Diagnóstico clínico de pacientes con estomatitis subprótesis portadores de aparatología protésica / Clinical diagnosis of patients with subprosthesis stomatitis bearers of prosthetic aparatology

Se efectuó un estudio descriptivo y transversal de 75 pacientes con estomatitis subprótesis de la mucosa del paladar duro portadores de aparatología protésica removible, atendidos en la consulta estomatológica del Policlínico de Especialidades del Hospital Provincial Clinicoquirúrgico Docente Saturnino Lora Torres de Santiago de Cuba, desde noviembre de 2014 hasta igual mes de 2015, a fin de caracterizarles desde el punto de vista clínico. En la casuística prevalecieron el sexo femenino, el grupo etario de 60 años y más, así como la ausencia de sintomatología. La estomatitis grado I resultó la más frecuente; mientras que la prótesis desajustada, el tiempo de uso continuo y el hábito de no retirar la prótesis fueron los principales factores predisponentes en la aparición de esta enfermedad. De ahí la importancia de realizar acciones educativas que permitan disminuir la presencia de dicha afección

A descriptive and cross-sectional study of 75 patients with stomatitis subprosthesis of the hard palate mucus bearers of removable prosthetic aparatology, assisted in the stomatological service of the Specialties Polyclinic in Saturnino Lora Torres Teaching Clinical Surgical Provincial Hospital from Santiago de Cuba, was carried out from November, 2014 to the same month in 2015, in order to characterized them from the clinical point of view. In the case material there was a prevalence of the female sex, the 60 years and over age group, as well as the absence of symptomatology. Grade I estomatitis was the most frequent; while loosened prosthesis, the time of continuous use and the habit of not removing away the prosthesis were the main predisposing factors in the emergence of this disease. Reason why it is important to carry out educational actions that allow to diminish the presence of this disorder

Caracterización de la estomatitis subprótesis en pacientes del policlínico Julio Antonio Mella / Characterization of the sub-denture stomatitis in patients from Julio Antonio Mella polyclinic

Fundamento: la estomatitis subprótesis es una lesión que constituye un factor de riesgo para la aparición de afecciones premalignas y malignas de la cavidad bucal.Objetivo: caracterizar a los pacientes con estomatitis subprótesis atendidos en el policlínico universitario Julio Antonio Mella, de Camagüey.Métodos: se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo en pacientes atendidos en el referido policlínico desde enero hasta noviembre de 2014. El universo lo constituyeron 643 pacientes mayores de 20 años de edad, de ambos sexos, que acudieron para ser evaluados por la especialidad de prótesis. La selección de la muestra fue no probabilística y quedó constituida por 296 pacientes que presentaron estomatitis subprótesis.Resultados: entre los 296 pacientes predominó el sexo femenino, con el 70,94 por ciento. Los que usaron la prótesis por más de diez años fueron los más afectados (60,47 por ciento), principalmente por lesiones grado II (59,45 por ciento). El 81,41 por ciento eran portadores de prótesis total y el 18,58 por ciento padecieron la enfermedad con prótesis parcial. La forma continua de usar la prótesis ocupó el lugar de mayor importancia en el estudio, con 195 enfermos para el 65,87 por ciento.Conclusiones: se caracterizaron los pacientes mayores de 20 años de edad con estomatitis subprótesis, objetos de la investigación (AU)

Background: sub-denture stomatitis is a lesion that constitutes a risk factor for the occurrence of premalignant and malignant diseases of the oral cavity.Objective: to characterize those patients suffering from sub-denture stomatitis who were treated at Julio Antonio Mella polyclinic in Camagüey.Methods: an observational and descriptive study was carried out in patients treated at the referred polyclinic from January to November, 2014. The universe was composed of 643 patients over 20 years of age, of both sexes, who came to be assessed by the dental prosthesis specialty. The selection of the sample was non-probabilistic and was made up of 296 patients who had sub-denture stomatitis.Results: out of the 296 patients, females predominated, with 70,94 percent. Those who used the dentures for over 10 years were the most affected ones (60,47 percent), mainly due to lesions grade II (59,45 percent). The 81,41 percent were users of full dentures and the 18,58 percent suffered from the disease using partial dentures. The continuous use of the dentures got the most important place in the study, with 195 patients, for 65,87 percent.Conclusions: patients older than 20 years old with sub-denture stomatitis, objects of research, were characterized (AU)
