RESUMO

Objective: To investigate the impact of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) physique classification and targeted, individualized nursing intervention on athletes' mental health in the context of sports. Methods: From February 2018 to February 2019, we randomly assigned 154 athletes to two groups (n=77) for this study. The control group received standard sports-related nursing care, while the observation group received personalized nursing interventions based on their TCM physique constitution. We assessed various parameters, including mental health indicators and sports performance metrics, before and after the nursing intervention. The assessment included psychological well-being scores, performance metrics, and the incidence of any adverse effects. Results: After the nursing intervention, athletes in the observation group showed significant improvements in psychological well-being, including lower levels of anxiety and depression (all P<0.05). Additionally, their sports performance metrics, including strength, endurance, and recovery, demonstrated remarkable enhancement compared to the control group (P<0.05). The overall quality of life scores for athletes in the observation group also showed significant improvements, particularly in physiological function, mental health, emotional function, and social function (P<0.05). In terms of adverse effects, the observation group experienced significantly fewer issues compared to the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion: Utilizing TCM physique classification and tailored nursing interventions for athletes can lead to improved mental health outcomes, enhanced sports performance, and an overall better quality of life. This approach holds promise for optimizing athletes' well-being and performance and deserves further consideration and application in the realm of sports and athletes' mental health. (AU)

RESUMO

The aim of the present study was to compare the effects of individualized nursing on improving the satisfaction of elderly patients with lung cancer undergoing thoracoscopic lobectomy. A total of 72 elderly patients with lung cancer undergoing thoracoscopic lobectomy in the First Hospital of Qinhuangdao (Qinhuangdao, China) were randomly allocated to a control group (n=36) or an observation group (n=36). The patients in the control group received routine nursing, and the patients in the observation group received individualized nursing. The patients' compliance with respiratory function exercise, the complications after surgery, and nursing satisfaction were recorded. The patients' compliance with respiratory rehabilitation exercise and the patients' satisfaction in the observation group were significantly higher than that in the control group. The length of hospital postoperative stay, the time of drainage tube indwelling, and the incidence of postoperative complications in the observation group were significantly lower than in the control group. Thus, an individualized nursing model can accelerate the rehabilitation of elderly patients undergoing video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy and improve patient satisfaction.

RESUMO

It focused on clinical effects of individualized nursing and health education (INHE) on patients with diabetes mellitus type 2 (T2DM) and hypertension. 68 patients were randomly rolled into two groups, 34 cases in the control group (group A) received routine nursing and remaining 34 cases in the experimental group (group B) received INHE. The disease knowledge mastery (DKM) and the effect of rehabilitation nursing of patients were compared. The results suggested that DKM of patients in group B was obviously greater (P < 0.05). The total effective rate (TER) in group B was 91.45%, which was observably greater than that (76.35%) in group A (P < 0.05). After nursing, the fasting plasma glucose (FPG), 2-hour postprandial glucose (2h PG), systolic blood pressure (SBP), and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) levels of all patients decreased, and those in group B were much lower (P < 0.05). Scores of the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) of the two groups were 56.34 ± 8.12 points and 56.33 ± 8.01 points in group A, respectively; and those in group B were 42.52 ± 6.77 points and 41.71 ± 7.23 points, respectively; and they were all decreased and those in the group B were obviously smaller (P < 0.05). In summary, INHE can effectively improve the psychological cognition of patients with T2DM and hypertension and strengthen the control of blood pressure and blood sugar.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) is the most frequent medical complication of pregnancy. This condition is manifested by glucose intolerance resulting in hyperglycemia of variable severity during pregnancy. One of the most important clinical tools for efficiently regulating maternal blood glucose is strictly monitoring blood glucose levels. However, due to a lack of appropriate intervention tools, managing the occurrence of GDM is still unfeasible. This study aimed to determine clinical efficacy of the internet combined with exercise-based individualized nursing intervention in patients with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM). METHODS: In total, 139 patients with GDM were divided into two groups, with 79 patients in the observation group (internet combined with exercise-based individualized nursing intervention) and 60 patients in the control group (routine nursing intervention only). The two groups were given specified nursing intervention for 8 weeks and then compared for changes in their blood glucose, blood lipids, blood pressure, insulin resistance (IR), and rate of adverse pregnancy outcomes. Additionally, the psychological state was analyzed, and their nursing satisfaction with the care from nurses that they received was investigated before and after the nursing intervention. RESULTS: Compared with the control group, the following indices of the observation group were lowered: blood glucose-related indices (FBG and 2 h PG), blood lipids and blood pressure associated indices (TG, TC, and HbA1c, DBP, SBP, and MAP), and IR-related indices (FINS, 2 h INS, and HOMA -IR) (all P < 0.05). The observation group also showed a lower rate of adverse pregnancy outcomes than the control group (7.59% vs. 20.00%; P < 0.05). In addition, SAS and SDS scores of the observation group were both lower than the control group (P < 0.05). Accordingly, the nursing satisfaction score also displayed that the observation group (93.67%) had a higher satisfaction outcome than the control group (76.67%; P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: Internet combined with exercise-based individualized nursing intervention in GDM patients can effectively improve their blood glucose, IR, and psychological status, thus significantly improving their pregnancy outcomes and mental condition.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To explore children's, parents', and healthcare professionals', experiences of anesthesia related to pediatric oncological treatment performed at the pediatric oncology ward. DESIGN AND METHODS: The study was a qualitative study. 11 children and 12 parents were recruited for individual or dyadic interviews and two focus groups with a total of 12 healthcare professionals were recruited through purposeful and convenience sampling procedures. RESULTS: Thematic analysis generated one main theme, the familiar in the unfamiliar, and two subthemes, the room creates an atmosphere and relational continuity. CONCLUSIONS: Changing the physical environment and composition of the team positively influenced the experience of anesthesia in pediatric cancer treatment for both children, parents, and healthcare professionals. Familiarity was important for all involved and familiarity was associated with continuity related to the physical environment, as well as the relational and procedural professional continuity. Parents expressed that they never felt good about anesthesia as there were feelings of leaving your child's life into the hands of others. However, familiarity in trusting relationships with healthcare professionals helped to moderate these aspects. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS: Familiarity should be considered important with continuity in trusting relations and collaborations between nurses and families, as well as between healthcare staff. Pediatric oncology ward is a preferred safe familiar setting for procedure-related anesthesia. Parents and children value individualized flexible nursing care, that takes the child's and parents habits and preferences into account during procedure-related anesthesia in pediatric oncological treatment.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To assess patients' diagnosed with cancer perceptions on individualized nursing care and quality of oncology nursing care in Cyprus. METHODS: This was a descriptive correlational research with 150 patients diagnosed with cancer and receiving treatment as in-patients at three different urban hospitals of Cyprus, based on predetermined inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data were collected with the Individualized Care Scale-ICS and the Quality Oncology Nursing Care Scale-QONCS. Statistical significance was set at the 0.05 level. RESULTS: Data showed that a medium level of support of patients' individuality was provided by nurses (ICS-A mean = 3.41, SD = 0.98) and a high level of realization of perceived individuality in the provided care. Quality of oncology nursing care was found high on three dimensions of care, i.e. being supported and confirmed, being respected and having a sense of belonging. A statistically significant positive correla-tion was observed between the two scales of ICS, i.e. ICS-A and ΙCS-B (r = 0.80), and four of the dimensions of QONCS, i.e. "Being supported and confirmed", "Being cared for religiously and spiritually", "Sense of Belonging" and "Being respected" and all the subscales, i.e. Clinical Situation (r = 0.45, 0.27, 0.41, 0.42), Personal life sit-uation (r = 0.30, 0.51, 0.44, 0.35) and Decision control (r = 0.35, 0.46, 0.35, 0.40). CONCLUSION: The correlations found between individualized care and quality of oncology nursing care, highlight the need to provide a more personalized nursing care as a means to achieve a high level of quality nursing care.

RESUMO

Objective To study the therapeutic value of using mind map (MM) as a basis for developing individualized nursing scheme for patients in Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Methods Seventy severe patients admitted to the Department of Transplant ICU of Tianjin First Center Hospital from December 2015 to February 2017 were enrolled, and they were divided into a control group and an observation group by different nursing methods, each group 35 cases. The observation group was treated with individualized nursing based on MM; while the control group followed the doctor's instruction. After nursing, the changes of acute physiology and chronic health evaluationⅡ(APACHEⅡ), predictive mortality, complication situations and quality of life were observed in the two groups. Results After nursing, the APACHE Ⅱ scores and predictive mortalities in the two groups were significantly lower than those before nursing [control group: APACHEⅡ scores was 29.5±7.5 vs. 37.8±9.2, predict of mortality was (40.6±9.9)% vs. (63.1±11.5)%;observation group: APACHEⅡscores was 25.9±6.3 vs. 38.4±9.6, predict of mortality was (33.2±10.8)% vs. (40.6±9.9)%], and in the observation group, after nursing the above indicators were significantly lower than those in the control group [APACHEⅡscores: 25.9±6.3 vs. 29.5±7.5, predictive mortality: (33.2±10.8)% vs. (40.6±9.9)%, both P < 0.05]. The complication rate of the observation group was obviously lower than that of the control group [8.57% (7/35) vs. 20.00% (3/35), P < 0.05]. After intervention, the indexes of life quality such as social function, psychological function, physical function and material life scores in the observation group were all significantly higher than those of the control group (social function scores: 23.1±3.1 vs. 19.0±2.5, psychological function scores: 23.6±5.1 vs. 20.1±5.7, physical function scores: 25.2±3.2 vs. 21.1±3.7, material life scores: 25.8±3.1 vs. 20.1±3.3, all P < 0.05). Conclusion MM can transform complex and tedious nursing information into intuitive content, which may facilitate understanding, effectively reduce the pressure of ICU nursing work, improve nursing efficiency and patients' quality of life, and decrease their mortality.

RESUMO

The aim of the study was to investigate the application of hydrocolloid dressings in the prevention and treatment of infant diaper rash. A total of 210 infants with diaper rash were included in the study and randomized into 3 groups of 70 infants. Infants in group A received hydrocolloid dressings and individualized nursing; infants in group B received mupirocin plaster and topical application of pearl powder as well as routine nursing; and infants in group C received zinc oxide plaster and routine nursing. The clinical efficacy, incidence of adverse events, time to resolution of diaper rash, hospitalization duration, mean cost and satisfaction of nursing were compared between the 3 groups. After 1 cycle of treatment and nursing, the difference in the healing rate of mild diaper rash between groups A, B and C was significant (P<0.05), with the best healing rate in group A. Differences in the healing rate of grade I and II diaper rash between groups A, B and C was significant (P<0.05), with the best healing rate in group A. The incidence of adverse events in infants between groups A, B and C were significantly different (P<0.05), with the lowest incidence in group A (2.9%). The time to resolution of diaper rash, hospitalization duration and cost in infants were not significantly different (P<0.05). The satisfaction rate of nursing for the parents of groups A, B and C was 98.6, 87.1 and 80.0%, respectively (P<0.05). Hydrocolloid dressings combined with individualized nursing may prevent and treat infant diaper rash effectively, decrease the incidence of adverse reactions significantly, shorten time to resolution of diaper rash and hospitalization duration, reduce mean hospitalization cost, improve parent satisfaction and promote nursing-patient harmony. Thus, this method of treatment was worthy of clinical application.
