In order to discuss the more general theme of the invention that presents itself in the scope of psychoanalytic clinic, this work propose to think about the issue of the workaround as a particular case of invention marked by the dimension of precariousness. This precariousness is of interest hereto the extent that it allows us to achieve a non-idealized reading of what Lacan formulates as an invention to describe the destiny given to the symptom at the end of a psychoanalysis, which would be a way of dealing with something for which there is no predefined symbolic setting. From this perspective, we believe that the psychoanalyst's practice updates the DIY aspect of the workaround as an escape towards the inventive singularity.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: In India, frontline workers (FLWs) - public accredited social health activists (ASHAs) and private rural medical providers (RMPs) - are important for early detection and treatment of childhood diarrhoea and pneumonia. This cross-sectional study aims to measure knowledge and skills, and the gap between the two ('know-can' gap), regarding assessment of childhood diarrhoea with dehydration and pneumonia among FLWs, and to explore factors associated with them. METHODS: We surveyed 473 ASHAs and 447 RMPs in six districts of Uttar Pradesh. We assessed knowledge and skills using face-to-face interviews and video vignettes, respectively, about key signs of both conditions. The 'know-can' gap corresponds to absent skills among FLWs with correct knowledge. We used logistic regression to identify the correlates of knowledge and skills. RESULTS: FLWs' correct knowledge ranged from 23% to 48% for dehydration signs and 27% to 37% for pneumonia signs. Their skills ranged from 3% to 42% for dehydration and 3% to 18% for pneumonia. There was a significant 'know-can' gap in all the signs, except 'sunken eyes'. Training and supervisory support was associated with better knowledge and skills for diarrhoea with dehydration, but only better knowledge for pneumonia. CONCLUSIONS: FLWs are crucial to the Indian health system, and high-quality FLW services are necessary for continued progress against under-five deaths. The gap between FLWs' knowledge and skills warrants immediate attention. In particular, our results suggest that knowledge-focused trainings are insufficient for FLWs to convert knowledge into appropriate assessment skills.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether the introduction of a fundamental movement skills (FMS) program to grade 4-6 physical education (PE) classes could improve students' physical literacy (PL) and influence the amount of effort exerted in PE class. Athletics Canada's grassroots Run Jump Throw Wheel (RJTW) Program was delivered for 10 weeks during PE classes (2 schools: four grade 4, four grade 5, two grade 6, one split grade 5-6 class, and one split grade 6-7 class, totalling 310 students). Participants completed the Canadian Assessment of Physical Literacy (CAPL) and wore heart rate monitors and pre- and postintervention. The CAPL score increased 3.3 (±8.8) points from the pretest to the post-test (t = 6.47, p < 0.001). Improvements were not significantly different by grade or gender, but those in the suburban-area school improved more so than those attending the rural-area school (F[1,294] = 4.82, p < 0.004). Among those participants that increased their PL (n = 186), the CAPL scores increased by 8.6 (±5.9) points versus those that decreased (n = 110; -5.6 ± 4.8 points), F[1,294] = 452.11, p < 0.001. No significant differences in time spent in physical activity were observed between the pre- and post-test (i.e., 17.0 ± 7.0 min and 19.3 ± 7.0 min, respectively, t = 1.70, p = 0.091). The RJTW program increased participants' overall FMS, as well as their knowledge and understanding regarding these FMS, both key components of PL.

RESUMO

Inter-day hospital supervisions in child psychiatry, through clinical and case studies, give caregivers a chance to review and reflect on their practices as well as training and tools. Experienced psychiatry experts share their knowledge. Through the exchanges, professionals analyse and develop practices. Caregivers from Toulouse describe the benefits observed through these practices both on a collective and individual level.

RESUMO

The early 1980s saw a 'paradigm change' in how donated blood was handled and used by blood centres, hospitals and pharmaceutical companies. In Sweden, a five-year state-financed R&D programme initiated a swift modernization process, an alleged 'revolution' of existing blood centre practices. In this article, we use interviews and archival material to analyse the role of female biomedical technicians in this rapid technical and organizational change. In focus is their working knowledge, or savoir-faire, of blood, instruments and techniques. We give a detailed analysis of technicians' embrained and embodied skills to create safety in blood and its representations, handle contingencies and invent new procedures and techniques. These transformations are analysed as sociomaterial entanglements, where the doing and undoing of gender, sociomaterial practices, hierarchies of authority and expertise, and emotions are intertwined.
