RESUMEN
La práctica de ejercicios físicos disminuye la glucemia, ayuda a mantener el peso ideal; aumenta la capacidad de trabajar; disminuye los riesgos cardiovasculares 1, 2. A cualquier edad se necesita suficiente actividad para mantenerse en buen estado fisiológico, permitir la realización óptima de una amplia gama de procesos fisiológicos que incluyen el metabolismo de las grasas y los carbohidratos 5, 6, 7. Se realizó una revisión bibliográfica sobre ejercicio y diabetes mellitus, fundamentalmente de los últimos cinco años. La DM con buen control metabólico se beneficia con la práctica de ejercicios físicos 5, 12 La actividad física debe reintegrarse en los hábitos cotidianos. Es preciso divulgar más ampliamente los beneficios que reporta a cualquier edad. Las personas deben recibir orientación con respecto al ejercicio y contar con instalaciones apropiadas 4, 5, 8, 9(AU)
ABSTRACT
The practice of physical exercises diminishes the glucemia, it helps to maintain the ideal weight, increases the working capacity, diminishes the cardiovascular risks 1, 2. At any age enough activity is needed to stay in good physiologic state, to allow the good realization of a wide range of physiologic processes that include the metabolism of the fats and the carbohydrates 5, 6, 7. Thats why a bibliographical revision on exercise and diabetes mellitus was carried out, fundamentally in the last 5 years. The DM with good metabolic control is benefited with the practice of physical exercises 5, 12 The physical activity should be reinstated in the daily habits. It is necessary to disclose the benefits that it reports at any age more thoroughly. People should receive orientation with regard to the exercise and to have appropriate facilities 4, 5, 8, 9(AU)
