RESUMEN Introducción:
la pandemia por COVID-19 fomentó la educación a distancia y la aplicación WhatsApp constituyó una de sus alternativas.Objetivo:
describir los resultados del curso de posgrado "La perspectiva de género en la Salud Pública" realizado con el uso de WhatsApp en la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas de Guantánamo.Métodos:
se realizó un estudio descriptivo transversal en el mes de marzo de 2021. Se usaron métodos teóricos histórico-lógico, analítico-sintético e inductivo-deductivo; y empíricos guía de observación para recogida de información. Se definieron las variables género, perfiles, participación en el pretest y postest, número y forma de intervención, tipos de mensajes y apreciación sobre el curso recibido.Resultados:
entre los cursistas predominaron el sexo femenino y los doctores en Estomatología. Hubo 290 participaciones en el pretest y de 398 en el postest. Prevalecieron las intervenciones asincrónicas y los mensajes escritos. Se realizaron 108 planteamientos en el PNI, de los cuales el 63 % fueron positivos, el 13,8% negativos y el 23,2 % interesantes.Conclusiones:
WhatsApp permitió realizar el curso a distancia con resultados positivos, intervenciones sincrónicas y asincrónicas a través de mensajes escritos y de voz. La apreciación del curso por los participantes fue buena.ABSTRACT

the COVID-19 pandemic promoted distance-learning education and the WhatsApp application was one of its alternatives.Objective:
to describe the results of the postgraduate course "The gender perspective in Public Health" carried out with the use of WhatsApp at Guantánamo University of Medical Sciences.Methods:
a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in March 2021. Theoretical methods were used historical-logical, analytical-synthetic and inductive-deductive; and empirical ones observation guide for data collection. The variables were defined gender, profiles, participation in the pretest and posttest, number and form of intervention, types of messages and perception of the course received.Results:
females and doctors in dentistry predominated among the students. There were 290 participations in the pretest and 398 in the posttest. Asynchronous interventions and written messages prevailed. 108 statements were made in the PNI, 63 % out of them were positive, 13.8 % negative and 23.2 % interesting.Conclusions:
WhatsApp allowed the distance-learning course to be carried out with positive results, synchronous and asynchronous interventions through written and voice messages. The appreciation of the course by the participants was good.
