RESUMEN

El síndrome metabólico (SM) constituye una entidad que se ha ido imponiendo en el mundo médico en los últimos 20 años por su trascendencia en el enfoque de riesgo cardiovascular. En nuestro país ha comenzado a ser aceptado y se han creado grupos de investigación alrededor del mismo. En el caso particular de los Servicios Médicos de las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias (FAR), este tema ha sido motivo de investigación por un grupo de profesionales del Hospital Militar Central (HMC) Luis Díaz Soto, funcionando actualmente un grupo multidisciplinario que sigue un protocolo diagnóstico-terapéutico aprobado por dicha institución

ABSTRACT

The metabolic syndrome (MS) is an entity that has been prevailing in the medical world in the last 20 years because of its importance in cardiovascular risk approach. Our country has begun to be accepted and research groups have been established around it. In the particular case of the Medical Services of the Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR), this issue has been the subject of investigation by a group of professionals from Central Military Hospital (HMC) Luis Diaz Soto, currently running a multidisciplinary group that follows a diagnostic protocol and therapeutic approved by the institution
