Habilidades sociais e autoestima em idosos participantes de grupos de convivência / Social skills and self-esteem in the elderly participants in social groups

RESUMO

Este estudo objetivou investigar as habilidades sociais e a autoestima em idosos participantes de grupos de convivência e verificar a correlação entre as variáveis dos instrumentos. Participaram 104 indivíduos entre 45 e 85 anos (M=66,9; DP=8,4) distribuídos em dois grupos 52 participantes de grupos de convivência e 52 não participantes de grupos de convivência. Foram utilizados um questionário sociodemográfico e de caracterização de saúde, o inventário de Habilidades Sociais-Del Prette (IHS-Del Prette) e a Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg (EAR). Os idosos participantes de grupos de convivência apresentaram habilidades sociais (F2 afeto, F3 comunicação, F4 situações novas e F5 agressividade) e autoestima mais elevadas, e houve correlação significativa entre o escore geral (r=0,46), F2 (r=0,53), F3 (r= 0,36) e F5 (r=0,39) das habilidades sociais com a autoestima.

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to investigate the social skills and self-esteem in the elderly participants in social groups and to verify the correlation among thevariables of the instrumentsused. Participated of the study 104 individuals between 45 and 85 years of age (M=66,9; SD=8,4) divided into two groups 52 participants in social groups, and 52 non-participants in social groups. The instruments used were a questionnaire on sociodemographic and health characterization, the Social Skills Inventory (SSI-Del Prette) and the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSS). The results showed that older participants had higher social skills (F2 affection, F3communication, F4 new situations and F5 agressiveness) and self-esteem, and also there was a significant correlation in the overall score (r=0,46), F2 (r=0,53), F3 (r=0,36) and F5 (r=0,39) of the social skills with the self-esteem.
