RESUMO

The SF-6D health descriptive system and its second version published in 2020, the SF-6Dv2, is used worldwide for valuing health-related quality of life (HRQoL) for economic evaluation and measuring patient-reported health outcomes. In this study, a valuation tool was developed and applied to create a social value set, comprising 18,750 health state values, for the SF-6Dv2 for New Zealand (NZ). This tool was adapted and extended from the one used to create a social value set for the EQ-5D-5L, a simpler health descriptive system with fewer dimensions and health states. The tool implements the PAPRIKA method, a type of adaptive discrete choice experiment, and a binary search algorithm to identify health states worse than dead and has extensive data quality controls to ensure the validity and reliability of the social value set derived from participants' personal value sets. The tool, accompanied by a short introductory video designed specifically for the SF-6Dv2, was distributed via an online survey to a large representative sample of adult New Zealanders in June-July 2022. The tool's data quality controls enabled participants who failed to understand or sincerely engage with the valuation tasks to be identified and excluded, resulting in the participants being pared down to a sub-sample of 2985 'high-quality' participants whose personal value sets were averaged for the social value set. These results, including participants' positive feedback, demonstrate the feasibility and acceptability of using the tool to value larger health descriptive systems such as the SF-6Dv2. Having successfully created an SF-6Dv2 social value set for NZ, the valuation tool can be readily applied to other countries, used to generate personal value sets for personalised medicine and adapted to create value sets for other health descriptive systems.

With the annual global electricity production exceeding 30,000 TWh, the safe transmission of electric power has been heavily relying on SF6, the most potent industrial greenhouse gas. While promising SF6 alternatives have been proposed, their compatibilities with materials used in gas-insulated equipment (GIE) must be thoroughly studied. This is particularly true as the emerging SF6 alternatives generally leverage their relatively higher reactivity to achieve lower global warming potentials (GWPs). Here, a high-throughput compatibility screening of common GIE materials was conducted with a representative SF6 alternative, namely, C4F7N (2,3,3,3-tetrafluoro-2-(trifluoromethyl)propanenitrile)/CO2 gas mixtures. In this screening, the insulation performance of C4F7N/CO2 gas mixtures, as an indicator of the C4F7N/materials compatibility level, was periodically monitored during the thermal aging with tens of materials from SF6-insulated GIE, including desiccants/adsorbents, rubber, plastics, composites, ceramics, metals, etc. The identification of incompatible materials and the follow-up mechanism studies suggested that the acidity of materials represents the primary cause for C4F7N/materials incompatibility when C4F7N/CO2 gas mixtures are used as a drop-in replacement solution for existing SF6-insulated apparatuses. Mitigation strategies tackling the acidity of materials were then proposed and validated. Additionally, the amphoteric characteristics of C4F7N were briefly discussed. This work provides insight into the materials incompatibility of SF6 alternatives, along with validated mitigation strategies, for the selection and design of materials used in future eco-friendly GIE.

The health of refugees has been widely documented, as has the impact of a range of factors throughout the migration journey from being exposed to violence to the impacts of immigration detention. This study adds to our understanding of health-related quality of life amongst refugees and asylum seekers by evaluating health-related quality of life as measured by the Short-Form 36 (SF-36) Health Survey using meta-analysis. The aims of this study were to (1) provide a summary and overview of health-related quality of life (as measured by the SF-36), including the extent to which this varies and (2) explore the factors that influence health-related quality of life (as measured by the SF-36) amongst refugees and asylum seekers. A search was undertaken of MEDLINE, CINAHL, PSYCINFO and SCOPUS, returning 3965 results. Papers were included if they sampled refugees (or asylum seeker or those with refugee-like experiences) and used the SF-36 (or its variants) as an outcome measure. Mean scores and standard deviations were pooled using a random effects model. The pooled sample size was 18,418. The pooled mean scores for the SF-36 physical summary measures was 54.99 (95% CI 46.01-63.99), while the mental health summary measure was 52.39 (95% CI 43.35-61.43). The pooled mean scores for each of the sub-scales ranged from 49.6 (vitality) to 65.54 (physical functioning). High heterogeneity was found between both summary measures and all sub-scales. In comparison to SF-36 results from general populations in high and middle income countries, these results suggest that refugee quality of life is generally poorer. However, this varied substantially between studies. One issue that is not well clarified by this review are the factors that contributed to health-related quality of life.

Psychiatric disorders are highly inheritable, and most psychiatric disorders exhibit genetic overlap. Recent studies associated the 3q29 recurrent deletion with schizophrenia (SCZ) and autism spectrum disorder (ASD). In this study, we investigated the association of genes in the 3q29 region with SCZ and ASD. TM4SF19 and PAK2 were chosen as candidate genes for this study based on evidence from previous research. We sequenced TM4SF19 and PAK2 in 437 SCZ cases, 187 ASD cases and 524 controls in the Japanese population. Through targeted sequencing, we identified 6 missense variants among the cases (ASD & SCZ), 3 missense variants among controls, and 1 variant common to both cases and controls; however, no loss-of-function variants were identified. Fisher's exact test showed a significant association of variants in TM4SF19 among cases (p=0.0160). These results suggest TM4SF19 variants affect the etiology of SCZ and ASD in the Japanese population. Further research examining 3q29 region genes and their association with SCZ and ASD is thus needed.

This chapter outlines the workflow using the ExpiSf™ Expression System designed for high-density infection of suspension ExpiSf9™ cells. The system utilizes a chemically defined, serum-free, protein-free, and animal origin free medium, making it suitable for recombinant protein expression experiments. The ExpiSf™ chemically defined medium allows efficient transfection and baculovirus production directly within the same culture medium. The ExpiSf™ Expression System Starter Kit provides all necessary components, including cells, culture medium, and reagents needed to infect one (1) liter of cell culture. The system's versatility and animal origin free nature make it a valuable tool for various protein expression studies and biotechnological applications.

The baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) is a powerful platform for protein expression in insect cells. A prevalent application is the expression of complex protein structures consisting of multiple, interacting proteins. Coinfection with multiple baculoviruses allows for production of complex structures, facilitating structure-function studies, allowing augmentation of insect cell functionality, and production of clinically relevant products such as virus-like particles (VLPs) and adeno-associated viral vectors (AAV). Successful coinfections require the generation of robust and well-quantified recombinant baculovirus stocks. Virus production through homologous recombination, combined with rigorous quantification of viral titers, allows for synchronous coinfections producing high end-product titers. In this chapter, we describe the streamlined workflow for generation and quantification of high-quality recombinant baculovirus stocks and successful coinfection as defined by a preponderance of dually infected cells in the insect cell culture.

Mammalian cell lines are one of the best options when it comes to the production of complex proteins requiring specific glycosylation patterns. Plasmid DNA transfection and stable cell lines are frequently used for recombinant protein production, but they are expensive at large scale or can become time-consuming, respectively. The BacMam baculovirus (BV) is a safe and cost-effective platform to produce recombinant proteins in mammalian cells. The process of generating BacMam BVs is straightforward and similar to the generation of "insect" BVs, with different commercially available platforms. Although there are several protocols that describe recombinant protein expression with the BacMam BV in adherent cell lines, limited information is available on suspension cells. Therefore, it is of relevance to define the conditions to produce recombinant proteins in suspension cell cultures with BacMam BVs that facilitate bioprocess transfer to larger volumes. Here, we describe a method to generate a high titer BacMam BV stock and produce recombinant proteins in suspension HEK293 cells.

Transmembrane-4 L-six family member-1 (TM4SF1) is an atypical tetraspanin that is highly and selectively expressed in proliferating endothelial cells and plays an essential role in blood vessel development. TM4SF1 forms clusters on the cell surface called TMED (TM4SF1-enriched microdomains) and recruits other proteins that internalize along with TM4SF1 via microtubules to intracellular locations including the nucleus. We report here that tumor growth and wound healing are inhibited in Tm4sf1-heterozygous mice. Investigating the mechanisms of TM4SF1 activity, we show that 12 out of 18 signaling molecules examined are recruited to TMED on the surface of cultured human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC) and internalize along with TMED; notable among them are PLCγ and HDAC6. When TM4SF1 is knocked down in HUVEC, microtubules are heavily acetylated despite normal levels of HDAC6 protein, and, despite normal levels of VEGFR2, are unable to proliferate. Together, our studies indicate that pathological angiogenesis is inhibited when levels of TM4SF1 are reduced as in Tm4sf1-heterozygous mice; a likely mechanism is that TM4SF1 regulates the intracellular distribution of signaling molecules necessary for endothelial cell proliferation and migration.

The current investigation endeavors to identify differentially expressed alternatively spliced (DAS) genes that exhibit concordant expression with splicing factors (SFs) under diverse multifactorial abiotic stress combinations in Arabidopsis seedlings. SFs serve as the post-transcriptional mechanism governing the spatiotemporal dynamics of gene expression. The different stresses encompass variations in salt concentration, heat, intensive light, and their combinations. Clusters demonstrating consistent expression profiles were surveyed to pinpoint DAS/SF gene pairs exhibiting concordant expression. Through rigorous selection criteria, which incorporate alignment with documented gene functionalities and expression patterns observed in this study, four members of the serine/arginine-rich (SR) gene family were delineated as SFs concordantly expressed with six DAS genes. These regulated SF genes encompass cactin, SR1-like, SR30, and SC35-like. The identified concordantly expressed DAS genes encode diverse proteins such as the 26.5 kDa heat shock protein, chaperone protein DnaJ, potassium channel GORK, calcium-binding EF hand family protein, DEAD-box RNA helicase, and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase 6. Among the concordantly expressed DAS/SF gene pairs, SR30/DEAD-box RNA helicase, and SC35-like/1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase 6 emerge as promising candidates, necessitating further examinations to ascertain whether these SFs orchestrate splicing of the respective DAS genes. This study contributes to a deeper comprehension of the varied responses of the splicing machinery to abiotic stresses. Leveraging these DAS/SF associations shows promise for elucidating avenues for augmenting breeding programs aimed at fortifying cultivated plants against heat and intensive light stresses.

The relationship between diet and health is well-researched, and there is also information regarding the effects of diet on mental health. This study aimed to investigate whether motivation to optimize lifestyles without regulations or restrictions could improve the health of rotating shift workers. In this pilot study, 18 male shift workers were randomly divided into two groups. All participants completed the Short Form Health Survey-36 questionnaire (SF-36) before the start and at the end of the study. Group I (n = 9, mean age 42 ± 6.6 y) received dietary and lifestyle information every other month for one year, and the other, Group II (n = 9 mean age 36 ± 7.3 y), one year later. All participants were motivated to follow the trained dietary recommendations and to engage in physical activity. Almost all scores had improved. Surprisingly, physical performance scores worsened, which was not expected. The impairment in mental health due to the change in ownership of the company could have been better explained. Nutritional advice over a longer period and the motivation to integrate more exercise into everyday life can potentially improve the health of rotating shift workers.

Bacillus thuringiensis Vip3Aa has been widely used in transgenic crops to resist the erosion of insects. The Scavenger Receptor-C (SR-C) and Fibroblast Growth Factor Receptor (FGFR) of Spodoptera frugiperda (Sf-SR-C and Sf-FGFR) have formerly been identified as the cell receptors of Vip3Aa. However, the interaction mechanism of Vip3Aa binding to Sf-SR-C or Sf-FGFR is still unknown. Here, we purified the MAM domain of Sf-SR-C (Sf-MAM) and the Sf-FGFR ectodomain expressed extracellularly by Sf9 cells. We then solved the crystal structure of the Sf-MAM domain. Structure docking analysis of the Sf-MAM and Vip3Aa C-terminal domain (CTD) excluded the possibility of the two proteins binding. A further surface plasmon resonance (SPR) assay also revealed that the Sf-MAM and Sf-FGFR ectodomain could not bind to the Vip3Aa protein. Our results have raised the urgency of determining the authentic cell receptor for Vip3Aa.

The removal of dissolved organic matter (DOM) from seawater before the reverse osmosis (RO) processes is crucial for alleviating organic fouling of RO membranes. However, research is still insufficiently developed in the comparison of the effectiveness of integrating coagulation with ultrafiltration (UF) or sand filtration (SF) in the pretreatment stage of seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) for the removal of DOM. In this study, we investigated the effect of pretreatment technologies on RO fouling caused by DOM in seawater, including the integration of coagulation and sand filtration (C-S pretreatment) and the integration of coagulation and ultrafiltration (C-U pretreatment). Both integrated pretreatments achieved comparable DOM removal rates (70.2% for C-U and 69.6% for C-S), and C-S exhibited enhanced removal of UV-absorbing compounds. Although C-U was more proficient in reducing the silt density index (below 2) compared to C-S (above 3) and improved the elimination of humic acid-like organics, it left a higher proportion of tyrosine-protein-like organics, soluble microbial by-product-like organics, and finer organics in the effluent, leading to the formation of a dense cake layer on RO membrane and a higher flux decline. Therefore, suitable technologies should be selected according to specific water conditions to efficiently mitigate RO membrane fouling.

Aim: After pancreaticoduodenectomy, 20-40% of patients develop steatotic liver disease (SLD), and steatohepatitis can be a problem. Although patatin-like phospholipase domain-containing 3 protein (PNPLA3) and transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2 (TM6SF2) polymorphisms are involved in SLD and steatohepatitis development, whether this is the case after pancreaticoduodenectomy is unclear. Methods and Results: Forty-three patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy at our hospital between April 1, 2018, and March 31, 2021, were included. We extracted DNA from noncancerous areas of residual specimens after pancreaticoduodenectomy and determined PNPLA3 and TM6SF2 gene polymorphisms using real-time polymerase chain reaction. SLD was defined as a liver with an attenuation value of ≤40 HU or a liver-to-spleen ratio of ≤0.9 on computed tomography. We defined high hepatic fibrosis indexes (HFI) instead of steatohepatitis as a Fibrosis-4 index of ≥2.67 or nonalcoholic fatty liver disease fibrosis score of ≥0.675 in patients with SLD. The cumulative incidence of SLD (P = 0.299) and high HFI (P = 0.987) after pancreaticoduodenectomy were not significantly different between the PNPLA3 homozygous and minor allele groups. The incidences of high HFI at 1 year after pancreaticoduodenectomy were 16.8% and 27.0% in the TM6SF2 major homozygous and minor allele groups, respectively, with a significant difference in the cumulative incidence (P = 0.046). Conclusion: The TM6SF2 minor allele may contribute to steatohepatitis development after pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Background: Multiple-breath washout (MBW) is a sensitive method for assessing lung volumes and ventilation inhomogeneity in infants, but remains prone to artefacts (e.g., sighs). There is a lack of tools for systematic retrospective analysis of existing datasets, and unlike N2-MBW in older children, there are few specific quality control (QC) criteria for artefacts in infant SF6-MBW. Aim: We aimed to develop a computer-based tool for systematic evaluation of visual QC criteria of SF6-MBW measurements and to investigate interrater agreement and effects on MBW outcomes among three independent examiners. Methods: We developed a software package for visualization of raw Spiroware (Eco Medics AG, Switzerland) and signal processed WBreath (ndd Medizintechnik AG, Switzerland) SF6-MBW signal traces. Interrater agreement among three independent examiners (two experienced, one novice) who systematically reviewed 400 MBW trials for visual artefacts and the decision to accept/reject the washin and washout were assessed. Results: Our tool visualizes MBW signals and provides the user with (i) display options (e.g., zoom), (ii) options for a systematic QC assessment [e.g., decision to accept or reject, identification of artefacts (leak, sigh, irregular breathing pattern, breath hold), and comments], and (iii) additional information (e.g., automatic identification of sighs). Reviewer agreement was good using pre-defined QC criteria (κ 0.637-0.725). Differences in the decision to accept/reject had no substantial effect on MBW outcomes. Conclusion: Our visual quality control tool supports a systematic retrospective analysis of existing data sets. Based on predefined QC criteria, even inexperienced users can achieve comparable MBW results.

CONTEXT: This research aims to offer a deeper understanding of the bonding interactions between M-Se and M-CO and how these interactions change across the group 6 transition metal series: [Se2M3(CO)10]2- (M = Cr, Mo, W). It also seeks to explore the impact of carbonyl groups on M-M interactions within the clusters. Seven criteria, which are based on QTAIM properties, have been considered and compared with the corresponding criteria in other transition metal clusters. The results confirm that no such bond critical points or bond baths occur between transition metals, which instead have 5c-7e bonding interactions delocalized over their five-membered M3(µ-Se)2 ring, as evidenced by the non-negligible nonbonding delocalization indices. The topological properties of three bond clusters, Cr-Se, Mo-Se, and W-Se, resemble those of "intermediate closed shell characters," which combine covalent and electrostatic properties. Source function calculations indicated that the bonded Se atom contributed the most to each Cr-Se and Mo-Se bcp. The OCO atoms and nonbonded Se atoms also contributed to some extent. However, metal atoms act as sinks rather than as sources of electron density. In contrast, the majority of the metal atoms, both bonded and nonbonded, contribute to Cr-W bcps. Analysis of the delocalization indices δ(M…O) in the three clusters indicates that CO significantly contributes to Cr π-back donation in cluster 1. In contrast, no π-back donation occurs from CO to Mo or W in clusters 2 or 3, respectively. METHODS: The B3P86 hybrid functional was used for computations in the Gaussian 09 software. The LanL2DZ basis set was employed for Cr, Mo, and W, while the 6-31G (d, p) basis set was used for C, O, and Se atoms. We performed QTAIM analysis using the AIM2000 and Multiwfn packages, incorporating B3P86/WTBS for Cr, Mo, and W atoms. The 6-311++G(3df,3pd) basis set was used for C, O, and Se atoms. Additionally, we utilized the ELF and SF.

Mast cells take up extracellular latent heparanase and store it in secretory granules. The present study examined whether the enzymatic activity of heparanase regulates its uptake efficiency. Recombinant mouse heparanase mimicking both the latent and mature forms (L-Hpse and M-Hpse, respectively) was internalized into mastocytoma MST cells, peritoneal cell-derived mast cells, and bone marrow-derived mast cells. The internalized amount of L-Hpse was significantly higher than that of M-Hpse. In MST cells, L-Hpse was continuously internalized for up to 8 h, while the uptake of M-Hpse was saturated after 2 h of incubation. L-Hpse and M-Hpse are similarly bound to the MST cell surface. The expression level of cell surface heparan sulfate was reduced in MST cells incubated with M-Hpse. The internalized amount of M-Hpse into mast cells was significantly increased in the presence of heparastatin (SF4), a small molecule heparanase inhibitor that does not affect the binding of heparanase to immobilized heparin. Enzymatically quiescent M-Hpse was prepared with a point mutation at Glu335. The internalized amount of mutated M-Hpse was significantly higher than that of wild-type M-Hpse but similar to that of wild-type and mutated L-Hpse. These results suggest that the enzymatic activity of heparanase negatively regulates the mast cell-mediated uptake of heparanase, possibly via the downregulation of cell surface heparan sulfate expression.

Myelodysplastic neoplasms (MDS) are a heterogenous group of clonal stem cell disorders characterized by dysplasia and cytopenia in one or more cell lineages. Anemia is a very common symptom that is often treated with blood transfusions and/or erythropoiesis stimulating factors. Iron overload results from a combination of these factors together with the disease-associated ineffective erythropoiesis, that is seen especially in MDS cases with SF3B1 mutations. A growing body of research has shown that erythroferrone is an important regulator of hepcidin, the master regulator of systemic iron homeostasis. Consequently, it is of interest to understand how this molecule contributes to regulating the iron balance in MDS patients. This short review evaluates our current understanding of erythroferrone in general, but more specifically in MDS and seeks to place in context how the current knowledge could be utilized for prognostication and therapy.

OBJECTIVES: To compare PaO2/FiO2 (PF ratio) to SpO2/FiO2 (SF ratio) and oxygenation index (OI) to oxygenation saturation index (OSI) for predicting short term outcomes [mortality, progression to ventilation and ventilator free days (VFD)] and compare trends of S/F and OSI in predicting early mortality in children with acute hypoxemic respiratory distress. METHODS: This prospective observational study included 200 consecutive children with acute hypoxemic respiratory distress. Serial PF and SF ratios calculated at 0, 6, 24 and 48 h were compared and their trends were utilized for prediction of 28 d mortality. Same was done in ventilated patients using OI and OSI. RESULTS: SF ratio at admission had a 72% sensitivity and 60% specificity while PF had a sensitivity of 78% and a specificity of 75% for prediction of mortality. The area under the curve (AUC) for SF ratio was 0.82 (CI: 0.688-0.915). Serial SF ratios accurately predicted mortality. OI had sensitivity of 92% and specificity of 95% in predicting 24 and 48 h mortality. OSI had 95% sensitivity and 92% specificity in predicting mortality with AUC 1.000 (CI- 1.00-1.00) at 24 and 48 h post ventilation. Serially increasing OI and OSI trends had an inverse correlation with VFDs (p <0.01). CONCLUSIONS: SF is a reliable surrogate for PF and a useful predictor of progression to ventilation and survival at discharge while OSI is a useful marker of worsening hypoxia and mortality in ventilated patients.

Objectives: To investigate quality of life using the SF-12 scale in euthyroid Hashimoto's thyroiditis patients on levothyroxine therapy for at least three years. Methods: This prospective case-control study included 44 euthyroid Hashimoto's thyroiditis patients and 44 matched controls, conducted at a university hospital's endocrinology clinic from 6 November to 30 December 2023. Participants completed the SF-12 questionnaire; data were analyzed using Shapiro-Wilk, Student's t-test, Mann-Whitney U, Yates chi-squared, and Spearman's tests. Results: The study involved 88 participants (Hashimoto's group: 35 females, 9 males; control group: 31 females, 13 males), with average ages of 49.50 and 47.43 years old, respectively. Significant differences were observed in TSH, T4 levels, and family history (p < 0.05). The Hashimoto's thyroiditis group showed higher thyroid peroxidase antibodies (95.69 IU/mL) and lower scores on both physical and mental sub-dimensions of SF-12, with a significant difference in physical scores (p < 0.05). Significant correlations were found between age and Anti-TG; Anti-TPO and Anti-TG; BMI and T3; TSH and T4; HDL and triglycerides; MCS-12 and PCS-12; Anti-TPO and T3; cholesterol and T3; and LDL and cholesterol (p < 0.05). Other variables showed no significant correlations (p > 0.05). Conclusions: Our study shows that effective control of hypothyroidism is not sufficient to reduce the negative effects of Hashimoto's thyroiditis on patients' health-related quality of life. Beyond the normalization of hormone levels, comprehensive therapeutic strategies targeting the autoimmune aspects of the disease are essential for the management of Hashimoto's thyroiditis. This study provides a foundation for developing effective therapies that can enhance quality of life for patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis.

Introduction: Acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) is a major cause of death among critically ill patients in intensive care settings, underscoring the need to identify biomarkers capable of predicting ARDS patient clinical status and prognosis at an early time point. This study specifically sought to explore the utility and clinical relevance of TM9SF1 as a biomarker for the early prediction of disease severity and prognostic outcomes in patients with ARDS. Methods: This study enrolled 123 patients with severe ARDS and 116 patients with non-severe ARDS for whom follow-up information was available. The mRNA levels of TM9SF1 and cytokines in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from these patients were evaluated by qPCR. The predictive performance of TM9SF1 and other clinical indicators was evaluated using received operating characteristic (ROC) curves. A predictive nomogram was developed based on TM9SF1 expression and evaluated for its ability in the early prediction of severe disease and mortality in patients with ARDS. Results: TM9SF1 mRNA expression was found to be significantly increased in patients with severe ARDS relative to those with non-severe disease or healthy controls. ARDS severity increased in correspondence with the level of TM9SF1 expression (odds ratio [OR] = 2.43, 95% confidence interval [CI] = 2.15-3.72, P = 0.005), and high TM9SF1 levels were associated with a greater risk of mortality (hazard ratio [HR] = 2.27, 95% CI = 2.20-4.39, P = 0.001). ROC curves demonstrated that relative to other clinical indicators, TM9SF1 offered superior performance in the prediction of ARDS severity and mortality. A novel nomogram incorporating TM9SF1 expression together with age, D-dimer levels, and C-reactive protein (CRP) levels was developed and was used to predict ARDS severity (AUC = 0.887, 95% CI = 0.715-0.943). A separate model incorporating TM9SF1 expression, age, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and D-dimer levels (C-index = 0.890, 95% CI = 0.627-0.957) was also developed for predicting mortality. Conclusion: Increases in ARDS severity and patient mortality were observed with rising levels of TM9SF1 expression. TM9SF1 may thus offer utility as a novel biomarker for the early prediction of ARDS patient disease status and clinical outcomes.
