RESUMO

Linezolid (LZD) is an effective drug in treating multidrug-resistant tuberculosis and extensively drug-resistant tuberculosis. This study aimed to evaluate the safety of LZD in the treatment of patients with rifampicin resistant tuberculosis. This was a multicenter retrospective study. A total of 184 patients of the rifampicin resistant tuberculosis patients treated with LZD from Jan 2018 to Apr 2020 in three hospitals were involved, and their clinical symptoms were recorded and analyzed. Meanwhile, the types and incidence of adverse effects associated with LZD were evaluated. It showed that peripheral neuritis (51, 27.7%) and hemochromatosis (42, 22.8%) were the most common adverse effects observed among these patients. The median time of symptoms after LZD treatment was 45.5 and 120.0 days, respectively. Furthermore, female patients had a significantly higher risk for leukopenia (P = 0.002) and hemochromatosis (P = 0.033) when compared with male patients. History of underlying disease was the risk factor for thrombocytopenia (P = 0.022). Patients with long duration of medication (RR = 1.004, 95%CI: 1.002-1.006, P < 0.001) and daily dosage ≥600mg (RR = 3.059, 95%CI: 1.238-7.558, P = 0.015) were at higher risk of hemochromatosis. Age was the risk factor for rash (P = 0.008) and nausea and vomiting (P = 0.018). In addition, LZD administration time was the risk factor for optic neuritis (P < 0.001) and peripheral neuritis (P < 0.001). LZD can cause adverse symptoms in patients with rifampicin resistant tuberculosis. Gender, history of underlying disease, LZD use time, LZD dosage, and age are the risk factors in the LZD treatment of these patients. During medication, bone marrow suppression and neuropathy should be closely monitored. This study could potentially provide useful information for the clinical practice.

We have previously reported that phytochemicals from Abies holophylla exhibit anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects by decreasing nitrite production and increasing nerve growth factor production. However, the exact mechanism underscoring these effects has not been revealed. In the present study, we aimed to explore the underlying anti-inflammatory mechanisms of A. holophylla and its phytochemicals. We studied various solvent fractions of A. holophylla and found the chloroform and hexane sub-fractions showed the most significant anti-neuroinflammatory effects in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-activated murine microglia. Concomitantly, the terpenoids isolated from chloroform and hexane fractions showed similar anti-neuroinflammatory effects with significant inhibition of NO and reactive oxygen species production, and decreased protein expression of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and cyclooxygenase. Interestingly, these terpenoids inhibited the phosphorylation of c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), which further inhibited the production of pro-inflammatory mediators, including prostaglandin E2, tumor necrosis factor, and interleukins (IL-6 and IL-1ß), with a potency greater than that of the well-known iNOS inhibitor NG-mono-methyl-L-arginine (L-NMMA). These results suggest that the chloroform- and hexane-soluble fraction mediated the mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) inhibition, in particular the JNK pathway, thereby lowering the inflammatory cascades in LPS-activated murine microglia. Thus, our study suggests that the chloroform and hexane fractions of A. holophylla and their terpenoids may be potential drug candidates for drug discovery against LPS-induced neuroinflammation and neuroinflammatory-related neurodegeneration.

The flower of Hibiscus syriacus Linn is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and health food in China, which has been used to treat dysentery, vaginal discharge, and hemorrhoids. In this study, five polyphenols (compounds 1-5) and five fatty acids (compounds 6-10) were isolated from the ethanol extract of the flower of H. syriacus. The isolated compounds were characterized by spectroscopic techniques. Polyphenols, an important type of natural product, have variety of biological activities. Here, we employed LPS or H2O2-treated SH-SY5Y cell models to test the neuroprotective effect of compounds 1-10. Results found compounds 1-5 (concentration range was around 20 µM on LPS model, concentration range was around 13 µM on H2O2 model), not compounds 6-10, exhibited neuroprotective effect in LPS or H2O2-treated SH-SY5Y cell. PCR analysis showed that compounds 1-5 can effectively improve the mRNA expression of synapse-related gene and neurotrophic factors (Syp, NGF and BDNF) in LPS-treated SH-SY5Y cell. In addition, compounds 1-5 decreased the levels of ROS and MDA and increased the activities of SOD, GSH-Px and CAT in LPS-treated SH-SY5Y cell. Furthermore, compounds 1-5 inhibited neuroinflammation (TNF-α, IL-1ß and IL-6) in LPS-treated SH-SY5Y cell. In conclusion, the polyphenols in the flower of H. syriacus could be a promising candidate for preventive effect of neuroinflammation.

OBJECTIVE: Immunotherapy revolutionized melanoma treatment; however, immune-related adverse events, especially neurotoxicity, may be severe and require early and correct diagnosis as well as early treatment commencement. METHODS: We report an unusual severe multiorgan manifestation of neurotoxicity after treatment with the anti-PDL1 immune checkpoint inhibitor, nivolumab, and the anticytotoxic T-lymphocyte-associated antigen 4 immune checkpoint inhibitor, ipilimumab, in a 47-year-old male patient with metastatic melanoma. RESULTS: The patient developed immune-mediated synovitis and cranial neuritis, followed by longitudinal transverse myelitis, encephalitis, and optic neuritis. Early treatment with high-dose steroids and maintenance therapy with rituximab resulted in a favorable neurologic outcome. CONCLUSIONS: The frequency of spinal cord involvement and neuronal toxicity after cancer immunotherapy is very low and requires an extensive diagnostic workup to differentiate between disease progression and side effects. Immune checkpoint inhibitors should be discontinued and treatment with corticosteroids should be initiated early as the drug of first choice. Therapy may be escalated by other immune-modulating treatments, such as rituximab.

BACKGROUND: Yokukansan is a traditional Japanese herbal medicine that has an antiallodynic effect in patients with chronic pain. However, the mechanisms by which yokukansan inhibits neuropathic pain are unclear. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to investigate the molecular effects of yokukansan on neuroinflammation in U373 MG glioblastoma astrocytoma cells, which express a functional high-affinity neurokinin 1 receptor (substance P receptor), and produce interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 in response to stimulation by substance P (SP). METHODS: We assessed the effect of yokukansan on the expression of ERK1/2, P38 MAPK, nuclear factor (NF)-κB, and cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in U373 cells by western blot assay. Levels of IL-6 and IL-8 in conditioned medium obtained after stimulation of cells with SP for 24 h were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. All experiments were conducted in triplicate. Results were analyzed by one-way ANOVA, and significance was accepted at p < 0.05. RESULTS: Yokukansan suppressed SP-induced production of IL-6 and IL-8 by U373 MG cells, and downregulated SP-induced COX-2 expression. Yokukansan also inhibited phosphorylation of ERK1/2 and p38 MAPK, as well as nuclear translocation of NF-κB, induced by SP stimulation of U373 MG cells. CONCLUSION: Yokukansan exhibits anti-inflammatory activity by suppressing SP-induced production of IL-6 and IL-8 and downregulating COX-2 expression in U373 MG cells, possibly via inhibition of the activation of signaling molecules, such as ERK1/2, p38 MAPK, and NF-κB.

Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of neurodevelopmental disorders with an incidence four times higher in boys than in girls. By analyzing the effect of sex in a mouse model of ASD, we were able to identify immune alterations that could underlie this sex bias. Pregnant mice were injected subcutaneously with 600 mg/kg of valproic acid (VPA) or saline at gestational day 12.5. Their male and female offspring were evaluated in a social interaction test at adulthood, and only male VPA mice showed reduced sociability levels and a lack of preference for the social stimulus over a novel object. We then analyzed the corticosterone (CORT) response to an inflammatory stimulus, as a measure of the hypothalamus-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) function, and the neuroinflammatory state in adult and young animals. Adult VPA males exhibited increased basal CORT levels, while VPA females showed levels comparable to controls. As male mice showed a blunted CORT response at PD21 when compared to female mice, we propose that this early dimorphism could explain the different effects of VPA on HPA function. In addition, prenatal VPA exposure resulted in altered astroglial and microglial cell density levels in the cerebellum and dentate gyrus of adult mice. These neuroinflammatory effects were more pronounced in females than males, and appeared at early developmental stages. Hence, these postnatal glial density differences could underlie the behavioral alterations observed in adulthood, when only males show a social deficit. Our work contributes to the understanding of biological mechanisms affected by VPA on male and female rodents and shed light on the study of possible resilience mechanisms in the female population and/or susceptibility to ASD in boys.

Glial activation and neuroinflammation play significant roles in apoptosis as well as in the development of cognitive and memory deficits. Neuroinflammation is also a critical feature in the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer and Parkinson's diseases. Previously, hesperetin has been shown to be an effective antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. In the present study, in vivo and in vitro analyses were performed to evaluate the neuroprotective effects of hesperetin in lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, neuronal apoptosis and memory impairments. Based on our findings, LPS treatment resulted in microglial activation and astrocytosis and elevated the expression of inflammatory mediators such as phosphorylated-Nuclear factor-κB (p-NF-κB), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), and interleukin-1ß (IL-1ß) in the cortical and hippocampal regions and in BV2 cells. However, hesperetin cotreatment markedly reduced the expression of inflammatory cytokines by ameliorating Toll-like receptor-4 (TLR4)-mediated ionized calcium-binding adapter molecule 1/glial fibrillary acidic protein (Iba-1/GFAP) expression. Similarly, hesperetin attenuated LPS-induced generation of reactive oxygen species/lipid per oxidation (ROS/LPO) and improved the antioxidant protein level such as nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) and Haem-oxygenase (HO-1) in the mouse brain. Additionally, hesperetin ameliorated cytotoxicity and ROS/LPO induced by LPS in HT-22 cells. Moreover, hesperetin rescued LPS-induced neuronal apoptosis by reducing the expression of phosphorylated-c-Jun N-terminal kinases (p-JNK), B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2)-associated X protein (Bax), and Caspase-3 protein and promoting the Bcl-2 protein level. Furthermore, hesperetin enhanced synaptic integrity, cognition, and memory processes by enhancing the phosphorylated-cAMP response element binding protein (p-CREB), postsynaptic density protein-95 (PSD-95), and Syntaxin. Overall, our preclinical study suggests that hesperetin conferred neuroprotection by regulating the TLR4/NF-κB signaling pathway against the detrimental effects of LPS.

Isoniazid (INH)-induced peripheral neuritis is not uncommonly reported in adults, especially those with malnutrition and alcoholism, but it is very rare in children. INH leads to peripheral neuritis by causing a deficiency in the serum level of pyridoxine which depends on the dose of INH, duration of treatment and the patient's nutritional and acetylator status. A 12-year-old girl developed tingling and numbness of the lower limbs after commencing anti-tuberculous therapy which included INH 10 mg/kg/day. The symptoms continued despite the dose being reduced to 5 mg/kg/day. Nerve conduction velocity was normal. Her diet was poor: she consumed little or no fruit and vegetables and ate mostly dal and rice. Discontinuation of INH was advised and her therapy was changed to ofloxacin, rifampicin, ethambutol and pyrazinamide along with a high dose of pyridoxine and multi-vitamins. The tingling and numbness subsided within 15 days, after which INH was prescribed at the dose of 10 mg/kg/day. Although INH-induced neuropathy is rare in children, the World Health Organization recommends pyridoxine prophylaxis for children on INH who are malnourished or have HIV infection.

BACKGROUND: α1,6-Fucosyltransferase-deficient (Fut8-/-) mice displayed increased locomotion and schizophrenia-like behaviors. Since neuroinflammation is a common pathological change in most brain diseases, this study was focused on investigating the effects of Fut8 in microglia and astrocytes. METHODS: Brain tissues were analyzed using immunohistochemical staining. Core fucosylation and protein expression were analyzed using lectin blot and western blot, respectively. Fut8-knockout (KO) cells were established by the CRISPR/Cas9 system. RESULTS: The number of Iba-1 positive cells and GFAP positive cells were significantly increased in both untreated and lipopolysaccharide stimulated inflammatory conditional Fut8-/- mice by comparison with both wild-type (Fut8+/+) and hetero (Fut8+/-) mice. Stimulation with pro-inflammatory factors, such as IFN-γ and IL-6, induced expression levels of fucosylation in primary microglia and astrocytes, as well as in glial cell lines. Cell motility and iNOS expression were easily induced by IFN-γ in Fut8-KO BV-2 cells compared with wild-type (WT) cells. In a similar manner, both Fut8-KO C6 cells and primary astrocytes treated with 2-fluoro-L-fucose, a specific inhibitor for fucosylation, showed a higher response to IL-6-stimulated phospho-STAT3 signaling, compared with WT cells. CONCLUSIONS: Core fucosylation negatively regulates the states of neuroinflammation by modulating the sensitivity of microglia and astrocytes to inflammatory mediators. The disorders of Fut8-/- mice are caused not only by neurons but also by glial cell dysfunction. GENERAL SIGNIFICANCE: Core fucose is a novel regulator for neuroinflammation in the central nervous system.

Bifenthrin (BF) is a synthetic pyrethroid pesticide widely used in several countries to manage insect pests on diverse agricultural crops. Growing evidence indicates that BF exposure is associated with an increased risk of developing neurodegenerative disorders. However, the mechanisms by which BF induces neurological and anxiety alterations in the frontal cortex and striatum are not well known. The present in vivo study was carried out to determine whether reactive oxygen species (ROS)-mediated oxidative stress (OS) and neuroinflammation are involved in such alterations. Thirty-six Wistar rats were thus randomly divided into three groups and were orally administered with BF (0.6 and 2.1 mg/kg body weight, respectively) or the vehicle (corn oil), on a daily basis for 60 days. Results revealed that BF exposure in rats enhanced anxiety-like behavior after 60 days of treatment, as assessed with the elevated plus-maze test by decreases in the percentage of time spent in open arms and frequency of entries into these arms. BF-treated rats also exhibited increased oxidation of lipids and carbonylated proteins in the frontal cortex and striatum, and decreased glutathione levels and antioxidant enzyme activities including superoxide dismutase, catalase and glutathione peroxidase. Treatment with BF also increased protein synthesis and mRNA expression of the inflammatory mediators cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), microsomal prostaglandin synthase-1 (mPGES-1) and nuclear factor-kappaBp65 (NF-kBp65), as well as the production of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α) and ROS. Moreover, BF exposure significantly decreased protein synthesis and mRNA expression of nuclear factor erythroid-2 (Nrf2) and acetylcholinesterase (AChE), as well as gene expression of muscarinic-cholinergic receptors (mAchR) and choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) in the frontal cortex and striatum. These data suggest that BF induced neurological alterations in the frontal cortex and striatum of rats, and that this may be associated with neuroinflammation and oxidative stress via the activation of Nrf2/NF-kBp65 pathways, which might promote anxiety-like behavior.

Abstract The present study was designed to test the hypothesis that high dose dexmedetomidine would increase the duration of antinociception to a thermal stimulus in a rat model of sciatic nerve blockade without causing nerve damage. The rats were anesthetized with isoflurane. After electromyography (EMG) recordings, right sciatic nerves were explored and perineural injections were delivered: Group D (n = 7), 40 µg µg kg-1 dexmedetomidine administration, Group II (n = 6), (0.2 mL) saline administration, Group III (n = 2), only surgically exploration of the right sciatic nevre. Time to paw withdrawal latency (PAW) to a thermal stimulus for both paws and an assessment of motor function were measured every 30 min after the nerve block until a return to baseline. The compound muscle action potential (CMAP) of right and left sciatic nerves were recorded 10 times per each nerve once more after perineural injections at 14 day. After EMG recordings, right and the part of left sciatic nerve were excised at a length of at minimum 15 mm for histopathological examination. Comparison of right/left CMAP amplitude ratios before and 14 days after the procedure showed a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000). There were no differences in perineural inflammation between the Group D, Group S, and Group E at 14 days.


Resumo O presente estudo foi desenvolvido para testar a hipótese de que dexmedetomidina em dose alta aumentaria a duração da antinocicepção a um estímulo térmico em modelo de rato de bloqueio do nervo ciático sem causar danos ao nervo. Os ratos foram anestesiados com isoflurano. Após os registros da eletromiografia (EMG), os nervos ciáticos direitos foram explorados e injeções perineurais foram administradas: Grupo D (n = 7) recebeu 40 µg/kg-1 de dexmedetomidina, Grupo II (n = 6) recebeu 0,2 mL de solução salina, Grupo III (n = 2) recebeu apenas exploração cirúrgica do nervo ciático direito. O tempo de latência de retirada da pata (LRP) a um estímulo térmico para ambas as patas e uma avaliação da função motora foram avaliados a cada 30 minutos após o bloqueio do nervo até o retorno à fase basal. O potencial de ação muscular composto (PAMC) dos nervos ciático direito e esquerdo foi registrado 10 vezes para cada nervo, mais uma vez, após as injeções perineurais no 14º dia. Após os registros da EMG, o nervo ciático direito e parte do esquerdo foram excisados com um comprimento de no mínimo 15 mm para exame histopatológico. A comparação das proporções da amplitude do PAMC direito/esquerdo antes e 14 dias após o procedimento mostrou uma diferença estatisticamente significativa (p = 0,000). Não houve diferenças em inflamação perineural entre os grupos D, S e E aos 14 dias.

BACKGROUND: The use of isoflurane sedation for prolonged periods in the critical care environment is increasing. However, isoflurane-mediated neurotoxicity has been widely reported. The goal of the present study was to determine whether long-term exposure to low-dose isoflurane in mechanically ventilated rodents is associated with evidence of neurodegeneration or neuroinflammation. METHODS: Adult female Sprague-Dawley rats were used in this study. Experimental animals (n=11) were induced with 1.5% isoflurane, intubated, and given a neuromuscular blockade with α-cobratoxin. EEG electrodes were surgically implanted, subcutaneous precordial EKG Ag wire electrodes, and bladder, femoral artery, and femoral vein cannulas permanently placed. After these procedures, the isoflurane concentration was reduced to 0.5% and, in conjunction with the neuromuscular blockade, continued for 7 days. Arterial blood gases and chemistry were measured at 3 time points and core body temperature servoregulated and maintenance IV fluids were given during the 7 days. Experimental animals and untreated controls (n=9) were euthanized on day 7. RESULTS: Immunohistochemical and cytochemical assays did not detect evidence of microgliosis, astrocytosis, neuronal apoptosis or necrosis, amyloidosis, or phosphorylated-tau accumulation. Blood glucose levels were significantly reduced on days 3/4 and 6/7 and partial pressure of oxygen was significantly reduced, but still within the normal range, on day 6/7. All other blood measurements were unchanged. CONCLUSIONS: No neuropathologic changes consistent with neurotoxicity were detected in the brain after 1 week of continuous exposure to 0.5% isoflurane in healthy rats. These data suggest that even long exposures to low concentrations of isoflurane have no overt consequences on neuropathology.

BACKGROUND: Iron is an essential but potentially toxic metal in mammals. Here we investigated a pathogenic role of exogenous iron in peripheral diabetic neuropathy (PDN) in an animal model for type 1 diabetes. METHODS: Diabetes was induced by a single injection of streptozotocin (STZ) in 4-month-old Sprague-Dawley rats. STZ-diabetic rats and non-diabetic rats were fed with high, standard, or low iron diet. After three months of feeding, animals were tested. RESULTS: STZ-rats on standard iron diet showed overt diabetes, slowed motor nerve conduction, marked degeneration of distal intraepidermal nerve fibers, mild intraneural infiltration with macrophages and T-cells in the sciatic nerve, and increased iron levels in serum and dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons. While motor fibers were afflicted in all STZ-groups, only a low iron-diet led also to reduced sensory conduction velocities in the sciatic nerve. In addition, only STZ-rats on a low iron diet showed damaged mitochondria in numerous DRG neurons, a more profound intraepidermal nerve fiber degeneration indicating small fiber neuropathy, and even more inflammatory cells in sciatic nerves than seen in any other experimental group. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that dietary iron-deficiency rather than iron overload, and mild inflammation may both promote neuropathy in STZ-induced experimental PDN.

Insulin neuritis is a historical term for an acute neuropathy affecting patients with diabetes who achieve rapid re-establishment of previously poor glycaemic control. It presents with neuropathic pain, symptoms of autonomic dysfunction or a combination of both. Recently, it has been proposed that 'treatment-induced neuropathy of diabetes' would be a more accurate name for this entity. The management focuses on controlling the symptoms while they gradually improve with time.

OBJECTIVE: Sesamin is known for its role in antioxidant, antiproliferative, antihypertensive, and neuroprotective activities. However, little is known about the role of sesamin in the development of emotional disorders. Here we investigated persistent inflammatory pain hypersensitivity and anxiety-like behaviors in the mouse suffering chronic pain. METHODS: Chronic inflammatory pain was induced by hind paw injection of complete Freund's adjuvant (CFA). Levels of protein were detected by Western blot. RESULTS: Administration of sesamin could induce anxiolytic activities but had no effect on analgesia. In the basolateral amygdala, a structure involving the anxiety development, sesamin attenuated the up-regulation of NR2B-containing N-methyl-d-aspartate receptors, GluR1 subunit of the alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid receptor as well as phosphorylation of GluR1 at Ser831 (p-GluR1-Ser831), and Ca(2+)/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase II (CaMKII-alpha) in the hind paw CFA-injected mice. In the same model, we found that the sesamin blocked the down-regulation of gamma-aminobutyric acid A (GABAA-alpha-2) receptors. CONCLUSION: Our findings show that sesamin reduces anxiety-like behaviors induced by chronic pain at least partially through regulating the GABAergic and glutamatergic transmission in the amygdala of mice.

The study was designed to examine the effects of silver AgNPs, 20 nm) and titanium dioxide (Aeroxide(®) P25 TiO2NPs, 21 nm) nanoparticles on brain oxidative stress parameters, its antioxidant potential and brain renin-angiotensin system (RAS) in vivo. The analysis was performed 28 days after single dose injection of TiO2NPs and AgNPs (10 or 5 mg/kg body weight, respectively). The AgNPs, but not TiO2NPs, administration resulted in decreased lipid and cholesterol peroxidation. Antioxidant enzymes gene expression and/or activity were changed differently for TiO2NPs and AgNPs group. The TiO2NPs decreased aromatase gene expression, and glutathione peroxidase and reductase activities. In AgNPs group the sodium dismutase 1 and glutathione reductase mRNA levels were decreased as opposed to their activities. Both NPs altered the expression of brain RAS genes (angiotensinogen, renin, angiotensin I converting enzyme 1 and 2), but only TiO2NPs caused similar changes on protein level. The expression of amyloid beta precursor protein gene was not altered by any kind of injected NPs. The TiO2NPs were more potent modulator of gene expression in the brain than AgNPs, despite the two times lower dosage. These results suggest that AgNPs and TiO2NPs exposure may modulate the brain function, but with different strength.

Homer, also designated Vesl, is one member of the newly found postsynaptic density scaffold proteins, playing a vital role in maintaining synaptic integrity, regulating intracellular calcium mobilization, and being critical for the regulation of cellular apoptosis. However, its function in the inflamed central nervous system (CNS) is not fully elucidated. Here, we investigated the role of Homer1b/c, a long form of Homer1, in lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced neuroinflammation in CNS. Western blot analysis indicated that LPS administration significantly increased the expression of Homer1b/c in rat brain. Moreover, double immunofluorescent staining suggested Homer1b/c was mainly distributed in the cytoplasm of neurons and had a close association with cleaved caspase-3 level in neurons in rat brain after LPS injection. In vitro studies indicated that up-regulation of Homer1b/c might be related to the subsequent apoptosis in neurons treated by conditioned media (CM), collected from LPS-stimulated mixed glial cultures (MGC). We also found down-regulation of Homer1b/c partly blocked the increase of cleaved caspase-3 and the proportion of Bax/Bcl-2 in neurons induced by MGC-CM. Taken together, these findings suggested that Homer1b/c might promote neuronal apoptosis via the Bax/Bcl-2 dependent pathway during neuroinflammation in CNS, and inhibiting Homer1b/c expression might provide a novel neuroprotective strategy against the inflammation-related neuronal apoptosis.
