ABSTRACT
Se realizó una investigación de carácter evaluativo para valorar la influencia de una intervención básica educativa en el desarrollo de los conocimientos y habilidades del paciente diabético ante su autocuidado y control, con el objetivo de apreciar su efecto en 3 consultorios del área del Policlínico "Mario Muñoz Monroy", ubicado en el municipio Boyeros. Se observó que hubo una mejoría en los conocimientos y habilidades de los pacientes diabéticos, ya que después de haber recibido el Curso de Información Básica, el número de las respuestas correctas se incrementó en el 13,5 por ciento, por totales. Se conoció también que las respuestas correctas son más frecuentes entre los pacientes de 56 y más años. Los mayores porcentajes de respuestas correctas correspondieron al grupo de preguntas referentes al conocimiento de la enfermedad, a la sintomatología y a la dieta, y entre los pacientes del sexo masculino(AU)
