Nivel de conocimientos sobre el manejo inmediato de los traumas dentales en profesores de Educación Física / Level of knowledge about the immediate handling of dental traumas in physical education teachers

RESUMEN

El objetivo de esta investigación fue identificar el nivel de conocimientos que tienen los Profesores de Educación Física del municipio San José de Las Lajas, Provincia La Habana, concerniente a las medidas inmediatas que se deben aplicar ante un traumatismo dental. Se les aplicó un cuestionario a 49 profesores, este cuestionario contenía casos imaginarios y preguntas sobre avulsión dentaria. Solo el 49 por ciento de los profesores obtuvo calificaciones entre 70 puntos y más, demostrando que el nivel de conocimientos que poseen es insuficiente y que si ocurriese un traumatismo dental en una clase de educación física o en una competencia deportiva estos jóvenes no recibirían un tratamiento inmediato correcto y que es necesario organizar cursos de capacitación para elevar sus conocimientos sobre como actuar ante este tipo de accidente (AU)

ABSTRACT

The aim of the research was to identify the level of knowledge that the physical education teachers of San José de Las Lajas municipality in Havana Province, Cuba have, regarding the immediate steps that should be applied to dental trauma. A questionnaire was applied to 49 teachers, the questionnaire contained questions about imaginary cases and tooth avulsion. Only 49 per cent of the teachers scored 70 points and more, showing that the level of knowledge they possess is insufficient and that if a dental trauma occurrs in a physical education class or a sports competition these young people would not receive immediate correct treatment and that it is necessary to organize training courses to enhance their knowledge on how to act against this type of accident
