RESUMO
Moçambique possui uma epidemia do HIV com uma prevalência nacional de 13.2% entre os adultos na faixa etária de 15-49 anos 1 e, estima-se que o país possui a oitava mais alta taxa de prevalência de HIV no mundo 2 . Os comportamentos heterossexuais de risco, incluindo parceiros múltiplos e concorrentes e o baixo uso do preservativo, assim como a existência de grupos de alto risco, tais como as populações chave e as vulneráveis, constituem factores de risco, significativo, para a infecção do HIV em Moçambique 3 . O Plano Estratégico Nacional de Reposta ao HIV e SIDA de Moçambique (PEN) reconhece as populações chave como grupos de alto risco para a infecção pelo HIV, por serem grupos de difícil alcance e com acesso limitado aos serviços de saúde e legais e, como parte deste grupo, as Mulheres Trabalhadoras de Sexo (MTS) são particularmente vulneráveis à transmissão pelo HIV e outras infecções de transmissão sexual (ITS)4 .
