RESUMEN
Fundamento La fractura nasal constituye el trauma más frecuente del macizo facial, tratarlas de formainmediata evita complicaciones al paciente. Objetivo:
Caracterizar los pacientes con fracturas nasalestributarios a tratamiento.Métodos:
Se realizó unestudio observacional descriptivo que incluyó todos los pacientes (114) con 15 años de edad o más y quefueron atendidos con el diagnóstico de fractura nasal en el Servicio de Urgencias de Cirugía Máxilo-Facial delHospital Provincial de Cienfuegos, en el período de junio2006 a abril del 2007. Las variables estudiadas fueronedad, sexo, etiología, signos clínicos, clasificación según exposición del foco de fractura y dirección del trauma, tratamiento según Guías de Prácticas Clínicas yevaluación postratamiento.Resultados:
Predominó el sexo masculino y el grupo de edad de 15 a 44 años. Laprincipal causa de fracturas fueron las riñas, el signo clínico más frecuentemente observado fue la epistaxis.Las fracturas que predominaron fueron las cerradas y las de desviación lateral, la mayor parte de los pacientes recibió tratamiento inmediato. Dentro de los signosclínicos postoperatorios predominó la congestión nasal.Conclusiones:
Demostramos que la atención de los pacientes que presentan este tipo de fracturas debe realizarse inmediatamente o en las primeras semanascon anestesia local evitando riesgos para el paciente(AU)ABSTRACT
Background:
Nasal fracture is the most frequent facial trauma; its immediate treatment help avoiding furthercomplications.Objective:
to characterize the patientswith nasal fracture who meet the criteria for treatment.Method:
An observational, descriptive study was developed, including all patients (114) of 15 years ormore with nasal fracture received at the Emergency Maxilo-Facial Surgical Department in the provincial hospital of Cienfuegos from June 2006 to April 2007. Thestudies variables were age, sex, aetiology, clinical signs, classification depending on the fractures focus and direction of the trauma, treatment following the guidelines for good clinical practices and post-treatment assessment.Results:
There was higher incidence ofmales and the age group between 15 and 44. The maincause of fracture were fights, the most frequent clinical sign was epistaxis. The most common fractures were closed fractures and lateral deviation fractures. Most of the patients received immediate treatment. Among the clinical postsurgical sing was nasal congestion.Conclusions:
We proved that immediate care should be provided to patients with this kind of fractures with local anaesthesia to avoid further risks(AU)
