RESUMEN

Introducción:

La medicina natural y tradicional es reconocida en Cuba como una especialidad médica y a la vez constituye un programa sanitario. Su desarrollo está enmarcado en el proceso de implementación de los Lineamientos de la Política Económica y Social del Partido y la Revolución, emanados de los dos últimos congresos de Partido Comunista de Cuba.

Objetivo:

Evaluar los principales resultados del Programa de Medicina Natural y Tradicional a partir de la implementación del plan de acciones para garantizar su desarrollo y consolidación, según los indicadores de resultados de los componentes productivo, asistencial y docente.

Métodos:

Se realizó un estudio observacional, analítico y retrospectivo, donde se analizaron los principales indicadores de resultados de los componentes productivo, asistencial y docente del Programa de Medicina Natural y Tradicional, correspondientes a los años 2018 y 2019.

Resultados:

Se alcanzaron incrementos productivos, con la entrega de 710 toneladas de plantas medicinales en 2019. La elaboración de productos naturales ascendió a 83 809 985 unidades y a 170 renglones del cuadro básico. Igualmente, aumentaron los pacientes tratados con medicina natural y tradicional en todos los niveles de atención a 59 482 328 y el número de médicos especialistas se incrementó en 52 en el período.

Conclusiones:

Se observó un avance en el desarrollo de la medicina natural y tradicional en Cuba, a partir del proceso de implementación de los Lineamientos, con una evaluación favorable de la evolución de los indicadores de resultados relacionados con los componentes productivo, asistencial y docente del programa.
ABSTRACT

Introduction:

Natural and traditional medicine is recognized in Cuba as a medical specialty and at the same time it is a health program. Its development is framed in the process of implementation of the Guidelines of the Economic and Social Policy of the Party and the Revolution, emanating from the last two congresses of the Cuban Communist Party.

Objective:

To evaluate the main results of the Natural and Traditional Medicine Program, from the implementation of the action plan to guarantee its development and consolidation, according to the indicators of results of the productive, medical care and teaching components.

Methods:

An observational, analytical and retrospective study was carried out, where the main outcome indicators of the productive, care and teaching components of the Natural and Traditional Medicine Program were analyzed, corresponding to the years 2018 and 2019.

Results:

Productive increases were achieved, with the delivery of 710 tons of medicinal plants in 2019. The production of natural products amounted to 83 809 985 units and 170 lines of the basic list. Likewise, the number of patients treated with natural and traditional medicine at all levels of care increased to 59 482 328 and the number of specialist physicians increased by 52 in the period.

Conclusions:

Progress was observed in the development of natural and traditional medicine in Cuba, from the implementation process of the Guidelines, with a favorable evaluation of the evolution of the outcome indicators related to the productive, healthcare and teaching components of the Program.
