RESUMO

Myositis is a group of rare autoimmune disorders characterized by chronic inflammation of skeletal muscles that leads to a hallmark triad of muscle weakness, fatigue, and myalgia. Extra-muscular manifestations are sometimes seen and involve various organ systems, including the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. In this case series, two patients with polymyositis (PM) and dermatomyositis (DM), both of whom developed dysphagia as a complication of myositis, are discussed. Case 1 was a female with a known history of biopsy-proven dermatomyositis who presented with progressive peripheral edema and weakness affecting all extremities. Concurrently, she displayed symptoms of pneumonia and dysphagia associated with frequent spontaneous or self-induced vomiting to alleviate retrosternal discomfort. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) revealed esophageal dilatation and an absence of a contractile response, consistent with myositis. Treatment comprised intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG), mycophenolate, and lifestyle modifications, including dietary adjustments and maintaining an upright position postprandial. The second case was a female with muscle weakness and dysphagia. Video-fluoroscopic swallow assessment was significant for pharyngeal dysfunction without a sensory response to penetrated material, and the patient was at high risk of aspiration with any oral intake. The presence of pharyngeal dysfunction and dysphagia prompted treatment with IVIG, mycophenolate, and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) tube placement. These cases have highlighted the upper GI complications observed in patients with myositis, accentuating the necessity for a personalized treatment approach. Timely intervention has shown promising results in symptomatic relief and improving patient outcomes. This emphasizes the importance of a multidisciplinary approach when addressing myositis-related upper GI manifestations.

The aim of this study is to determine the acute effects of resistance and plyometric training on sprint and change of direction (COD) performance in healthy adults and adolescents. A systematic literature search was conducted via Medline, Cinahl, Scopus and SportDiscus databases for studies that investigated: 1) healthy male, female adults, or adolescents; and 2) measured sprint or change of direction performance following resistance and plyometric exercises. Studies were excluded if: 1) resistance or plyometric exercises was not used to induce muscle damage; 2) conducted in animals, infants, elderly; 3) sprint performance and/or agility performance was not measured 24 h post muscle damaging protocol. Study appraisal was completed using the Kmet Quality Scoring for Quantitative Study tool. Forest plots were generated to quantitatively analyse data and report study statistics for statistical significance and heterogeneity. The included studies (n = 20) revealed sprint and COD performance was significantly impaired up to 72 hr following resistance and plyometric exercises; both protocols significantly increased creatine kinase (CK), delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS) and decreased countermovement jump (CMJ) up to 72 hr. The systematic review of 20 studies indicated that resistance and plyometric training significantly impaired sprint and COD performance up to 72 hours post-exercise. Both training protocols elevated exercise-induced muscle damage (EIMD) markers (CK, DOMS) and decreased CMJ performance within the same timeframe.

Suxamethonium is considered by many to be the best drug for providing ideal intubating conditions, short surgical procedures, and rapid sequence induction. However, its usefulness is limited by the frequent occurrence of adverse effects like postoperative myalgia. Therefore this study aimed to assess the prevalence and associated factors of postoperative suxamethonium-induced myalgia. An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted on 210 patients who underwent surgery with general anesthesia. The data was collected by using structured and pretested questionnaires and analyzed using SPSS version 20.0. Logistic regression was conducted to identify significant predictors based on a P-value of less than 0.05 with a 95% confidence level. Among 210 patients the prevalence of suxamethonium-induced postoperative myalgia in the first 48 h was 88 (41.9%). Patients having previous anesthesia and surgical exposure (AOR 5.29, 95% CI 1.86-15.05), patients having a co-existing disease (AOR 2.69, 95% CI 1.08-6.67), patients that had not taken premedication (analgesia) (AOR 4.64, 95% CI 1.69-12.74), anesthesia maintenance using halothane (AOR 4.5 95% CI 1.7-11.4) and relaxation maintained with suxamethonium (AOR 3.1, 95% CI 1.2-8.1) were significantly associated with the prevalence of postoperative myalgia. The magnitude of suxamethonium-induced postoperative myalgia was high. So it is better to do with preventive techniques. As much as possible it is better to avoid using suxamethonium and necessary to use better to Premedicate with nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and non-depolarizing neuromuscular medications.

Patients with Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) frequently report symptoms such as chronic pain and muscular fatigue that can heavily impact their quality of life. The treatment for many of the physical symptoms of EDS is focused on supportive care, which may include physical therapy and exercise programs. However, many patients will experience difficulty in deriving benefits from these activities due to significant pain and fatigue from physical activity. We report a case of a 39-year-old female with a history of EDS whose physical capabilities were severely impacted by their chronic pain and fatigue symptoms. After little progress was made with their current treatment plan of analgesics, manual therapy, exercise, and physical therapy, the patient was supplemented with creatine monohydrate due to its studied benefits in muscular strength and endurance for athletes. Following supplementation, the patient reported significant benefits in their muscular fatigue symptoms, allowing them to engage in daily activities and exercises more effectively. This case demonstrates a potential addition to the treatment of EDS that can improve a patient's quality of life.

Dupilumab, a systemic injectable biologic, can be prescribed to patients with atopic dermatitis who do not respond to topical treatments. Atopy can frequently subside by blocking inflammatory pathways, such as interleukin-4 (IL-4) and interleukin-13 (IL-13) in the immune system. Dupilumab is generally well-tolerated and mild; the most common adverse reactions listed are arthralgia, back pain, and conjunctivitis, which clears upon cessation or finalization of dupilumab therapy. This case report describes a patient experiencing severe myalgia - a rare adverse effect. The patient's atopic dermatitis was refractory toward topical treatments, but within one month of starting dupilumab, he experienced severe myalgias and muscle spasms, which prompted cessation of dupilumab despite it working well for his atopic dermatitis.

Background and Aim: Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is an effective intervention for psychiatric patients. Succinylcholine is considered the drug of choice for muscle relaxation for ECT. Significant adverse effects of succinylcholine include fasciculation and myalgia. Dexmedetomidine is a highly selective α-2 adrenergic agonist. This study aims to determine the efficacy of a low dose of dexmedetomidine in reducing succinylcholine-induced myalgia in patients receiving ECT. Methods: This randomised controlled trial was conducted on 100 patients, aged 18-65 years, undergoing ECT, who were randomly allocated into two groups with an allocation ratio of 1:1. Group D received intravenous (IV) dexmedetomidine 0.25 µg/kg, and Group C received IV normal saline (0.9%). Patients' self-reported myalgia scores were measured after 60 min of the procedure. Fasciculations were noted after IV succinylcholine administration. Heart rate (HR) and mean blood pressure (MBP) were measured at baseline, after infusion (5 min) and after ECT (0, 2.5, 5, 10, 15, 30 min). Continuous data were analysed using a Student's t-test for two-group comparisons, a mixed model analysis of variance for group comparisons and various time point analyses. Categorical data were analysed using the Chi-square/Fisher's exact test. Results: There were no differences between the groups regarding demographics. Myalgia and fasciculations were less in Group D than in Group C (P < 0.001). MBP and HR changes were comparable (P > 0.05). Conclusion: A low dose of dexmedetomidine (0.25 µg/kg) effectively reduces myalgia and fasciculations due to succinylcholine in patients undergoing electroconvulsive therapy.

Activity-induced muscle pain increases interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) release from muscle macrophages and the development of hyperalgesia is prevented by blockade of IL-1ß in muscle. Brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) is released from sensory neurons in response to IL-1ß and mediates both inflammatory and neuropathic pain. Thus, we hypothesize that in activity-induced pain, fatigue metabolites combined with IL-1ß activate sensory neurons to increase BDNF release, peripherally in muscle and centrally in the spinal dorsal horn, to produce hyperalgesia. We tested the effect of intrathecal or intramuscular injection of BDNF-Tropomyosin receptor kinase B (TrkB) inhibitors, ANA-12 or TrkB-Fc, on development of activity-induced pain. Both inhibitors prevented the hyperalgesia when given before or 24hr after induction of the model in male but not female mice. BDNF messenger ribonucleic acid (mRNA) and protein were significantly increased in dorsal root ganglion (DRG) 24hr after induction of the model in both male and female mice. Blockade of IL-1ß in muscle had no effect on the increased BNDF mRNA observed in the activity-induced pain model, while IL-1ß applied to cultured DRG significantly induced BDNF expression, suggesting IL-1ß is sufficient but not necessary to induce BNDF. Thus, fatigue metabolites, combined with IL-1ß, upregulate BDNF in primary DRG neurons in both male and female mice, but contribute to activity-induced pain only in males.

BACKGROUND: Bempedoic acid exhibits promising potential in hyperlipidemia therapy and preventing cardiovascular events. However, investigations into its adverse drug reactions remain scant. This study seeks to utilize data mining techniques with the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) database to assess adverse drug events (ADEs) linked to bempedoic acid. METHODS: Based on the drug's market release timeline, we extracted data from the FAERS database covering the fourth quarter of 2020 through the fourth quarter of 2023 for disproportionality analysis. RESULTS: This study gathered a total of 5,797,543 adverse event case reports, of which 735 were linked to bempedoic acid. These reports covered 19 System Organ Classes (SOCs) and 22 Preferred Terms (PTs). Predominantly, the musculoskeletal and nervous systems were implicated in these adverse events. By conducting PT-level screening, various signals for ADEs were detected, including myalgia (ROR 30.33, PRR 28.51, IC 4.83, EBGM 28.47), arthralgia (n = 34, ROR 6.34, PRR 6.09, IC 2.61, EBGM 6.09), tendon disorders (ROR 99.57, PRR 98.75, IC 6.62, EBGM 98.28), and dizziness (ROR 3.18, PRR 3.13, IC 1.65, EBGM 3.13). Particularly noteworthy was the hypertensive crisis (ROR 28.63, PRR 28.51, IC 4.83, EBGM 28.47), which exhibited a robust signal strength, an observation previously unreported in clinical studies and drug labeling. CONCLUSION: While our results are largely consistent with the drug's specifications, several new adverse reaction signals, such as hypertensive crisis, have not been previously documented. Therefore, further investigations are necessary to assess these unlabeled adverse reactions, offering crucial support for the clinical utilization of bempedoic acid.

Objective: This study aimed to explore the prevalence, signs, and symptoms of different types of TMD (Temporomandibular joint disorders) disorders in Tunisian patients. Methods: A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted using the clinical records of patients from the Department of Functional Exploration, Pain, and Orofacial Dysfunction of the Dental Clinic of Monastir. Results: TMD is associated with a female predominance, with a peak prevalence among those aged between 20 and 40 years. Pain and a limited range of motion were significantly more prevalent in women (p = 0.019 and p = 0.012, respectively). Clicking sounds were the most frequent joint noises (38.2 %). Crepitus was more prevalent among older adults (33 %). Of the different types of TMD, disk displacement with reduction was the most prevalent (n = 216, 39 %). Sleep bruxism was more prevalent than awake bruxism (20.7 % VS 9.5 %). Due to the heterogeneous TMD signs and symptoms, patients tend to seek medical attention from various specialties (e.g. neurology and otolaryngology). Conclusion: The prevalence of different types of TMD, and the different signs and symptoms varied depending on sociodemographic characteristics, such as sex, age and lifestyle. Diagnosis is challenging and TMD may be confused with other orofacial pain conditions.

Drug-induced myopathies are a common cause of muscle pain, and the range of drugs that can cause muscle side effects is constantly expanding. In this article, the authors comprehensively discuss the diagnostic and therapeutic process in patients with myalgia, and present the spectrum of drug-induced myopathies. The review provides a detailed analysis of the literature on the incidence of myopathy during treatment with hypolipemic drugs, beta-blockers, amiodarone, colchicine, glucocorticosteroids, antimalarials, cyclosporine, zidovudine, and checkpoint inhibitors, a group of drugs increasingly used in the treatment of malignancies. The article considers the clinical course of the different types of myopathies, their pathogenesis, histopathological features, and treatment methods of these disorders. The aim of this paper is to gather from the latest available literature up-to-date information on the course, pathophysiology, and therapeutic options of drug-induced myopathies, to systematize the knowledge of drug-induced myopathies and to draw the attention of internists to the fact that these clinical issues are an important therapeutic problem.

OBJECTIVE: Long COVID, characterized by persistent symptoms post-acute COVID-19, remains a subject of intense investigation. This study focuses on pain, a common and notable symptom reported by long COVID patients. METHOD: A cohort of 191 individuals, initially diagnosed with mild-to-moderate COVID-19, was followed up 1.5 years later to assess the frequency, clinical characteristics, and factors associated with pain persistence. RESULTS: Our study revealed that 31.9% of participants experienced at least one persistent pain symptom after 1.5 years. Headache emerged as the most prevalent symptom (29.8%), followed by myalgia (5.8%) and neuropathic pain (4.2%). Factors such as female gender and the presence of neuropathic pain symptom were identified as predictors of long-term headaches. Myalgia, showed associations with headache, arthralgia, and low ferritin levels. Persistent neuropathic pain symptom (4.2%) was linked to older age, female gender, sore throat, and headache. CONCLUSION: This study provides insights into the evolution of pain symptoms over time after COVID-19 infection, emphasizing the interconnection between different pain syndromes. This research contributes to understanding the diverse and evolving nature of pain in long COVID survivors, offering valuable insights for targeted interventions and further investigations into the underlying mechanisms of persistent pain.

The purposes of this study were to quantify the physiological response to the initial two-week preseason period in elite male rugby league (RL) athletes, and to determine if a repeated bout effect (RBE) occurs. Eighteen RL players were monitored for the initial two-week preseason period. Blood samples were collected on days (D)1, D2, D4, D5, D8, D9, D11 and D12 to measure creatine kinase (CK). Neuromuscular power was assessed on D1, D5, D8 and D12. During field-based sessions, the external training load was quantified using global positioning system technology, whilst the internal load was quantified using the training impulse and the session rating of perceived exertion. Resistance-based gym session volume was quantified by total repetitions x weight lifted. Perceived measures of fatigue and muscle soreness were assessed on all training days. Two-way (day x week) repeated measures analysis of variance and Bonferroni's corrected post-hoc tests identified significant changes. There were no significant changes in CK activity (649.2 ± 255.0 vs. 673.8 ± 299.1 µL; p = 0.63) or internal training load measures from week 1 to week 2. External training load measures including total distance (4138.1 ± 198.4 vs. 4525.0 ± 169.2 m; p < 0.001) and repeated high-intensity efforts (12.6 ± 1.8 vs. 17.5 ± 1.8 au; p < 0.001) significantly increased in week 2 compared to week 1. Internal training loads and CK activity did not change in response to an increase in external training loads during the initial preseason. The current results provide support for a 'real world' perspective of the RBE phenomenon that may be more applicable for team sport practitioners.

L-tryptophan, an essential amino acid for physiological processes, metabolism, development, and growth of organisms, is widely utilized in animal nutrition and human health as a feed additive and nutritional supplement, respectively. Despite its known benefits, safety concerns have arisen due to an eosinophilia-myalgia syndrome (EMS) outbreak linked to L-tryptophan consumed by humans. Extensive research has established that the EMS outbreak was caused by an L-tryptophan product that contained certain impurities. Therefore, safety validations are imperative to endorse the use of L-tryptophan as a supplement or a feed additive. This study was conducted in tertiary hybrid [(Landrace × Yorkshire) × Duroc] pigs to assess general toxicity and potential risks for EMS-related symptoms associated with L-tryptophan used as a feed additive. Our investigation elucidated the relationship between L-tryptophan and EMS in swine. No mortalities or clinical signs were observed in any animals during the administration period, and the test substance did not induce toxic effects. Hematological analysis and histopathological examination revealed no changes in EMS-related parameters, such as eosinophil counts, lung lesions, skin lesions, or muscle atrophy. Furthermore, no test substance-related changes occurred in other general toxicological parameters. Through analyzing the tissues and organs of swine, most of the L-tryptophan impurities that may cause EMS were not retained. Based on these findings, we concluded that incorporating L-tryptophan and its impurities into the diet does not induce EMS in swine. Consequently, L-tryptophan may be used as a feed additive throughout all growth stages of swine without safety concerns.

A 53-year-old female visited our hospital because of cervical and abdominal pain preceding fever and upper respiratory symptoms. Severe tenderness was noted over the bilateral sternocleidomastoid muscles, the superior portion of the trapezius muscle, and the umbilical region of the abdomen. The patient reported exacerbation of posterior neck pain in the supine position and during the transition from sitting to the supine position. The diagnosis of epidemic myalgia was finally made. This case highlights the presence of the cervical variant of epidemic myalgia.

La succinilcolina es el bloqueador neuromuscular de referencia para la inducción de secuencia rápida. Sin embargo, su uso se asocia a fasciculaciones y mialgias. Se realizó una revisión sistemática y un metaanálisis. Se incluyeron ensayos clínicos controlados aleatorizados comparando gabapentinoides frente a placebo, para la prevención de fasciculaciones y mialgias inducidas por succinilcolina. Se incluyeron seis estudios clínicos aleatorizados. El número total de pacientes fue de 481, de los cuales 241 se incluyeron en el grupo de intervención y 240 en el grupo de placebo. Los gabapentinoides redujeron la incidencia de mialgia inducida por succinilcolina (RR=0,69; IC95%: 0,56-0,84; p<0,001), que siguió siendo estadísticamente significativa para pregabalina (RR=0,71; IC95%: 0,54-0,93; p=0,013) y gabapentina (RR=0,61; IC95%: 0,45-0,82; p=0,001) por separado. No hubo diferencia entre los grupos en cuanto a fasciculaciones (RR=0,92; IC95%: 0,82-1,03; p=0,148). El uso preoperatorio de gabapentinoides se asocia a una menor incidencia de mialgias inducidas por succinilcolina dentro de las primeras 24horas posteriores al procedimiento. (AU)


Succinylcholine is the gold standard neuromuscular blocker for rapid sequence induction, however, its use is associated with fasciculations and myalgias. A systematic review and meta-analysis including randomized controlled clinical trials was performed comparing gabapentinoids versus placebo for the prevention of fasciculations and succinylcholine-induced myalgias. Six randomized clinical studies were included. The total number of patients was 481, of which 241 were in the intervention group and 240 in the placebo group. Gabapentinoids reduced the incidence of succinylcholine-induced myalgia (RR=.69; 95%CI: .56-.84; P<.001), which remained statistically significant for pregabalin (RR=.71; 95%CI: .54-.93; P=.013) and gabapentin (RR=.61; 95%CI: .45-.82; P=.001) separately. There was no difference between the groups in fasciculations (RR=.92; 95%CI: .82-1.03; P=.148). Preoperative use of gabapentinoids is associated with lower incidence of succinylcholine-induced myalgias within the first 24hours after the procedure. (AU)

Key clinical message: In a rare occurrence, primary varicella infection led to rhabdomyolysis in a 24-year-old with no medical history. Presenting with rash, fever, and weakness, he developed diffuse myalgia at 72 h. Elevated muscle enzymes confirmed rhabdomyolysis secondary to varicella zoster virus (VZV) infection. Treatment with acyclovir and hydration resulted in significant improvement within a month. Abstract: Primary varicella infection is rarely complicated by rhabdomyolysis. In this study, we describe a case of rhabdomyolysis complicating a VZV infection in a black subject. The patient was a 24-year-old black African with no particular medical history and was immunocompetent. He presented with an acute onset of generalized rash, fever, and generalized weakness. Physical examination revealed vesicular lesions typical of chickenpox. Antipyretic treatment combined with acyclovir was instituted in hospital. At the 72nd hour, diffuse myalgia developed. Muscle enzyme tests revealed CPK elevated to 40 times the upper limit of normal, LDH elevated to 2 times the upper limit of normal, ASAT and ALAT elevated to 7 times the upper limit of normal, and 2.5 times the upper limit of normal, respectively. We accepted the diagnosis of rhabdomyolysis secondary to VZV infection. The patient was given saline hydration and showed clinical and biological improvement 1 month later. A patient presenting with muscular symptoms during a VZV infection should be considered for rhabdomyolysis.

Purpose: Despite the availability of a wide variety of analgesics, many patients with chronic pain often experience suboptimal pain relief in part related to the absence of any medication to address the nociplastic component of common pain syndromes. Low-dose naltrexone has been used for the treatment of chronic pain, typically at 4.5 mg per day, even though it is also noted that effective doses of naltrexone for chronic pain presentations range from 0.1 to 4.5 mg per day. We performed an observational analysis to determine the range of effective naltrexone daily dosing in 41 patients with chronic musculoskeletal pain. Methods: Charts of 385 patients, 115 males, 270 females, ages 18-92, were reviewed. Two hundred and sixty patients with chronic diffuse, symmetrical pain were prescribed a titrating dose of naltrexone to determine a maximally effective dose established by self-report of 1) reduction of diffuse/generalized and/or severity level of pain and/or 2) positive effects on mood, energy, and mental clarity. Brief Pain Inventory and PROMIS scales were given pre- and post-determining a maximally effective naltrexone dose. Results: Forty-one patients met all criteria for inclusion, successfully attained a maximally effective dose, and completed a pre- and post-outcome questionnaire. Hormesis was demonstrated during the determination of the maximally effective dosing, which varied over a wide range, with statistically significant improvement in BPI. Conclusion: The maximally effective dose of low-dose naltrexone for the treatment of chronic pain is idiosyncratic, suggesting the need for 1) dosage titration to establish a maximally effective dose and 2) the possibility of re-introduction of low-dose naltrexone to patients who had failed initial trials on a fixed dose of naltrexone.


Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) has been used to treat chronic pain. There is, however, no agreed on effective dose, leaving clinicians without guidelines on initiating treatment with naltrexone. It appears that the dose of LDN for any patient is idiosyncratic, and in a small study, ranges from 0.1 to 6.0 mg/day. Understanding the various possible mechanisms of action of LDN may help the clinician to understand how and why it can effectively reduce chronic pain. A titration schedule to establish the maximally effective dose for chronic myofascial pain is presented.

OBJECTIVES: To compare the effects of passive recovery (PR), active recovery (AR), and recovery through self-massage with the aid of foam rolling (FRR) on pain and physical capacity in healthy volunteers after a resistance exercise (RE) session. METHODS: The sample of this randomized crossover trial comprised 37 physically healthy men who underwent three sessions of RE (squat, leg press, and leg extension), involving four sets of 10 repetitions with 80% of 10MR, with an interval of seven days between sessions. PR consisted of sitting for 20min, AR included a cycle ergometer for 20min at 50% maximum heart rate, and FRR involved 10 repetitions per target body area, followed by 1min rest. Variables of physical capacity (strength, power, agility, joint range of motion, flexibility, speed, and fatigue resistance) were assessed 1h after RE, whereas pain was assessed 24h, 48h, and 72h after RE. RESULTS: In the dominant lower limb, the percentage of strength decreased (p < 0.001) by 16.3% after RE but improved (p < 0.001) by 5.2% after AR and FRR in relation to PR. Similar results were observed in the non-dominant lower limb. Agility was enhanced (p < 0.001) by 3.6% in AR and 4.3% in FRR compared with the baseline assessment. The recoveries for the other physical variables were similar. Only FRR reduced (p < 0.001) pain at 24h (22.8%), 48h (39.2%), and 72h (59.7%) compared to PR. CONCLUSIONS: Self-massage using a foam roll reduced pain and improved agility and muscle strength during recovery after exercise. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: NCT04201977.

INTRODUCTION: Nociplastic pain involves reflexive and nonreflexive pain responses and it is a core symptom of fibromyalgia (FM). The increasing prevalence of this health condition and the low rates of patients' quality of life, combined with the lack of suitable pharmacologic treatments, evidence the demand to research new alternatives. Polyphenols may be potential therapeutic candidates as they have been reported to exert pathological pain modulation in preclinical models. In that context, this work was aimed to study the antinociceptive effects of a polyphenolic extract obtained from decaffeinated ground roasted coffee, in the RIM6 FM-like mouse model. METHODS: To this end, RIM6 adult ICR-CD1 female mice were administered daily once a week with either 10 or 15 mg/kg of extract, and reflexive pain responses were evaluated for up to 3 weeks. At the end, the depressive-like behavior was assessed as a nonreflexive pain response, and spinal cord and serum samples were collected for immunohistochemical and toxicological analyses. RESULTS: These findings showed that the repeated administration of the coffee polyphenolic extract (CE) modulated reflexive pain responses, depressive-like behavior, and spinal cord gliosis in a dose-dependent manner, without signs of systemic toxicity. CONCLUSION: Thus, the CE may be a potential pharmacological treatment suitable to relieve nociplastic pain responses characteristic of FM.
