RESUMO

Foreign body granulomas following endovascular treatment are rare complications and are mostly reported in the brain or cutaneous vascular tissues. To the best of our knowledge, no study to date has reported on foreign body granulomas in the abdomen after injection of N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA)-lipiodol mixture into the abdominal arteries. This study reports a case of foreign body granuloma that appeared 12 months after the embolization of a right internal iliac artery aneurysm using an NBCA-lipiodol mixture, which posed challenges in differentiation from malignant tumors. We present a 77-year-old man who underwent embolization of a right internal iliac artery aneurysm and open surgical repair of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. A contrast-enhanced CT performed 12 months postoperatively revealed a right-sided retroperitoneal mass surrounding the iliopsoas muscle. The mass contained multiple, small, hyperdense areas, suggesting the migration of the NBCA-lipiodol mixture casts from the embolized right internal iliac artery aneurysm. The differential diagnosis included foreign body granuloma, lymphoma, and sarcoma. A biopsy of the lesion revealed a granuloma with various stages of inflammation, no hemosiderin deposition, multinucleated giant cells, and foam cells containing fat, and was diagnosed with a foreign body granuloma. Special staining for microorganisms revealed no findings suggestive of infection. Because the patient was asymptomatic, no treatment was administered. Contrast-enhanced CT at 24 months postoperatively showed shrinkage of the mass, with no change in size noted at 48 months postoperatively. This report highlights a foreign body granuloma that mimicked malignant tumors. Extravascular migration of the NBCA-lipiodol mixture casts likely contributed to granuloma formation. Radiologists should consider foreign body granulomas after embolization using NBCA into the abdominal arteries.

PURPOSE: To investigate the safety and efficacy of microballoon-occluded transcatheter embolization using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) in patients with a single pulmonary arteriovenous malformation (PAVM). METHODS: From November 2017 to November 2020, this retrospective study included 38 previously untreated patients with a single PAVM who underwent microballoon-occluded transcatheter embolization using NBCA. All 38 patients had follow-up that included simple chest radiography and contrast-enhanced chest computed tomography (CT). RESULTS: A microballoon was successfully placed in a feeding artery of the PAVM to control the delivery of the NBCA cast in all 38 patients, with complete embolization of sacs and the feeding artery achieved in all cases. The mean diameters of the feeding artery, sac, and draining vein were 3.9 ± 0.9 mm, 7.5 ± 2.6 mm, and 4.6 ± 1.3 mm, respectively. A fixed 1:2 NBCA/Lipiodol ratio was used, and the mean amount of embolic mixture per patient was 1.4 mL (range 0.6-2.2 mL). There were no complications related to microballoon adhesion and non-target embolization of the systemic circulation. Follow-up CT in all 38 patients with a mean delay of 34.5 ± 8.8 months (range 20.7-56.5 months) showed no continued perfusion of the PAVM. CONCLUSION: In our hands, microballoon-occluded n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate embolization seemed to be safe and appeared to be clinically effective in patients with simple and complex types of single PAVM. Therefore, the present technique has the potential to become a standard treatment for a single PAVM.

The artery of Davidoff and Schechter (ADS) is mostly identified in pathological conditions such as dural arteriovenous fistulas and brain tumors. Herein, we report a rare case of a ruptured aneurysm of the ADS, which was one of the feeders of a falcotentorial dural arteriovenous fistula. We performed endovascular embolization of the aneurysm and parent artery using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate. Complete occlusion of the fistula was achieved by another feeder after the acute phase. To our best knowledge, only a few reports on embolization of ruptured ADS aneurysms exist. Furthermore, this is the first report on the embolization of a ruptured ADS aneurysm using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate. This case highlights that endovascular n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate embolization could be a useful treatment for a ruptured ADS aneurysm.

BACKGROUND: Gastric variceal hemorrhage is one of the primary manifestations of left-sided portal hypertension (LSPH). The hemorrhage is fatal and requires safe and effective interventions. AIM: To evaluate the clinical safety and efficacy of modified endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)-guided selective N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBC) injections for gastric variceal hemorrhage in LSPH. METHODS: A retrospective observational study of patients with LSPH-induced gastric variceal hemorrhage was conducted. Preoperative EUS evaluations were performed. Enrolled patients were divided into modified and conventional groups according to the NBC injection technique. The final selection of NBC injection technique depended on the patients' preferences and clinical status. The technical and clinical success rates, operation time, NBC doses, perioperative complications, postoperative hospital stay, and recurrent bleeding rates were analyzed, respectively. RESULTS: A total of 27 patients were enrolled. No statistically significant differences were observed between the two groups regarding baseline characteristics. In comparison to patients in the conventional group, patients in the modified group demonstrated significantly reduced NBC doses (2.0 ± 0.6 mL vs 3.1 ± 1.0 mL; P = 0.004) and increased endoscopic operation time (71.9 ± 11.9 min vs 22.5 ± 6.7 min; P < 0.001). Meanwhile, the two groups had no significant difference in the technical and clinical success rates, perioperative complications, postoperative hospital stay, and recurrent bleeding rates. CONCLUSION: Modified EUS-guided selective NBC injections demonstrated safety and efficacy for LSPH-induced gastric variceal hemorrhage, with advantages of reduced injection dose and no radiation risk. Drawbacks were time consumption and technical challenge.

BACKGROUND: Preoperative embolization for meningiomas is controversial regarding its effectiveness in reducing intraoperative blood loss and operative time. In contrast, some reports have documented improved surgical outcomes in large meningiomas. In this study, we retrospectively compared the outcomes of craniotomy for meningiomas with/without preoperative embolization with diluted N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) primarily in a single institution. METHODS: Data (World Health Organization grade, Simpson grade, maximum tumor diameter, intraoperative bleeding, operative time, history of hypertension, and time from embolization to craniotomy) of patients with initial intracranial meningiomas were compared with or without preoperative embolization from January 2015 to April 2022. RESULTS: The embolization group consisted of 56 patients and the nonembolization group included 76 patients. Diluted NBCA (13% concentration for all patients) was used in 51 of 56 patients (91.1%) who underwent transarterial embolization. Permanent neurological complications occurred in 2 (3.6%) patients. Intraoperative bleeding was significantly lower in the embolization group for a maximum tumor diameter ≥40 mm (155 vs. 305 ml, respectively, p < 0.01). In the nonembolization group, for a maximum tumor diameter ≥30 mm, patients with hypertension had more intraoperative bleeding than non-hypertensive ones. CONCLUSIONS: Despite its limitations, the present results showed that, under certain conditions, preoperative embolization for intracranial meningiomas caused less intraoperative bleeding. The safety of treatment was comparable with that reported in the Japan Registry of NeuroEndovascular Therapy 3 (JR-NET3) with a complication rate of 3.7% for preoperative embolization of meningiomas, despite the treatment focused on the liquid embolization material.

N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NB2CYA) is frequently used in the treatment of variceal hemorrhage with a success rate in hemostatic control of 87%-100%. Although rare, complications include esophageal perforation, infection, or arterial and venous embolization. We present the case of a 67-year-old male with chronic ethanolic liver disease hospitalized due to melena and hematemesis. He had anemia requiring transfusion support, octreotide, and pantoprazole infusion. Upper digestive endoscopy was performed showing gastric varices with a hemorrhagic rupture point treated with cyanoacrylate. The patient developed respiratory failure over the next 48 hours with chest computed tomography (CT) angiography showing several dense, scattered linear images, with arterial vascular trajectories suggestive of cyanoacrylate embolization. It was decided to provide ventilatory support with invasive mechanical ventilation, initiate systemic corticosteroid therapy, and transfer the patient to the intensive care unit (ICU). The patient was ventilated for 11 days with initial favorable evolution, but after two episodes of decompensation of his chronic liver disease (CLD) (hepatic encephalopathy and hepatorenal syndrome) and a new nosocomial pneumonia, he ended up dying. The present case illustrates a rare but potentially fatal complication associated with cyanoacrylate, highlighting the importance of a high suspicion index in cases of respiratory failure and dyspnea after this therapy.

Background Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) is a common medical emergency that results in significant morbidity, mortality, and socioeconomic burden. Both types of cardio-fundal varices, gastro-esophageal varix 2 (GOV2) and isolated gastric varices type 1 (IGV1), can cause massive bleeding and often are difficult to treat compared to the other types of gastric varices. Endoscopic variceal band ligation (EVBL) is a less effective treatment modality for gastric varices than esophageal varices and is associated with high re-bleeding rates. N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (Histoacryl) injection is an effective and potential treatment option for fundal varices. This study aims to evaluate the safety and efficacy of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate injection therapy in cardio-fundal varices. Objective To assess the efficacy and safety of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate injection therapy for fundal varices. Methods This retrospective observational cohort study was conducted at the Department of Gastroenterology, Allied Teaching Hospital, Gujranwala, over one year. All patients, irrespective of age and gender, presenting with UGIB and in whom fundal varices were diagnosed on gastroscopy followed by n-butyl 2-cyanoacrylate injection therapy were included in this study. The efficacy and safety of Histoacryl therapy were assessed by analyzing successful hemostasis, frequency of re-bleeding, obliteration, and regression of fundal varices on repeat endoscopy. Adverse events such as re-bleeding and mortality related to fundal variceal treatment were documented. Results A total of 60 patients were included in the study. Of these, 70% had IGV1, while the remaining 30% had GOV2. Hemostasis was achieved in 100% of patients following n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate injection. Successful obliteration with regression of varices was observed in 91.3% of patients. Various adverse events were observed, with abdominal pain being the most common observed complication in 18.3% of participants. However, only 8.3% of participants developed re-bleeding due to ulcer formation at the injection site, and no death occurred directly due to fundal variceal treatment. Conclusion N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate injection therapy is a lifesaving, effective, and safe intervention for controlling bleeding from cardio-fundal varices, leading to improved health status and a consequent decrease in episodes of recurrent bleeding. Its side effects are few and infrequent. However, larger-scale studies are needed to further evaluate the safety and effectiveness of n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate injection therapy. These studies will be crucial in establishing comprehensive guidelines for the management of fundal varices.

Parent artery occlusion is a definitive treatment method for preventing rebleeding of dissecting aneurysms. We herein report a case of a ruptured distal posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) dissecting aneurysm treated with internal trapping using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA). A 65-year-old man visited our hospital with a complaint of headache and neck pain that began 1 week before his arrival. He had a history of spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage of unknown cause. Computed tomography of the brain revealed a small amount of subarachnoid hemorrhage, and distal subtraction angiogram showed a distal PICA dissecting aneurysm. We placed a guiding catheter in the left vertebral artery and an intermediate catheter in the PICA. A microcatheter was guided toward the proximal side of the aneurysm and was wedged into the parent artery. The dissecting aneurysm was treated with parent artery occlusion using 50% NBCA. The postoperative course was uneventful, and the patient was discharged 3 weeks after treatment without any neurological deficit. Parent artery occlusion with internal trapping using NBCA could be a safe and definitive treatment method for distal PICA dissecting aneurysms. Angiographical evaluation of the collateral network in the distal branch of PICA before embolization and wedged microcatheter technique in the parent artery are important for successful embolization using NBCA.

PURPOSE: We have developed a new microcatheter (designated "NSX") with an outer layer of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) at its tip. We compared the adhesion of the new NSX microcatheter and a conventional microcatheter with n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) in vitro and in swine blood vessels. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The 3 cm tip of the NSX microcatheter is composed of PTFE, which can be identified by double platinum markers. The tips of the NSX and conventional microcatheters were inserted into a vascular model filled with porcine blood with no flow, and NBCA mixed with lipiodol (1:2) was injected from the microcatheters. Two minutes after the injection of NBCA, the microcatheter was withdrawn and the degree of its adhesion to NBCA was evaluated by measuring the resistance value (N) during catheter removal with a digital force gauge. These measurements were repeated with 20 catheters of each type. Similarly, 5 injections were performed with both the NSX and conventional microcatheters in swine vessels. The degree of adhesion of the catheter and blood vessel was evaluated by 2 radiologists under X-ray fluoroscopy on a 3-point scale: 1, no adhesion; 2, mild adhesion; 3, strong adhesion. RESULTS: The mean resistance values (N) for the NSX and conventional microcatheters were 0.503±0.186 and 1.051±0.367 (N), respectively (p<0.001). The NSX adhered negligibly to the NBCA and was easily removed, whereas the conventional microcatheter adhered strongly to the NBCA in the blood vessels and was difficult to remove from the swine vessels (p=0.008). CONCLUSIONS: The new NSX microcatheter with a PTFE tip exhibits poorer adhesion to NBCA than do conventional microcatheters and allows for safer injection of NBCA than conventional microcatheters, without requiring immediate catheter retrieval. CLINICAL IMPACT: The NSX microcatheter with a PTFE tip adheres less strongly to NBCA than do conventional microcatheters and allows the safe injection of NBCA. The NSX microcatheter has double platinum markers on its tip, which make it easy to distinguish the PTFE-covered region. As the NSX does not adhere firmly to the arterial wall, it is less likely to cause vascular injury during removal of the catheter compared with conventional microcatheters, so there is no need to remove the NSX immediately after injecting NBCA. Even operators unfamiliar with NBCA can use NBCA safely with this new NSX microcatheter without requiring special training or skill.

In this report, we present a case of gastrointestinal bleeding due to splenic artery rupture, which required repeated transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) within a short period of time. A 75-year-old man with pancreatic carcinoma was transported to our hospital with active hematemesis and vital signs consistent with shock. Contrast-enhanced computed tomography images showed a pancreatic tumor that had caused a pseudoaneurysm of the splenic artery to rupture. The pseudoaneurysm was embolized using only an N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) and lipiodol mixture. However, hematemesis with signs of shock recurred 13 h later, and angiography showed rebleeding from the origin of the splenic artery. The splenic artery was subsequently embolized using an NBCA and lipiodol mixture. Repeated TAE finally controlled the hemorrhage; however, asymptomatic splenic infarction and hepatic infarction occurred due to nontarget embolization.

Objective: We report a case of accidental N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA) glue migration into the vertebral artery (VA) via dangerous anastomosis during transarterial embolization (TAE) for transverse sinus (TS)-dural arteriovenous fistula (DAVF), which was rescued by mechanical retrieval using a stent retriever and aspiration devices. Case Presentation: A 49-year-old right-handed female patient was admitted to our hospital with motor aphasia. MRI revealed congestion in the left temporal and occipital lobes, involving a small hemorrhage. DSA revealed a DAVF complicated by a sinus thrombus in the left TS. The DAVF was mostly fed by the left occipital artery (OA) and drained into the cortical veins of the temporal and occipital lobes through the patent part of the sinus. TAE was performed via the left OA with low-concentration NBCA. However, NBCA glue migrated into the left VA through a dangerous anastomosis, and a left VA angiogram revealed severe VA stenosis and floating NBCA glue. There was a fragile attachment of the NBCA glue to the arterial inner wall; therefore, we successfully retrieved the NBCA glue with a stent retriever and aspiration devices without complications. Finally, TAE was performed using another feeder, and the DAVF was completely obliterated. Conclusion: TAE using NBCA is useful for the treatment of DAVF; however, it should be noted that there is a risk of migration via potential anastomotic routes. Low-concentration NBCA glue can be retrieved using these devices in limited cases.

Objective: A few cases of postsurgical iatrogenic arteriovenous shunts have been reported, with the arterial blood flow directly entering the pial veins. Herein, we reported a patient with a dural artery-pial vein shunt found 1 year after aneurysmal clipping. Case Presentation: A 64-year-old male presented with generalized convulsion 1 year after cerebral aneurysmal clipping. A CT showed intracerebral hemorrhage in the temporo-occipital cortex and a dural artery-pial vein shunt in proximity to the previous craniotomy center. The arterial blood flow from the deep temporal artery, the middle meningeal artery, and the anterior auricular branch of the superficial temporal artery shunted into the superficial middle cerebral vein, with evident cortical venous reflux. Embolization was performed with n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate and completely occluded the shunt. The patient was discharged without neurological deficits. Conclusion: Endovascular liquid embolization may be an effective treatment for iatrogenic dural artery-pial vein shunt.

An 84-year-old man underwent right basal segmentectomy for primary lung cancer and developed empyema accompanied by a bronchopleural fistula (BPF). Emergency open-window thoracotomy was performed. Although the general and nutritional conditions improved, the fistula did not close naturally, and we planned to close it 6 months after surgery. In this report, we describe, for the first time, a novel method for closing BPF using an endobronchial Watanabe spigot (EWS), polyglycolic acid (PGA) sheet and N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA). We named this method the"sandwich method."

Alveolar-pleural fistulas that do not improve with thoracic drainage can be conservatively treated via endobronchial occlusion and pleurodesis, among other options. However, for inoperable cases, the treatment strategy to be followed, in the event that conventional conservative management fails, is unclear. Herein, we report a case of alveolar-pleural fistula managed by bronchial occlusion using a combination of Endobronchial Watanabe Spigot (EWS) and N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA). A 79-year-old man on prednisolone for interstitial pneumonia with autoimmune features was diagnosed with invasive pulmonary aspergillosis and Aspergillus pyothorax infection. He was administered voriconazole; however, a pneumothorax developed and did not improve with thoracic drainage. Bronchial occlusion with EWS failed due to spigot migration. However, a combination of EWS with NBCA could control the alveolar-pleural fistula. Thus, an EWS and NBCA combination may help prevent EWS migration, providing another option for patients who are unfit for surgery.

Objective The purpose of the study was to assess the clinical outcome of patients by using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate in the management of comminuted fracture segments of the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus in the zygomatico-maxillo-facial complex region. Material and methods A prospective study was done at a tertiary care teaching institute in India with a study population of ten patients in a single group. The method of recruitment was a convenient sampling method. Out of all the study subjects, three patients had isolated maxillary sinus wall fractures, whereas the remaining seven had other associated facial fractures that required stable fixation with mini plates. The comminuted fractures of the anterior wall of the maxillary sinus were carefully reduced through an intra-oral approach, and n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate was applied over the edges of fractured segments. The segments were left undisturbed for one minute and closed with a 3-0 vicryl. The outcome variables, namely bone alignment visualised through computed tomography (CT) scan postoperatively, paresthesia or hypoesthesia of the infraorbital nerve, postoperative infection, and wound dehiscence, were noted at one-week, one-month, three-month, and six-month intervals. Data were analysed using the Chi-square test. Results Among all patients, seven had satisfactory bone alignment. A total of seven patients recovered from hypoesthesia of the infraorbital nerve. The association of bone alignment with hypoesthesia or paresthesia revealed a highly significant p-value (0.002) using the Chi-square test. Also, an association between postoperative infection and wound dehiscence showed substantial results with a p-value less than 0.05. Conclusion Good bone alignment was seen postoperatively in 70% of patients. The cyanoacrylate used had no adverse reactions, and its application was restricted to non-load-bearing areas in this study. Further studies with a higher level of evidence and a larger sample size are needed to validate the use of adhesives for bone fixation in other regions of the face.

A 52-year-old man developed a right pneumothorax during treatment for COVID-19. In a previous case report concerning this patient, his recovery was achieved through implanting four endobronchial Watanabe spigots (EWS) in the right B1 and B3 in two phases and spraying N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA). One year later, EWS removal was planned. He was intubated under bronchoscopic guidance, and the right upper lobe was observed. The right B1 and B3 inlets were found to be covered with granuloma. Despite the presence of a nylon thread for easy retrieval and partial debridement of the granulation, removal of the implanted EWS in the right B1 and B3 using grasping forceps, basket forceps, and two types of balloons under fluoroscopic guidance was challenging. NBCA spraying is a possible cause of foreign body granuloma formation. Therefore, careful consideration of the indications for the combined EWS-NBCA procedure is necessary.

This study aimed to demonstrate the effect of transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) on hepatic segmental arterial mediolysis (SAM). The patient, a 68-year-old female, suddenly developed right upper abdominal pain in October 2021, which was initially relieved. However, she was rushed to a local hospital the next day when her abdominal pain recurred. An abdominal computed tomography scan suggested a ruptured hepatic aneurysm; therefore, she was transferred to our hospital and admitted on the same day. On the first day after admission, she underwent emergency catheterization and N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA)/lipiodol embolization for an aneurysm in the hepatic S6. A multi-detector computed tomography on hospital day 8 to probe for extrahepatic lesions revealed multiple beaded irregularities in the superior mesenteric and bilateral renal arteries. A head magnetic resonance angiography performed on the ninth day showed no aneurysms or irregularities. She did well after TAE, did not have rebleeding, and was discharged on hospital day 16. Rupture of an aneurysm associated with SAM occurs frequently in the colonic and gastroepiploic arteries, and rupture of a hepatic aneurysm is relatively rare. TAE hemostasis was able to save the patient by preventing intraperitoneal bleeding caused by hepatic segmental arterial mediolysis.

BACKGROUND: In meningiomas that occur in the high-convexity region, the superficial temporal artery (STA) frequently feeds the tumor, and when embolizing from the middle meningeal artery (MMA), the embolic material may not reach the tumor vessels because of the pressure gradient resulting from the STA blood flow, resulting in inadequate embolization. In this case, a circular plastic material was used to apply circumferential pressure around the parietal foramen to control blood flow to the tumor. OBSERVATIONS: A 45-year-old male underwent head magnetic resonance imaging that revealed a 2.2-cm meningioma in the right high-convexity region. Preoperative embolization was performed. When N-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate was injected from the right MMA while using a circular plastic material to compress the skin around the parietal foramen through which the bilateral STAs (the tumor feeders) flow, it was able to fully penetrate the tumor vessel and occlude the other feeders in a retrograde manner. The patient underwent tumor removal after embolization uneventfully. LESSONS: Manual compression of the STA using a circular plastic material is useful when the tumor is fed by the STA through the parietal foramen and is also applicable to transarterial embolization of dural arteriovenous fistulas fed by the STA or occipital artery.

Iatrogenic bile duct injuries remain a substantial problem in gastrointestinal surgery, especially if discovered later in the postoperative period. Herein, we report a case of an unusual bile leak following laparoscopic cholecystectomy consisting of an isolated right segmental hepatic duct injury of segment 5 together with an additional bile leak of a small duct connecting the gallbladder fossa with the common bile duct. We call this situation an incomplete isolated right segmental hepatic duct injury. Patient presented with infected biloma 2 weeks after laparoscopic cholecystectomy. After percutaneous drainage of the biloma and antibiotic therapy the complex biliary fistula was closed first with coil embolization of the small connection to the common bile duct and then with both antegrade and retrograde histoacryl embolization of the hereby created complete isolated right segmental hepatic duct injury in a single session. Patient was discharged the same day and recovered without complication or recurrence.

Background: Traumatic intracranial aneurysms (TICAs) are rare and known to rupture easily and have a high mortality rate. Case Description: An 87-year-old male patient with no neurological deficits presented to our hospital after head trauma. Computed tomography (CT) revealed a tentorial acute subdural hematoma (ASDH). The patient was managed conservatively and discharged home six days after hospitalization. Two days later, the patient returned with a severe headache. CT showed that the ASDH had enlarged and extended from the tentorium to the convexity. CT angiography and digital subtraction angiography revealed a pseudoaneurysm in a branch of the left posterior inferior temporal artery. The patient was diagnosed with an enlarged ASDH due to a ruptured TICA that arose from the P3 segment. We performed endovascular intervention with parent artery occlusion (PAO) using n-butyl-2-cyanoacrylate (NBCA). The parent artery was accessed through the left posterior communicating artery because left vertebral angiography revealed an aplastic left P1 segment. After navigating the microcatheter near the aneurysm, we injected 33% NBCA into the parent artery. The pseudoaneurysm disappeared after injection. The patient was discharged on hospital day 25 despite persistent delirium. Conclusion: This is the first report of a TICA arising from the P3 segment that was treated with PAO using NBCA. TICAs are rare; however, a TICA must be considered when an enlarged hematoma caused by head injury is detected.
