A Reforma Psiquiátrica Brasileira configura-se sob forte influência da experiência italiana que desloca o cuidado da pessoa com transtorno mental do hospital para a comunidade, mostrando a dimensão política e social da loucura que, a partir de Franco Basaglia, na Itália, passou a ocupar um lugar central no campo da saúde mental.1Desta forma há compreensão da loucura, dos modos de cuidar e a liberdade da pessoa com transtorno mental como eixo central, os serviços criados e o questionamento da cultura manicomial na sociedade são elementos que marcaram e marcam a Reforma Psiquiátrica Brasileira

ABSTRACT

The Brazilian Psychiatric Reform is a strong influence of the Italian experience that moves the care of the person with mental disorder from the hospital to the community, showing the political and social dimension of the madness that, from Franco Basaglia in Italy, began to occupy a central place in the field of mental health.1 In this way there is an understanding of the madness, the ways of caring and the freedom of the person with mental disorder as the central axis, the services created and the questioning of the asylum culture in society are elements that marked and mark the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform.
