RESUMO

The adhesion of oral microorganisms to the surface of teeth and dental restorative materials is often the starting point in the developments of caries and periodontal disease. Formation of biofilm on the surface provisional acrylic bridge is especially quickly and can potentially generate decay or periodontal disease on the teeth. Occlusion trauma and occlusion disorders effects on increasing of injure regional periodontal tissues. Using ultrasonic doppler diagnostics oral mucosal blood flow was measured in 79 patients with periodontitis of medium severity with different hygiene conditions before and during orthopedic treatment by provisional fixed dentures was model by different methods. According to the results of this study was stated optimization of oral mucosal blood flow after pre-prosthetic treatments and the supportive hygiene periodontal care during the treatment. Results was used for reduce of functional stress in the in periodontal tissues during the orthopedic alignment by the use of fixed dentures. Specific prosthodontic hygiene protocol and model by individual articulator must be used to treat patients with widespread chronic periodontitis by interim prostheses.

RESUMO

The mandibular deformation as a result of jaw movement from rest position has been studied and documented by other authors. Here, we report that there is a possible correlation between this phenomenon and the discomfort experienced by a patient rehabilitated with implant-supported restoration for the mandibular arch during function. The recovery from pain and symptoms was achieved only after splitting the prosthesis into three sections. This case report serves to remind clinicians of the importance of following biological concepts as the key to a successful result.

RESUMO

This review of the fixed prosthodontics and periodontology literature illustrates the influence of various factors on the health of the periodontium during and after fixed prosthodontic treatment. This article describes four categories of marginal finish lines for fixed prosthodontic restorations relative to the gingival margin and the epithelial attachment. The management of each category from both the periodontal and prosthodontic prespectives is also discussed.

RESUMO

Loss of marginal cement seal, initial fracture, and stiffness of three four-unit provisional restorations were tested. Loss of marginal cement seal was monitored using strain gauges located occlusogingivally at the distal of the second molar abutment and the mesial of the first premolar abutment of a four-unit posterior fixed provisional restoration with two pontics. The provisional restorations were then placed in an Instron testing machine and loaded to initial fracture. Stiffness was calculated from the Instron recordings. The provisional designs were permachrome band-reinforced, wire-reinforced, and a nonreinforced control. Analysis showed: (1) the band-reinforced design withstood a significantly greater load before loss of cement seal (P< or =.05); (2) the band-reinforced design had a significantly higher stiffness (P< or =.05); and (3) there was no difference between the three designs for load at initial fracture. Within the same sample it was found that for both band- and wire-reinforced designs the premolar abutment lost the marginal cement seal at a significantly lower load than the molar (P< or =.05). For the control there was no significant difference for load at marginal cement seal loss between abutments.

RESUMO

The methods of prevention of complications of metalloceramic prostheses are described. A compound is designed for temporary fixation of nonremovable dentures which allowed the 2-months follow-up of the patients and did not prevent corrections at any stage of treatment. Outpatient follow-up is necessary in the cases of metalloceramic prosthesis application.
