Un vistazo a la investigación científica en la Facultad de Ciencias Médicas de la Universidad Central del Ecuador, entre 2014 y 2017 / A look at the scientific research in the Faculty of Medical Sciences of the Central University of Ecuador, between 2014 and 2017

RESUMEN

Contexto: se requiere la investigacion como un elemento clave para alcanzar el desarrollo y es la universidad la fuente mayor de esa investigacion. Además, es un indicador clave en la evaluación de la calidad universitaria. Material y métodos: se analizó la producción científica registrada en la base de datos Scopus, la presencia de grupos de investigación estructurados activos, los proyectos en ejecución y la participación en redes de cooperación y colaboración especializada. Discusión: la investigación científica reflejada en la producción científica se ha incrementado en la con un repunte significativo en los últimos cuatro años; en paralelo, como una alternativa para diversificar la formación especializada. Conclusión: entre el 2008 y 2017 se publicaron 362 artículos científicos en la FCM-UCE; existen 8 grupos activos de investigación exclusivos de la FCM; entre 2014 y 2017 se registraron 159 proyectos de investigación. ABSTRACT

Context research is required as a key element to achieve development, and the university is the major source of this research. In addition, it is a key indicator in the evaluation of university quality. Material and methods: the scientific production registered in the Scopus database was analyzed, the presence of active structured research groups, the projects in execution and the participation in networks of cooperation and specialized collaboration. Discussion: the scientific research reflected in the scientific production has increased with a significant rebound in the last four years; in parallel, as an alternative to diversify specialized training. Conclusion: between 2008 and 2017, 362 scientific articles were published in the FCM-UCE; there are 8 active research groups exclusive to the FCM; between 2014 and 2017, 159 research projects were registered.
