Study of pharmacokinetics of lidocaine, trimecaine, and clofelin demonstrated rapid resorption of these drugs in the postoperative period. Comparison of two methods of epidural anesthesia in high-risk patients (ASA 3) subjected to urologic surgery showed the objective advantages of adrenergic regional anesthesia, ensuring the stability of vital functions during surgery and allowing operations in awaken patients with adequate spontaneous respiration.

Determination of trimecaine metabolites in blood plasma by capillary isotachophoresis.

A method is proposed for the determination of trimecaine (diethylglycylmesidide) and its de-ethylated metabolites (monoethylglycylmesidide and glycylmesidide) in blood plasma by capillary isotachophoresis. The deproteinated plasma is extracted into chloroform after alkalinization and the total solids in the organic layer are dissolved in acidified 25% 2-propanol. Subsequent isotachophoretic analysis is performed in an operational system consisting of potassium acetate buffer (pH 4.75) as the leading and beta-alanine as the terminating electrolyte. The order of the zones corresponds to the molecular weights of the separated compounds. The recovery of all substances of interest is 55% and the limit of determination is 0.05 micrograms of each substance in 1 ml of plasma.

[Pharmacokinetic characteristics of trimecaine compared to lidocaine in myocardial infarct patients]. / Farmakokineticheskie kharakteristiki trimekaina v sravnenii s lidokainom u bol'nykh infarktom miokarda.

The authors studied pharmacokinetics of trimecain and lidocain in 10 and 15 patients with myocardial infarction, respectively, after a single intravenous jet injection in the dose of 80 mg. The groups were comparable as to age, mass and surface of the body. In all patients the dependence of trimecain and lidocain concentrations on time was biexponential. Average individual values of distribution volumes in stationary condition and in the stage of elimination, clearance and half-life differed but insignificantly for trimecain and lidocain. The results obtained justify the conclusion that trimecain and lidocain are identical from the pharmacokinetic point of view.
