RESUMEN
Los trastornos por consumo de sustancias son un problema de salud pública, que aún con las terapias tradicionales como la farmacoterapia y la psicoterapia, tienen un alta tasa de recaídas. Las drogas más utilizadas en universitarios en nuestro país, están la marihuana seguida de cocaína entre otras. Los tratamientos habituales se dirigen a bloquear y revertir los efectos de la droga específica y prevenir la recaída durante la abstinencia, así como otros tienen el objeto de causar aversión, la psicoterapia es un pilar fundamental. Sin embargo las tasas de recaídas son altas, es más en el caso de la cocaína, no existe al momento un medicamento específico para la adicción o la sobredosis a la cocaína. En ese escenario aparece la inmunoterapia como una terapia complementaria segura y eficaz, aunque con limitaciones como la disponibilidad solo de estudios preclínicos. Los biológicos no mejoran el craving ni los síntomas de abstinencia, pero su desarrollo pudiera contribuir al manejo de los trastornos por consumo de sustancia. Las vacunas se muestran como parte del tratamiento ya no solo de infecciones sino de afecciones como los trastornos por consumo de sustancias.
ABSTRACT
The substance use disorders are public health problems that even with traditional therapies such as pharmacotherapy and psychotherapy have a high relapse rate. The drugs most used in university students of our country, are marijuana followed by cocaine between others. The usual treatments are directed to block and offset the effects of specific drugs and prevent relapse during abstinence, and others are intended to cause aversion, psychotherapy is a fundamental mainstay. However, relapse rates are high. It is higher in the case of cocaine, currently there is no a specific treatment for cocaine addiction or overdose. In this case, the immunotherapy appears as a safe and effective complementary therapy, although with limitations such as availability only of preclinical studies. Biological do not improve the craving or withdrawal symptoms, but its development could contribute to the management of substance use disorders. Vaccines have been shown as a part of the treatment not only of infections but also of conditions such as substance use disorders.
