Aferição de conhecimento sobre HIV em caminhoneiros na prevenção de Aids / Gauging of knowledge about HIV in truck drivers the prevention of Aids

RESUMO

No mês de julho de 2005, foram entrevistados 365 caminhonerios que demandaram ao porto de Rio Grande, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul (RS), cujo objetivo foi verificar o conhecimento que estes caminhoneiros tinham com relação ao contágio do HIV/Aids. Como resultado da pesquisa, ficou identificado que os caminhoneiros possuem baixo nível de instrução. Na sua maioria, conhecem as formas de transmissão do HIV, mas não se previniam quanto aos cuidados na prática do sexo seguro, tornando-os vulneráveis ao contágio e transmissão do HIV. Pelo fato de transitarem por várias cidades do estado, outros estados e países, quando infectados, podem estar disseminando a infecção em termos regional, nacional e internacional. Alerta-se para que sejam realizados trabalhos preventivos e de conscientização desta população quanto aos riscos de exposição e transmissão do HIV.

ABSTRACT

In July of 2005, were interviewed 365 truck drivers demanded that the port of Rio Grande, in the state of Rio Grande do Sul (RS), whose goal was to verity the knowledge that these truck drivers had with respect to the infection of HIV/Aids. As a result of searchwas identified that the truck drivers have a low level of education. Most knew the ways of transmission of HIV, but not as preveniam care in the practice of safe sex, making them vulnerable to infection and transmission of HIV. Because of forward by sever al cities in the state, other states and countries, if infected, may be disseminating the infection in regional, national and international. Alert is to be carried out preventive work and awareness of the population on the risks of exposure and transmission of HIV.
