ABSTRACT
An experimental model of dimethylbenz[a]anthracene induced breast cancer in rats was used with the aim of determining the effects of a diet rich in type n-6 polyunsaturated lipids on the expression of the p21 Ras oncogenic protein. The determination of the p21 Ras was carried out through inmunohystochemical techniques, using the streptavidin-biotin method. One hundred and forty six carcinomas were analyzed 19 from the control group (c), 62 from the induction group (l), and 65 from the Promotion group (P). The results showed that even though the mean for the p21 Ras protein expression was higher in the carcinomas from the group P, there were not significant differences among the groups. It was concluded that the lipids on the type n-6 diet did not increase significantly the p21 Ras protein expression levels in tumoral cells from the rat groups that underwent a hyperlipidic diet(AU)
