RESUMO

The jet generated through PTFE based inert material liner has the characteristics of low energy, low density, and large aspect ratio, which can effectively achieve the "penetration without explosion" of explosive reactive armor. PTFE/Cu composite material liner with various densities is prepared, to research the roles of preparation procedure and density in the destroy effect of jet on reactive armor. Through numerical simulation research, it was found that there was no reaction at all in the explosive layer penetrated by the jet generated by the sinter liner molded, while the explosive layer penetrated by the jet generated through the hot-pressing sintering and extrusion molding liner experienced local reactions on the jet impact channel, and the overall explosive layer did not undergo any reaction. Through experimental verification, it has been proven that all three types of jets have achieved "penetration without explosion" on explosive reactive armor.

RESUMO

To promote the resource utilization of steel slag and improve the production process of steel slag in steelmaking plants, this research studied the characteristics of three different processed steel slags from four steelmaking plants. The physical and mechanical characteristics and volume stability of steel slags were analyzed through density, water absorption, and expansion tests. The main mineral phases, morphological characteristics, and thermal stability of the original steel slag and the steel slag after the expansion test are analyzed with X-ray diffractometer (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and thermogravimetric analysis (TG) tests. The results show that the composition of steel slag produced by different processes is similar. The main active substances of other processed steel slags are dicalcium silicate (C2S), tricalcium silicate (C3S), CaO, and MgO. After the expansion test, the main chemical products of steel slag are CaCO3, MgCO3, and calcium silicate hydrate (C-S-H). Noticeable mineral crystals appeared on the surface of the steel slag after the expansion test, presenting tetrahedral or cigar-like protrusions. The drum slag had the highest density and water stability. The drum slag had the lowest porosity and the densest microstructure surface, compared with steel slags that other methods produce. The thermal stability of steel slag treated by the hot splashing method was relatively higher than that of steel slag treated by the other two methods.

RESUMO

In the process of preparing presonalized concentrated watered pills, the decoction needs to be concentrated by heat and mixed with medicinal slices or powder to prepare a wet mass. However, some of the traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) components are easily decomposed or transformed by heat. In order to optimize the preparation process of presonalized TCM concentrated watered pills and reduce the loss of heat-unstable components in prescriptions, this study uses five compound TCM prescriptions containing heat-unstable components as model prescriptions, namely the Linggui Zhugan Formula, Xiaochengqi Formula, Sanpian Formula, Xiaoer Qixing Formula, and Xiaoyao Formula. Based on the two kinds of preparation process of presonalized concentrated watered pills previously established by our research group, whole extract concentrated watered pills and concentrated watered pills without excipients are prepared, respectively. Characteristic maps are measured and compared with those of the corresponding decoction. The results show that the characteristic maps of the concentrated watered pills without excipients of the five model prescriptions are very close to those of the decoction, and the number of characteristic peaks and peak areas are higher than those of whole extract concentrated watered pills. In addition, the peak area of some peaks is higher than that of the corresponding decoction. Thus, it is recommended to select the preparation process of prescription-based concentrated watered pills without excipients based on the "unification of medicines and excipients" to preserve those heat-unstable components more effectively when the prescription contains a heat-unstable component of TCM. This study provides a basis for the subsequent reasonable development and application of presonalized TCM pills.

RESUMO

Conventional optical microscopes are only able to resolve objects down to a size of approximately 200 nm due to optical diffraction limits. The rapid development of nanotechnology has increased the demand for greater imaging resolution, with a need to break through those diffraction limits. Among super-resolution techniques, microsphere imaging has emerged as a strong contender, offering low cost, simple operation, and high resolution, especially in the fields of nanodevices, biomedicine, and semiconductors. However, this technology is still in its infancy, with an inadequate understanding of the underlying principles and the technology's limited field of view. This paper comprehensively summarizes the status of current research, the advantages and disadvantages of the basic principles and methods of microsphere imaging, the materials and preparation processes, microsphere manipulation methods, and applications. The paper also summarizes future development trends.

RESUMO

This study explored the preparation process of the placebo of Jiawei Ermiao Granules and evaluated the placebo effect, aiming to provide qualified placebo samples for clinical trials of Jiawei Ermiao Granules and a reference for the preparation and quality evaluation of placebos of traditional Chinese medicine granules. On the basis of the comprehensive analysis results of Jiawei Ermiao Granules, the orthogonal experiment was conducted to optimize the flavoring agents and colorants. After manual evaluation, the placebo formula was determined as dextrin 10 g, Codonopsis Radix extract 5.0 g, bitter melon extract 1.6 g, Mume Fructus extract 0.3 g, stevioside 0.1 g, sucrose octaacetate 0.004 g, indigo 0.004 g, lemon yellow 0.003 1 g, sunset yellow 0.001 8 g, bitter tea powder 0.001 8 g, caramel 0.001 3 g. Pilot trials were conducted on the placebo formula. The simulation effect of placebo was evaluated independently and comparatively, and the objectively evaluated by electronic nose and electronic tongue. The results showed that the independent manual evaluation of the placebo formula had higher error rate, and the placebo and Jiawei Ermiao Granules showed the similarity of 99.61% in the comparative manual evaluation. The smell similarity between the placebo and Jiawei Ermiao Granules was 99.19%, and the electronic tongue test showed little difference in the taste. In conclusion, the placebo prepared in this study shows a high similarity to Jiawei Ermiao Granules, which is not easy to break the blindness when being applied to clinical trials. This study provides a reference for the preparation and quality evaluation and promotes the large-scale production of placebos of traditional Chinese medicine granules, playing a role in improving the persuasiveness and acceptance of the efficacy of traditional Chinese medicines.

RESUMO

As the only Food and Drug Administration (FDA)-approved dual-encapsulation liposome injection for treating Acute myeloid leukemia (AML), CPX-351 outperforms the standard chemotherapy treatment "DA 7 + 3″ in terms of clinical effectiveness. Although research on dual-loaded liposomes has increased in recent years, little attention has been paid to their preparation, which can affect their quality, efficacy, and safety. This study explored various preparation processes to create the cytarabine/daunorubicin co-loaded liposome (the Cyt/Daun liposome) and eventually settled on two methods: the sequential loading approach, thin film hydration-extrusion-copper ion gradient, and the simultaneous encapsulation technique, copper ion gradient-concentration gradient. Different preparation methods resulted in different particle sizes and encapsulation efficiencies; the two aforementioned preparation processes generated dual-loaded liposomes with comparable physicochemical properties. The sequential encapsulation technique was selected for the subsequent research owing to its higher encapsulation efficiency prior to purification; the prepared Cyt/Daun liposomes had small and uniform particle size (108.6 ± 1.02 nm, Polydispersity index (PDI) 0.139 ± 0.01), negative charge (-(60.2 ± 1.15) mV), high drug encapsulation efficiency (Cyt 88.2 ± 0.24 %, Duan 94.2 ± 0.45 %) and good plasma stability. To improve its storage stability, the Cyt/Daun liposome was lyophilized (-40 °C for 4 h, maintained for 130 min, and dried for 1200 min) using sucrose-raffinose (mass ratio 7:3; glycolipid ratio 4:1, w/w) as a lyoprotectant. The lyophilized liposomes were purple cakes, redissolved rapidly with insignificant alterations in particle size and encapsulation efficiency, and possessed well storage stability. The pharmacokinetic and tissue distribution studies demonstrated that the Cyt/Daun liposome could achieve long circulation and maintain synergic proportions of drugs within 24 h, increasing the accumulation of drugs at tumor sites. Furthermore, the in vitro/in vivo pharmacodynamic studies confirmed its good anti-tumor activity and safety.

RESUMO

The jet formed by the traditional metal liner has a slender shape. The diameter of the jet head is consistent with that of the tail, and the ductility is good. When it is used to penetrate the target, it has a good damage effect. The low-density jet formed by the PTFE/Cu liner, according to the different preparation processes and densities, has different degrees of radial expansion. This phenomenon may lead to the expansion of the jet head during the penetration process, resulting in a damage effect, which is different from the previous jet on the target. In this paper, the numerical simulation of PTFE/Cu liners with different preparation processes penetrating steel targets is carried out, and the effects of different preparation processes and liner density on the penetration characteristics of jets penetrating steel targets are compared and analyzed. The PTFE/Cu shaped charge liner was processed according to different preparation processes, and the jet penetration steel target experiment was carried out, so as to verify and analyze the numerical simulation results.

RESUMO

The development of dissolving microneedles (DMNs) has brought light to the transdermal delivery of biomolecules that are released into the skin through the rapid dissolution of the matrix material to enter the systemic circulation and exert therapeutic effects. Herein, we aimed to prepare, characterize, and analyze the effectiveness of a glucagon-loaded DMN system that rapidly increases blood sugar levels in rats with diabetic hypoglycemia. The stability and content of biological drugs following DMNs preparation was assessed using circular dichroism and bicinchoninic acid kit for protein determination kits(BCA kits). The maximum drug loading capacity of DMNs was approximately 140 µg in each patch, and the microneedles could be stored for up to 14 days under dry storage conditions. In vitro skin permeation studies were conducted using a Franz diffusion cell apparatus for glucagon-loaded DMNs. To investigate the efficacy of transdermal drug delivery, drug-laden DMNs were administered to rats with hypoglycemic diabetes. Compared to subcutaneous injections, microneedle drug release demonstrated comparable efficacy in raising blood glucose levels in vivo. Therefore, this study demonstrated that glucagon-loaded DMNs may be a promising approach for efficient transdermal drug delivery as an alternative to subcutaneous injection for the treatment of severe hypoglycemia in patients with diabetes.

RESUMO

This study describes a new method for the preparation of composite materials using polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films and polyurethane (PU) foam elastomers. This new preparation method was applied to composite materials used for sound and thermal insulation in the automotive and aerospace industries, and it was found to be effective in reducing debonding and fracture defects. This feature was achieved via the formation of through-holes in the surface material and the substrate prior to lamination, which led to the increase in the flow of air and adhesive and allowed for better compatibility between the material layers. The composite material shows a tensile strength of up to 37.6 Kg⋅cm-2 and can achieve a tensile fracture strength of up to 281.3 N, if woven or biomaterials are used. This can be useful in solving challenges in the aerospace and automotive industries and may also act as a potential coating material for other applications in the future.

RESUMO

The present study aimed to optimize the process for extracting cellulose nanocrystals (CNCs) from sugarcane bagasse through ultrasonic-assisted sulfuric acid hydrolysis and its subsequent modification with L-malic acid and silane coupling agent KH-550. The effects of the different modification methods and the order of modification on the structures and properties of bagasse CNCs were explored. The results indicated that the optimal process conditions were achieved at an acid-digestion temperature of 50 °C, a reaction time of 70 min, an ultrasonic power of 250 W, and a volume fraction of 55%. The modified CNCs were analyzed using infrared spectral, X-ray diffraction, and thermogravimetric techniques, which revealed that L-malic acid was attached to the hydroxyl group on the CNCs via ester bond formations, and the silane coupling agent KH-550 was adsorbed effectively on the CNCs' surfaces. Moreover, it was observed that the modification of the CNCs by L-malic acid and the KH-550 silane coupling agent occurred only on the surface, and the esterification-crosslinking modification method provided the best thermal stability. The performance of self-made CNC was found to be superior to that of purchased CNC based on the transmission electron microscopy analysis. Furthermore, the modified esterified-crosslinked CNCs exhibited the best structure and performance, thereby offering a potential avenue for the high-value utilization of sugarcane bagasse, a byproduct of sugarcane sugar production, and the expansion of the comprehensive utilization of sugarcane bagasse.

RESUMO

Beta-glucan (BG), a polysaccharide comprised of interfacing glucose monomers joined via beta-glycosidic linkages, can be defined as a type of dietary fiber with high specificity based on its interaction with the gut microbiota. It can induce similar interindividual microbiota responses, thereby having beneficial effects on the human body. In this paper, we review the four main sources of BG (cereals, fungi, algae, and bacteria) and their differences in structure and content. The interaction of BG with gut microbiota and the resulting health effects have been highlighted, including immune enhancement, regulation of serum cholesterol and insulin levels, alleviation of obesity and improvement of cognitive disorders. Finally, the application of BG in food products and its beneficial effects on the gut microbiota of consumers were discussed. Although some of the mechanisms of action remain unclear, revealing the beneficial functions of BG from the perspective of gut microbiota can help provide theoretical support for the development of diets that target the regulation of microbiota.

RESUMO

Waste tires can be ground as crumb rubber (CR) and incorporated into asphalt pavement for efficient resource utilization. However, due to its thermodynamic incompatibility with asphalt, CR cannot be uniformly dispersed in the asphalt mix. In order to address this issue, pretreating the CR with desulfurization is a common way to restore some of the properties of natural rubber. The main technique of desulfurization and degradation is dynamic desulfurization, requiring a high temperature that may lead to asphalt fires, aging, and the volatilization of light substances, generating toxic gases and resulting in environmental pollution. Therefore, a green and low-temperature controlled desulfurization technology is proposed in this study to exploit the maximum potential of CR desulfurization and obtain high-solubility "liquid waste rubber" (LWR) close to the ultimate regeneration level. In this work, LWR-modified asphalt (LRMA) with superior low-temperature performance and processability, stable storage, and less susceptibility to segregation was developed. Nevertheless, its rutting and deformation resistance deteriorated at high temperatures. The results showed that the proposed CR-desulfurization technology could produce LWR with 76.9% solubility at a low temperature of 160 °C, which is close to or even better than the finished products produced at the preparation temperature of TB technology, i.e., 220-280 °C.

RESUMO

Antibiotic is one of the most important discoveries in human and animal medicine. However, the inefficient use of antibiotics has caused widespread and persistent contamination of ecosystems, setting off microbial resistance storms. Magnolol is a botanical antibiotic, but poor physicochemical properties result in low bioavailability. Increasing solubility of magnolol can help to reduce the doses of medications to patients, minimize bothersome side effects. In this work, three novel multicomponent crystalline solids were synthesized from magnolol and isomeric coformers by mechanochemistry. It was found that the multicomponent crystalline solids achieved the customizable release profile of magnolol by manipulating the substituent positions of the isomers and complexation. Antibacterial activity test showed that bioactivity on two bacteria was considerably improved by designed MGN multicomponent crystals. In addition, the coformers controlled the dissolution behavior and further stabilized the improvement according to the variable statistical analysis. In conclusion, the properties of antibiotic multicomponent solids can be manipulated through the coformers. This provides an effective strategy for managing the release of drugs to meet individual biological differences and diverse therapeutic needs.

RESUMO

A standardized preparation process is proposed in this study for achieving optimal strength and vegetative properties in vegetated concrete, using Yunnan red soil as a growth substrate for plants. The porosity of vegetated concrete is a crucial factor influencing plant growth, while compressive strength is a significant mechanical property. To assess the strength and porosity of vegetated concrete, different design porosities (22%, 24%, 26%, 28%) and cement-to-aggregate ratios (4, 5, 6, 7) were utilized in the preparation of vegetated concrete samples. The shell-making and static-pressure-molding methods were optimized for specimen preparation. Analyzing the stress-strain full curve characteristics of vegetation-type concrete under different influencing factors, an in-depth investigation into its failure mechanism was conducted. It was determined that the design porosity and cement content significantly impact the concrete's performance, particularly in terms of 30-day compressive strength and effective porosity. Furthermore, an increase in the fly ash ratio led to an increase in porosity and a decrease in compressive strength, providing a certain guidance for optimizing concrete performance. Comparative analysis through vegetation experiments revealed that black rye grass exhibited favorable growth adaptability compared to other grass species.

RESUMO

@#Most drugs taste bitter and irritating, resulting in poor compliance of patients, and the bad odor affects the therapeutic effect. The successful research and development of a drug should not only conform to the five quality characteristics of effectiveness, stability, safety, uniformity and economy, but also the compliance of patients to drugs with bad odor. The development of taste masking techniques is critical for bitter drugs. This review describes the principles, advantages and drawbacks of traditional taste masking techniques, and introduces the mechanism and application of novel taste masking techniques, such as melt granulation, hot melt extrusion, 3D printing, drug complex preparation, and bitter taste inhibitors. The in vitro evaluation methods of drug taste masking effect, such as functional magnetic resonance imaging, in vitro dissolution, and electronic tongue technology, are described. And introduce in vivo evaluation methods, such as animal and human taste, in the field of taste masking effect. A new strategy of BP neural network prediction model for drug taste evaluation is proposed, with a view to providing theoretical reference for the future research on drug taste masking.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo screen the preparation technology of Baoyuan chewable tablets and to preliminarily elucidate its anti-fatigue effect and mechanism. MethodTaking encapsulation rate of volatile oil, extract rate and extraction rate of active ingredients as indexes, single factor test and orthogonal test were used to optimize the volatile oil inclusion, aqueous decoction and formulation molding processes of Baoyuan chewable tablets. ICR rats were randomly divided into the blank group, model group, Gaoshan Hongjingtian oral liquids group(6.01 mL·kg-1) and and Baoyuan chewable tablets low, medium, and high dose groups(2.1, 4.2, 8.4 g·kg-1), 8 mice in each group, and were administered by gastric gavage at the corresponding dose once a day, the blank and model groups were given equal volume of saline for 15 d. After the last administration for 30 min, the mice were loaded with 5% of the body mass of lead at the tail and swam until exhaustion to establish the fatigue model, and the weighted swimming time of the mice in each group was recorded, meanwhile, the muscle tissues of the mice were sliced, stained by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) and subjected to pathological observation, and the levels of blood urea nitrogen(BUN), lactic acid(LA), liver glycogen(LG), activities of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) and creatine kinase(CK) in the serum were determined. ResultThe optimal inclusion process of cinnamon oil in Baoyuan chewable tablets was 10∶1 for β-cyclodextrin-volatile oil, and inclusion at 50 ℃ for 2 h with saturated aqueous solution method. The optimal water extraction process was to extract twice, adding 10 times of water to extract for 50 min for the first time, and adding 9 times of water to extract for 40 min for the second time. The ratio of the extract of Baoyuan chewable tablets with microcrystalline cellulose, maltodextrin, mannitol, citric acid, magnesium stearate was 63∶13∶8∶17∶17∶1∶1, the tablets were pressed by wet granulation, the each tablet weight was 1.2 g, and the hardness was 60-80 N. Compared with the model group, Baoyuan chewable tablets low, medium, and high dose groups could significantly prolong the exhaustion time of mice in weight bearing swimming(P<0.05, P<0.01), and improve the exercise endurance of the body, and the results of HE staining showed that all dose groups of Baoyuan chewable tablets could significantly improve the muscle tissue damage caused by exercise, significantly reduce the levels of BUN, LA and the activities of LDH and CK in serum(P<0.01), and significantly increase the content of LG(P<0.05, P<0.01). ConclusionThe optimized preparation process of Baoyuan chewable tablets is stable and feasible, and the preparation can improve exercise endurance by increasing the LG level in liver tissue, and relieve muscle soreness by accelerating the removal of LA from the body, and reduce CK and LDH activities to exert anti-fatigue effects.

RESUMO

Background: Premna Puberula Pamp. Pectin (PP) was a Wudang functional food in China. It has the effect of dispelling fire, clearing heat and detoxification in folk medicine. However, little studies have been reported for their preparation, quality control, effects and toxicity. Methods: The P. Puberula leaves were collected from different pharms and seasons. The compounds in PP were identified using UPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS. UV-VIS spectrophotometry with phenol-sulfuric acid and sodium nitrite aluminum nitrate were conducted for analyzing the water-soluble sugars and total flavonoids, respectively. L9(34) orthogonal experimental method was used to optimize the preparation process of PP. For the pharmacological effects of PP, the swelling right hind paw of ICR mice was modeled using subcutaneous injection of carrageenan gum solution, and the local tissue inflammatory reactions of the model mice were investigated using vernier calipers and HE staining. The serum inflammatory factor expression was detected using ELISA. The acute toxicity experiments were carried out for safety assessment of PP in ICR mice. Results: Fifty-three compounds were initially identified in PP among which flavonoids were dominant (19 out of 53). The average values of water-soluble sugar content and total flavonoid content of PP were 13.366 and 4.970 mg/g, respectively. The best preparation process of PP was powder-liquid ratio 1: 20, temperature 90 °C, and stirring time 3 min. Data showed that PP reduced paw edema and decrease the serum level of IL-6, TNF-α and IL-1ß in the model mice. There was no toxic effect of PP on mice at a total dose of 6000 mg/kg/24h. Conclusion: In summary, by optimizing the preparation process, PP with stable quality can be obtained. PP has anti-inflammatory effects without toxicity.

RESUMO

Antioxidant peptides extracted from natural foods have been studied for their potential use in the development of additives, nutraceuticals, and therapeutic agents. Nut proteins are considered an excellent source of plant-derived proteins for the human diet, due to their high protein content and digestibility of up to 86.22%. Furthermore, compared with grain and soybean proteins, nut proteins have a special amino acid composition, which makes their protein structure different, and promotes their disparate functional characteristics and great bioactivity potential. This review presents the most remarkable studies on antioxidant peptides from nuts, to gain insights into feasible production methods, different evaluation indexes within in vivo or in vitro systems, high bioavailability, and the complex structure-activity relationship resulting from the particularity of their protein structure and amino acid composition. Previously published studies mainly focused on the effects of the production methods/processes of nut-derived peptides on antioxidant activity, and proved that nut-extracted antioxidant peptides can resist the degradation of acid, alkali, and gastrointestinal enzymes, have high antioxidant activity in vitro and in vivo, and also have the potential to cross small intestinal epithelial cells in a stable and integral manner. However, the structure-activity relationship of antioxidant peptides from nuts has not been fully established, and the structure information of antioxidant peptides obtained from various nut protein sources is still unclear. The findings presented in this review can be used to provide the theoretical basis for the design and production of nut-derived antioxidant peptides.

RESUMO

As an alternative chitosan source, edible insects have been proposed as an unconventional but viable option. Taking fly pupae as an example, this work performed chitosan extraction through a traditional chemical method with some modifications, and investigated its physicochemical properties and antimicrobial activity. The results showed that adding 0.5% sodium sulfite (Na2SO3, w/w, Na2SO3/fly pupae) synergized with sodium hydroxide (NaOH) for deproteinization was more effective than lye alone. Acid leaching was applied for desalination, and the optimal concentration of hydrochloric acid (HCl) was determined as 2 mol/L by ash content. For decoloration, the optimal decolorization oxidant was sodium hypochlorite (NaClO) with a concentration of 1.0%. For the deacetylation of chitin to chitosan, both the yield and degree of deacetylation (DD) using segmented treatment with alkali-NaOH were higher than those of traditional one-time deacetylation. The established physicochemical properties corresponded with the typical characteristics of chitosan. The determination of antimicrobial activity of chitosan by the turbidimetric method showed that chitosan exhibited notable activity in the order of Staphylococcus aureus > Escherichia coli > Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and this effect decreased with the increase in viscosity-average molecular weight (Mη). These results proved the viability of our improved method for the preparation of chitosan, a valuable antimicrobial agent, using an alternative natural source.
