BACKGROUND: Feline mammary carcinoma (FMC) is a common aggressive and highly metastatic cancer affecting female cats. Early detection is essential for preventing local and distant metastasis, thereby improving overall survival rates. While acquiring molecular data before surgery offers significant potential benefits, the current protein biomarkers for monitoring disease progression in non-metastatic FMC (NmFMC) and metastatic FMC (mFMC) are limited. The objective of this study was to investigate the serum peptidome profiles of NmFMC and mFMC using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry. A cross-sectional study was conducted to compare serum peptidome profiles in 13 NmFMC, 23 mFMC and 18 healthy cats. The liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry analysis was performed on non-trypsinized samples. RESULTS: Out of a total of 8284 expressed proteins observed, several proteins were found to be associated with human breast cancer. In NmFMC, distinctive protein expressions encompassed double-stranded RNA-binding protein Staufen homolog 2 (STAU2), associated with cell proliferation, along with bromodomain adjacent to zinc finger domain 2A (BAZ2A) and gamma-aminobutyric acid type A receptor subunit epsilon (GABRE), identified as potential treatment targets. Paradoxically, positive prognostic markers emerged, such as complement C1q like 3 (C1QL3) and erythrocyte membrane protein band 4.1 (EPB41 or 4.1R). Within the mFMC group, overexpressed proteins associated with poor prognosis were exhibited, including B-cell lymphoma 6 transcription repressor (BCL6), thioredoxin reductase 3 (TXNRD3) and ceruloplasmin (CP). Meanwhile, the presence of POU class 5 homeobox (POU5F1 or OCT4) and laminin subunit alpha 1 (LAMA1), reported as metastatic biomarkers, was noted. CONCLUSION: The presence of both pro- and anti-proliferative proteins was observed, potentially indicating a distinctive characteristic of NmFMC. Conversely, proteins associated with poor prognosis and metastasis were noted in the mFMC group.

This study aims to investigate the effects of ultrasound coupled with alkali cycling on the structural properties, digestion characteristics, biological activity, and peptide profiling of flaxseed protein isolates (FPI). The digestibility of FPI obtained by ultrasound coupled with pH 10/12 cycling (UFPI-10/12) (74.56 % and 79.12 %) was significantly higher than that of native FPI (64.40 %), and UFPI-10 showed higher hydrolysis degree (35.76 %) than FPI (30.65 %) after intestinal digestion. The combined treatment induced transition from α-helix to ß-sheet with an orderly structure. Large FPI aggregates broke down into small-sized FPI particles, which induced the increase of specific surface area of particles. This might expose more cutting sites and contact area with enzymes. Furthermore, UFPI-10 showed high antioxidant activity (29.18 %) and lipid-lowering activity (70.52 %). Peptide profiling revealed that UFPI-10 exhibited a higher proportion of 300-600 Da peptides and significantly higher abundance of antioxidant peptides than native FPI, which might promote its antioxidant activity. Those results suggest that the combined treatment is a promising modification method to improve the digestion characteristics and biological activity of FPI. This work provides new ideas for widespread use of FPI as an active stabilizer in food systems.

In recent decades, the food system has been faced with the significant problem of increasing food waste. Therefore, the feed industry, supported by scientific research, is attempting to valorise the use of discarded biomass as co-products for the livestock sector, in line with EU objectives. In parallel, the search for functional products that can ensure animal health and performances is a common fundamental goal for both animal husbandry and feeding. In this context, camelina cake (CAMC), cardoon cake (CC) and cardoon meal (CM), due valuable nutritional profile, represent prospective alternatives. Therefore, the aim of this work was to investigate the antioxidant activity of CAMC, CC and CM following in vitro digestion using 2,2'-azinobis-(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid) (ABTS), Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) and oxygen radical absorbance capacity (ORAC) assays. Total phenolic content (TPC) and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitory activity, actively involved in modulating antioxidant properties, were also studied. Further, a peptidomic analysis was adopted to substantiate the presence of bioactive peptides after in vitro digestion. The results obtained confirmed an interesting nutritional profile of CAMC, CC and CM and relevant antioxidant and ACE inhibitory activities. In particular, considering antioxidant profile, CM and CC revealed a significantly higher (10969.80 ± 18.93 mg TE/100 g and 10451.40 ± 149.17 mg TE/100 g, respectively; p < 0.05) ABTS value than CAMC (9511.18 ± 315.29 mg TE/100 g); a trend also confirmed with the FRAP assay (306.74 ± 5.68 mg FeSO4/100 g; 272.84 ± 11.02 mg FeSO4/100 g; 103.84 ± 3.27 mg FeSO4/100 g, for CC, CM and CAMC, respectively). Similar results were obtained for TPC, demonstrating the involvement of phenols in modulating antioxidant activity. Finally, CAMC was found to have a higher ACE inhibitory activity (40.34 ± 10.11%) than the other matrices. Furthermore, potentially bioactive peptides associated with ACE inhibitory, anti-hypertensive, anti-cancer, antimicrobial, antiviral, antithrombotic, DPP-IV inhibitory and PEP-inhibitory activities were identified in CAMC. This profile was broader than that of CC and CM. The presence of such peptides corroborates the antioxidant and ACE profile of the sample. Although the data obtained report the important antioxidant profile of CAMC, CC, and CM and support their possible use, future investigations, particularly in vivo trials will be critical to evaluate and further investigate their effects on the health and performance of farm animals.

Wheat species with various ploidy levels may be different regarding their immunoreactive potential in celiac disease (CD), but a comprehensive comparison of peptide sequences with known epitopes is missing. Thus, we used an untargeted liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry method to analyze the content of peptides with CD-active epitope in the five wheat species common wheat, spelt, durum wheat, emmer, and einkorn. In total, 494 peptides with CD-active epitope were identified. Considering the average of the eight cultivars of each species, spelt contained the highest number of different peptides with CD-active epitope (193 ± 12, mean ± SD). Einkorn showed the smallest variability of peptides (63 ± 4) but higher amounts of certain peptides compared to the other species. The wheat species differ in the presence and distribution of CD-active epitopes; hence, the entirety of peptides with CD-active epitope is crucial for the assessment of their immunoreactive potential.

Age gelation is undesirable for direct UHT (dUHT) milk, which is closely related to protein hydrolysis. However, little information is available for the role of serum peptides during the age gelation. In this study, the composition and protein morphology of serum phase were characterized by RP-HPLC, ICP-MS and TEM. The results showed significant increases in soluble proteins, free amino acids, calcium, and phosphorus from casein micelles, indicating protein hydrolysis and peptide release into the serum phase. 23,466 peptides derived from caseins and other proteins were identified in serum phase by peptidomics. The serum peptide profiles of age gelation milk changed dramatically. Peptide fingerprinting revealed that plasmin and cathepsin contributed to the protein hydrolysis during age gelation, with a significant increase in their activity observed. 23 characteristic peptides were ultimately selected as potential indicators for age gelation. These findings provide new insights into the age gelation of UHT milk.

This study investigated the production of antioxidant peptides from Porphyra yezoensis through fermentation with three strains of microorganisms: Lactiplantibacillus plantarum L13, Bacillus amyloliquefaciens MMB-02, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae A8. The crude peptides were extracted by aqueous acid precipitation and purified by Sephadex G-25 gel column to produce highly active antioxidant components with molecular weight of <4000 Da. The LC-MS/MS result revealed that the fermentation group contained more hydrophobic amino acids and oligopeptides, which were mainly originated from phycobiliproteins and algal blue proteins. Finally, the antioxidant activity of Porphyra yezoensis was determined with DPPH· and ABTS· scavenging rates of 54.87% and 57.39%, respectively. The ferric ion-reducing power (FRAP) and enzyme activities of SOD and CAT were significantly higher than those of the control group. This study provides a scientific foundation for the deep processing of striped seaweed and contributes to the theoretical understanding of synthetic antioxidant substitutes.

Background: Equus asinus L. [Equidae; Asini Corri Colla] (donkey-hide gelatin, E-Jiao) is a traditional Chinese medicine renowned for its exceptional blood-supplementing effect. However, the specific components that contribute to its efficacy remain elusive. This study aimed to demonstrate that peptides are responsible for E-Jiao's blood-supplementing effect and to explore the specific peptides contributing to its efficacy. Methods: The low molecular weight peptides of E-Jiao (LMEJ) were obtained using an in vitro digestion method. LMEJ and peptides in the rat bloodstream were characterized by peptidomics analysis. The blood-supplementing effect of LMEJ was assessed using blood-deficient zebrafish and mouse models. The effect of the peptides detected in rat blood was evaluated using the same zebrafish model, and network pharmacology analysis was performed to investigate the underlying mechanisms. Results: A total of 660 unique peptides were identified within LMEJ. Both E-Jiao and LMEJ significantly alleviated myelosuppression in mice but only LMEJ attenuated myelosuppression in zebrafish. After the administration of E-Jiao to rats, 67 E-Jiao-derived peptides were detected in the bloodstream, 41 of which were identical to those identified in LMEJ. Out of these 41 peptides, five were synthesized. Subsequent verification of their effects revealed that two of them were able to alleviate myelosuppression in zebrafish. Network pharmacology study suggested that E-Jiao may exert a blood-supplementing effect by regulating signaling pathways such as JAK-STAT, IL-17 and others. These results indicated that peptides are at least partially responsible for E-Jiao's efficacy. Conclusion: This study provides a crucial foundation for further exploration of the bioactive components of E-Jiao.

MHC-II molecules are key mediators of antigen presentation in vertebrate species and bind to their ligands with high specificity. The very high polymorphism of MHC-II genes within species and the fast-evolving nature of these genes across species has resulted in tens of thousands of different alleles, with hundreds of new alleles being discovered yearly through large sequencing projects in different species. Here we describe how to use MixMHC2pred to predict the binding specificity of any MHC-II allele directly from its amino acid sequence. We then show how both MHC-II ligands and CD4+ T cell epitopes can be predicted in different species with our approach. MixMHC2pred is available at http://mixmhc2pred.gfellerlab.org/ .

Although the concept that the blood-brain barrier (BBB) plays an important role in the etiology and pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD) has become increasingly accepted, little is known yet about how it actually contributes. We and others have recently identified a novel functionally distinct subset of BBB pericytes (PCs). In the present study, we sought to determine whether these PC subsets differentially contribute to AD-associated pathologies by immunohistochemistry and amyloid beta (Aß) peptidomics. We demonstrated that a disease-associated PC subset (PC2) expanded in AD patients compared to age-matched, cognitively unimpaired controls. Surprisingly, we found that this increase in the percentage of PC2 (%PC2) was correlated negatively with BBB breakdown in AD patients, unlike in natural aging or other reported disease conditions. The higher %PC2 in AD patients was also correlated with a lower Aß42 plaque load and a lower Aß42:Aß40 ratio in the brain as determined by immunohistochemistry. Colocalization analysis of multicolor confocal immunofluorescence microscopy images suggests that AD patient with low %PC2 have higher BBB breakdown due to internalization of Aß42 by the physiologically normal PC subset (PC1) and their concomitant cell death leading to more vessels without PCs and increased plaque load. On the contrary, it appears that PC2 can secrete cathepsin D to cleave and degrade Aß built up outside of PC2 into more soluble forms, ultimately contributing to less BBB breakdown and reducing Aß plaque load. Collectively our data shows functionally distinct mechanisms for PC1 and PC2 in high Aß conditions, demonstrating the importance of correctly identifying these populations when investigating the contribution of neurovascular dysfunction to AD pathogenesis.

In this study, edible bird's nest (EBN) was proven to be a suitable source of bioactive peptides via enzymatic hydrolysis. The ultrafiltration component of the EBN peptides (EBNPs, Mw < 3 000 Da) could be responsible for moderate moisture retention and filaggrin synthesis. It was found that EBNP had a great capacity to protect HaCaT keratinocytes from DNA damage caused by UVB-irradiation and enhance wound healing by increasing the migratory and proliferative potential of cells. Furthermore, the external application of EBNP could effectively repair high glycolic acid concentration-induced skin burns in mice. A total of 1 188 peptides, predominantly the hydrophobic amino acids (e.g., Leu, Val, Tyr, Phe), were identified in the EBNP by liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Molecular docking showed that hydrophobic tripeptides from EBNP had a good binding affinity to proton-dependent oligopeptide transporter PepT1. Our data indicated that the hydrophobic amino acid-rich EBNP plays an important role in skin wound healing.

During infant formula production, proteins are always heated, potentially affecting their digestibility and the bioactivities of resulting peptides. Although plant proteins are a promising dairy alternative for infant formula, they remain understudied, necessitating further investigations. Therefore, this research aimed to fill this gap by assessing the impact of different heating modes on soy protein (SP) and pea protein (PP), focusing on glycation levels, peptide formation during in vitro infant digestion, and immune protection potential (sRAGE-binding and antimicrobial activities) of the resulting peptides. Consequently, dry heating led to increased glycation and glycated peptide production, particularly with higher glycation in PP than SP. Moreover, PP exhibited an overall stronger sRAGE-binding capacity than SP, regardless of heating and digestion conditions. Regarding antimicrobial activity, both SP and PP-derived peptides displayed reduced effectiveness against Enterobacter cloacae after dry heating. Additionally, Staphylococcus epidermidis was differently inhibited, where PP-derived peptides showed inherent inhibition. The primary determinant of sRAGE-binding and antimicrobial potential in digestion-derived peptides was the protein source. Subsequent bioinformatics analysis predicted 519 and 133 potential antimicrobial peptides in SP and PP, respectively. This study emphasises the importance of protein source for infant formula to ensure infant health.

This study investigated the synthesis of bioactive peptides from sheep milk through fermentation with Limosilactobacillus fermentum KGL4 MTCC 25515 strain and assessed lipase inhibition, ACE inhibition, α-glucosidase inhibition, and α-amylase inhibition activities during the fermentation process. The study observed the highest activities, reaching 74.82%, 70.02%, 72.19%, and 67.08% (lipase inhibition, ACE inhibition, α-glucosidase inhibition, and α-amylase inhibition) after 48 h at 37°C, respectively. Growth optimization experiments revealed that a 2.5% inoculation rate after 48 h of fermentation time resulted in the highest proteolytic activity at 9.88 mg/mL. Additionally, fractions with less than 3 kDa of molecular weight exhibited superior ACE-inhibition and anti-diabetic activities compared to other fractions. Fermentation of sheep milk with KGL4 led to a significant reduction in the excessive production of NO, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1ß produced in RAW 267.4 cells upon treatment with LPS. Peptides were purified utilizing SDS-PAGE and electrophoresis on 2D gels, identifying a maximum number of proteins bands ranging 10-70 kDa. Peptide sequences were cross-referenced with AHTPDB and BIOPEP databases, confirming potential antihypertensive and antidiabetic properties. Notably, the peptide (GPFPILV) exhibited the highest HPEPDOCK score against both α-amylase and ACE.

During production of soy-based infant formula, soy protein undergoes heating processes. This study investigated the differential impact of heating modes on the immunogenic potential of peptides in soy protein digests. Wet or dry heating was applied, followed by in vitro gastrointestinal infant digestion. The released peptides were analyzed by LC-MS/MS. Bioinformatics tools were utilized to predict and identify potential linear B-cell and T-cell epitopes, as well as to explore cross-reactivity with other legumes. Subsequently, the peptide intensities of the same potential epitope across different experimental conditions were compared. As a result, we confirmed the previously observed enhancing effect of wet heating on infant digestion and inhibitory effect of dry heating. A total of 8,546 peptides were detected in the digests, and 6,684 peptides were with a score over 80. Among them, 29 potential T-cell epitopes and 27 potential B-cell epitopes were predicted. Cross-reactivity between soy and other legumes, including peanut, pea, chickpea, lentil, kidney bean, and lupine, was also detected. Overall, heating and digestion time could modulate the potential to trigger peptide-induced immune responses.

Background: Before implementing individualized strategies to treat acute kidney injury (AKI), identifying clusters of patients with divergent pathophysiological mechanisms, diagnosis criteria or outcomes is of the utmost importance. Here we studied sex-related molecular mechanisms in cardiac bypass (CBP) surgery patients developing AKI. Methods: We compared the characteristics of 1170 patients referred for CBP surgery using multivariate logistic regression and propensity score-based analysis. Performances of the candidate urinary biomarkers at <4 h post-surgery, urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (uNGAL), [IGFBP7]·[TIMP-2] product (NephroCheck) and a recently developed AKI signature of 204 urinary peptides (AKI204) to predict AKI were compared in both sexes. Results: Incidence (∼25%) and severity of AKI were similar in men and women, even after adjustment for the usual risk factors of AKI, including baseline estimated glomerular filtration rate, age, diabetes mellitus, length of CBP and red blood cell transfusion. However, at the molecular level, performances of uNGAL, NephroCheck and AKI204 to predict AKI strongly diverged between men and women. In the full cohort, as well as in subgroups of men and women, the multimarker AKI204 signature outperformed uNGAL and NephroCheck and predicted the development of AKI significantly better in women than in men. Analysis of AKI204 at the single-peptide level suggested divergences of AKI mechanisms between sexes due to increased kidney inflammation in women (increased abundance of urinary fragments of osteopontin and uromodulin). Conclusions: In patients referred for CBP surgery, significant clinical and biological differences between men and women as well as sexual dimorphism of AKI biomarker performances were identified. The urinary peptide signature points to sex-related molecular mechanisms underlying AKI.

The application of traditional Chinese medicine dispensing granules is becoming increasingly prevalent. However, the consistency of dispensing granules with traditional decoction remains controversial. In this study, the consistency of peptide composition and pharmacodynamics between dispensing granules and traditional decoction of Bombyx batryticatus (BB) were assessed. A peptidomics method based on LC-tandem mass spectrometry technology was used to evaluate peptide composition similarity between BB traditional decoction and dispensing granules. The results revealed notable differences in peptide sequences between the two dosage forms, with only 8.55% of peptides shared between them. To evaluate the potential pharmacodynamic effects of the two dosage forms on epilepsy, virtual screening was used to identify potential active peptides, including blood-brain barrier permeability, toxicity prediction, and molecular docking. BB traditional decoction demonstrated a higher number and greater abundance of potential active peptides than BB dispensing granules, suggesting that BB traditional decoction may have a more favorable effect in treating epilepsy compared with BB dispensing granules. Moreover, molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation studies confirmed the mechanism of action of active peptides to γ-aminobutyric acid transporter 1 (GAT-1). This study provides a scientific basis for the evaluation of quality consistency between BB traditional decoction and dispensing granules.

Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is closely linked to nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), notably prevalent in southern China. Although type II latency of EBV plays a crucial role in the development of NPC, some lytic genes and intermittent reactivation are also critical for viral propagation and tumor progression. Since T cell-mediated immunity is effective in targeted killing of EBV-positive cells, it is important to identify EBV-derived peptides presented by highly prevalent human leukocyte antigen class I (HLA-I) molecules throughout the EBV life cycle. Here, we constructed an EBV-positive NPC cell model to evaluate the presentation of EBV lytic phase peptides on streptavidin-tagged specific HLA-I molecules. Utilizing a mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)-based immunopeptidomic approach, we characterized eleven novel EBV peptides as well as two previously identified peptides. Furthermore, we determined these peptides were immunogenic and could stimulate PBMCs from EBV VCA/NA-IgA positive donors in an NPC endemic southern Chinese population. Overall, this work demonstrates that highly prevalent HLA-I-specific EBV peptides can be captured and functionally presented to elicit immune responses in an in vitro model, which provides insight into the epitopes presented during EBV lytic cycle and reactivation. It expands the range of viral targets for potential NPC early diagnosis and treatment.

Yeast extract is increasingly becoming an attractive source for unraveling novel umami peptides that are healthier and more nutritious than traditional seasonings. In the present study, a strategy for screening novel umami peptides was established using mass spectrometry-based peptidomics combined with molecular interaction modeling, emphasizing on smaller peptides than previously reported. Four representative novel umami peptides of FE, YDQ, FQEY, and SPFSQ from yeast extract (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) were identified and validated by sensory evaluation, with thresholds determined as 0.234 ± 0.045, 0.576 ± 0.175, 0.327 ± 0.057 and 0.456 ± 0.070 mmol/L, respectively. Hydrogen and ionic bonds were the main characteristic interactions between the umami peptides and the well-recognized receptor T1R1/T1R3, in which Asp 110, Thr 112, Arg 114, Arg 240, Lys 342, and Glu 264 were the key sites in ligand-receptor recognition. Our study provides accurate sequences of umami peptides and molecular interaction mechanism for the umami effect.

Introduction: Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) communities shape the sensorial and functional properties of artisanal hard-cooked and long-ripened cheeses made with raw bovine milk like Parmigiano Reggiano (PR) cheese. While patterns of microbial evolution have been well studied in PR cheese, there is a lack of information about how this microbial diversity affects the metabolic and functional properties of PR cheese. Methods: To fill this information gap, we characterized the cultivable fraction of natural whey starter (NWS) and PR cheeses at different ripening times, both at the species and strain level, and investigated the possible correlation between microbial composition and the evolution of peptide profiles over cheese ripening. Results and discussion: The results showed that NWS was a complex community of several biotypes belonging to a few species, namely, Streptococcus thermophilus, Lactobacillus helveticus, and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. lactis. A new species-specific PCR assay was successful in discriminating the cheese-associated species Lacticaseibacillus casei, Lacticaseibacillus paracasei, Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, and Lacticaseibacillus zeae. Based on the resolved patterns of species and biotype distribution, Lcb. paracasei and Lcb. zeae were most frequently isolated after 24 and 30 months of ripening, while the number of biotypes was inversely related to the ripening time. Peptidomics analysis revealed more than 520 peptides in cheese samples. To the best of our knowledge, this is the most comprehensive survey of peptides in PR cheese. Most of them were from ß-caseins, which represent the best substrate for LAB cell-envelope proteases. The abundance of peptides from ß-casein 38-88 region continuously increased during ripening. Remarkably, this region contains precursors for the anti-hypertensive lactotripeptides VPP and IPP, as well as for ß-casomorphins. We found that the ripening time strongly affects bioactive peptide profiles and that the occurrence of Lcb. zeae species is positively linked to the incidence of eight anti-hypertensive peptides. This result highlighted how the presence of specific LAB species is likely a pivotal factor in determining PR functional properties.

Histones and their N-terminal or C-terminal derived peptides have been studied in vertebrates and presented as potential antimicrobial agents playing important roles in the innate immune defenses. Although histones and their derived peptides had been reported as components of innate immunity in invertebrates, the knowledge about the histone derived antimicrobial peptides (HDAPs) in invertebrates are still limited. Using a peptidomic technique, a set of peptide fragments derived from the histones was identified in this study from the serum of microbes challenged Mytilus coruscus. Among the 85 identified histone-derived-peptides with high confidence, 5 HDAPs were chemically synthesized and the antimicrobial activities were verified, showing strong growth inhibition against Gram-positive bacteria, Gram-negative bacteria, and fungus. The gene expression level of the precursor histones matched by representative HDAPs were further tested using q-PCR, and the results showed a significant upregulation of the histone gene expression levels in hemocytes, gill, and mantle of the mussel after immune stress. In addition, three identified HDAPs were selected for preparation of specific antibodies, and the corresponding histones and their derived C-terminal fragments were detected by Western blotting in the blood cell and serum of immune challenged mussel, respectively, indicating the existence of HDAPs in M. coruscus. Our findings revealed the immune function of histones in Mytilus, and confirmed the existence of HDAPs in the mussel. The identified Mytilus HDAPs represent a new source of immune effector with antimicrobial function in the innate immune system, and thus provide promising candidates for the treatment of microbial infections in aquaculture and medicine.

SCOPE: In cases where breast milk is unavailable or inadequate, hydrolyzed infant formula is recommended as the primary alternative. The aim of this study is to assess and compare the allergenicity of two partially hydrolyzed whey-based formulas (PHF-Ws) using serum samples from patients with cow's milk allergy (CMA). METHODS AND RESULTS: LC-MS/MS technology is used to investigate the peptide distribution in both samples. The immunoreactivity of two PHF-Ws in 27 serum samples from 50 Chinese infants (02 years) with CMA is analyzed. The results demonstrate that even with a similar a degree of hydrolysis (DH), primary protein sources, peptides with molecular weights <5 kDa, and differences in the number of residual allergenic epitopes in the hydrolyzed peptide segments can lead to varying immune responses. CONCLUSION: The two PHF-Ws have notably high intolerance rates, exceeding 10% among infants with CMA. Therefore, suggesting that PHF-Ws may not be suitable for infants and children with CMA in China.
