RESUMO

Mycotoxin contamination poses a significant problem in developing countries, particularly in northern Pakistan's fluctuating climate. This study aimed to assess aflatoxin contamination in medicinal and condiment plants in Upper Dir (dry-temperate) and Upper Swat (moist-temperate) districts. Plant samples were collected and screened for mycotoxins (Aflatoxin-B1 and Aflatoxin-B-2). Results showed high levels of AFB-1 (11,505.42 ± 188.82) as compared to AFB-2 (846 ± 241.56). The maximum contamination of AFB-1 in Coriandrum sativum (1154.5 ± 13.43 ng to 3328 ± 9.9 ng) followed by F. vulgare (883 ± 9.89 ng to 2483 ± 8.4 ng), T. ammi (815 ± 11.31 ng to 2316 ± 7.1 ng), and C. longa (935.5 ± 2.12 ng to 2009 ± 4.2 ng) while the minimum was reported in C. cyminum (671 ± 9.91 ng to 1995 ± 5.7 ng). Antifungal tests indicated potential resistance in certain plant species (C. cyminum) while A. flavus as the most toxins contributing species due to high resistance below 80% (54.2 ± 0.55 to 79.5 ± 2.02). HPLC analysis revealed hydroxyl benzoic acid (5136 amu) as the dominant average phytochemical followed by phloroglucinol (4144.31 amu) with individual contribution of 8542.08 amu and 12,181.5 amu from C. cyaminum. The comparison of average phytochemicals revealed the maximum concentration in C. cyminum (2885.95) followed by C. longa (1892.73). The findings revealed a statistically significant and robust negative correlation (y = - 2.7239 × + 5141.9; r = - 0.8136; p < 0.05) between average mycotoxins and phytochemical concentrations. Temperature positively correlated with aflatoxin levels (p < 0.01), while humidity had a weaker correlation. Elevation showed a negative correlation (p < 0.05), while geographical factors (latitude and longitude) had mixed correlations (p < 0.05). Specific regions exhibited increasing aflatoxin trends due to climatic and geographic factors.

A large proportion of patients with sickle cell disease (SCD) identify as Black or African American (AA). Social bias and stigma in healthcare outcomes for children with SCD are impossible to explore without considering the impact of racial/cultural identity, socioeconomic status (SES), and geography. It is important to understand the current influences of social movements, expanded health insurance coverage, and telehealth on these variables when considering healthcare outcomes for patients with SCD. The objective of this study was to determine the roles of racial identity, SES, and geography in healthcare outcomes for the pediatric population of children with SCD in the United States (US). This study is a scoping review following Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. The databases utilized included Cochrane, CINHAL, Medline, and Nursing and Allied Health Collection, all accessed through the EBSCO Information Services. Studies met the following inclusion criteria: published in English, pediatric patients residing in the US, and published between 2017 and 2022. Search terms included "sickle cell" AND "pediatric", which were then combined with "minority" OR "racial" OR "rural" OR "urban" OR "poverty" OR "income" OR "socioeconomic status". The initial search yielded 635 unique articles, with 17 articles meeting full inclusion criteria. Overall, it was clear that there are examples of positive effects of race, low SES, and rural geographic location on positive health outcomes, though a large number of studies oscillated between showing negative associations or no association at all. Barriers to care for patients with SCD are multifaceted, making it difficult to isolate and analyze the impact of individual variables. Many studies demonstrated the significance of family, community, and institutional relationships as positive support for patients with SCD. This review highlights the need for additional research on the healthcare outcome benefits of patient/familial support groups aiming to bring together patients who share racial experience and SCD diagnosis regardless of SES and geography.

OBJECTIVE: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex disorder in which environmental and genetic factors interact modifying disease risk and course. This multicentre, case-control study involving 18 Italian MS Centres investigated MS course by ethnicity and native-country economic status in foreign-born patients living in Italy. METHODS: We identified 457 MS patients who migrated to Italy and 893 age- and sex-matched native-born Italian patients. In our population, 1225 (93.2%) subjects were White Europeans and White Northern Americans (WENA) and 89 (6.8%) patients were from other ethnical groups (OEG); 1109 (82.1%) patients were born in a high-income (HI) Country and 241 (17.9%) in a low-middle-income (LMI) Country. Medical records and patients interviews were used to collect demographic and disease data. RESULTS: We included 1350 individuals (973 women and 377 men); mean (SD) age was 45.0 (11.7) years. At onset, 25.45% OEG patients vs 12.47% WENA (p = 0.039) had > 3 STIR spine lesions. At recruitment, the same group featured mean (SD) EDSS score of 2.85 (2.23) vs 2.64 (2.28) (p = 0.044) reached in 8.9 (9.0) vs 12.0 (9.0) years (p = 0.018) and underwent 1.10 (4.44) vs. 0.99 (0.40) annual MRI examinations (p = 0.035). At disease onset, patients from LMI countries had higher EDSS score than HI patients (2.40 (1.43) vs 1.99 (1.17); p = 0.032). DISCUSSION: Our results suggested that both ethnicity and socio-economic status of native country shape MS presentation and course and should be considered for an appropriate management of patients. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study reporting on the impact of ethnicity in MS at an individual level and beyond an ecological population-perspective.

OBJECTIVE: To estimate national and provincial prevalence of obesity and excess weight in the child and adolescent population in Spain by sex and sociodemographic characteristics, and to explore sources of inequalities in their distribution, and their geographical patterns. METHODS: ENE-COVID is a nationwide representative seroepidemiological survey (68 287 participants) stratified by province and municipality size (April-June 2020). Participants answered a questionnaire which collected self-reported weight and height, that allowed estimating crude and model-based standardized prevalences of obesity and excess weight in the 10 543 child and adolescent participants aged 2-17 years. RESULTS: Crude prevalences (WHO growth reference) were higher in boys than in girls (obesity: 13.4% vs. 7.9%; excess weight: 33.7% vs. 26.0%; severe obesity: 2.9% vs. 1.2%). These prevalences varied with age, increased with the presence of any adult with excess weight in the household, while they decreased with higher adult educational and census tract average income levels. Obesity by province ranged 1.8%-30.5% in boys and 0%-17.6% in girls; excess weight ranged 15.2%-49.9% in boys and 10.8%-40.8% in girls. The lowest prevalences of obesity and excess weight were found in provinces in the northern half of Spain. Sociodemographic characteristics only partially explained the observed geographical variability (33.6% obesity; 44.2% excess weight). CONCLUSIONS: Childhood and adolescent obesity and excess weight are highly prevalent in Spain, with relevant sex, sociodemographic and geographical differences. The geographic variability explained by sociodemographic variables indicates that there are other potentially modifiable factors on which to focus interventions at different geographic levels to fight this problem.

The Anti-mullerian hormone (AMH) reference value is an important indicator of ovarian function. The main targets of this were to screen the geographical environmental factors that may influence the distribution of AMH reference values in Chinese females of childbearing age, and to further explore the geographical distribution differences of AMH reference values. We gathered the AMH data of 28,402 healthy Chinese females from 62 cities in China for this study in order to conduct a spearman regression analysis to determine the relationship between the AMH and 30 geography factors. The AMH reference value in different regions was forecasted by using a ridge regression model. The magnitude of influence from the geographical factor on different regions was analysed by geographically weighted regression. Ultimately, We were able to figure out the geographic distribution risk prediction of AMH reference values by utilizing the disjunctive Kriging method. The AMH reference value was significantly correlated with the 16 secondary indexes. The geographical distribution of AMH showed a trend of being higher in Qinghai-Tibet and Southern regions, and lower in the Northwest and Northern regions. This study lays the foundation for future investigations into the mechanism of different influencing factors on the reference value of AMH. It is suggested that such regional variations in AMH reference values be taken into account while diagnosing and treating individuals with reproductive medicine.

Background: In Spain, differences in the prevalence of obesity and excess weight according to sex and sociodemographic factors have been described at the national level, although current data do not allow to delve into geographical differences for these conditions. The aim was to estimate national and regional prevalences of adult obesity and excess weight in Spain by sex and sociodemographic characteristics, and to explore difference sources of inequalities in its distribution, as well as its geographical pattern. Method: ENE-COVID study was a nationwide representative seroepidemiological survey with 57,131 participants. Residents in 35,893 households were selected from municipal rolls using a two-stage random sampling stratified by province and municipality size (April-June 2020). Participants (77.0% of contacted individuals) answered a questionnaire which collected self-reported weight and height, as well as different socioeconomic variables, that allowed estimating crude and standardized prevalences of adult obesity and excess weight. Results: Crude prevalences of obesity and excess weight were higher in men (obesity: 19.3% vs. 18.0%; excess weight: 63.7% vs. 48.4%), while severe obesity was more prevalent in women (4.5% vs. 5.3%). These prevalences increased with age and disability, and decreased with education, census tract income and municipality size. Differences by educational level, relative census income, nationality or disability were clearly higher among women. Obesity by province ranged 13.3-27.4% in men and 11.4-28.1% in women; excess weight ranged 57.2-76.0% in men and 38.9-59.5% in women. The highest prevalences were located in the southern half of the country and some north-western provinces. Sociodemographic characteristics only explained a small part of the observed geographical variability (25.2% obesity). Conclusion: Obesity and overweight have a high prevalence in Spain, with notable geographical and sex differences. Socioeconomic inequalities are stronger among women. The observed geographical variability suggests the need to implement regional and local interventions to effectively address this public health problem.

BACKGROUND: There are significant differences in prognosis for osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, chondrosarcoma, and chordomas based on the stage at diagnosis. The five-year survival of these bone cancers varies from 75-87% at an early stage of diagnosis and falls to 27-55% at a late stage of diagnosis. PATIENTS AND METHODS: This study retrospectively evaluated the odds of stage I vs stage IV cancer at the time of diagnosis in patients with primary malignant bone tumors (osteosarcoma, chondrosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma and chordoma) diagnosed in the National Cancer Database (NCDB) between 2004 and 2018. Cross tabulations with Chi-square analysis were performed to evaluate frequencies of different socioeconomic and geographical characteristics between patients with stage I vs stage IV cancer. Multivariable binary logistic regression was performed to evaluate relationships between socioeconomic and geographical factors and the odds of stage IV cancer at the time of diagnosis. Statistical significance was set at α = 0.05. RESULTS: 8882 patients with stage I and 3063 with stage IV primary malignant bone tumors were identified. The odds of stage IV bone cancer at diagnosis are increased for patients on Medicaid (odds ratio [OR] = 1.298, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.043-1.616) or Medicare (OR = 1.795, 1.411-2.284). Odds of stage IV bone cancer at diagnosis were decreased with female sex (OR = 0.733, 0.671-0.800), private insurance (OR = 0.738, 0.601-0.905), and those treated at community cancer programs (OR = 0.542, 0.369-0.797), comprehensive cancer program (OR = 0.312, 0.215-0.452), or academic/research facilities (OR = 0.370, 0.249-0.550). No significant relationship was identified between the stage at diagnosis and race, ethnicity, Charlson-Deyo score, or education level. Stage IV cancer at diagnosis showed was proportionally lower in chondrosarcomas (17.1%) and chordomas (2.1%) than osteosarcomas (45.0%) and Ewing sarcomas (35.8%). CONCLUSION: Odds of stage IV bone cancer at diagnosis are greater with male sex, Medicaid or Medicare insurance status, or treatment at community cancer programs. Providers should have a low suspicion for additional evaluation when treating patients with symptoms of bone cancer and should be aware of these disparities when treating people in these groups. This is to the authors' knowledge the first such study conducted through the NCDB.

The biogeographical distribution of plants and animals has been extensively studied, however, the biogeographical patterns and the factors that influence bacterial communities in lakes over large scales are yet to be fully understood, even though they play critical roles in biogeochemical cycles. Here, bacterial community compositional data, geographic information, and environmental factors were integrated for 326 Chinese lakes based on previously published studies to determine the underlying factors that shape bacterial diversity among Chinese lakes. The composition of bacterial communities significantly varied among the three primary climatic regions of China (Northern China, NC; Southern China, SC; and the Tibetan Plateau, TIP), and across two different lake habitats (waters and sediments). Sediment bacterial communities exhibited significantly higher alpha-diversity and distance-decay relationships compared to water communities. The results indicate that the "scale-dependent patterns" of controlling factors, primarily influenced by geographical factors, become increasingly pronounced as the spatial scale increases. At a national scale, geographical factors exerted a dominant influence on both the water and sediment communities across all lakes, as geographical barriers restrict the dispersal of individuals. At smaller spatial scales, temperature-driven selection effects played a greater role in shaping water bacterial community variation in the NC, SC, and TIP, while geographical factors had a stronger association with sediment bacterial community variation in the lakes of the three regions. This synthesis offers novel insights into the ecological factors that determine the distribution of bacteria in Chinese lakes.

Literature shows that psychological phenomena, including values (e.g., individualism vs. collectivism), personality, and behaviors (e.g., prosocial and aggressive behavior), are geographically clustered. The effects of temperature on interpersonal and intergroup aggression have been studied by many social psychologists. To date the interactions between temperature and other geographical factors have not been addressed. This study is aiming to examine the effects of thermal demands and the moderating effects of natural geographical factors on aggressive behavior at national level. Data for 156 societies was obtained from publicly available databases. Consistent with the life-history theory, results of this study showed that aggressive behavior has a positive relationship with heat demands, and a negative relationship with cold demands. Aggressive behavior is also positively correlated with sunlight and altitude, and negatively correlated with coastline vicinity. Forest, coastline vicinity, and rainfall moderated the effect of thermal demands on aggressive behavior. In societies with more forests, with more rainfall, and closer to coastline, the negative effects of cold demands on aggressive behavior are stronger.

BACKGROUND: The incidence of different soft tissue sarcoma (STS) histotypes among ethnic and geographic populations has not been comprehensively investigated. METHODS: Data from 2013 to 2016 were obtained from national cancer registry databases in France and Taiwan. Liposarcoma (LPS), leiomyosarcoma (LMS), angiosarcoma (AS), synovial sarcoma (SS), and malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) were selected as index STSs to estimate the age-standardized incidence rates (ASRs) and other clinical features between patients. RESULTS: In total, 9398 patients (7148 from France and 2250 from Taiwan) were included. The ASRs of AS (5.4 vs. 2.8) and MPNST (2.0 vs. 1.0) were significantly higher in Taiwan; France had significantly higher ASRs for LPS (12.0 vs. 10.0), LMS (9.7 vs. 7.6), and SS (1.7 vs. 1.2). Patients in Taiwan with LMS or LPS were younger than their French counterparts. With regard to the distribution according to primary anatomic site, French patients had higher odds for extremity and truncal LMS (odds ratio [OR], 2.84; p < .001), AS (OR, 2.67; p < .001), MPNST (OR, 1.55; p = .027), and LPS (OR, 1.38; p < .001) and for breast AS (OR, 10.58; p < .001). Taiwanese patients had higher odds for liver AS (OR, 10.72; p < .001) and uterine LMS (OR, 3.21; p < .001). SS age and distribution according to primary anatomic site did not differ significantly between the French and Taiwanese populations. CONCLUSIONS: Significant differences in the incidence and clinical characteristics of index STS suggested that geographic (environmental) and ethnicity factors likely play a vital role in the pathogenesis of STS.

ObjectiveTo explore the content difference of gallic acid,protocatechuic acid,catechin,total flavonoids, and total polysaccharides in Cynomorii Herba between different producing areas and the correlation between effective components and environmental factors. MethodNinety-five batches of Cynomorii Herba samples were collected from 12 major producing areas in five provinces (autonomous regions), including Gansu,Inner Mongolia,Xinjiang,Qinghai, and Ningxia,and the geographical-climatic factors such as altitude,longitude and latitude,climate type,annual average frost-free period,annual rainfall,annual sunshine hours,annual average temperature, and annual average evaporation were recorded. The content of gallic acid,protocatechuic acid, and catechin in Cynomorii Herba was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC),and the mathematical model of the correlation between the content of chemical components and environmental factors was optimized and established. ResultPearson correlation analysis showed that protocatechuic acid content in Cynomorii Herba increased with the increase in annual average frost-free period and annual average temperature, and catechin content increased with the increase in the annual average frost-free period,annual sunshine hours, and annual average evaporation,while total polysaccharides content decreased with the increase in altitude. Redundancy analysis (RDA) showed that the annual average frost-free period, annual average evaporation,annual sunshine hours, and altitude had great influences on the content of effective components in Cynomorii Herba. Curve fitting showed that the optimal conditions for the growth of Cynomorii Herba were as follows: altitude of 800-2 000 m,annual average frost-free period of 80-110 d, annual rainfall of 110-300 mm,annual sunshine hours of 2 400-3 000 h, annual average temperature of 2.2-8.8 ℃,and annual average evaporation of 1 700-2 500 mm. ConclusionThe content of effective components in Cynomorii Herba is diverse in terms of producing areas and shows a clear response rule to environmental factors. The areas suitable for growing and artificial cultivation introduction are those with high altitude,short annual average frost-free period,low annual rainfall,large average evaporation,long sunshine hours, and low annual average temperature.

The human microbiome is expected to be a new and promising tool for classification of human epithelial materials. Vaginal fluids are one of the most common biological samples in forensic sexual assault cases, and its identification is crucial to accurately determine the nature of the case. With the development of molecular biology technologies, the concept of vaginal microflora in different physiological states, ethnic groups, and geography is constantly improved. In this study, we conducted high-throughput sequencing of the V3-V4 hypervariable regions of the 16S rRNA gene in vaginal samples from Henan, Guangdong, and Xinjiang populations, in an attempt to reveal more information about the vaginal microflora in different regions. The results showed that the bio-geographical factors might affect the relative abundance of some vaginal microflora, but there was no significant difference in the composition of dominant bacteria in the vagina, which was mainly composed of Lactobacillus and Gardnerella. However, prediction models based on the random forest algorithm suggested that we might be able to distinguish vaginal fluids from populations of different regions according to the species-level OTUs in low abundance. It is promising that microbiome-based methods could provide more personal information when being attempted to trace the origin of body fluids.

OBJECTIVE: This study examines the geographical and socioeconomic factors associated with uptake of colorectal cancer (CRC) screening (colonoscopies or faecal immunochemical test (FIT) testing). DESIGN: Secondary data analysis. SETTING: The Against Colorectal Cancer in our Community (ACCION) programme was implemented in El Paso County, Texas, to increase screening rates among the uninsured and underinsured. PARTICIPANTS: We successfully geocoded 5777 who were offered a free colonoscopy or FIT testing kit. PRIMARY OUTCOME MEASURE: Census-tract CRC screening uptake average. RESULTS: Medicare recipient mortality (ß=0.409, p-value=0.049) and % 65 years or older (ß=-0.577, p value=0.000) were significant census tract contextual factors that were associated with the prevalence of CRC screening uptake in the geographically weighted Poisson regression. Neither Latino ethnicity nor immigrant concentration were significant predictors of CRC screening uptake in the ACCION programme. Hot spot analysis demonstrated that there was a significant low-value cluster in South Central El Paso. There was a similar hot spot for % 65 years or older in this same area, suggesting that uptake was lowest in an area that had the highest concentration of older adults. CONCLUSION: The results from this study revealed not only feasibility of hot spot analysis but also its utility in geographically tracking successful CRC screening uptake in cancer prevention and intervention programmes.

RESUMO

The article presents the results of analysis of complex of potential environmental factors for alcohol consumption by population of the Russian Federation. It was revealed that the level of alcoholization of residents of certain territories of the Russian Federation is positively associated with systemic severity of indices of social and criminal tension in society. The potential physical and geographical risk factors of alcohol abuse of population are severity of Northern latitude of residence and low level of average annual air temperature and longitude of day in winter season. The content of boron, calcium and magnesium in human body are negatively and copper, manganese and nickel positively associated with alcoholization of residents of Russian regions. It should be noted that systematic accounting of environmental characteristics can predict risk of alcoholization among residents of certain territories of the Russian Federation.

Alveolar echinococcosis (AE) is a rare zoonotic disease caused by the larval stage of Echinococcus multilocularis. Despite its low world-wide prevalence, this disease shows differences in the regional distribution of cases. In the present cohort study, we analyse the distribution of AE according to environmental and geographical factors in Germany. We identified the place of residence of 591 cases of AE from the national database for AE, and georeferenced these localities in the Universal Transverse Mercator coordinate system. Data on elevation, air temperature, precipitation height and land cover were mapped out and correlated with the distribution of cases of disease during the period 1992-2018. Moran's I statistic was used for spatial autocorrelation. Differences in frequency distribution between elevation, air temperature, precipitation height and landscape feature classes were analysed with the Kruskal-Wallis test. With the multiple linear regression analysis, we determined the influences and interactions of geographical and climatic factors on the number of AE cases. The results showed a heterogeneous distribution of AE cases with a higher concentration in southern Germany than in the rest of Germany (I = 0.225517, Z = 35.8182 and p < 0.001). There was a statistically significant difference in frequency distribution between precipitation height, air temperature, elevation and landscape feature classes and AE cases in Germany (p < 0.0001). In regions with higher elevations (505-672 m), moderate average air temperatures (6.0-7.9°C) and higher precipitation rates (701-1000 mm) most AE cases were recorded. It seems, that regions with higher precipitation rates, higher elevations and moderate average air temperatures have a higher infection burden and infection conditions. It is therefore extremely important to generate greater awareness of the disease in these regions, with the aim of recognising potential cases of AE as early as possible and introducing the appropriate therapeutic measures.

Recently, the large outbreak of COVID-19 cases all over the world has whacked India with about 30,000 confirmed cases within the first 3 months of transmission. The present study used long-term climatic records of air temperature (T), rainfall (R), actual evapotranspiration (AET), solar radiation (SR), specific humidity (SH), wind speed (WS) with topographic altitude (E) and population density (PD) at the regional level to investigate the spatial association with the number of COVID-19 infections (NI). Bivariate analysis failed to find any significant relation (except SR) with the number of infected cases within 36 provinces in India. Variable Importance of Projection (VIP) through Partial Least Square (PLS) technique signified higher importance of SR, T, R and AET. However, generalized additive model fitted with the log-transformed value of input variables and applying spline smoothening to PD and E, significantly found high accuracy of prediction (R 2 = 0.89), and thus well-explained complex heterogeneity among the association of regional parameters with COVID-19 cases in India. Our study suggests that comparatively hot and dry regions in lower altitude of the Indian territory are more prone to the infection by COVID-19 transmission.

OBJECTIVES: Previous studies have shown the beneficial impacts of arts participation and cultural engagement on health outcomes. However, this engagement is socially patterned and is also possibly influenced by geographical factors. STUDY DESIGN: The aim of this study was to examine the association between geographical factors (spatial setting and neighbourhood characteristics) and arts and cultural engagement amongst adults in the UK. METHODS: Data analysed were from Understanding Society Wave 2 (2010/12) with a total sample size of 26,215. Logistic and ordinal regression was used to identify geographical predictors for the patterns of the engagement. RESULTS: Our results show that there are geographical differences in participation independent of individual demographic and socio-economic backgrounds. In particular, there was more evidence for differences in the participation based on neighbourhood characteristics (e.g. level of area deprivation). We also found some interactions between individual and geographical factors for cultural engagement but not for arts participation. CONCLUSIONS: This study reveals a geographical and individual socio-economic gradient in arts and cultural engagement. Given the health benefits of arts engagement, improving access to arts and cultural programmes geographically may potentially help to reduce health inequalities.

To explore the relationship between the geographical factors and P-R interval reference value of healthy adults, and to elucidate the geographical distribution of the P-R interval reference value in Chinese adults, to provide the basis for the standard of P-R interval reference value in different regions. The P-R interval reference value of 64,753 healthy adults in 341 cities (counties) level hospitals, research institutes, and universities in China was collected, and 15 geographical data and P-R interval reference value of healthy people were studied, and then 10 geographical factors with correlation were extracted for further analysis. Using spatial autocorrelation analysis to determine the autocorrelation of data space, using backward regression and ridge regression to construct forecast model, and the optimal prediction model is selected by comparing and evaluating the prediction effect of each model, the spatial distribution map of P-R interval reference value of Chinese healthy adults was constructed by statistical analysis. There was a significant correlation between normal reference value of adult P-R interval reference value and geographical factors. The regression model of normal reference value and geographical factors of adult P-R interval reference value was established by ridge regression analysis method: [Formula: see text] =149.2 + 0.02590X2 + 0.0005000X3 + 0.02634X5-0.05890X6 + 0.0008400X7 + 0.01606X8 + 0.2592X9-0.03638X12 + 5.888X13-0.2126X15 ± 8.6, and ArcGIS10.2. In the software interpolation method, the distribution chart of normal reference value of Chinese adult P-R interval reference value was inserted. Knowing the geographical factors of some places in China, we can use this model to estimate the P-R interval reference value in this region, and to obtain the normal P-R interval reference value between adults anywhere in China.

Native microorganisms on wine grape surface contribute to regional wine characteristics and quality. The Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in northwest China is one of the eight main wine-producing areas in China. To investigate the relationship between the microbial community structure of wine grape epidermises and environmental conditions, 16S rDNA and ITS sequences of 48 wine grape samples from four wine grape cultivars and six wine-growing regions in Xinjiang were sequenced, based on Illumina high-throughput sequencing technology. A total of 691 operational taxonomic units (OTUs) in 16 bacterial phyla and 349 OTUs in three fungal phyla were identified. Among them, Proteobacteria and Ascomycota were the predominant bacteria and fungi, respectively. Canonical correspondence analysis indicated that bacterial community diversity was largely related to altitude, latitude and longitude, while that of the fungi was closely related to altitude, dryness, frost-free period, latitude and longitude. Our results suggest that microbial community structure on the surface of wine grape is controlled primarily by geographical conditions.

BACKGROUND: The impact of distance between donor and recipient hospitals on outcomes in cadaveric kidney transplantations is unknown. We investigated the association between inter-hospital distance and outcomes in cadaveric kidney transplantations in Japan. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed 363 cadaveric kidney transplantations between 2002 and 2017 in Japan. Inter-hospital distance, graft transport time, total ischemic time (TIT), and graft survival were compared between our hospital and national transplantation cohort in Japan. Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) 1 month and 1 year after transplantation was compared between cadaveric and living-donor kidney transplantations in our hospitals. Additionally, inter-hospital distances among the seven geographical regions in Japan were assessed. RESULTS: There were 12 and 351 cadaveric kidney transplantations at our hospital and in Japan, respectively. Mean inter-hospital distance at our hospital (217 ± 121 km) was significantly longer than that of the national cohort (53 ± 80 km; P < 0.001). Mean TIT and graft survival for our hospital and national cohort were 539 ± 200 min and 91% and 491 ± 193 min and 81%, respectively. Mean eGFRs 1 year after cadaveric and living-donor transplantations at our hospitals were comparable (47 ± 16 vs. 47 ± 15 mL/min/1.73 m2). The comparison among seven regions in Japan indicated a regional difference in inter-hospital distance with an association between area (km2) and inter-hospital distance (km). CONCLUSIONS: Despite the longer inter-hospital distance at our hospital, TIT and transplant outcomes were acceptable in our cases. In addition, geographical inequity in graft allocation in Japan was suggested.
