RESUMO

The levels of medium-weight molecules and the parameters of lipid peroxidation (antioxidative defence) were studied in 64 patients with chronic bronchitis (33 with chronic pyoobstructive bronchitis and 31 with nonobstructive bronchitis). There was a substantial increase in the concentrations of lipid peroxides, malonic dialdehyde, and medium-weight molecules in the blood and a considerable decrease in its levels of vitamin E and the enzyme catalase. To correct the above disorders, the author used the conventional therapy alone or in combination with endobronchial laser radiation. The results of treatment, which were assessed by the end of 3rd and 6th weeks of its initiation, only does a combination of traditional therapy and laser radiation provides a balance of the lipid peroxidation balance--antioxidative defence followed by its stabilization by the end of week 6 of treatment.

RESUMO

When tested in 115 patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis and bronchial asthma, low-energy laser radiation (Uzor unit) on bronchial obstruction had no direct broncholytic action. However, as a component of combined treatment, the above radiation produced a marked broncholytic effect due to its antiinflammatory action. Laser is recommended as a therapeutic modality in combined management of pulmonary obstruction.

RESUMO

The article presents results of endobronchial treatment with low-intensity laser in 56 patients with chronic non-obstructive bronchitis (CNOB). Irradiation was carried out in 5-7 positions. Course of the treatment consisted of 4-6 seances. 14 days after the start of the treatment patients showed improvement of general condition, normalization of body temperature, reduction of cough, disappearance of endoscopic inflammatory changes in bronchial mucosa. Morphometrical data evidenced activation of proliferative processes and normalization of bronchial secretion which indicated increase of tissue metabolism. Cytological study revealed qualitative improvement of epithelial cover. Low-intensity laser is noted to be highly effective in the treatment of patients with CNOB, especially in the early stage of pathological process.

RESUMO

The study established that shifts in oxidant-antioxidant system induced by chronic obstructive bronchitis are correctable by He-Ne laser irradiation. This conclusion was based on biochemical indices of the blood measured in experimental animals: lipid peroxidation, general antitryptic activity of the serum, activity of the enzymes superoxide dismutase, gamma-glutamyl transferase, pseudocholine esterase, alpha-oxybutyrate dehydrogenase, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase.

RESUMO

Results of combined treatment of 100 patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis are presented in the paper. Intravascular laser irradiation of blood had a favourable effect on the clinical disease course, normalized parameters of lipid peroxidation, produced a marked immune stimulating and anti-inflammatory action, controlled the blood coagulation system and improved rheological blood properties. Intravascular laser irradiation of blood included in the complex of therapeutic measures increased the efficiency of therapy in patients with chronic obstructive bronchitis by 12.0 +/- 2.6%.

RESUMO

Electromagnetic radiation microwave frequency (MVF) was used in the complex treatment of local infectious infiltrates, as well as chronic bronchitis and acute pneumonia. Preliminary in vitro studies have shown that MVF does not produce any unfavourable effect on the immune system and does not induce the main disease progressing. Indications and contraindications have been described for MVF use in the treatment of patients with hemoblastosis. The method of MVF application includes a gradual increase of intensity and time of MVF action on the affected focus. The course of treatment consists of 8-12 sessions, the improvement being recorded after 3-5 sessions. It has been found that MVF induces improvement of red blood cell rheologic properties, arrest of local inflammatory processes, during shorter terms as compared to patients who were not treated by MVF, as well as it produces a favourable effect on hemodynamic parameters. Complete arresting of the inflammatory process has been recorded in 94.0% of patients with hemoblastosis. The results of the investigation permit recommending MVF in the treatment of infectious (postinjection and postbemorrhagic) infiltrates, chronic bronchitis and acute pneumonia that complicate the course of hemoblastosis. This method of treatment not only diminishes the terms of infectious process elimination, but also increases the effectiveness of their control.

RESUMO

Low-intensive laser was used in the treatment of dust bronchitis with bronchospastic syndrome. As a result, bronchospasms were relieved, the external respiration function improved and corticosteroid preparation dosages were lowered. Stimulation of the immune system was performed through the T-cellular immunity.

RESUMO

The effectiveness of endobronchial low-energy laser therapy was studied in 28 patients with chronic nonobstructive bronchitis concurrent with thinning of bronchial mucosa. The course of treatment made it possible to obtain positive dynamics of most parameters of immunologic reactivity in CNB patients. Systemic immunity parameters, except for the NST and concentration of circulating immune complexes, underwent essential normalization. Marked positive changes were found in the parameters characterizing functional activity of alveolar macrophages: there was a 2.5-fold increase in adhesive properties and over 1.3-fold increase in the percentage of phagocytes. The level of secretory IgA rose significantly (by 3.5 times). Hence, a manifested therapeutic effect of this therapeutic method is mainly associated with its immune-stimulating action.

RESUMO

The results of a dynamic examination with the use of an electron microscope of semi- and ultrathin sections of the epithelial lining of the respiratory tract in the experimental dogs under endobronchial treatment of nonspecific endobronchitis with varying doses of low-energy radiation from helium-neon laser are presented. It was proved that the outcomes of regeneration of the bronchial mucosal membrane epithelium under endobronchial treatment of purulent endobronchitis with low-energy radiation of the helium-neon laser much depend both on exposure time (single doses of energy), and multiplicity (cumulative dose of energy), and the period after the laser therapy. The most favourable regeneration takes place under 5-minute (single dose of 4.5 J) radiation with 8 to 9 sessions (cumulative dose of 23.1 +/- 1.5 J). A regeneration most close to the normal condition of the bronchial mucous membrane epithelium is achieved at 2.5-3d months after the onset of the experiment (or a month after the laser therapy).

RESUMO

The rate of mucociliary transport (MCT) in dogs with an experimental pulmonary tuberculosis and concurrent suppurative endobronchitis (SEB) and just with the latter was measured. The treatment effect was achieved by an endobronchial radiation with a CO2-laser unfocused beam of 3.56 and 5.3 w/cm2 power density, and the dogs in the control group were subjected to an endobronchial introduction of furagin. A comparison of the endoscopic picture and MCT rate findings made it possible to believe that the latter index appeared to be more reliable than a visual inspection of the bronchial mucous membrane. An active specific process in the lungs brings about MCT rate inhibition while the concurrent SEB aggravates these changes to a great extent. The radiation of the bronchial mucous membrane with the CO2-laser unfocused beam produces an immediate positive effect on MCT rate normalization. Better results were observed at a power density of 3.56 w/cm2.

RESUMO

Laser therapies of 43 dust bronchitis patients (4 cases in 1st stage and 39 cases in 2nd stage) were performed in comparison with routine therapeutic procedures of 28 patients (6 cases in 1st stage and 22 cases in 2nd stage). 14 acupuncture points were selected. A good therapeutic effect was attained in 16.3% sample group and 7.1% control group patients, satisfactory results--in respectively 58% and 42.9% cases, insignificant results--in 25.6% and 50% cases. Along with the favourable therapeutic effect, a positive influence of laser therapy on the immune system was established, particularly on the immunity T-system, in dust bronchitis cases. Laser therapy was recommended as part of complex treatment procedures for dust bronchitis patients.

RESUMO

Results of endobronchial treatment of experimental purulent endobronchitis (PE) in dogs with low intensity He-Ne laser are presented. The endobronchial use of the laser energy in treatment of PE was shown expedient and valid. Comparison of the visual endoscopic picture with the findings of the histochemical and electron microscopic examination of the bronchial mucosa bioptates in the time course of the treatment provided establishment of the optimal regimen for the treatment of nonspecific PE with He-Ne laser.
