ABSTRACT
Climacteric is characterized by the progressive reduction in the production of sexual hormones, especially estrogen. Regarding oral health, it is observed that this hormonal decrease may result in the development of osteoporosis and periodontal illnesses, which can arise mobility and dental loss, possibly aggravated in consequence of previous illnesses. In addition, hypoestrogenic will lead to the loss of dental insertion and/or gum retraction, causing the exposure of the root part of the tooth, favoring cavity development up to the root level. Institution of preventive dental treatment in the earliest phase in womens life, avoiding premature loss of dental elements, including changes in lifestyle, such as smoking, which can determine the harmful effects on oral health, therefore satisfactory. The establishment of the correct therapy involves promotion and maintenance of oral health raising ones awareness. The aim of this paper was to review the current literature on the effects caused by climacteric in women, which may trigger changes in your periodontal health, as well as involvement by caries
