Oncofertilidade: bases para a reflexão bioética / Oncofertility: foundations for bioethical reflection

RESUMO

A oncofertilidade é um campo interdisciplinar de estudo que busca interpor conhecimentos em oncologia e endocrinologia reprodutiva para o aperfeiçoamento das estratégias de preservação da função reprodutiva em sobreviventes ao câncer. Como ocorre com qualquer disciplina em construção, passa atualmente por um período de amadurecimento e transformação, em que pese o reconhecimento das diversas e efêmeras situações, e surgem questionamentos éticos e bioéticos na busca de soluções seguras e eficientes. Este artigo pretende oferecer fundamentos para a reflexão bioética sobre o tema e, assim, contribuir para o seu desenvolvimento e sua solidificação.

ABSTRACT

Oncofertility is an interdisciplinary field of interest, which intends to merge the knowledge in oncology and reproductive endocrinology, to develop strategies for preservation of reproductive function in cancer survivors. As with any discipline under construction, it is currently undergoing a period of maturation and transformation, in weighing the recognition of diverse and ephemeral situations, and raising ethical and bioethical questions in the search for safe and efficient solutions. This article aims to provide foundations for bioethical reflection on the subject and thus contribute to its development and solidification.
