Ciudades inteligentes: ¿materialización de la sostenibilidad o estrategia económica del modelo neoliberal? / Smart Cities: Are They the Materialization of Sustainability or an Economic Strategy of the Neoliberal Model?

RESUMEN

Resumen El crecimiento demográfico en las urbes del siglo XXI y su presión sobre el medio físico, han conllevado a la inclusión de tecnología para lograr el anhelado desarrollo sostenible a partir de las denominadas ciudades inteligentes. Sin embargo, surge la pregunta ¿es este el camino para lograr materializar la sostenibilidad o por el contrario es una estrategia de mercado propuesta por el modelo neoliberal que busca aumentar la demanda de tecnología? Como conclusión destaca las ciudades inteligentes como opción que plantea el capitalismo para fomentar el consumo tecnológico, el aumento de costos de vida y la inevitable especulación inmobiliaria.

Abstract The demographic growth in the 21st century cities and its pressure on the physical environment have led to the inclusion of technology to achieve the desired sustainable development from the so-called smart cities. However, a question arises is this the way to achieve sustainability or is it a market strategy proposed by the neoliberal model that seeks to increase the demand for technology? In conclusion, smart cities are highlighted as an option, which capitalism to promote technological consumption, the increase in living costs, and the inevitable real estate speculation.
