RESUMO

A total of 1050 subclavian catheterizations have been performed in an intensive care unit, thrombophlebitic complications have been clinically diagnosed in 22 patients (2.1%), 3 patients developed signs of chronic venous failure long after the procedure. Intravascular laser blood irradiation (IVLBI) reduced hypercoagulation, increased fibrinolytic activity, improved blood viscosity, stimulated collateral blood flow, etc. That is why IVLBI was used in a complex of therapeutic procedures in 7 patients with thrombophlebitic complications upon subclavian catheterization. In 1 patient IVLBI was used in combination with intravenous sodium hypochlorite administration. The course of IVLBI consisted of 5-7 procedures, the power of irradiation at the end of the light probe was 5-6 mWt. The level of medium mass molecules, leukocyte index of intoxication, hematological index of intoxication, coagulogram parameters have been assessed; contrast phlebography was performed in patients with phlebothrombosis before and after IVLBI. There were no signs of chronic venous failure in this group of patients long after the procedure. The author comes to the conclusion that the use of low intensity laser irradiation and intravenous administration of sodium hypochlorite improve the effect of therapy in postcatheterization thrombophlebitic complications.

RESUMO

Three cases of lower limb, deep venous thrombosis that progressed to ischemia in patients with advanced ovarian cancer are reported. One patient developed frank gangrene of the extremity. Venous stasis, secondary to venous compression from metastatic disease, was the predisposing factor in all cases. Heparin therapy was uniformly unsuccessful in halting progression of thrombosis. Ischemic thrombosis originating from extrinsic venous compression is unlikely to respond to conventional therapy alone. Local external radiation to metastatic sites, given early and possibly in conjunction with conventional treatment methods, may achieve a clinical response by causing a reduction in tumor size and thus relief of venous compression.

RESUMO

Low-intensity helium-neon laser (LG-75) radiation produces a marked analgesic, desensitizing, hypocoagulative, and immunostimulating effect, which can be used in the treatment of acute thrombophlebitis of the lower limbs. Laser therapy alters the phase course of the wound process and in this way improves microcirculation and oxygenation of the tissues, shortens the terms of wound healing, and may be used as the method of choice in the treatment of trophic ulcers of the lower limbs.

RESUMO

The experience with the use of ultraviolet irradiation (UVI) of the blood in 98 patients with purulent-inflammatory disease is presented. UVI of the blood has considerably improved the results of treatment of the patients. The highest effectiveness of UVI of the blood is noted in treatment of chromosepsis. The treatment of psoriasis by the mentioned method appeared ineffective.
