AIM: To evaluate the effect of low-degree astigmatism on objective visual quality through the Optical Quality Analysis System (OQAS). METHODS: This study enrolled 46 participants (aged 23 to 30y, 90 eyes) with normal or corrected-to-normal vision. The cylindrical lenses (0, 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, and 1.25 D) were placed at the axial direction (180°, 45°, 90°, and 135°) in front of the eyes with the best correction to form 16 types of regular low-degree astigmatism. OQAS was used to detect the objective visual quality, recorded as the objective scattering index (OSI), OQAS values at contrasts of 100%, 20%, and 9% predictive visual acuity (OV100%, OV20%, and OV9%), modulation transfer function cut-off (MTFcut-off) and Strehl ratio (SR). The mixed effect linear model was used to compare objective visual quality differences between groups and examine associations between astigmatic magnitude and objective visual quality parameters. RESULTS: Apparent negative relationships between the magnitude of low astigmatism and objective visual quality were observed. The increase of OSI per degree of astigmatism at 180°, 45°, 90°, and 135° axis were 0.38 (95%CI: 0.35, 0.42), 0.50 (95%CI: 0.46, 0.53), 0.49 (95%CI: 0.45, 0.54) and 0.37 (95%CI: 0.34, 0.41), respectively. The decrease of MTFcut-off per degree of astigmatism at 180°, 45°, 90°, and 135° axis were -10.30 (95%CI: -11.43, -9.16), -12.73 (95%CI: -13.62, -11.86), -12.75 (95%CI: -13.79, -11.70), and -9.97 (95%CI: -10.92, -9.03), respectively. At the same astigmatism degree, OSI at 45° and 90° axis were higher than that at 0° and 135° axis, while MTFcut-off were lower. CONCLUSION: Low astigmatism of only 0.50 D can significantly reduce the objective visual quality.

PURPOSE: Intraocular irrigating solution is extensively applied in cataract surgery. This paper explored the difference and relationship between optical coherence tomography (OCT) and optical quality analysis system (OQAS) parameters induced by compound electrolyte intraocular irrigating solution (CEIIS) or Ringer lactate (RL) solution during uncomplicated cataract surgery. METHODS: Totally 200 senior cataract patients were randomly divided into the CEIIS and RL groups (N = 100 patients/group). The anterior chamber was irrigated by CEIIS or RL during phacoemulsification. Patients were subdivided into diabetes mellitus (DM)+ and DM- groups. The central macular thickness (CMT), hyper reflective foci (HF), modulation transfer function cutoff frequency (MTF cutoff), Strehl ratio (SR), objective scatter index (OSI), and OQAS values (OVs) at 100%, 20%, and 9% contrast levels were measured preoperatively and 1 day and 1 week after operation using spectral-domain optical coherence tomography and OQAS II, respectively. Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was assessed using the Snellen scale, followed by statistical analysis of its logarithm of the minimal angle of resolution. RESULTS: There were no significant differences in clinical characteristics between the CEIIS and RL groups. Both groups exhibited notably increased postoperative CMT, MTF cutoff, SR, OV at 100%, 20%, and 9% contrast levels, and reduced OSI, indicating CEIIS and RL improved postoperative visual quality. CEIIS surpassed RL solution in improving postoperative visual quality, decelerating the increase of macular HF numbers and CMT in DM+ patients and postoperative BCVA. There was no difference between CEIIS and RL in long-term vision improvement. CONCLUSION: CEIIS surpasses RL in postoperative visual recovery and retards increases of macular HF numbers and CMT in senior DM+ cataract patients.

INTRODUCTION: ChatGPT and its application in producing patient education materials for orthopedic hand disorders has not been extensively studied. This study evaluated the quality and readability of educational information pertaining to common hand surgeries from patient education websites and information produced by ChatGPT. METHODS: Patient education information for four hand surgeries (carpal tunnel release, trigger finger release, Dupuytren's contracture, and ganglion cyst surgery) was extracted from ChatGPT (at a scientific and fourth-grade reading level), WebMD, and Mayo Clinic. In a blinded and randomized fashion, five fellowship-trained orthopaedic hand surgeons evaluated the quality of information using a modified DISCERN criteria. Readability and reading grade level were assessed using Flesch Reading Ease (FRE) and Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL) equations. RESULTS: The Mayo Clinic website scored higher in terms of quality for carpal tunnel release information (p = 0.004). WebMD scored higher for Dupuytren's contracture release (p < 0.001), ganglion cyst surgery (p = 0.003), and overall quality (p < 0.001). ChatGPT - 4th Grade Reading Level, ChatGPT - Scientific Reading Level, WebMD, and Mayo Clinic written materials on average exceeded recommended reading grade levels (4th-6th grade) by at least four grade levels (10th, 14th, 13th, and 11th grade, respectively). CONCLUSIONS: ChatGPT provides inferior education materials compared to patient-friendly websites. When prompted to provide more easily read materials, ChatGPT generates less robust information compared to patient-friendly websites and does not adequately simplify the educational information. ChatGPT has potential to improve the quality and readability of patient education materials but currently, patient-friendly websites provide superior quality at similar reading comprehension levels.

This study aimed to assess the diagnostic accuracy of radiomics for predicting osteoporosis and the quality of radiomic studies. The study protocol was prospectively registered on PROSPERO (CRD42023425058). We searched PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases from inception to June 1, 2023, for eligible articles that applied radiomic techniques to diagnosing osteoporosis or abnormal bone mass. Quality and risk of bias of the included studies were evaluated with radiomics quality score (RQS), METhodological RadiomICs Score (METRICS), and Quality Assessment of Diagnostic Accuracy Studies-2 (QUADAS-2) tools. The data analysis utilized the R program with mada, metafor, and meta packages. Ten retrospective studies with 5926 participants were included in the systematic review and meta-analysis. The overall risk of bias and applicability concerns for each domain of the studies were rated as low, except for one study which was considered to have a high risk of flow and time bias. The mean METRICS score was 70.1% (range 49.6-83.2%). There was moderate heterogeneity across studies and meta-regression identified sources of heterogeneity in the data, including imaging modality, feature selection method, and classifier. The pooled diagnostic odds ratio (DOR) under the bivariate random effects model across the studies was 57.22 (95% CI 27.62-118.52). The pooled sensitivity and specificity were 87% (95% CI 81-92%) and 87% (95% CI 77-93%), respectively. The area under the summary receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of the radiomic models was 0.94 (range 0.8 to 0.98). The results supported that the radiomic techniques had good accuracy in diagnosing osteoporosis or abnormal bone mass. The application of radiomics in osteoporosis diagnosis needs to be further confirmed by more prospective studies with rigorous adherence to existing guidelines and multicenter validation.

Chebulae Fructus (CF) is known as one of the richest sources of hydrolyzable tannins (HTs). In this study, ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled with a photodiode array detector method was established for simultaneous determination of the 12 common phenolcarboxylic and tannic constituents (PTCs). Using this method, quantitative analysis was accomplished in CF and other four adulterants, including Terminaliae Belliricae Fructus, Phyllanthi Fructus, Chebulae Fructus Immaturus, and Canarii Fructus. Based on a quantitative analysis of the focused compounds, discrimination of CF and other four adulterants was successfully accomplished by hierarchical cluster analysis and principal component analysis. Additionally, the total contents of the 12 compounds that we focused on in this study were unveiled as 148.86 mg/g, 96.14 mg/g, and 18.64 mg/g in exocarp, mesocarp, and endocarp and seed of CF, respectively, and PTCs were witnessed to be the most abundant in the exocarp of CF. Noticeably, the HTs (chebulagic acid, chebulanin acid, chebulinic acid, and punicalagin) were observed to be ultimately degraded to chebulic acid, gallic acid, and ellagic acid during sunlight-drying of the fresh fruits. As a result, our study indicated that CF and its adulterants could be distinguished by the observed 12 PTCs, which were mainly distributed in the exocarp of the fruits. The HTs were prone to degrade into the three simple phenolcarboxylic acids during drying or processing, allowing us to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of the PTCs, with great significance in the improved quality of CF and related products.

In recent years, the rising levels of atmospheric particulate matter (PM) have an impact on the earth's system, leading to undesirable consequences on various aspects like human health, visibility, and climate. The present work is carried out over an insufficiently studied but polluted urban area of Peshawar, which lies at the foothills of the famous Himalaya and Karakorum area, Northern Pakistan. The particulate matter with an aerodynamic diameter of less than 10 µm, i.e., PM10 are collected and analyzed for mineralogical, morphological, and chemical properties. Diverse techniques were used to examine the PM10 samples, for instance, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, x-ray diffraction, and scanning electron microscopy along with energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, proton-induced x-ray emission, and an OC/EC carbon analyzer. The 24 h average PM10 mass concentration along with standard deviation was investigated to be 586.83 ± 217.70 µg/m3, which was around 13 times greater than the permissible limit of the world health organization (45 µg/m3) and 4 times the Pakistan national environmental quality standards for ambient PM10 (150 µg/m3). Minerals such as crystalline silicate, carbonate, asbestiform minerals, sulfate, and clay minerals were found using FTIR and XRD investigations. Microscopic examination revealed particles of various shapes, including angular, flaky, rod-like, crystalline, irregular, rounded, porous, chain, spherical, and agglomeration structures. This proved that the particles had geogenic, anthropogenic, and biological origins. The average value of organic carbon, elemental carbon, and total carbon is found to be 91.56 ± 43.17, 6.72 ± 1.99, and 102.41 ± 44.90 µg/m3, respectively. Water-soluble ions K+ and OC show a substantial association (R = 0.71). Prominent sources identified using Principle component analysis (PCA) are anthropogenic, crustal, industrial, and electronic combustion. This research paper identified the potential sources of PM10, which are vital for preparing an air quality management plan in the urban environment of Peshawar.

RESEARCH QUESTION: What impact do variations in embryo transfer catheter loading and movement procedures have on temperature and pH fluctuations during embryo transfer? DESIGN: Mock embryo transfers were conducted to test the impact of air flow/movement, use of catheter coverings, and the type of workstation used for catheter loading on catheter temperature. A thermocouple probe inserted into the tip of the outer catheter or taped to the exterior of the inner catheter recorded temperature within the catheter every 5 s from time of mock embryo loading (TL) to 60 s (TL + 60 s) or from the start of transit (TT). Fluctuations in culture medium pH in embryo transfer dishes were monitored. RESULTS: The rate of cooling during transit was faster (all P < 0.05) when catheters were uncovered compared with all covering methods tested. This resulted in a lower catheter temperature at TL + 20 s (28.43 ± 0.30 °C) compared with catheters covered by plastic tubing (31.4 ± 0.30 °C), paper (31.0 ± 0.26 °C) or paper + thumb (31.1 ± 0.78 °C; all P ≤ 0.05). Temperature was maintained more effectively when catheters were loaded in a crib compared with a heated stage, until initiation of transit, when the rate of temperature decrease was similar. Culture medium pH increased more rapidly when embryo transfer dishes remained on a heated stage during the procedure compared with in an open crib. CONCLUSIONS: Temperature loss during the embryo transfer procedure can be mitigated by reducing the transit time and using catheter coverings. Use of a crib for catheter loading only improved temperature stability while the catheter remained in the crib, not during transit, and reduced pH fluctuations during the procedure.

INTRODUCTION: Calculus bovis (C. bovis) is a typical traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) derived from animals, which has a remarkable curative effect and high price. OBJECTIVES: Rapid identification of C. bovis from different types was realized based on spectral technology, and a rapid quantitative analysis method for the main quality control indicator bilirubin was established. METHODS: We conducted a supervised and unsupervised pattern recognition study on 44 batches of different types of C. bovis by five spectral pretreatment methods. Three variable selection methods were used to extract the essential information, and the partial least squares regression (PLSR) quantitative model of bilirubin by near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was constructed. RESULTS: The partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) model could achieve 100% accuracy in identifying different types of C. bovis. The R2 of the NIR quantitative model was 0.979, which is close to 1, and the root mean square error of calibration (RMSEC) was 2.3515, indicating the good prediction ability of the model. CONCLUSION: The study was carried out to further improve the basic data of quality control of C. bovis and help the high-quality development of TCM derived from animals.

The effects of different fermentation methods utilizing Torulaspora delbrueckii 1004 and Saccharomyces cerevisiae 32169 on the physicochemical properties, organic acid content, polyphenol and flavonoid concentrations, antioxidant activity, and volatile aroma compounds of Huaniu apple cider were investigated in this study. Employing methods of single inoculation, co-inoculation, and sequential inoculation, it was found that sequential fermentation exhibited strong fermentative power in the initial stages, effectively reducing the content of soluble solids and achieving a balanced composition of malic, succinic, and citric acids while maintaining a lower titratable acidity. Sequential inoculation was observed to significantly enhance the total polyphenols and flavonoids, as well as the antioxidant capacity (p < 0.05). Specifically, in the synthesis of volatile aroma compounds, sequential inoculation significantly enhanced the richness and diversity of the Huaniu apple cider's aromas, particularly in terms of the concentration of ester compounds (p < 0.05). Principal component analysis further confirmed the superiority of sequential inoculation in terms of aroma component diversity and richness. The findings of this study suggest that sequential inoculation of fermentation with non-Saccharomyces and S. cerevisiae is an effective strategy for optimizing the flavor characteristics of Huaniu apple cider, offering valuable theoretical support and practical guidance for enhancing cider quality and fostering the development of new products.

RESUMO

This paper presents an indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring system designed for a better end-user experience. The monitoring system consists of elements, from the monitoring sensor to the monitoring interface, designed and implemented by the research team, especially for the proposed monitoring system. The monitoring solution is intended for users who live in houses without automatic ventilation systems. The air quality sensor is designed at a minimum cost and complexity to allow multi-zone implementation without significant effort. The user interface uses a spatial graphic representation that facilitates understanding areas with different air quality levels. Presentation of the outdoor air quality level supports the user's decision to ventilate a space. An innovative element of the proposed monitoring interface is the real-time forecast of air quality evolution in each monitored space. The paper describes the implementation of an original monitoring solution (monitoring device, Edge/Cloud management system, innovative user monitoring interface) and presents the results of testing this system in a relevant environment. The research conclusions show the proposed solution's benefits in improving the end-user experience, justified both by the technical results obtained and by the opinion of the users who tested the monitoring system.

BACKGROUND: Nitrite has been involved in many food processing techniques and its excessive consumption is closely related to the development of different diseases. Therefore, highly sensitive detection of nitrite is significant to ensure food safety. RESULT: This study presents a simple and novel strategy for the highly sensitive detection of nitrite in food using paper-based analytical devices (PADs). In this proposed strategy, the nitrite present in the sample undergoes efficient diazotization when initially mixed with sulfanilamide solution before reacting with N-(1-naphthyl) ethylenediamine dihydrochloride (NED) coated on the detection region of the PAD, leading to the maximum production of colored azo compounds. Specifically, within the concentration range of 0.1-20 mg/L, the LOD and LOQ for the nitrite assay using the premixing strategy are determined as 0.053 mg/L and 0.18 mg/L, respectively which significantly surpass the corresponding values of 0.18 mg/L (LOD) and 0.61 mg/L (LOQ) achieved with the regular Griess reagent analysis. SIGNIFICANCE: The study highlights the critical importance of the premixing strategy in nitrite detection. Under optimized conditions, the strategy demonstrates an excellent limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) for nitrite detection in eight different meat samples. In addition to its high precision, the strategy is applicable in the field of nitrite analysis. This strategy could facilitate rapid and cost-effective nitrite analysis in real food samples, ensuring food safety and quality analysis.

Gene therapy holds great promise for the treatment of severe diseases, and adeno-associated virus (AAV) vectors have emerged as valuable tools in this field. However, challenges such as immunogenicity and high production costs complicate the commercial viability of AAV-based therapies. To overcome these barriers, improvements in production yield, driven through the availability of robust and sensitive characterization techniques that allow for the monitoring of critical quality attributes to deepen product and process understanding are crucial. Among the main attributes affecting viral production and performance, the ratio between empty and full capsids along with capsid protein stoichiometry are emerging as potential parameters affecting product quality and safety. This study focused on the production of AAV vectors using the baculovirus expression vector system (BEVS) in Sf9 cells and the complete characterization of AAV5 variants using novel liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry techniques (LC-MS) that, up to this point, had only been applied to reference commercially produced virions. When comparing virions produced using ATG, CTG or ACG start codons of the cap gene, we determined that although ACG was the most productive in terms of virus yield, it was also the least effective in transducing mammalian cells. This correlated with a low VP1/VP2 ratio and a higher percentage of empty capsids. Overall, this study provides insights into the impact of translational start codon modifications during rAAV5 production using the BEVS, the associated relationship with capsid packaging, capsid protein stoichiometry and potency. The developed characterization workflow using LC-MS offers a comprehensive and transferable analysis of AAV-based gene therapies, with the potential to aid in process optimization and facilitate the large-scale commercial manufacturing of these promising treatments.

The present study aimed to analyze and establish an effective combination of ultrasound and immersion pretreatment processes for drying Taikor (Garcinia pendunculata Roxb.) fruits. Taikorslices were first immersed in 10 % sucrose, fructose, and glucose solution. Then, the immersed slices were treated in an ultrasonic bath at 30 °C for 10, 20, and 30 min. Drying operations were carried out at 50, 60, and 70 °C, with a fixed relative humidity of 30 %. The Page, Newton, Henderson and Pabis, and Weibull distribution models were fitted to the obtained drying data to determine the best kinetic model that effectively describes the drying properties ofTaikor. After drying operations, changes in quality parameters, e.g., ß-carotene, vitamin C, B vitamins, color, antioxidant activities, and microbial loads, were measured to obtain the best drying temperature and the most effective pretreatment combination with minimum loss of nutrients of the sample. Among different kinetic models, both Page and Weibull distribution models showed the best R2 values of 0.9867 and 0.9366, respectively. The chemical properties were preserved to the greatest extent possible by drying at 50 °C with glucose pretreatment. The color parameters were better preserved by fructose pretreatment. Sonication time also had profound effect on the quality parameters of dried Taikor slices. However, higher temperature drying required a shorter time for drying and exhibited better performance in microbial load reduction. This study's findings will help to establish an effective drying condition forGarcinia pedunculatafruits.

INTRODUCTION: The quality evaluation of Coptidis rhizome (CR) is attributed to the origin and processing method, and this strategy of ignoring the bioactive components usually leads to biased quality analysis, which is difficult to indicate the clinical efficacy. OBJECTIVES: In order to evaluate the quality level of different species of CR, we collected 20 batches of CR and investigated the fingerprint-effect relationship. METHODS: High-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) fingerprints of CR were established, and the fingerprint-effect relationship was explored using cluster analysis, principal component analysis, Pearson correlation analysis, grey relation analysis, and partial least squares regression. RESULTS: We have identified a total of 10 common peaks (1-10) with similarity scores above 0.96. The study on the relationship between spectra and potency further showed that the contents of peaks 8, 9, and 10 are potential key components. And based on a previous study, a method of one measurement and multiple evaluations of CR was established to achieve the goal of simplifying the analytical process and reducing costs. CONCLUSION: Through a combination of fingerprint analysis, antioxidant activity evaluation, fingerprint-efficacy relationship analysis, and simultaneous quantification of multiple components, a CR quality control index and method have been selected and established, which can also provide a more comprehensive quality evaluation for traditional Chinese medicine.

Food product drying is a crucial stage in the preservation of crops and agricultural by-products that are used as raw materials for numerous end applications. The novelty of the study is the application of a phase change material in a solar dryer to improve the effectiveness of drying and reducing the overall drying period for drying while retaining/improving the quality parameters of the dried dhekia (Diplazium esculentum). The modified indirect thermal storage integrated solar dryer made up of a single-pass solar collector is attached with the drying chamber of 16.5 kg capacity. A thermal energy storage system prepared with paraffin wax embedded inside the drying cabinet was used. The proposed solar dryer has a thermal efficiency that is 11 ± 0.2% greater than the conventionally constructed solar dryer and reduces drying time by 40 ± 2.1%. Drying kinetic analysis of dhekia was performed, and two new drying kinetic models were proposed to predict moisture ratio. From statistical analysis, it was found that the chi square value and root mean square error value fits well for the proposed models. The anti-oxidant, total phenolic content, and total flavonoid content values of samples dried in solar dryer exhibit better results compared to fresh, tray dried, and open sun-dried samples. The developed dryer shows better results in saving drying time and quality of the product. Due to its affordability and long-term solution for drying fresh farm goods, this dryer can be very helpful to small-scale farmers.

Xiaoyaowan has the effects of soothing the liver, invigorating the spleen, regulating menstruation, and nourishing blood. It is often used to treat the distending pain of the chest and hypochondriac, loss of appetite, dizziness, and irregular menstruation caused by liver depression and spleen deficiency. The formula originated from the Sinisan of Treatise on Cold Damage(《伤寒论》) in the Han dynasty and was officially formulated in the Song dynasty's Taiping Royal Prescriptions(《太平惠民合计局方》). In the Ming and Qing dynasties, it was developed into more comprehensive formulas such as modified Bazhentang, modified Xiaoyaowan, and other formulas. In recent years, Xiaoyaowan has become a classic formula for treating many symptoms of liver depression. The Pharmacopoeia of the People's Republic of China(《中华人民共和国药典》), 2020 edition, records Xiaoyaowan and modified Xiaoyaowan. Modern clinical research has further expanded the therapeutic range of this formula. Through literature research, it is found that there are certain reports on the clinical application and quality analysis of Xiaoyaowan, but the relevant literature lacks collation so far. Therefore, relevant literature was consulted and sorted out. The paper summarized the treatment of mammary hyperplasia, depression, irregular menstruation, melasma, menopausal syndrome, and polycystic ovary syndrome with Xiaoyaowan, as well as the quality analysis of paeoniflorin, ferulic acid, and glycyrrhizinic acid of Xiaoyaowan. It is expected to lay a foundation for further research on clinical application, pharmacodynamic mechanism, and quality control of this classic formula.

Clinopodium nepeta subsp. spruneri is an aromatic herb with a mint-oregano flavor, used in Mediterranean regions in traditional medicine. The aerial parts of the plant are rich in essential oil that has antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties as well as insecticidal activity. The aim of our work was to determine the yield and composition of the essential oil of the plant, in relation to the harvest season and cultivation method, i.e., outdoor, greenhouse and in vitro culture, using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) as an analytical tool. Essential oil yield fluctuated similarly in outdoor and greenhouse plants during the year (0.9-2.6%), with higher percentages (2.1-2.6%) in the hottest periods June-October (flowering stage) and April (vegetative stage), and was similar to the yield in in vitro plants (1.7%). More compounds were identified in the oil of outdoor and greenhouse plants (35) compared to that of in vitro plants (21), while the main compounds were the same, i.e., pulegone (13.0-32.0%, highest in February-April, 15.0% in vitro), piperitenone oxide (3.8-31.8%, lowest in February, 34.2% in vitro), piperitone epoxide (4.6-16.4%, highest in February, 15.5% in vitro), D-limonene (2.1-8.8%, lowest in February, 10.0% in vitro), isomenthone (2.3-23.0%, highest in February, 4.6% in vitro), germacrene D (1.9-6.5% highest in December-April, 2.9% in vitro) and dicyclogermacrene (2.1-5.3%, highest in December-April, 5.2% in vitro). Therefore, greenhouse and in vitro cultures were equally efficient in yielding essential oil and its constituents as outdoor cultivation, while in outdoor and greenhouse cultivations, the harvest season, mainly due to the prevailing ambient temperatures, affected the essential oil yield and its percentage composition.

During industrial production activities, industrial products serve as critical resources whose performance is subject to various external factors and usage conditions. To ensure uninterrupted production processes and to guarantee the safety of the production personnel, a real-time analysis of the industrial product quality and subsequent decision making are essential. Conventional detection methods have inherent limitations in meeting the real-time demands of processing large volumes of data and achieving high response speeds. For instance, the regular inspection and maintenance of cars can be time-consuming and labor-intensive if performed manually. Furthermore, monitoring the damage situation of bearings in real time through a manual inspection may lead to delays and may hinder production efficiency. Therefore, this paper presents online machine-learning-based methods to address these two practical problems and simulates them on various datasets to meet the requirements of efficiency and speed. Prior to being fed into the network for training, the data undergo identity parsing to transform them into easily identifiable streaming data. The training process demonstrates that online machine learning ensures timely model updates as small batches of data are sent to the network. The test results indicate that the online learning method exhibits highly stable and effective performance, optimizing the training process.

The study examined soil and honey samples from the Maramureș region, assessing potentially toxic elements and their concentrations. The highest concentrations were found for (Cu), (Zn), (Pb), (Cr), (Ni), (Cd), (Co), and (As), while (Hg) remained below the detection limit. Samples near anthropogenic sources displayed elevated metal levels, with the Aurul settling pond and Herja mine being major contamination sources. Copper concentrations exceeded the legal limits in areas near these sources. Zinc concentrations were highest near mining areas, and Pb and Cd levels surpassed the legal limits near beehives producing acacia honey. Nickel and Co levels were generally within limits but elevated near the Herja mine. The study highlighted the role of anthropogenic activities in heavy metal pollution. In the second part, honey samples were analyzed for heavy metal concentrations, with variations across types and locations. Positive correlations were identified between certain elements in honey, influenced by factors like location and pollution sources. The research emphasized the need for pollution control measures to ensure honey safety. The bioaccumulation factor analysis indicated a sequential metal transfer from soil to honey. The study's comprehensive approach sheds light on toxic element contamination in honey, addressing pollution sources and pathways.

Edible coatings are pivotal in enhancing the quality of processed meat products, acting as barriers to environmental and microbial influences by adhering directly to the food surface. Arrowroot flour, a widely produced edible tuber in Thailand, is uncharted in terms of its capability and effectiveness as an edible coating on food materials. This study aims to elucidate the composition and spectral properties of arrowroot tuber flour (ATF) to discern its viability as an edible coating for pork sausages. ATF exhibited a composition predominantly featuring carbohydrates (74.78%), moisture (9.59%), and protein (8.89%), underlining its appropriateness as an edible coating. Rapid visco amylograph revealed ATF's significant pasting capability. This study incorporated kaffir lime leaves essential oil (KEO) into the ATF coating in diverse concentrations (0-3%). Fourier-transform Infrared spectroscopy illuminated characteristic peaks and bands, showing observable shifts with the integration of KEO, yet the majority of peak placements remained essentially unchanged. The microstructure of the coatings maintained its homogeneity at heightened KEO concentrations, reflecting compatibility with ATF. The efficacy of the ATF-KEO coatings was evaluated on pork sausages, using uncoated samples as controls. While color modifications were evident, coated sausages maintained consistent moisture content, water activity, and pH levels throughout the storage duration. The coated samples also manifested enhanced textural attributes and a decline in lipid oxidation, as evidenced by reduced TBARS levels compared to controls. A subsequent microbial examination corroborated the inhibitory capacity of the ATF-KEO coatings on the microbial proliferation in pork sausages, encapsulating Total Viable Count (TVC), psychrotrophic bacteria, and lactic acid bacteria. In conclusion, the findings substantiate the promising application of ATF, especially in synergy with KEO, as a proficient edible coating for meat products. This combination aids in preserving color and texture, impeding microbial advancement, and moderating lipid oxidation, thereby contributing to the overall quality and safety of the products.
