RESUMO

Introdução:

A tuberculose permanece como prioridade de saúde pública no Brasil e a carga de morbidade suscitada preocupa em certos segmentos sociais. O município de Amambai, localizado no Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), vem apresentando elevada incidência de tuberculose nos últimos anos, e esta tem permanecido como proeminente causa de morbi-mortalidade.

Objetivo:

Caracterizar o perfil da tuberculose em Amambai-MS.

Materiais e métodos:

Estudo descritivo dos casos de tuberculose notificados no município entre 2001 a 2006. Os dados foram coletados do programa de tuberculose de Amambai-MS e do Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (SINAN). Os indivíduos envolvidos na pesquisa foram descritos segundo as variáveis sóciodemográficas, e relativas à tuberculose.

Resultados:

Os doentes foram predominantemente indígenas (76%), do sexo masculino, com idade entre 20 a 39 anos e a forma pulmonar esteve presente na totalidade dos casos. Em relação ao desfecho do tratamento a taxa de cura foi de 84.0%.

Conclusões:

Os resultados encontrados sugerem a necessidade de incrementar e adequar os serviços de prevenção, controle e tratamento da tuberculose no município pesquisado.
ABSTRACT

Introduction:

Tuberculosis remains as public health priority in Brazil and the burden of morbidity raised concern in certain social segments. The municipality of Amambai located in Mato Grosso do Sul (MS), is a high incidence of tuberculosis in recent years ago, and this has remained prominent because of morbidity-mortality.

Objective:

Characterize the profile of tuberculosis in Amambai-MS.

Methodology:

Descriptive study of notified cases of tuberculosis in the municipality from 2001 to 2006. The dates were collected program tuberculosis Amambai-MS an reportable information (SINAN). Individuals involved in the search were describd according to the socio-demographic variables,and relating to tuberculosis.

Results:

The patients were predominantly indigenous (76%) of males, aged between 20 and 39 years and pulmonary form was present in all cases. In relation to the outcome of the treatment to cure rate was 84,0%.

Conclusion:

The findings suggest the need to increase and match services of prevention, control and treatment of tuberculosis in the municipality searched.
