable and effective in boosting pupils' mental health. To effectively protect students' physical and mental health development, colleges and universities should strengthen the publicity and construction work in this area, let students realize the true significance of sports, and encourage students to engage in sports and form healthy sports habits actively. In addition, it provides techniques and recommendations for enhancing mental health education to enhance the mental health of students at this school effectively.(AU)

RESUMO

College English courses are both instrumental and humanistic, and have become the main position for nursing students to cultivate their humanistic qualities. Integrating the spirit of Yimeng red sister-in-law into the college English teaching of nursing students reflects the new requirements of "curriculum ideology and politics" in colleges and universities, and is also an important way to implement the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating students. The integration of Yimeng red sister-in-law spirit into college English teaching can enhance the sense of mission and cultural confidence of nursing students, and promote them to form correct values and medical ethics. College English teachers should strive to explore methods and paths to integrate the spirit of Yimeng red sister-in-law into college English teaching, fully utilize the humanistic resources contained in textbooks, comprehensively display the image of Yimeng red sister-in-law through literary works, and use the second classroom to cultivate students’ ability to communicate the spirit of Yimeng red sister-in-law in English.

RESUMO

Artificial intelligence education will be an important part of information technology education in the future. It will enter the classroom and the learning life of students in various forms. The modern teaching media used in artificial intelligence courses at universities include some conventional teaching courseware, multimedia videos, and tool software. Some teaching media are unique to artificial intelligence, such as smart software, smart devices, and smart websites. The existing cross-cultural competence dimensions and evaluation scales were theoretically explained with factor analysis by comparing and selecting comprehensive evaluation methods in the work. Its main advantages were as follows: simple mathematical models and easy operation. The construction of a comprehensive evaluation model for college students' cross-cultural competence included the principles and ideas of model construction, the methods and steps of model construction, and model calculations. The survey results showed that the four-level scores of all samples had a significant positive correlation with foreign cultural knowledge, attitudes, and cross-cultural communication skills at 0.01 level (bilateral) and 0.05 (bilateral), respectively.

RESUMO

Mental health stigma undermines collaborative work and creates communication breakdowns for students to face real-world challenges. Moreover, project-based English learning in East-Asian nations is a significant challenge for advancing students' effective learning, while students lack mental health self-awareness. Unawareness causes distractions and results in learning inefficiencies. Furthermore, without institutional support (IS) achieving effective learning could never be possible. Therefore, this study investigates the relationships between project-based learning (PBL) and mental health awareness (MHA) with effective English language teaching among university students in China. We also tested the moderation effect of IS in the relationships between PBL and MHA with effective English language learning (EEL). Using the purposive sampling technique, we collected valid responses from 713 students studying English as a foreign language in universities and colleges in Harbin, China. The findings interestingly supported the direct hypotheses between PBL and EEL, as well as MHA and EEL. Moreover, the moderating role of IS established a significant effect on both PBL and EEL, as well as MHA and EEL, respectively. Policymakers, practitioners, and academicians should understand that integrating PBL as an inclusive pedagogy method with proper IS may enhance effective learning; however, it will consume more time.

RESUMO

This study investigates the influences of action research on primary school English instruction from five dimensions in the classroom, viz., types of questions, language errors, gestures, facial expressions, and interpersonal distance. Four English teachers' 9 real classroom teaching videos before and after action research are collected and annotated by using ELAN software. The results show that primary school English teachers in Chinese rural areas prefer closed questions to open questions; They make some language errors; Deictic gestures are the most common gestures used, while metaphoric gestures, beat gestures and iconic gestures are rare; Teachers have the same preference for three types of facial expressions, and teachers' serious expressions accounts for most of the time; They seldom keep an intimate distance or personal distance from their students. Second, Action research is effective to motivate teachers in rural areas, who make great progress in all five dimensions after AR: more open questions are asked; pragmatic errors and grammatical errors are reduced; deictic gestures increase; apathetic decrease, and more intimate distance is exhibited in the interpersonal distance dimension. Third, teacher's English teaching competence is partly transferrable to her future professional development, and this is also the long-lasting effect of AR.

RESUMO

The aim is to deeply understand the current situation of College English Teaching (CET). By consulting the theories of Deep Learning (DL) and Edge Computing (EC), this work designs a Questionnaire Survey (QS) to understand the current situation of college English learning and teaching. Then, Adaptive Deep Learning (ADL) and EC are introduced into CET. Finally, the corresponding conclusions and suggestions are drawn. Specifically, the purpose and time of college students' vocabulary learning are investigated. The results suggest that students' English vocabulary learning is shallow. They have not really mastered the meaning and usage of vocabulary. Simultaneously, teachers' vocabulary teaching methods are analyzed from three aspects: root affixes, vocabulary collocation, or repeated reading and memory. The teaching method is excellent from the teacher's perspective but far from perfect from the students' perspective. Introducing ADL and EC into CET enhances students' class concentration time, homework submission efficiency, and academic performance. More than half of the students believe that the new teaching method introducing ADL and EC can make them more confident and motivated in English learning. Therefore, it has great reference significance for applying ADL and EC in CET.

RESUMO

It is an inevitable process of current social development to apply the motivational theory of educational psychology in the field of English teaching. The current method is to start with the introduction of new language teaching projects by teachers, and then use excellent training to make students master the knowledge they have learned. The flaw is that such teaching is simplistic in the present. In order to solve these problems, this paper proposes an improved SPOB optimization algorithm, aiming to study the application of motivation theory in educational psychology to current English teaching. By using the formula definition for the excellent and poor students in the improved SPBO optimization algorithm and the criterion function in the cluster analysis, the application process of motivational design model in oral English teaching is explored through the application of SPBO algorithm. And through the investigation and analysis of the experimental process of the application of incentive design model in oral English teaching, the results showed that 77.2% of teachers chose interest incentives, 34.8% of teachers chose cooperation-competition incentives, and 32.6% of teachers chose emotional incentives.

RESUMO

Demotivation is one of the important factors causing students' failure in learning a language. To explore the psychological and cognitive factors causing college students' demotivation to learn English in China's universities and to investigate the relations among these internal factors, this study constructed a shopping cart model by applying grounded theory method and tested the model by using structural equation modeling. This study found three paths underlying students' demotivation to learn English, originating from large discrepancy between students' actual and required positioning of English learning, low required positioning of English learning and low value of English learning in students' minds. Based on these findings, this study gave some pedagogical implications for English teaching.

RESUMO

With the development of world globalization, English plays an increasingly important role. English is the international language used in foreign communication, so English learning has become more and more important. Therefore, the innovation and research of College English teaching has become a hot spot in the field of education. Relevant research results are also constantly updated, but there are no ideas and methods that can adapt to the actual teaching. To improve students' English level and cultivate excellent English talents for the development of the country, the CBI teaching concept aims to completely combine language learning with subject learning, so as to get rid of the artificial separation between language teaching and subject teaching in most educational backgrounds. This study constructs and implements the college English teaching model based on CBI teaching concept from an empirical perspective. In the teaching, it focuses on the theme content that students are interested in. Teachers take explaining the theme content as a means, use content teaching to drive language teaching, and realize the purpose of language teaching. The experimental class adopts CBI teaching concept, the blank class adopts ordinary teaching methods, and the control class adopts task-based teaching concept. Through one semester of teaching, the teaching effect of three classes is evaluated. Under the evaluation of teachers, the full score of CBI teaching effectiveness is 66. Under the evaluation of students, the full score of CBI teaching effectiveness is 64, which is the highest. This shows that the effectiveness of teaching under CBI is higher than task-based teaching and general teaching. The results showed that the average score of the pretest control class was the highest, the average score of the middle test experimental class was the highest, an increase of 4.7 points, and the average score of the post-test experimental class was the highest, an increase of 112.2 points, whereas the scores of the control group and the blank group were 108.7 and 104.3 points, respectively. This shows that the learning effect of CBI teaching concept is higher than task-based teaching and general teaching. Therefore, college English teaching based on CBI teaching concept has high effect, can improve students' English knowledge and ability, and can be promoted in college English teaching.

RESUMO

In the process of globalization, the English language not only represents British and American culture, but it has also gradually become a language used all over the world, and it has become essential for many people to learn it as a second language. Education is the century business of a nation. At the same time, to meet the needs of E generation, I generation, and touch-screen generation students, teachers are increasingly undertaking multimedia-integrated curriculum design and instruction. Teachers are no longer knowledge providers, but they are expected to provide students with a personalized learning model and guide and support them in a timely manner. This study included a sample of business students from Guilin University of technology. A total of 216 students participated in a 16-week (3 h per week, a total of 48 h) course of experimental teaching. The research results showed that 1. multimedia assisted, song integrated English teaching affected learning interest, 2. That multimedia assisted, song integrated English teaching affected learning outcomes, and 3. That learning interest had significantly positive effects on learning outcome. Based on these results, this study contributes to improving college students' English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills via multimedia teaching, which also facilitated their interest and ability to achieve the learning outcomes.

RESUMO

Under the wave of globalization, the ties between countries are getting closer and closer. Based on the differences in the languages of different countries, the importance of English as a universal language is becoming more and more prominent. In the past, English teaching was mainly taught by teachers and students. This mode of English learning is more of theoretical teaching, which has little effect on improving English ability. In the era of intelligence, with the upgrading of technology and the renewal of ideas, interactive English teaching is more accepted by people and becomes a new solution for English teaching. Studying English teaching from the perspective of social cognition, this paper proposes to realize human-computer interaction with the help of advanced science and technology, create an interactive teaching environment, and realize interactive learning in an English environment. This paper designed a control experiment of the experimental group and the control group to verify the impact of human-computer interaction teaching on students' English performance and investigated students' performance and teachers' feelings and their related opinions on human-computer interaction learning. The experimental results of this paper show that human-computer interactive English teaching can help to enhance students' interest in English learning and improve English expression significantly.

RESUMO

Relevant research shows teachers' "psychological power" plays a more essential role in promoting their professional development compared with the powers provided by various external factors, and it is therefore held that exploring college English teachers' individual psychological power is of great significance. To this end, this study investigated college English teachers' psychological empowerment (CETPE) via the development and validation of CETPE's scale. Based on our literature review on psychological empowerment and analysis of teachers professional development's status quo, we made a working definition of CETPE as a system involving perception of their occupation, sense of competence, experiencing of autonomy, judgment of their impact and understanding of their status. In our study, firstly the literature review and the interview with 17 college English teachers were adopted to conceptualize the dimensions of CETPE, and an exploratory factor analysis of data was conducted from 227 college English teachers and then the subsequent confirmatory factor analysis of data collected from another sample of 1030 generated 15 items belonging to five factors. The findings reveal that CETPE is systematically composed of teachers' positive perception and experience of work meaningfulness, teaching autonomy, occupational competence, professional impact and social status. This study provides a new path for teachers' professional development via strengthening their intrinsic driving force and thus helps improve the college English teaching effects.

RESUMO

The outbreak of COVID-19 has brought drastic changes to English teaching as it has shifted from the offline mode before the pandemic to the online mode during the pandemic. However, in the post-pandemic era, there are still many problems in the effective implementation of the process of English teaching, leading to the inability of achieving better results in the quality and efficiency of English teaching and effective cultivation of students' practical application ability. In recent years, English speaking has attracted the attention of experts and scholars. Therefore, this study constructs an interactive English-speaking practice scene based on a virtual character. A dual-modality emotion recognition method is proposed that mainly recognizes and analyzes facial expressions and physiological signals of students and the virtual character in each scene. Thereafter, the system adjusts the difficulty of the conversation according to the current state of students, toward making the conversation more conducive to the students' understanding and gradually improving their English-speaking ability. The simulation compares nine facial expressions based on the eNTERFACE05 and CAS-PEAL datasets, which shows that the emotion recognition method proposed in this manuscript can effectively recognize students' emotions in interactive English-speaking practice and reduce the recognition time to a great extent. The recognition accuracy of the nine facial expressions was close to 90% for the dual-modality emotion recognition method in the eNTERFACE05 dataset, and the recognition accuracy of the dual-modality emotion recognition method was significantly improved with an average improvement of approximately 5%.

RESUMO

This non-experimental study employed three questionnaires adopted from and validated by prior studies. To carry out the study, an electronic survey created through Wenjuanxing, a computer program for conducting an online survey in China, was employed and convenience sampling technique was used. Guided by the control-value theory of educational psychology, as well as the broaden-and-build theory and the well-being theory of Positive Psychology, this questionnaire study investigated 880 non-English major freshmen' foreign language enjoyment (FLE), foreign language class anxiety (FLCA), and foreign language boredom (FLB) in online English courses, as well as their correlations. Also measured were their joint predictive effects on the general and domain-specific learning outcomes of online English classrooms (reading-to-writing group and speaking group). With statistical analysis carried out by SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 23.0, the results showed that: (1) learners had relatively high levels of FLE and FLCA, but a medium level of FLB; (2) a small negative correlation was found between students' FLE and FLCA, a medium to high negative correlation between FLE and FLB, and a small to medium positive correlation between FLCA and FLB; FLE has a significant positive correlation with learners' actual performance and self-perceived performance, while FLCA and FLB have a significant negative correlation with both; and (3) After entering the same regression model, all three emotions have a significant predictive effect on learners' self-perceived performance while only FLE and FLCA had a significant predictive effect on their actual performance in the online context. Domain-specifically, the reading-and-writing group demonstrated similar trends while there were no significant correlations between emotions and actual performance in the speaking group. The findings can provide pedagogical implications for online foreign language teaching and theoretical contribution to foreign language emotion research.
