RESUMO

Etomidate (ET), a hypnotic agent used for the induction of anesthesia, is rapidly metabolized to etomidate acid (ETA) in the liver. Recently, ET has become one of the most serious alternative drugs of abuse in China. Therefore, an urgent need exists to develop a fast and convenient analysis method for monitoring ET. The current work presents a simple, fast, and sensitive direct injection method for the determination of ET and ETA in wastewater. After the optimization of the ultra-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry and sample filtration conditions, the method exhibited satisfactory limits of detection (1 ng/L) and good filtration loss. The validated method was successfully applied to determine the concentrations of ET and ETA in wastewater samples (n = 245) from several wastewater treatment plants in China. The concentrations of the targets in positive samples ranged from less than the lower limits of quantitation to 47.71 ng/L. The method can meet ET monitoring and high-throughput analysis requirements.

Health authorities are particularly concerned about water security in Enugu, southeast Nigeria and heavy metal (HM) pollution. The HM profiles of 51 samples collected from 17 different commercial bottled water brands in Enugu were examined using an flame atomic absorption spectroscopy. Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Ni, and Zn had mean values of 0.15 ± 0.03, 0.03 ± 0.02, 0.16 ± 0.03, 0.13 ± 0.02, and 0.02 ± 0.01 mg/L, respectively. The highest levels of Pb2+ were 0.27 mg/L in Exalté, Ni2+ 0.26 mg/L in Jasmine, Cd2+ 0.36 mg/L in Ezbon, Cr3+ 0.07 mg/L in Trinity, Cu2+ 0.04 mg/L in Bigi, and Zn2+ 0.02 mg/L in Aquarapha. The amounts of Cr, Cu, and Zn were below the allowable limits; nevertheless, the Pb content in eight bottled water samples exceeded both the Nigerian and World Health Organization (WHO)/U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) permissible limits. The Cd2+ and Ni2+ levels in the 11th and 4th bottled water samples were above the WHO/USEPA-approved limits. Statistical evaluation revealed significant differences in the amounts of HM ions in the samples (p < 0.05). The findings indicated that concentration levels of Cd2+ Ni2+, and Pb2+ pose a public health concern that needs to be addressed due to potential risk to consumer health.

The treatment of wastewater is highly challenging due to large fluctuations in flowrates, pollutants, and variable influent water compositions. A sequencing batch reactor (SBR) and modified SBR cycle-step-feed process (SSBR) configuration are studied in this work to effectively treat municipal wastewater while simultaneously removing nitrogen and phosphorus. To control the amount of dissolved oxygen in an SBR, three axiomatic control strategies (proportional integral (PI), fractional proportional integral (FPI), and fuzzy logic controllers) are presented. Relevant control algorithms have been designed using plant data with the models of SBR and SSBR based on ASM2d framework. On comparison, FPI showed a significant reduction in nutrient levels and added an improvement in effluent quality. The overall effluent quality is improved by 0.86% in FPI in comparison with PI controller. The SSBR, which was improved by precisely optimizing nutrient supply and aeration, establishes a delicate equilibrium. This refined method reduces oxygen requirements while reliably sustaining important biological functions. Focusing solely on the FPI controller's performance in terms of total air volume consumption, the step-feed SBR mechanism achieves an excellent 11.04% reduction in consumption.

The present research work investigates the impact of natural and anthropogenic inputs on the chemistry and quality of the groundwater in the Beenaganj-Chachura block of Madhya Pradesh, India. A total of 50 groundwater samples were examined for nitrates, fluoride, chlorides, total dissolved solids, calcium, magnesium, pH, total hardness, and conductivity, and their impact on entropy-weighted water quality index and pollution index of groundwater (PIG) was investigated via the response surface methodology (RSM) using the central composite design. According to analytical findings, Ca, Mg, Cl-, SO42-, and NO3- exceed the desired limit and permitted limit set by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the World Health Organization (WHO). According to PIG findings, 76, 16, and 8% of groundwater samples, respectively, fell into the insignificant, low, and moderate pollution categories. The regression coefficients of the quadratic RSM models for the experimental data provided excellent results. Thus, RSM provides an excellent means to obtain the optimized values of input parameters to minimize the PIG values.

This article employs bibliometric tools like VOSviewer, Bibliometrix, and CiteSpace for a comprehensive visual analysis of 1,612 documents on Emerging Contaminants in Waters from the Web of Science database. The objective is to elucidate the historical development, research hotspots, and trends in international studies of this field, offering valuable insights and guidance for future research directions. The analysis reveals a consistent increase in publications from 2003 to 2023, with the United States, China, and Spain being the most prolific contributors. A detailed examination of keyword co-occurrence and cluster analysis shows a predominant focus on themes such as pollutant detection, risk assessment, and biogeochemical cycling. Furthermore, the study underscores the significance of forming interdisciplinary networks among authors and institutions, highlighting its critical role in enhancing the quality and innovation of scientific research. The findings of this study not only chart the progression and focal points of research in this domain but also underscore the pivotal role of international collaboration, serving as an indispensable reference for shaping future research trajectories and fostering global cooperation.

The growing production of urban solid waste is a structural problem faced by most cities around the world. The proliferation of mini-open dumps (MOD; small spontaneous open-air waste dumps formed in urban and peri-urban areas) on the banks of the Paraná River is particularly evident. During the historical drought (June-December 2021), we carried out sampling campaigns identifying MODs of the Santa Fe River, a secondary channel of the Paraná River. MOD were geolocated, measured, described and classified by origin. The distance to the river and other sensitive places was considered (houses-schools-health facilities). Our results suggested a serious environmental issue associated with poor waste management. MOD were extremely abundant in the study area, being mostly composed of domestic litter. Plastics clearly dominated the MOD composition. Burning was frequently observed as a method to reduce the volume of MOD. We concluded that the proliferation of MOD is a multi-causal problem associated with a failure of public policies and a lack of environmental education.

Mercury contamination has been aggravated by emerging environmental issues, such as climate change. Top predators present concerning Hg concentrations once this metal bioaccumulates and biomagnifies. This study evaluated total mercury (THg) concentrations in tissues of 43 franciscanas (Pontoporia blainvillei) from two populations: the Franciscana Management Area (FMA) IIb and FMA IIIa. Animals from FMA IIIa showed mean concentration 5-times and 2.5-times higher in the liver and kidney (4.73 ± 6.84 and 0.52 ± 0.51 µg.g-1, w.w., respectively) than individuals from FMA IIb (0.89 ± 1.04 and 0.22 ± 0.15 µg.g-1, w.w., respectively). This might be due to: (I) individuals sampled from FMA IIIa being larger and older, and/or (II) the area near FMA IIIa presents environmental features leading to higher THg availability. Coastal contamination can affect franciscanas' health and population maintenance at different levels depending on their life history and, therefore, it should be considered to guide specific conservation actions.

Water bodies play a crucial role in supporting life, maintaining the environment, and preserving the ecology for the people of India. However, in recent decades, human activities have led to various alterations in aquatic environments, resulting in environmental degradation through pollution. The safety of utilizing surface water sources for drinking and other purposes has come under intense scrutiny due to rapid population growth and industrial expansion. Surface water pollution due to micro-plastics (MPs) (plastics < 5 mm in size) is one of the emerging pollutants in metropolitan cities of developing countries because of its utmost resilience and synthetic nature. Recent studies on the surface water bodies (river, pond, Lake etc.) portrait the correlation between the MPs level with different parameters of pollution such as specific conductivity, total phosphate, and biological oxygen demand. Fibers represent the predominant form of MPs discovered in surface water bodies, exhibiting fluctuations across seasons. Consequently, present study prioritizes understanding the adaptation, prevalence, attributes, fluctuations, and spatial dispersion of MPs in both sediment and surface water environments. Furthermore, the study aims to identify existing gaps in the current understanding and underscore opportunities for future investigation. From the present study, it has been reported that, the concentration of MPs in the range of 0.2-45.2 items/L at the Xisha Islands in the south China sea, whereas in India it was found in the range of 96 items/L in water samples and 259 items/kg in sediment samples. This would certainly assist the urban planners in achieving sustainable development goals to mitigate the increasing amount of emergent pollutant load.

The aim of the study was to determine the content and leachability of Sr in ashes obtained through combusting municipal waste in household furnaces. The waste had been collected as a mixed stream and as separate fractions (i.e. furniture, sponges, waste paper, PCV packaging, plastic-coated paper cartons, imitation leather, rubber, textiles and polystyrene). Using single-step chemical extractions, (HCl + HNO3, H2O, 0.01 M CaCl2, 0.1 M CH3COOH), we determined the total content of Sr (TC) and proportions of the following fractions: water-leachable, phytoavailable and easily soluble and bound to carbonates. We also analyzed the effect of reducing pH in the extraction solutions on St leachability from the study material. The study showed that Sr concentration in ash generated from the combustion of conventional fuels, alternative fuels and municipal waste ranged from 114 to 1006 mg/kg. The largest amounts of Sr were found in ash generated from the combustion of alternative fuels (coal pellets 488-1006 mg/kg), conventional fuels (hard coal 430-670 mg/kg) and mixed waste (237-825 mg/kg). The most mobile fraction of Sr (water-leachable) comprised from 1.3% to nearly 91% TC; the phytoavailable fraction and the ion-exchange and carbonate-bound fraction comprised 3-92% TC and 9-72% TC, respectively. We also found that the greatest pH reductions do not always entail the greatest amounts of extracted Sr. A much more significant factor in this respect is the mineral and chemical composition of primary materials, which can buffer changes in pH. The Risk Assessment Code (RAC) values pointed to a varied environmental risk and the highest RAC values (> 70) were found for coal pellets, wood pellets, straw, rubber and plastic containers for mixed oils.

This study presents the first data on REY (Rare Earth Elements plus Yttrium) in the aquifer of Mount Etna (Sicily, Italy). Patterns normalized to chondrites indicate strong water-rock interaction, facilitated by a slightly acidic pH resulting from the dissolution of magma-derived CO2. REY patterns provide insights into the processes of both mineral dissolution and the formation of secondary phases. The relative abundance of light to heavy rare earth elements is compatible with the prevailing dissolution of ferromagnesian minerals (e.g., olivine or clinopyroxenes), reinforced by its strong correlation with other proxies of mineral dissolution (e.g., Mg contents). Pronounced negative Ce anomalies and positive Y anomalies demonstrate an oxidizing environment with continuous formation of secondary iron and/or manganese oxides and hydroxides. The Y/Ho fractionation is strongly influenced by metal complexation with bicarbonate complexes, a common process in C-rich waters. In the studied system, the measured REY contents are always below the limits proposed by Sneller et al. (2000, RIVM report, Issue 601,501, p. 66) for surface water and ensure a very low daily intake from drinking water.

Rudrasagar Lake, a vital habitat for diverse flora and fauna, supports over 2000 households to sustain their daily livelihoods. The current study attempts to examine the impact of human activities on spatio-temporal variation in the water quality of the study area. The study integrates extensive field surveys, sample processing, and statistical analysis to assess the recent status of wetland health. Latin Square Matrix (LSM) was employed to select the sampling sites while the Inverse Distance Weighting (IDW) interpolation technique was used for spatial variation mapping. Modified Weighted Arithmetic Water Quality Index (MWAWQI) and Comprehensive Pollution Index (CPI) were utilized for assessing seasonal variation water quality and pollution loads, respectively. The results showed that dissolved oxygen (DO) was strongly influenced by the tributaries, and recreational activities have substantially influenced the highest concentrations of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), and total suspended solids (TSS). The central portion of the lake is particularly susceptible to pollution from extensive fishing and recreational activities while peripheral sites are strongly influenced by agricultural run-offs, seepages from brick industries, and municipal wastes characterized by high concentrations of pH, total hardness (TH), oxidation-reduction potential (ORP). The findings reveal remarkable spatio-temporal fluctuations and highlight the areas within the lake susceptible to anthropogenic activities. The study proposed a sustainable management model to ameliorate anthropogenic threats. Moreover, the study contributes to the scientific understanding of the challenges and ensures the long-term viability of wetland health as a vital ecological and socio-economic resource.

BACKGROUND: The widespread use and abuse of antibiotics has resulted in the pollution of water sources with antibiotic residues, posing a threat to human health, the environment, and the economy. Therefore, a highly sensitive and selective method is required for their detection in water samples. Herein, advanced ultrasensitive electrochemical sensor platform was developed by integrating gold-silver alloy nanocoral clusters (Au-Ag-ANCCs) with functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotube-carbon paste electrode (f-MWCNT-CPE) and choline chloride (ChCl) nanocomposites for simultaneously determining the residues of antimicrobial drugs, rifampicin (RAMP) and norfloxacin (NFX), in water samples. RESULTS: The developed sensor (Au-Ag-ANCCs/f-MWCNTs-CPE/ChCl) was extensively characterized using several analytical (UV-Vis, FT-IR, XRD, SEM, and EDX) and electrochemical (EIS, CV, and SWV) techniques. It exhibited outstanding performance in a wide linear range, from 14 pM to 115 µM for RAMP, and from 0.9 nM to 200 µM for NFX, with a limit of detection (LOD, 3σ/m, S/N = 3, n = 5) and a limit of quantification (LOQ, 10σ/m, S/N = 3, n = 5) values of 2.7 pM and 8.85 pM for RAMP, and 0.14 nM and 0.47 nM for NFX, respectively. The sensor also exhibited exceptional reproducibility, stability, and resistance to interference. SIGNIFICANCE: The developed sensor was effectively utilized to determine RAMP and NFX residues in hospital wastewater, river, and tap water samples, yielding recoveries within the range of 96.8-103 % and relative standard deviations below 5 %. Generally, the proposed sensor demonstrated remarkable performance in detecting the target analytes, making it an ideal tool and the first of its kind for addressing global antibiotic residue pollutants in water sources.

Aristolochic acids (AAs), which are a group of nitrophenanthrene carboxylic acids formed by Aristolochia plant, have become an increasing serious threat to humans due to their nephrotoxicity and carcinogenicity. Fast and accurate approaches capable of simultaneous sensing of aristolochic acids (I-IV) are vital to avoid intake of such compounds. In this research, the novel ratiometric fluorescence zinc metal-organic framework and its nanowire have been prepared. The two different coordination modes (tetrahedral configuration and twisted triangular bipyramidal configuration) within zinc metal-organic framework lead to the significant double emissions. The ratiometric fluorescence approach based on nanowire provides a broader concentration range (3.00 × 10-7~1.00 × 10-4 M) and lower limit of detection (3.70 × 10-8 M) than that based on zinc metal-organic framework (1.00 × 10-6~1.00 × 10-4 M, 5.91 × 10-7 M). The RSDs of the results are in the range 1.4-3.5% (nanowire). The density functional theory calculations and UV-Vis absorption verify that the sensing mechanism is due to charge transfer and energy transfer. Excellent spiked recoveries for AAs(I-IV) in soil and water support that nanowire is competent to simultaneously detect these targets in real samples, and the proposed approach has potential as a fluorescence sensing platform for the simultaneous detection of AAs (I-IV) in complex systems.

Aquatic humic substances (AHS) are defined as an important components of organic matter, being composed as small molecules in a supramolecular structure and can interact with metallic ions, thereby altering the bioavailability of these species. To better understand this behavior, AHS were extracted and characterized from Negro River, located near Manaus city and Carú River, that is situated in Itacoatiara city, an area experiencing increasing anthropogenic actions; both were characterized as blackwater rivers. The AHS were characterized by 13C nuclear magnetic ressonance and thermochemolysis GC-MS to obtain structural characteristics. Interaction studies with Cu (II), Al (III), and Fe (III) were investigated using fluorescence spectroscopy applied to parallel factor analysis (PARAFAC) and two-dimensional correlation spectroscopy with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (2D-COS FTIR). The AHS from dry season had more aromatic fractions not derived from lignin and had higher content of alkyls moities from microbial sources and vegetal tissues of autochthonous origin, while AHS isolated in the rainy season showed more metals in its molecular architecture, lignin units, and polysacharide structures. The study showed that AHS composition from rainy season were able to interact with Al (III), Fe (III), and Cu (II). Two fluorescent components were identified as responsible for interaction: C1 (blue-shifted) and C2 (red-shifted). C1 showed higher complexation capacities but with lower complexation stability constants (KML ranged from 0.3 to 7.9 × 105) than C2 (KML ranged from 3.1 to 10.0 × 105). 2D-COS FTIR showed that the COO- and C-O in phenolic were the most important functional groups for interaction with studied metallic ions.

To assess the concentration characteristics and ecological risks of potential toxic elements (PTEs) in water and sediment, 17 water samples and 17 sediment samples were collected in the Xiyu River to analyze the content of Cr, Ni, As, Cu, Zn, Pb, Cd and Hg, and the environmental risks of PTEs was evaluated by single-factor pollution index, Nemerow comprehensive pollution index, potential ecological risk, and human health risk assessment. The results indicated that Hg in water and Pb, Cu, Cd in sediments exceeded the corresponding environmental quality standards. In the gold mining factories distribution river section (X8-X10), there was a significant increase in PTEs in water and sediments, indicating that the arbitrary discharge of tailings during gold mining flotation is the main cause of PTEs pollution. The increase in PTEs concentration at the end of the Xiyu River may be related to the increased sedimentation rate, caused by the slowing of the riverbed, and the active chemical reactions at the estuary. The single-factor pollution index and Nemerow pollution index indicated that the river water was severely polluted by Hg. Potential ecological risk index indicated that the risk of Hg in sediments was extremely high, the risk of Cd was high, and the risk of Pb and Cu was moderate. The human health risk assessment indicated that As in water at point X10 and Hg in water at point X9 may pose non-carcinogenic risk to children through ingestion, and As at X8-X10 and Cd at X14 may pose carcinogenic risk to adults through ingestion. The average HQingestion value of Pb in sediments was 1.96, indicating that the ingestion of the sediments may poses a non-carcinogenic risk to children, As in the sediments at X8-X10 and X15-X17 may pose non-carcinogenic risk to children through ingestion.

BACKGROUND: Spina bifida, a developmental malformation of the spinal cord, is associated with high rates of mortality and disability. Although folic acid-based preventive strategies have been successful in reducing rates of spina bifida, some areas continue to be at higher risk because of chemical exposures. Bangladesh has high arsenic exposures through contaminated drinking water and high rates of spina bifida. This study examines the relationships between mother's arsenic exposure, folic acid, and spina bifida risk in Bangladesh. METHODS: We conducted a hospital-based case-control study at the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital (NINS&H) in Dhaka, Bangladesh, between December 2016 and December 2022. Cases were infants under age one year with spina bifida and further classified by a neurosurgeon and imaging. Controls were drawn from children seen at NINS&H and nearby Dhaka Shishu Hospital. Mothers reported folic acid use during pregnancy, and we assessed folate status with serum assays. Arsenic exposure was estimated in drinking water using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry (GF-AAS) and in toenails using inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). We used logistic regression to examine the associations between arsenic and spina bifida. We used stratified models to examine the associations between folic acid and spina bifida at different levels of arsenic exposure. RESULTS: We evaluated data from 294 cases of spina bifida and 163 controls. We did not find a main effect of mother's arsenic exposure on spina bifida risk. However, in stratified analyses, folic acid use was associated with lower odds of spina bifida (adjusted odds ratio [OR]: 0.50, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.25-1.00, p = 0.05) among women with toenail arsenic concentrations below the median value of 0.46 µg/g, and no association was seen among mothers with toenail arsenic concentrations higher than 0.46 µg/g (adjusted OR: 1.09, 95% CI: 0.52-2.29, p = 0.82). CONCLUSIONS: Mother's arsenic exposure modified the protective association of folic acid with spina bifida. Increased surveillance and additional preventive strategies, such as folic acid fortification and reduction of arsenic, are needed in areas of high arsenic exposure.

This study introduces an evaluation methodology tailored for bioreactors, with the aim of assessing the stress experienced by algae due to harmful contaminants released from antifouling (AF) paints. We present an online monitoring system equipped with an ultra-sensitive sensor that conducts non-invasive measurements of algal culture's optical density and physiological stage through chlorophyll fluorescence signals. By coupling the ultra-sensitive sensor with flash-induced chlorophyll fluorescence, we examined the dynamic fluorescence changes in the green microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii when exposed to biocides. Over a 24-h observation period, increasing concentrations of biocides led to a decrease in photosynthetic activity. Notably, a substantial reduction in the maximum quantum yield of primary photochemistry (FV/FM) was observed within the first hour of exposure. Subsequently, we detected a partial recovery in FV/FM; however, this recovery remained 50% lower than that of the controls. Integrating the advanced submersible sensor with fluorescence decay kinetics offered a comprehensive perspective on the dynamic alterations in algal cells under the exposure to biocides released from antifouling coatings. The analysis of fluorescence relaxation kinetics revealed a significant shortening of the fast and middle phases,  along with an increase in the duration of the slow phase, for the coating with the highest levels of biocides. Combining automated culturing and measuring methods, this approach has demonstrated its effectiveness as an ultrasensitive and non-invasive tool for monitoring the physiology of photosynthetic cultures. This is particularly valuable in the context of studying microalgae and their early responses to various environmental conditions, as well as the potential to develop an AF system with minimal harm to the environment.

In this work, core-shell material with a special structure was designed and applied in solid-phase extraction (SPE) for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) combined with high-performance liquid chromatography. Based on the advantages of core-shell ZIF-8@ZIF-67 (Zeolite imidazole ester framework materials [ZIFs]), effective derivatization treatment was carried out to partially vulcanize the original ZIFs, resulting in a special and new double-core-shell structural material CoS/ZIF-67/ZnS/ZIF-8 (ZIFs@ZnS@CoS) with porous surface and center hollow. The multiple forces caused by the rich chemical structure, the large specific surface area caused by the special pore structure, and the effective protection of the ZIFs core by sulfide shell make the designed material have higher extraction efficiency and longer service life, compared with ZIF-8@ZIF-67 and ZIF-8. At the same time, the established analytical method for non-steroidal drugs had a high recovery rate (98.93%-102.10%), low detection limit (0.11-0.27 µg/L), and wide linear range (1-200 µg/L) within a good correlation coefficient R2 (0.9978-0.9993). Satisfactory results were also obtained from the extraction of NSAIDs from the Yellow River water samples. These results indicate that the designed double-core-shell structure material can effectively exert its structural advantages and become a promising extraction material.

The combination of silica nanoparticles with fluorescent molecularly imprinted polymers (Si-FMIPs) prepared by a one-pot sol-gel synthesis method to act as chemical sensors for the selective and sensitive determination of captopril is described. Several analytical parameters were optimized, including reagent ratio, solvent, concentration of Si-FMIP solutions, and contact time. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and the ninhydrin assay were used for characterization. The selectivity was evaluated against molecules belonging to other drug classes, such as fluoroquinolones, nonacid nonopioids, benzothiadiazine, alpha amino acids, and nitroimidazoles. Under optimized conditions, the Si-FMIP-based sensor exhibited a working range of 1-15 µM, with a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.7 µM, repeatability of 6.4% (n = 10), and suitable recovery values at three concentration levels (98.5% (1.5 µM), 99.9% (3.5 µM), and 99.2% (7.5 µM)) for wastewater samples. The sensor provided a working range of 0.5-15 µM for synthetic urine samples, with an LOD of 0.4 µM and a repeatability of 7.4% (n = 10) and recovery values of 93.7%, 92.9%, and 98.0% for 1.0 µM, 3.5 µM, and 10 µM, respectively. In conclusion, our single-vessel synthesis approach for Si-FMIPs proved to be highly effective for the selective determination of captopril in wastewater and synthetic urine samples.

Groundwater contamination near landfills is commonly caused by leachate leakage, and permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) are widely used for groundwater remediation. However, the deactivation and blockage of the reactive medium in PRBs limit their long-term effectiveness. In the current study, a new methodology was proposed for the in situ regeneration of PRB to remediate leachate-contaminated groundwater. CO2 coupled with oxidants was applied for the dispersion and regeneration of the fillers; by injecting CO2 to disperse the fillers, the permeability of the PRB was increased and the oxidants could flow evenly into the PRB. The results indicate that the optimum filler proportion was zero-valent iron (ZVI)/zeolites/activated carbon (AC) = 3:8:10 and the optimum oxidant proportion was COD/Na2S2O8/H2O2/Fe2+ = 1:5:6:5; the oxidation system of Fe2+/H2O2/S2O82- has a high oxidation efficiency and persistence. The average regeneration rate of zeolites was 72.71%, and the average regeneration rate of AC was 68.40%; the permeability of PRB also increased. This technology is effective for the remediation of landfills in China that have large contaminated areas, an uneven pollutant concentration distribution, and a long pollution duration. The purification mode of long-term adsorption and short-time in situ oxidation can be applied to the remediation of long-term high-concentration organically polluted groundwater, where pollution sources are difficult to cut off.
