Efectividad del tratamiento con acupuntura en el fibroma uterino intramural de 2014 a 2017 / Effectiveness of Acupunctural Treatment against Intramural Uterine Fibroma, 2014-2017

RESUMEN

Introducción: El fibroma uterino es un tumor benigno frecuente en la etapa reproductiva de la mujer; su frecuencia hace que sea uno de los diagnósticos más comunes en las pacientes intervenidas quirúrgicamente en los servicios de ginecología y de cirugía general. Objetivo: Evaluar la efectividad del tratamiento con acupuntura en el fibroma uterino intramural. Método: Se realizó un estudio cuasiexperimental prospectivo, longitudinal, clínico terapéutico en pacientes sintomáticas procedentes de la consulta de ginecología del Hospital Militar Central "Dr. Luis Díaz Soto". De un universo de 237 se seleccionó una muestra por el método aleatorio simple de 50 pacientes con diagnóstico de fibroma uterino que cumplieron los criterios de inclusión. La muestra se dividió en un grupo estudio al que se le aplicó tratamiento con acupuntura y un grupo control que recibió tratamiento hormonal. Al total de la muestra se le realizó diagnóstico tradicional, evaluación clínica y ecográfica al inicio del tratamiento y a los tres meses; a los seis meses se realizó evaluación clínica. Los resultados se presentaron en tablas. Resultados: Predominó el diagnóstico tradicional de éxtasis de flema humedad y éxtasis de Qi y Xue. Se encontró mejoría de los síntomas de dolor y sangramiento, así como disminución del tamaño del fibroma. Conclusiones: La acupuntura resultó ser una terapia efectiva en el tratamiento del fibroma uterino.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Uterine fibroma is a frequent benign tumor in the reproductive stage of women. Its frequency makes it one of the most common diagnoses in patients operated on in gynecology and general surgery services. Objective: To assess the effectiveness of acupuncture treatment against intramural uterine fibroma. Method: A prospective, longitudinal, clinical-therapeutic, quasiexperimental study was carried out in symptomatic patients from the gynecology consultation at Dr. Luis Díaz Soto Military Central Hospital. From a universe of 237, a sample of 50 patients with a diagnosis of uterine fibroid who met the inclusion criteria was selected by the simple random method. The sample was divided into a study group, which received acupuncture treatment, and a control group, which received hormonal treatment. The total sample underwent traditional diagnosis, clinical and ultrasound evaluation at the beginning of treatment and at three months. At six months, a clinical assessment was carried out. The results were presented in tables. Results: The traditional diagnosis of ecstasy of humid phlegm and ecstasy of Qi and Xue predominated. An improvement in pain and bleeding symptoms was found, as well as a decrease in the size of the fibroma. Conclusions: Acupuncture turned out to be an effective therapy in the treatment against uterine fibroma.
