RESUMO

The extraordinary features of cerium oxide (CeO2) and zinc oxide (ZnO) nanostructures have encouraged substantial attention to those nanocomposites as probable electroactive complexes for sensing and biosensing purposes. In this study, an advanced novel factionalized CeO2/ZnO nanocomposite-aluminum wire membrane sensor was designed to assess pethidine hydrochloride (PTD) in commercial injection samples. Pethidine-reineckate (PTD-RK) was formed by mixing pethidine hydrochloride and ammonium reineckate (ARK) in the presence of polymeric matrix (polyvinyl chloride) and o-nitrophenyl octyl ether as a fluidizing agent. The functionalized nanocomposite sensor displayed a fast dynamic response and wide linearity for the detection of PTD. It also revealed excellent selectivity and sensitivity, high accuracy, and precision for the determination and quantification of PTD when compared with the unmodified sensor PTD-RK. The guidelines of analytical methodology requirements were obeyed to improve the suitability and validity of the suggested potentiometric system according to several criteria. The developed potentiometric system was suitable for the determination of PTD in bulk powder and commercial products.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Neural tube defects are among the most frequent congenital abnormalities of the central nervous system. Progression of neural tube deficits is affected by hereditary predilection and environmental determinants. Pethidine (meperidine) is a fast and powerful opioid analgesic in U.S. Food and Drug Administration category C. There are reports about developmental anomalies due to this medication. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of different doses of pethidine hydrochloride on neural tube development in a chick embryo model resembling the first month of vertebral growth in mammals. METHODS: Seventy-five specific pathogen-free eggs were incubated for 28 hours and divided into 5 groups (including the control group), each consisting of 15 eggs. Pethidine hydrochloride was administered sub-blastodermically with a Hamilton microinjector in 4 different doses. Incubation was continued until the end of the 48th hour. Subsequently, all eggs were opened, and embryos were cut from the embryonic membranes and evaluated morphologically, genetically, and histopathologically. RESULTS: Crown-rump length, somite numbers, and silver-stained nucleolar organizer region (AgNOR) number averages, and total AgNOR/nuclear area ratios decreased in a dose-dependent manner. Examination of neural tube closure revealed statistically significant differences in all experimental groups (P<0.05). Messenger RNA levels of the BRE gene were decreased in pethidine hydrochloride-exposed embryos compared with the control group. Although this downregulation was not statistically significant, this decrease was striking with a 0.422-fold change in the fifth group. CONCLUSIONS: We demonstrated that pethidine hydrochloride affects neuronal development in chicken embryos. The teratogenic mechanism of pethidine hydrochloride is unclear; therefore, further investigation is required.

RESUMO

Objective To analyze the anesthesia effect of droperidol and pethidine hydrochloride in combina-tion with paracervical block in artificial abortion. Methods 386 patients undergoing artificial abortion were admitted. They were randomly divided into the two groups. The study group(193 cases)was treated with droperidol and pethi-dine hydrochloride in combination with paracervical block, while the control group (193 cases)was treated with droperidol and pethidine hydrochloride only. The analgesic effect, hemodynamics, cervix relaxation and side effects between the two groups were compared. Results The analgesic effect of the study group was 9 1 .7%,which was much higher than 72.0% of the control group(χ2 =25.198,P<0.01),and there were significant differences between the two groups in hemodynamics(t=4.545,3.674,all P<0.01).The total cervix relaxation were 102 cases, and partly cervix relaxation were 69 cases in the study group, which were significantly higher than that of the control group (69 cases,60 cases,respectively;Z=4.643,P<0.01).There was no difference between side effects except for abor-tion syndrome(χ2 =7.580,P=0.006).Conclusion Droperidol and pethidine hydrochloride in combination with paracervical block have an excellent effect on artificial abortion.
