Cirugía preprotésica en pacientes del área norte de Ciego de Ávila / Preprosthetic surgery behaviour in the northern area of Ciego de Avila

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio observacional descriptivo a partir de los pacientes atendidos en el servicio de Cirugía Máxilo Facial del Hospital General Provincial Docente de Morón, residentes en la zona norte de Ciego de Ávila durante el período comprendido entre enero de 2003 a diciembre de 2004, con el objetivo de determinar el comportamiento de la cirugía con fines protésicos en estos pacientes. Para la confección del dato primario se confeccionó un formulario. Los datos fueron recogidos y determinados según la clasificación de las variables, se procesaron con ayuda de un programa de computación y se distribuyeron según su frecuencia. Se utilizó el cálculo porcentual como medida de resumen de la información. El 62.88 porciento de los tratamientos quirúrgicos realizados correspondieron a tejidos duros, los pacientes de 61 y más años fueron afectados con mayor frecuencia principalmente por afecciones de tejidos blandos. La zona anatómica más intervenida la constituyó el reborde alveolar superior. El mayor porciento de pacientes fue remitido del servicio de prótesis estomatológica. (AU)

ABSTRACT

An observational descriptive study was done to the patients that were assisted in the maxillofacial surgery service in Moron General Hospital, living in the northern area of Ciego the Avila from January 2003 to December 2004, with the objective of determining the behaviour of prosthetic surgery in these patients. To form the first set of data, a formulary is used. The data were selected and determined taking into account the classification of variables, they were processed with the help of a computer programme, and were distributed according to their frequency. The percentage was used as a measure to summarise the information. The 62.88 pecent of the surgical treatments made were related to hard tissues, patients of years 61 and older were affected more frequently because of soft tissues affections. The anatomic zone more treated surgically was the upper alveolar ridge. The higher percentage of the patients were sent to the prosthetic dentistry service(AU)
