Neumonía Nosocomial en el Paciente con Ventilación mecánica artificial / Nosocomial pneumonia in the patient with artificial mechanical ventilation

RESUMEN

Se realizó un estudio retrospectivo descriptivo longitudinal sobre el comportamiento de las infecciones respiratorias en la UCI del Hospital General Docente Dr Ernesto Guevara de la Serna en el período de Enero de1999 a diciembre de 2000.Se diagnosticaron 55 infecciones en 56 Pacientes sometidos a la ventilación mecánica artificial el grupo de edades más afectados fueron los comprendidos entre 65 años y más con el 28 por ciento para el masculino y el 30 por ciento para el femenino. El 98,2 por ciento de los pacientes con neumonía nosocomial tenia ventilación mecánica artificial previa como condición de riesgo. El 40 por ciento del ingreso en la unidad de cuidados intensivos que al ingreso necesitó de ventilación mecánica artificial adquirió la neumonía entre el séptimo y décimo día, predomino el citrobacter en los cultivos de secreción traqueo bronquiales. Fallecieron con neumonía asociada al ventilador el 43,6 por ciento de la muestra(AU)

ABSTRACT
