Agendas de saúde voltadas para gays e lésbicas / Gay and lesbian health agendas

Resumo O estudo objetivou validar agendas reivindicadas por representantes de grupos homossexuais voltadas para a atenção integral à saúde de gays e lésbicas. Para isso, foi elaborada uma matriz de agendas de saúde baseada na consulta a acervo de outro estudo, composto por 25 narrativas de representantes de 16 grupos de dez capitais brasileiras. As agendas foram consideradas validadas a partir da média de pontuações igual ou superior a sete e desvio padrão igual ou inferior a dois. As agendas validadas se relacionaram às seguintes temáticas: violência física ou psicológica; atenção às lésbicas relacionada aos cânceres de útero e mama; saúde mental; capacitação de profissionais de saúde; prevenção e atenção voltadas para a Aids; reprodução assistida para lésbicas; atenção a gays relacionada ao atendimento urológico e proctológico; desenvolvimento de materiais informativos sobre a saúde em geral; e informação e tratamento das infecções sexualmente transmissíveis. Conclui-se que os movimentos de gays e lésbicas podem ser atores importantes no âmbito da saúde coletiva, não só indicando pautas a serem consideradas nas políticas e nos planejamentos voltados para a saúde de seus integrantes, podem também ser mediadores entre os profissionais de saúde e os homossexuais que buscam os cuidados desses profissionais.

Abstract The aim of this study was to validate gay and lesbian health agendas pushed by organizations representing these groups. To this end, we created a health agenda matrix based on 25 narratives of representatives from 16 different gay and lesbian groups in ten state capitals in Brazil collected in another study. Each agenda was considered to have reached consensus when the mean score was equal to or greater than seven and SD was equal to or less than two. The validated agendas addressed the following themes: physical and psychological violence; the care needs of lesbians related to uterine and breast cancer; mental health; training of health care professionals; AIDS prevention and care; assisted reproduction for lesbians; the urological and proctological care needs of gays; development of informative material on general health; and information and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. It is concluded that gay and lesbian movements are potentially important actors in the public health arena, not only proposing important issues that need to be considered in public policies and actions to improve health care for LGBT people, but also mediating between health professionals and homosexuals seeking health services.

Gay and Lesbian Health Agendas / Agendas de salud dirigidos a gays y lesbianas / Agendas de saúde voltadas para gays e lésbicas

The study aimed to validate the agendas claimed by representatives of homosexual groups aimed at providing comprehensive health care for gays and lesbians. For this, a matrix of health agendas was created, based on the consultation of a collection of another study, consisting of 25 narratives from representatives of 16 groups in ten Brazilian capitals. The agendas were considered validated from the average of scores equal to or greater than seven and standard deviation equal to or less than two. The validated agendas were related to the following themes: physical or psychological violence; attention to lesbians, related to uterine and breast cancers; mental health; training of health professionals; prevention and attention focused on AIDS; assisted reproduction for lesbians; attention to gays related to urological and proctological care; development of informational materials on general health and information and treatment of sexually transmitted infections. It is concluded that gay and lesbian movements can be important actors in the field of public health, not only indicating guidelines to be considered in policies and planning aimed at the health of their members but can also be mediators between health professionals and homosexuals who seek care from these professionals.  

El estudio tuvo como objetivo validar las agendas reivindicadas por representantes de grupos homosexuales dirigidas a brindar atención integral de salud a gays y lesbianas. Para ello, se elaboró ​​una matriz de agendas de salud, a partir de la consulta de una colección de otro estudio, que consta de 25 narrativas de representantes de 16 grupos en diez capitales brasileñas. Las agendas se consideraron validadas a partir de la media de puntuaciones iguales o superiores a siete y la desviación estándar igual o inferior a dos. Las agendas validadas se relacionaron con los siguientes temas: violencia física o psicológica; atención a lesbianas, relacionada con cánceres de útero y mama; salud mental; formación de profesionales sanitarios; prevención y atención centrada en el SIDA; reproducción asistida para lesbianas; atención a gays relacionada con la atención urológica y proctológica; desarrollo de materiales informativos sobre salud general e información y tratamiento de infecciones de transmisión sexual. Se concluye que los movimientos de gays y lesbianas pueden ser actores importantes en el campo de la salud pública, no solo indicando pautas a ser consideradas en las políticas y planificaciones dirigidas a la salud de sus integrantes, sino que también pueden ser mediadores entre los profesionales de la salud y los homosexuales que buscan cuidado de estos profesionales.

What matters in health (care) universes: delusions, dilutions, and ways towards universal health justice.

The presumed global consensus on achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) masks crucial issues regarding the principles and politics of what constitutes "universality" and what matters, past and present, in the struggle for health (care) justice. This article focuses on three dimensions of the problematic: 1) we unpack the rhetoric of UHC in terms of each of its three components: universal, health, and coverage; 2) paying special attention to Latin America, we revisit the neoliberal coup d'état against past and contemporary struggles for health justice, and we consider how the current neoliberal phase of capitalism has sought to arrest these struggles, co-opt their language, and narrow their vision; and 3) we re-imagine the contemporary challenges/dilemmas concerning health justice, transcending the false technocratic consensus around UHC and re-infusing the profoundly political nature of this struggle. In sum, as with the universe writ large, a range of matters matter: socio-political contexts at national and international levels, agenda-setting power, the battle over language, real policy effects, conceptual narratives, and people's struggles for justice.
