RESUMO

The primary objective of science postgraduate education is to foster students' capacity for creative thinking and problem-solving, particularly in the context of scientific research quality. In order to achieve this goal, the "7E" teaching mood has been implemented in the cell biology course for postgraduate students to promote student-centered active inquiry learning instead of breaking away from traditional indoctrination-based teaching methods. This study demonstrates that the implementation of the "7E" teaching mode, through content programming, process design, and effect evaluation, effectively meets the needs of the majority of students, fosters their interest in learning, enhances their performance in comprehensive questioning, and enhances their innovative abilities in scientific research. Consequently, this research offers a theoretical framework and practical foundation for the development of the "7E" teaching mode in postgraduate courses, aiming to cultivate highly skilled scientific professionals.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIM: Driven by Innovation 2.0 (the information age, the innovation form of the knowledge society), the form evolved by the Internet development, giving rise to economic and social development ("Internet +"). With this background, a novel approach is presented for fostering excellence in physicians, aligning with the contemporary demands of our era. METHODS: Self-administered questionnaire was used to facilitate the collection of data on medical advanced mathematics course offerings, distribution of teaching hours of each major and the perception of the course teaching system in 11 medical universities in China. The distribution of course offerings in each major was analyzed, and one-sample t-test was conducted on the perspectives of course offerings, content settings (theoretical & practical), educational objectives, teaching reforms, and Synthetical Sensation (SS) of the curriculum system and educational model. RESULTS: The study included various specialties such as clinical medicine, pharmacy, public health, health management, and life sciences, all of which offered advanced mathematics course. The content of medical mathematics textbooks was designed to meet the practical needs of relevant professions, and encompass online laboratory classes and social practice. However, a noticeable misalignment was observed between the content of medical mathematics courses and the realistic requirements of professions (t = -3.614~-3.018, P < 0.05). The perceived difference in the completeness of curriculum systems was not significantly apparent. There was a difference in the perception of the effectiveness of teaching reforms (t = -4.485, P < 0.05), and there was a difference in the perception of the synthesis of the educational model in all cases (t = -5.067, P < 0.05). CONCLUSION: There are localized differences in curricula, and the number of course hours is basically reasonable; course content needs to be updated; the implementation of course objectives is not in place; the curriculum system can meet the needs of talent training; the innovation of the education model needs to be put into practice; and there are obvious differences in the comprehensive cognition of the teaching system and the education model. Based on the analysis of the problems, we build a new STC teaching mode with smart classroom based on "professional needs, practical needs and requirements for cultivating excellent physician talents".

RESUMO

Electronic components are rapidly updated in the context of expanding application requirements, and communication protocols used in combination with various electronic devices are also emerging. On this basis, IoT technology has developed a variety of sensor devices and gateways, which are widely used in cities. In the field of wisdom, applying IoT technology to classrooms can effectively improve the deficiencies of traditional teaching models. Fuzzy control theory is usually based on fuzzy sets in mathematics, and is combined with neural network, genetic and probability algorithms to form a calculation method. Fuzzy calculation has the ability to simplify the system input of a variety of complex variables, and its applications in the field of education are mainly: provide evaluation of teachers' teaching effectiveness. The advancement of science and technology has promoted the change and updating of the teaching mode. With the continuous advancement of basic education curriculum reform and the continuous deepening of classroom teaching reform, classroom teaching is also in urgent need of reform, from traditional classrooms to smart classrooms. Smart classrooms combine advanced technology with teachers' teaching. Through the dynamic data, the analysis instantly understands the student's learning situation, and then integrates it into education and teaching in a targeted manner. This paper conducts a questionnaire survey on the current situation of smart classroom teaching, and summarizes the current teaching problems. Then, combining the Internet of Things, fuzzy control and deep learning technology, from the two aspects of school teachers and students, it is proposed for smart classroom to promote students' learning effect. With its novel and new-style teaching advantages, smart classroom has gradually entered the public's vision and gained the attention and support of the majority of educators. Taking Grand Wisdom Classroom as an example, it uses the "Internet +" way of thinking and the new generation of information technology such as big data and cloud computing to create intelligent and efficient classrooms, realizing the whole process of application before, during and after class, and promoting the development of students' wisdom. Under the mobile Internet model, students and teachers can communicate anytime and anywhere. Combined with the analysis and application of our big data technology, data-based precision teaching becomes possible. In a real sense, learning before teaching can be realized and teaching can be determined by learning.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: After the COVID-19 epidemic, the state has paid more attention to the clinical teaching function of affiliated hospitals of colleges and universities. Strengthening the integration of medicine and education and improving the quality and effect of clinical practice teaching are critical challenges facing medical education. The difficulty of orthopedic teaching lies in the characteristics of a wide variety of diseases, strong professionalism, and relatively abstract characteristics, which affect the initiative, enthusiasm, and learning effect of nursing students. In this study, a flipped classroom teaching plan based on the CDIO (conceive-design-implement-operate) concept was constructed and practiced in the orthopedic nursing student training course to improve the effect of practical teaching, and it is convenient for teachers to implement more effective and targeted teaching in the flipped classroom of nursing education and even medical education in the future. METHODS: Fifty undergraduate nursing students who practiced in the Orthopedics Department of a tertiary hospital in June 2017 were enrolled in the control group, while 50 undergraduate nursing students who practiced in the same department in June 2018 were enrolled in the intervention group. The intervention group adopted the flipped classroom teaching mode of the CDIO concept, whereas the control group adopted the traditional teaching mode. After finishing the department practice task, the students in the two groups completed the evaluation of theory, operation skills, independent learning ability, and critical thinking ability. They completed the evaluation of clinical practice ability in eight dimensions, including four processes of nursing procedures, humanistic care ability, and evaluation of clinical teaching quality for two groups of teachers. RESULTS: After teaching, the clinical practice ability, critical thinking ability, autonomous learning ability, theoretical and operational performance, and evaluation of clinical teaching quality in the intervention group were significantly higher than those in the control group (all p < 0.05). CONCLUSION: The CDIO-based teaching mode can stimulate the independent learning ability and critical thinking ability of nursing interns, promote the organic combination of theory and practice, improve their ability to comprehensively use theoretical knowledge to analyze and solve practical problems, and improve teaching effectiveness.

RESUMO

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) colleges and universities are important positions for inheriting and innovating the TCM culture. Exploring the innovation of teaching modes of ideological and political courses in TCM colleges and universities is a hot topic in current researches on education and teaching reform. There are some problems in the characteristic construction of ideological and political courses in TCM colleges and universities, such as insufficient effective integration of TCM culture, incomplete integrated design, and lack of supervision and evaluation system. In practical exploration, the "11432" teaching mode of ideological and political course based on the cultural characteristics of TCM has been formed. It is guided by "two major goals" and "three requirements", and organically integrates the TCM culture into the teaching of ideological and political course according to the principle of gradual progress. It takes the "Four Adherences" as its practice practical focus, and strives to create a "student-centered" classroom teaching mode. What’s more, it focuses on promoting the organic integration of TCM culture and ideological and political courses from the "five dimensions" in accordance with the fundamental task of "fostering virtue through education" and the requirements for talent training in TCM colleges and universities.

RESUMO

With the rapid development of information technology and the change in military education policy in the new era, online teaching has gradually become one of the main approaches to implement the clinical medical education in military teaching hospitals. In this study, the online teaching was performed mainly by pre-recorded teaching, supplemented by online live teaching. Massive open online courses (MOOCs) and the seminar-style teaching were advocated to be used in advanced disciplines. The quality of online teaching was guaranteed through infrastructure provision, teacher arrangement, teaching preparation, teaching interactivity, after-class test, teaching evaluation, supervision, and summary of teaching, which ultimately achieved a good effect. The results of the two-way questionnaires of 26 teachers and 129 students showed that 23.26% (30/129) of students and 65.38% (17/26) of teachers believed that students' learning ability was insufficient. 34.88% (45/129) of students and 23.08% (6/26) of teachers thought that the existing technology could not meet the requirements of online teaching. 55.04% (71/129) of students and 69.23% (18/26) of teachers held the view that the effect of online teaching was inferior to face-to-face teaching. 28.68% (37/129) of students and 57.69% (15/26) of faculty asked for the return of face-to-face education. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the construction of smart classroom platforms, establish a well-developed online teaching quality evaluation system, and integrate various innovative teaching modes with the online teaching. In these ways, it is expected to optimize the online teaching of clinical medicine and achieve the goal of online teaching.

Objective:To study the teaching effect of the teaching method of case-based learning (CBL) combined with team-based learning (TBL) based on the standard patient (SP) in the clinical teaching of department of intensive care medicine. Methods:A total of 60 medical students clinically studying in the department of intensive care medicine were randomly divided into 2 groups, with 30 students in each group. The two groups received the clinical teaching through the lecture-based learning (LBL) teaching method and the CBL combined with TBL based on SP teaching method respectively. By evaluating the clinical synthesis ability of the students of two groups and the satisfaction survey of the two teaching methods, the teaching effect was evaluated. SPSS 19.0 statistical software was used to perform Chi-square test and t-test. Results:Compared with LBL teaching method, the students who accepted the CBL combined with TBL based on SP teaching method had significantly better clinical comprehensive ability ( P < 0.05), mainly in their clinical thinking ability [(4.18±0.55) vs. (3.66±0.47)], clinical skills [(4.03±0.61) vs. (3.59±0.52)] and communication ability with patients [(4.11±0.58) vs. (3.74±0.50)]. In addition, student satisfaction with teaching methods was also higher ( P <0.05), especially in the satisfaction of learning interest [(4.38 ± 0.72) vs. (3.65±0.56)], self-learning ability [(4.24±0.71) vs. (3.91±0.52)], clinical thinking ability [(4.09±0.66) vs. (3.22±0.54)], communication ability [(4.42±0.60) vs. (3.67±0.48)], and team cooperation spirit [(4.15±0.58) vs. (3.78±0.51)]. Conclusion:The teaching method of CBL combined with TBL based on SP is feasible and has good teaching effect in the clinical teaching of department of intensive care medicine.

RESUMO

Background: Sichuan University West China Medical School was the first institution in China to develop an undergraduate sonographer education program in 2016. This program was certificated by American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and students are qualified for the ARDMS credential verification test. In this 4-year program, the international curriculum of ultrasound physics and hemodynamics was set for students in the third year since 2018. This study is aimed to compare the teaching effect of international remote teaching mode and domestic on-site teaching mode of this international curriculum before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: All undergraduate sonographer students after completing ultrasound physics and hemodynamics in the academic years 2018-2019 (30 students; before the COVID-19 pandemic) and 2020-2021 (47 students; during the COVID-19 pandemic) were included in the study. The scores of 77 students were analyzed for their curriculum. Independent samples t-test or Mann-Whitney test was employed to compare students' scores before and during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Chi-square test was used to compare students' feedback about this curriculum through an online self-administered questionnaire. A p < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Total scores were comprised of four parts: in-class tests, homework, mid-term, and final exam scores. The mean in-class test score for domestic on-site teaching mode during the COVID-19 pandemic was significantly higher than that for international remote teaching mode before the COVID-19 pandemic. However, there was no observed a statistically significant difference in homework, mid-term, final exam, and total scores between the two types of teaching modes. For questionnaire feedback, no significant difference was observed between the two groups regarding the satisfaction toward teachers, class atmosphere, teaching mode, curriculum content, exam difficulty, scores, and knowledge students gained. For the overall evaluation of the curriculum, 73.3% (22/30) of students were very satisfied before the COVID-19 pandemic, while 44.7% (21/47) of students felt very satisfied during the COVID-19 pandemic (p = 0.02). Conclusion: The general teaching effect of domestic on-site teaching mode during the COVID-19 pandemic was comparable to that of international remote teaching mode before the COVID-19 pandemic, and domestic on-site teaching mode may provide a better in-class teaching effect.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Acute abdomen is a series of acute and severe abdominal diseases commonly encountered in clinic. It is important to strengthen the image teaching of acute abdomen for undergraduates. AIM: This study aimed to explore the application effect of SPARK[sub-speciality (S), problem-based learning (P), assessment (A), report (R) and reading skill (K)] teaching mode in the experimental teaching of acute abdomen for undergraduate medical students. METHODS: We selected a total of 58 third year medical students for observation. The students were divided into experimental group and control group. Among them, 29 students in the experimental group studied in SPARK teaching mode, 29 students in the control group studied in traditional teaching mode. The two groups of students were tested after the theory class, before and after the experimental class, and one week after the experimental class, to compare the application effects of the two teaching modes. After the test one week after the experimental class, the two groups of students jointly adopted SPARK mode to learn, and were tested again one month after the experimental class to compare whether the two groups of students achieved the same results. The total score of all tests was 150. RESULTS: The average scores of the experimental group and the control group after theory class were (69.0 ± 26.4) and (72.1 ± 24.1) respectively, with no statistical difference (t = 0.468, P = 0.642). The average scores of the experimental group before, after and one week after the experimental class were higher than those of the control group. The experimental group was (84.5 ± 23.1), (109.7 ± 23.8), (105.5 ± 31.0) respectively, and the control group was (52.8 ± 15.1), (93.8 ± 17.0), (80.0 ± 22.8) respectively. The differences were statistically significant (t = -6.195, P = 0.00; t = -2.919, P = 0.05; t = -3.569, P = 0.01). The average scores of the experimental group and the control group after one month were (99.0 ± 31.0) and (95.5 ± 25.6) respectively, and there was no significant difference between the two groups (t = -0.462, P = 0.646). CONCLUSIONS: The SPARK teaching mode was helpful for undergraduate medical students to consolidate image foundation, improve image reading skills.
