Atomically thin two-dimensional (2D) materials have gained significant attention from the research community in the fabrication of high-performance optoelectronic devices. Even though there are various techniques to improve the responsivity of the photodetector, the key factor limiting the performance of the photodetectors is constrained photodetection spectral range in the electromagnetic spectrum. In this work, a mixed-dimensional 0D/2D SnS2-QDs/monolayer MoS2 hybrid is fabricated for high-performance and broadband (UV-visible-near-infrared (NIR)) photodetector. Monolayer MoS2 is deposited on SiO2/Si using chemical vapor deposition (CVD), and SnS2-QDs are prepared using a low-cost solution-processing method. The high performance of the fabricated 0D/2D photodetector is ascribed to the band bending and built-in potential created at the junction of SnS2-QDs and MoS2, which enhances the injection and separation efficiency of the photoexcited charge carriers. The mixed-dimensional structure also suppresses the dark current of the photodetector. The decorated SnS2-QDs on monolayer MoS2 not only improve the performance of the device but also extends the spectral range to the UV region. Photoresponsivity of the device for UV, visible, and NIR region is found to be ∼278, ∼ 435, and ∼189 A/W, respectively. Fabricated devices showed maximum responsivity under the visible region attributed to the high absorbance of monolayer MoS2. The response time of the fabricated device is measured as ∼100 ms. These results reveal that the development of a mixed-dimensional (0D/2D) SnS2-QDs/MoS2-based high-performance and broadband photodetector is technologically promising for next-generation optoelectronic applications.

Semiconductor nanoparticle-mediated photocatalysis is an attractive option for water decontamination, being the semiconductors as SnS2 with a bandgap in the visible region, the most promising materials. In the present work, we evaluated the influence of important parameters in the photocatalytic application of SnS2 nanoparticles. Our results show that the presence of citric acid (used as a capping agent) restricts the formation of hexagonal nanoparticles. We also demonstrated that using thioacetamide as a sulfur source results in smaller nanoparticles than thiourea, 24.0 nm and 616 nm respectively. Moreover, small hexagonal nanoparticles play a key role in the photocatalytic activity of SnS2 nanoparticles. Compared with TiO2 performance, SnS2 nanoparticles exhibited faster kinetics for methyl orange (MO) degradation, Kapp = 0.0102 min-1, and 0.029 min-1, respectively. We proved that SnS2 is capable of breaking the azo bond of methyl orange by direct reduction. Furthermore, our analyses indicate that SnS2 nanoparticles do not degrade atrazine and imazapic, but the photocatalytic route of metribuzin competed with photolysis, resulting in a particular transformation product that was not obtained with light irradiation only. We demonstrated that SnS2 nanoparticles have high bond selectivity for azo breaking. Furthermore, they represent an advance for the development of designed materials (such as heterostructures), where the properties of SnS2 can be tuned.

In this work, a novel CdS-SnS-SnS2/rGO photocatalyst with two tin valence states (Ⅱ and IV) was successfully synthesized by a one-pot solvothermal method. For comparison, CdS-SnS2/rGO (GCS2) with tin in only the IV valence state was made by the same method. Based on a series of characterizations, CdS, SnS and SnS2 were shown to be successfully loaded onto the rGO surface. The introduction of rGO may increase charge carrier separation. The degradation efficiency increased gradually with increasing rGO loading content, and the optimum photocatalytic activity was observed at 6.0 wt% rGO loading content (GCS1), which achieved the efficient removal (84.46%) of ibuprofen over 60 min. Compared with GCS2, the CdS-SnS-SnS2/rGO composite exhibited significantly improved photocatalytic performance, which can be ascribed to the formation of a double heterostructure. rGO worked as a transfer mediator to transfer electrons from the conduction band (CB) of SnS to the CB of SnS2 at the heterointerface, which then flowed to the CB of CdS because of another heterojunction, further enhancing the separation efficiency of photogenerated carriers. Therefore, this study highlights a novel double heterojunction system with a facial preparation method, visible light response and good recyclability, which is beneficial for environmental remediation.

Previous studies suggest that older adults are living increasingly alone and without the company of their close relatives, which cause them depression problems and a detriment to their health and general wellbeing. The use of social network sites (SNS) allows them to reduce their isolation, improve their social participation, and increase their autonomy. Although the adoption of various information technologies by older adults has been studied, some assumptions still predominate, for example, that older adults use SNS only for utilitarian purposes. However, considering SNS as hedonic information systems, and in order to extend the theoretical explanation of the intention to use hedonic systems to their actual use, this study aims to determine the influence of perceived enjoyment, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use on the use of SNS by elders in Concepción, Chile. Two hundred fifty-three older adults participated in the cross-sectional study. The results indicate that perceived ease of use is the variable that has the greatest total effect in explaining the use of SNS and that by adding the perceived enjoyment construct, the explanatory power of the model increases significantly. Therefore, advancement in user acceptance models, especially in the use of SNS by elders, can be made by focusing on the type of system, hedonic or utilitarian.

Las Social Networking Sites (SNS) o Redes sociales, en español, han intervenido en todos los ámbitos de la vida humana y el escenario laboral no ha sido ajeno a ello; es así como el objetivo de esta investigación es conocer de qué manera se aplican estas redes a los procesos de reclutamiento y selección del talento humano, a través de una revisión sistemática de la literatura en las bases de datos ISI Web of Science y Scopus, desde el año 2001 hasta 2016, que incluye las etapas de planeación, ejecución y diseminación de los resultados. El estudio del tema ha despertado a lo largo del tiempo un interés en el mundo científico, lo que permitió identificar los usos que las empresas le están dando a estas plataformas en el mercado laboral. Los principales resultados muestran que el contenido publicado por los candidatos repercute en las decisiones de los reclutadores, así como la discriminación que estas acarrean ha desencadenado un debate ético y legal, donde países como Estados Unidos han desarrollado iniciativas legales para regularlas. Con esto se logró crear bases para futuras investigaciones en torno a un tema que está incidiendo significativamente en la dinámica empresarial actual.


The Social Networking Sites (SNS) or Redes Sociales, in Spanish, have taken essential part within every human life sphere and workspace has not been indifferent to this. The objective of this research is to know how the Social Networking Sites are being applied to recruitment and selection processes through a systematic literature review in ISI Web of Science and Scopus databases, from 2001 to 2016 that includes planning, implementation and dissemination of results. It has been found that the study of this topic has awakened over an especial interest in the scientific world throughout the time, which allowed to identify the uses that nowadays are being given to this platform in the labor market. The main results show that the content published by the candidates affects the decisions of the recruiters, promoting discrimination that has triggered into an ethical and legal debate, where countries such as the United States have developed legal initiatives to regulate these practices. In this way the present article has created bases for future research on a subject that is meaningfully influencing in the business dynamic.


Os sites de redes sociais (SNS) ou redes sociais, em espanhol, ter sido envolvido em todas as áreas da vida humana e do cenário de trabalho não tem sido alheio a ele; Assim, o objetivo desta pesquisa é entender como essas redes se aplica ao recrutamento e selecção de talento humano através de uma revisão sistemática da literatura nas bases de dados ISI Web of Science e Scopus, de 200I-20I6, que inclui as fases de planejamento, implementação e divulgação dos resultados. O estudo do assunto tem despertado ao longo do tempo um interesse no mundo científico, que identificou os usos que as empresas estão dando essas plataformas no mercado de trabalho. Os principais resultados mostram que o teor candidatos afeta as decisões dos recrutadores, e que estes discriminação vínculo provocou um debate ético e legal, onde países como os Estados Unidos têm desenvolvido iniciativas legais para regulá-los. Com isso, foi possível criar uma fundação para futuras pesquisas sobre uma questão que está impactando significativamente a dinâmica de negócios atuais.

The scholarl y world is seriousl y debating the critical need for some legal statutes or legislation helping to establish a differentiation between sexual images and content susually created and shared by teenagers and young adults through mobile phones and what is known today as cyberporn, a new method developed by pedophiles using the internet as a means to sexually harass and exploit children. This paper, mainly based on secondary analyses, includes empirical research conducted on 13 police officers, 20 teenagers, and 20 parents of teenagers. It reveals the severity of the situation and emphasizes the urgency for an immediate and appropriate legal response.


Se debate seriamente en el mundo académico de hoy la necesidad crucial de una legislación o de estatutos jurídicos tendientes a establecer una clara diferenciación entre las imágenes de índole sexual, creadas y compartidas por adolescentes y jóvenes adultos usualmente a través de sus telé-fonos móviles (sexting), y la pornografía cibernética (cyberporn), desarrollada por pedófilos usando la internet para acechar, corromper y explotar sexualmente tanto a niños como a otros menores de edad. Este artículo, basado primordialmente en un análisis secundario, incluye una investigación empírica sobre 13 agentes de policía, 20 adolescentes y 20 progenitores de adolescentes. En ella se revela la gravedad dela situación y se hace hincapié en la urgencia de una apropiadae inmediata respuesta legal.


O mundo acadêmico está debatendo seriamente a necessidade crítica de estatutos legais para diferenciar entre as imagens sexuais que os adolescentes e os adultos jóvens críam para compartilhar entre eles e a pornografia cibernética desenvolvida pelos pedófilos para molestar e explorar as crianças. Esse documento, baseado principalmente na análise secundária, inclui a pesquisa empírica realizada em 13 oficiais da polícia, 20 adolescentes, e 20 pais dos adolescentes.Revela a gravidade da situação e enfatiza a exigência por uma resposta legal imediata e apropriada.

Acute stress induces short-term object recognition memory impairment and elicits endogenous opioid system activation. The aim of this study was thus to evaluate whether opiate system activation mediates the acute stress-induced object recognition memory changes. Adult male Wistar rats were trained in an object recognition task designed to test both short- and long-term memory. Subjects were randomly assigned to receive an intraperitoneal injection of saline, 1 mg/kg naltrexone or 3 mg/kg naltrexone, four and a half hours before the sample trial. Five minutes after the injection, half the subjects were submitted to movement restraint during four hours while the other half remained in their home cages. Non-stressed subjects receiving saline (control) performed adequately during the short-term memory test, while stressed subjects receiving saline displayed impaired performance. Naltrexone prevented such deleterious effect, in spite of the fact that it had no intrinsic effect on short-term object recognition memory. Stressed subjects receiving saline and non-stressed subjects receiving naltrexone performed adequately during the long-term memory test; however, control subjects as well as stressed subjects receiving a high dose of naltrexone performed poorly. Control subjects' dissociated performance during both memory tests suggests that the short-term memory test induced a retroactive interference effect mediated through light opioid system activation; such effect was prevented either by low dose naltrexone administration or by strongly activating the opioid system through acute stress. Both short-term memory retrieval impairment and long-term memory improvement observed in stressed subjects may have been mediated through strong opioid system activation, since they were prevented by high dose naltrexone administration. Therefore, the activation of the opioid system plays a dual modulating role in object recognition memory.
