RESUMO
The authors describe a novel technique of performing retinoscopy assisted with a smartphone (gimbalscope). We found this technique of digital retinoscopy to be useful for demonstrating and documenting retinoscopic reflexes and in addition as an easy teaching tool. This technical report explains the assembly of our smartphone-assisted retinoscope and provides examples of the range of normal and abnormal reflexes that can be captured.

The video retinoscope presented here makes it possible for the first time to interactively demonstrate, discuss, evaluate and document optical phenomena with the aid of an integrated touch display. The precision in relation to the objective refraction results between the conventional retinoscope (CS) and video retinoscope (VS) is comparable (pâ¯= 0.093, Wilcoxon test). On the basis of questionnaires using visual analogue scales (0â¯= very unfavorable/10â¯= very favorable; subsequently the median/interquartile range is given) during a pilot study, 12 test persons rated the CS (VS) with respect to the feasibility of continuous light band movements with 6.9/1.3 (6.0/4.2) and the ease of use with 8.1/2.1 (8.9/1.6) out of a maximum of 10 points each and thus both retinoscopes as equivalent. In terms of weight, the subjects favored the conventional retinoscope with a rating of 8.7/2.2 (4.0/4.8).

@#AIM: To study the application value of digital and visual retinoscope in the detection of ametropia in adolescents.<p>METHODS:A retrospective analysis of digital visual inspection and traditional retinography test results of 69 adolescents in the ophthalmology department of our hospital from January 2019 to October 2019. SPSS 20.0 software analyzed the correlation of spherical equivalent, diopter of cylindrical power and axial direction measured by two detection methods. Taking the clinical examination results as the control, the diagnostic value was compared. <p>RESULTS: There was no statistically significant difference in the measuring of spherical equivalent, diopter of cylindrical power and axial direction between digital and visual retinoscope and traditional retinography(<i>t</i>=0.081, 1.778, 0.983, <i>P</i>=0.935, 0.077, 0.327). And there was a significant positive correlation(<i>r</i>=0.745, 0.572, 0.941,<i> P</i><0.01). At the same time, two detection methods have the same sensitivity. Digital and visual retinoscope higher than traditional retinography at the specificity, accuracy, positive predictivevalue and negative predictive value.<p>CONCLUSION: The detection of ametropia in adolescents with digital and visual retinoscope has a good correlation with traditional retinography. Compared with the latter, the former has improved for the diagnosis of ametropia, which deserves clinical attention.
RESUMO
A new retinoscope with the ultrasonic distance measure instrument is designed for directly displaying the dioptre of artificial myopia caused by retinoscopy distance.Optometrist can obtain real dioptre of the patient if only adding the direct dioptre of artificial myopia to neutral dioptre obtained at roll-back point.This instrument can obviously increase the accuracy of refraction.
RESUMO
Photorefraction was performed in 96 cases(191 eyes) after instillation of tropicamide and cyclopentolate for the purpose of screening procedure. And then refraction was also carried out by retinoscope. From this comparison study, phtorefraction provided data which were very close to those obtained from the conventional retinoscopy.
