General Data Protection Regulation in Health Clinics.

The focus on personal data has merited the EU concerns and attention, resulting in the legislative change regarding privacy and the protection of personal data. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) aims to reform existing measures on the protection of personal data of European Union citizens, with a strong impact on the rights and freedoms of individuals in establishing rules for the processing of personal data. The GDPR considers a special category of personal data, the health data, being these considered as sensitive data and subject to special conditions regarding treatment and access by third parties. This work presents the evolution of the applicability of the Regulation (EU) 2016/679 six months after its application in Portuguese health clinics. The results of the present study are discussed in the light of future literature and work are identified.

[Requirements for information about medical parameters in the field of ophthalmology].

The authors came to conclusion that modern concept of medical information systems imply the development of electronic case-record using medical archives, results of laboratory and instrumental researches, based on modern information exchange technologies. The main criterion of realisation of this concept is solving of diagnosis problems. All parameters of diagnosis and treatment can be divided into three groups: measurable, observable and calculable. Measurable parameters -parameters, whose quantitative meanings can be measured with the help of special equipment and procedures of ist application. Observable parameters--parameters that can be observed with the help of biomicroscope, fundus-camera, ophthalmoscope and etc. Specific characteristic of these parametrs is not a qualitative evaluation, but quantative description and high level of subjectivity. The third group--parameters that cannot be measured or observed. These parameters can be received computationally or in the process of simulating. These parameters are result of mechanical and mathematical simulation of physiological and pathologic process of visual organ. The authors suggested requirements for ophthalmological workstation.

Minnesota clinics' adoption, use and exchange of electronic health information.

In 2007, Minnesota passed a law requiring all health care providers in the state to implement an interoperable electronic health record (EHR) system by January 1, 2015. Since then, the Minnesota Department of Health has been monitoring progress each year by surveying hospitals, clinics and other health and health care facilities about their EHR use. This article summarizes findings from the 2013 survey of ambulatory clinics. Those results show Minnesota clinics are well on the way to achieving the state's goals for using EHRs to exchange information: 87% of clinics have adopted EHRs, 80% routinely use medication guides and alerts, and 36% exchange health information with unaffiliated settings.
