ABSTRACT

Gas released from the chemical reactions between sodium hypochlorite (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, and 2.5 per cent) and 3 per cent hydrogen peroxide was investigated. The number of moles of released gas was measured to determine the pressure generated by the gas released in a closed system connected to a mercury manometer. The pressure data were submitted to the Clapeyron equation (P.V=n.R.T) and the number of released gas moles was determined.
